1096 काउंट एमिचो ने मेन्ज में प्रवेश किया, जहां उनके अनुयायियों ने यहूदी नागरिकों का नरसंहार किया। कम से कम 600 यहूदी मारे गये। 11वीं सदी के अंत में एमिचो राइनलैंड में काउंट या बड़े जागीरदार थे। 1096 में वह राइनलैंड नरसंहार 1096 का जर्मन धर्मयुद्ध का नेता था पीपुल्स क्रूसेड के तहत भारी संख्या में यहूदियों की सामूहिक हत्याओं की एक श्रृंखला चलाई।

1332 इब्न खल्दून का जन्म हुआ। खल्दून उत्तरी अफ्रीका के बहुमुखी प्रतिभावान, अरब और अफ्रीकी मामलों के मुस्लिम इतिहासकार थे। इन्हें आधुनिक समाजशास्त्र और अर्थशास्त्र का पिता माना जाता हैं। उन्होंने साहित्य, धर्म, ज्योतिष, अर्थशास्त्र आदि अनेक विषयों में महत्त्वपूर्ण काम किए।

1378 प्रसिद्ध चीनी सैन्य कमांडर, इतिहासकार और नाटककार झू क्वान का जन्म हुआ।

1444 समरसेट के प्रथम ड्यूक, अंग्रेज कमांडर जॉन ब्यूफोर्ट का निधन हुआ।

1519 विख्यात इतालवी इतिहासकार, संगीत विशेषज्ञ, मानवतावादी गिरोलामो मेई का जन्म हुआ। गिरोलामो मेई संगीत इतिहास में फ्लोरेंटाइन कैमराटा को बौद्धिक प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करने के लिए प्रसिद्ध थे, जिसने प्राचीन ग्रीक संगीत नाटक को पुनर्जीवित करने का प्रयास किया। उनका जन्म फ्लोरेंस में हुआ उनकी मृत्यु रोम में जुलाई 1594 में हुई। उन्होंने छद्म नाम डेसीमो कोरिनेला दा पेरेटोला का भी इस्तेमाल किया।

1584 प्रसिद्ध जर्मन धर्मशास्त्री और संगीतकार माइकल अल्टेनबर्ग का जन्म हुआ।

1644 मांचू रीजेंट डोर्गन ने शांहाई दर्रे की लड़ाई में शुन राजवंश के विद्रोही नेता ली जिचेंग को हराया, जिससे मंचू को बीजिंग प्रवेश करने और जीतने की सुविधा मिली।

1703 रूस के जार (राजा) पीटर ने नेवा नदी के तट पर रूस की सांस्कृतिक राजधानी सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग की नींव रखी। इसे 1917 की रूसी क्रांति के गवाह के तौर पर पहचान मिली। ये रूस का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा शहर है।

1813 अमेरिका ने फोर्ट जाॅर्ज, कनाडा पर कब्जा किया।

1857 निर्वासित मराठा पेशवा बाजी राव द्वितीय के दत्तक पुत्र नाना साहब नाम से प्रसिद्ध धोंदू पंत ने 1857 के भारतीय विद्रोह के दौरान कानपुर विद्रोह का नेतृत्व किया था, को कानपुर में पुलिस ने पकड़ लिया।

1894 ख्यातिप्राप्त आलोचक तथा निबंधकार पदुमलाल पुन्नालाल बख्शी का जन्म हुआ।

1895 विख्यात ब्रिटिश अविष्कारक बर्ट एक्रेस ने फिल्म कैमरा-प्रोजेक्टर का पेटेंट कराया।

1896 जार निकोलस द्वितीय रूस के सम्राट नियुक्त हुए। यह अंतिम सम्राट हुए। इसके बाद रूस में राजशाही समाप्त हो गई। 1896 में इसी दिन सेंट लुइस, मिसौरी और ईस्ट सेंट लुइस, इलिनोइस में एफ4-स्ट्रेंथ सेंट लुइस-ईस्ट सेंट लुइस बवंडर ने कहर बरपाया जिसमें कम से कम 255 लोग मारे गए और तब के 10 मिलियन डॉलर से अधिक की क्षति हुई।

1906 महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषद की स्थापना पुणे में की गई थी। महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषद मराठी भाषा और साहित्य की उन्नति के उद्देश्य से बेहतरीन साहित्यिक संस्थान है। भारतीय साहित्य का विश्वकोश इसे मराठी का पहला प्रतिनिधि साहित्यिक निकाय मानता है।

1908 मौलाना हकीम नुरूद्दीन अहमदिया मुस्लिम समुदाय के पहले खलीफा बने।

1909 एल कोबरे, ताचिरा, वेनेजुएला में जुआन विसेंट पेरेज मोरा का जन्म हुआ जो वेनेजुएला के एक सुपर शताब्दी व्यक्ति बने, 114 वर्ष, 311 दिन इनकी जीवन यात्रा रही। निधन 2 अप्रैल 2024 को हुआ। स्पेन के सैटर्निनो डी की मृत्यु के बाद दुनिया के सबसे बुजुर्ग सत्यापित जीवित व्यक्ति जुआन विसेंट पेरेज मोरा ही थे।

अपनी मृत्यु के समय, वह इनाह कैनाबारो लुकास के बाद दूसरे सबसे उम्रदराज जीवित लैटिन अमेरिकी थे, और मारिया ब्रान्यास, टोमिको इटूका और इनाह कैनाबारो लुकास के बाद दुनिया के चैथे सबसे उम्रदराज जीवित व्यक्ति थे।

1919 तेलुगु भाषा के प्रसिद्ध विद्वान कंदुकूरी वीरेशलिंगम का निधन हुआ, उन्हें आधुनिक तेलुगु साहित्य में गद्य ब्रह्मा के नाम से ख्याति मिली।

1933 भारत रत्न और भारत के संविधान के लेखक डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर की पहली पत्नी रमाबाई अंबेडकर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन वॉल्ड डिज्नी ने दि थ्री लिटिल पिग्स नाम की एनिमेडेट शॉर्ट फिल्म रिलीज की। ये कार्टून और इसका गाना दोनों बहुत मशहूर हुए।

1941 जर्मन जंगी जहाज बिस्मार्क को ब्रिटिश नौसेना ने समुद्र में डुबो दिया।

1948 महात्मा गांधी की हत्या का मुकदमा शुरू हुआ, गांधी की हत्या 30 जनवरी 1948 को आरएसएस से जुड़े विनायक सावरकर के शिष्य नाथूराम ने कर दी थी।

1951 मछलियों के एक बड़े संग्रह के तौर पर विख्यात बंबई में तारापोरवाला मछली घर का उद्घाटन हुआ। यहां देश दुनिया की बहुत सी प्रजातियों की मछलियां और अन्य समुद्री जीव रखे गए हैं।

1954 प्रख्यात हिंदी कवि, पत्रकार एवं पत्रकारिता के प्राध्यापक हेमंत जोशी का जन्म हुआ।

1957 कारोबारी और भाजपा नेता केंद्रीय मंत्री नितिन गडकरी का नागपुर में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन भारत सरकार ने कॉपीराइट विधेयक को मंजूरी दी गई। इसे 21 जनवरी 1958 को लागू किया गया।

1962 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेटर और बाद में कमेंटेटर के रूप में ख्याति अर्जित करने वाले रवि शास्त्री का जन्म हुआ।

1963 भारत के हैदराबाद, आंध्र प्रदेश में शांतनु नारायण का जन्म हुआ। वे अमेरिका में जाने माने कारोबारी और तकनीकी कंपनी एडोब इंक के अध्यक्ष और मुख्य परिचालन अधिकारी हैं।

1964 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी, विश्व नेता एवं स्वतंत्र भारत के प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू का निधन हुआ। आधुनिक भारत के निर्माता नेहरू के निधन का समाचार दोपहर दो बजे के रेडियो समाचार बुलेटिन में दिया गया। खबर फैलते ही प्रधानमंत्री आवास के बाहर लाखों लोगों की भीड़ जुट गई। कहते हैं कि उस दौर में भी करीब ढाई लाख लोगों ने उनके अंतिम दर्शन किए थे।

1971 डहलराऊ ट्रेन दुर्घटना, पश्चिम जर्मनी की सबसे भीषण रेल दुर्घटना हुई जिसमें वुपर्टल के पास 46 लोग मारे गए और 25 घायल हुए। इसी दिन 1971 में पाकिस्तानी सेना ने बागबती नरसंहार में 200 से अधिक बंगाली हिंदू लोगों की हत्या कर दी।

1975 इंग्लैंड के उत्तरी यॉर्कशायर में ग्रासिंगटन के पास डिबल्स ब्रिज कोच दुर्घटना में 33 लोगों की मौत हुई। यह यूनाइटेड किंगडम में सड़क दुर्घटना में मरने वालों की तब तक की सबसे बड़ी संख्या थी।

1977 पैन एम और केएलएम के दो विमान टकराए, 582 की लोगों की मौत हुई।

1980 दक्षिण कोरियाई पुलिस ने जन आंदोलन को कुचला, 2000 से ज्यादा लोगों की हत्या कर दी।

1986 इक्का सिंह के नाम से मशहूर गायक, रैपर, संगीतकार और गीतकार अंकित सिंह फतियाल का जन्म कांगड़ा, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ।

1991 आस्ट्रिया के बोइंग विमान में विस्फोट हुआ, 223 लोग मारे गये।

1993 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड मराठी, तमिल, कन्नड़ फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल वैभवी शांडिल्य का जन्म पुणे में हुआ। इसी दिन जाने माने भारतीय फुटबाल खिलाड़ी अमरिंदर रंजीत सिंह का जन्म पंजाब के माहिलपुर में हुआ।

1994 नोबेल साहित्य पुरस्कार विजेता रूसी लेखक एलेक्जेंडर सोल्जेनित्सिन पश्चिम में 20 वर्ष का निर्वासन समाप्त कर स्वदेश लौटे।

1995 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेटर शाहरुख खान का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1999 बोत्सवाना की सुंदरी पुले क्वेलागोव को वर्ष 1999 की मिस यूनिवर्स चुनाा गया। इसी दिन विश्व का सबसे बड़ा पर्यावरण पुरस्कार (सोफी पुरस्कार) डरमन हेली (अमेरिका) तथा थॉमस केयरी (भारत) को प्रदान किया गया। इसी दिन सर्विया के राष्ट्रपति स्लोबोदान मिलोसेविच को नीदरलैंड के हेग स्थित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायाधिकरण ने युद्ध अपराधी घोषित किया। 1999 में इसी दिन स्पेस शटल डिस्कवरी को एसटीए96 पर लॉन्च किया गया, जो अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन के साथ डॉक करने वाला पहला शटल मिशन था। 1999 में इसी दिन न्यूली-सुर-सीन, फ्रांस में लिली-रोज मेलोडी डेप का जन्म हुआ जो खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, लोकप्रिय फ्रांसीसी-अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री और फैशन मॉडल हैं। यह कम उम्र में अपने काम से बहुत मशहूर हुईं और मतदान की उम्र न होने के बावजूद 2016 में लिली-रोज मेलोडी डेप ने डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी के राष्ट्रपति पद के प्राइमरी चुनावों के दौरान बर्नी सैंडर्स का समर्थन किया।

2001 एक इस्लामवादी अलगाववादी समूह, अबू सय्याफ के सदस्यों ने फिलीपींस में पलावन के एक समृद्ध द्वीप रिजॉर्ट से बीस बंधकों को पकड़ लिया। जून 2002 तक बंधक संकट का समाधान नहीं हो पाया।

2002 नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री शेर बहादुर देउबा को 3 साल के लिए पार्टी से निकाला गया।

2005 दक्षिण अफ्रीका की राजधानी प्रिटोरिया का नाम बदलकर श्वाने करने का निर्णय लिया गया।

2011 विश्व के सबसे बड़े इंटरनेट सर्च इंजन गूगल ने भारतीय शहरों की हर गली-नुक्कड़ की तस्वीरें इंटरनेट पर दिखाने की घोषणा की। गूगल अर्थ के जरिए जहाँ अब तक आप धरती के विभिन्न हिस्सों की सैटलाइट तस्वीरें देख सकते थे, दूसरी ओर गूगल के नए फीचर स्ट्रीट व्यू से गली-नुक्कड़ तक को देखा जा सकेगा।

2018 गार्डनर डोजोइस नामक प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी विज्ञान कथा लेखक और संपादक का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2018 में अमेरिका के मैरीलैंड बाढ़ घटना प्राकृतिक आपदा में पूरे पटप्सको घाटी में बाढ़ आई, जिससे एक की मौत हो गई, एलिकोट सिटी में मेन स्ट्रीट पर इमारतों की पूरी पहली मंजिल नष्ट हो गई और कारें पलट गईं।

2020 भारत के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय के अनुसार देश में पिछले 24 घंटे में कोरोना वायरस के 6,000 से ज्यादा नये मामले सामने आने के साथ संक्रमित लोगों की संख्या 1.5 लाख से ज्यादा हो गयी। संक्रमण से ठीक होने की दर भी बढ़कर 42 प्रतिशत से अधिक हो गयी, जबकि मरने वालों की संख्या 4,337 आधिकारिक रूप से हुई। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी नाटककार, सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य अधिवक्ता और एलजीबीटी अधिकार कार्यकर्ता का निधन हुआ।

1444 English commander John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset, died.

1519 Girolamo Mei, renowned Italian historian, music expert, humanist, was born. Girolamo Mei was famous in music history for providing intellectual stimulation to the Florentine Camerata, which attempted to revive ancient Greek musical drama. He was born in Florence and died in Rome in July 1594. He also used the pseudonym Decimo Corinella da Peretola.

1584 Michael Altenberg, famous German theologian and musician, was born.

1644 Manchu regent Dorgon defeats Shun dynasty rebel leader Li Jicheng at the Battle of Shanhai Pass, allowing the Manchus to enter and conquer Beijing.

1703 Czar (King) Peter of Russia laid the foundation of St. Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia, on the banks of the Neva River. It is recognized as a witness to the Russian Revolution of 1917. It is the second largest city of Russia.

1964 Jawaharlal Nehru, famous Indian freedom fighter, world leader and first Prime Minister of independent India, passed away. The news of the demise of Nehru, the creator of modern India, was given in the 2 o'clock radio news bulletin.
