1881 900 से अधिक पृष्ठ का काफी क्लिस्ट उपन्यास बौड़म लिखने वाले, रूसी उपन्यासकार, लघु कथाकार, निबंधकार और पत्रकार फ्योदोर मिखाइलोविच दोस्तोवस्की (11 नवंबर 1821 को मॉस्को, रूसी साम्राज्य में जन्म) का निधन रूस के सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग में हुआ। उनका एक बेहद चर्चित अन्य उपन्यास है अपराध और दंड।

1893 वर्डी का आखिरी ओपेरा फालस्टाफ का प्रीमियर ला स्काला ओपेरा हाउस, मिलान में हुआ। इतालवी संगीतकार ग्यूसेप वर्डी द्वारा तीन खंडों लिखा गया एक कॉमिक ओपेरा है। इतालवी भाषा के लिब्रेटो को विलियम शेक्सपियर के नाटक द मैरी वाइव्स ऑफ विंडसर और हेनरी चतुर्थ भाग 1 और भाग 2 के दृश्यों से एरिगो बोइटो द्वारा अनुकूलित किया गया था। वर्डी ने 80 वर्ष की आयु के करीब अपने 26 ओपेरा में से आखिरी फालस्टाफ लिखा। यह उनकी दूसरी कॉमेडी थी और मैकबेथ और ओटेलो के बाद शेक्सपियर नाटक पर आधारित उनका तीसरा ओपेरा था। यह कथानक मोटे शूरवीर सर जॉन फालस्टाफ द्वारा दो विवाहित महिलाओं को अपने पतियों की संपत्ति तक पहुंच प्राप्त करने के लिए बहकाने के असफल, हास्यास्पद प्रयासों के इर्द-गिर्द घूमता है। Teatro alla Scala in Milan

1954 दिग्गज कांग्रेसी नेता बलराम जाखड़ के नेता पुत्र सुनील जाखड़ का जन्म हुआ। सुनील अब भाजपा में हैं।

1958 आजकल की चर्चित बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री सारा अली खान की मां जानी मानी भारतीय अभिनेत्री अमृता सिंह का जन्म हदाली, पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1959 भारत के जाने माने होटल कारोबारी लेमन ट्री होटल समूह के मुखिया पाटु केसवानी का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ। इसी दिन विश्व की प्रथम अंतरमहाद्वीपीय बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल सोवियत संघ में सोवियत आर -7 सोमेकोर्का का सफल परीक्षण संपन्न हुआ।

1962 नरेंद्र मोदी के शासन में 2002 में हुए मुस्लिम विरोधी दंगों के पीड़ितों को न्याय के लिए संघर्ष करने वाली, भारत की प्रमुख मानवाधिकार, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और सिटिजन फाॅर जस्टिस एंड पीस एनजीओ की प्रमुख कर्ता-धर्ता तीस्ता सीतलवाड़ का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन स्वतंत्र देश बनने के लिए जमैका ने दस्तावेजों पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1968 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता राहुल रॉय का जन्म हुआ।

1970 आॅस्ट्रेलिया के विख्यात तेज गेंदबाज ग्लेन मैक्ग्रा का जन्म हुआ। उन्होंने 124 टेस्ट मैच में 563 जबकि 250 वनडे मुकाबलों में 381 विकेट लिए।

1971 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा का चांद पर भेजा गया अपोलो-14 मिशन धरती पर लौटा।

1973 प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ बीजू पटनायक उड़ीसा राज्य विधानसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष चुने गए।

1975 रूसी अंतरिक्ष यान सोयुज 17 अंतरिक्ष से 29 दिन बाद धरती पर लौटा।

1979 अफ्रीकी देश नाइजीरिया में संविधान बदला गया।

1981 नवंबर 1966 में विदेश मंत्री बने भारतीय न्यायविद् और राजनीतिज्ञ एम. सी. चागला का निधन हुआ।

1983 आयरलैंड के एक रेस के मशहूर घोड़े शेरगर को किसी ने चुरा लिया था। उसकी खोज में पूरे आयरलैंड की पुलिस लग गई। ये घोड़ा आगा खान का था। आगा खान आयरलैंड के इमाम थे। आयरलैंड में इस तरह की ये पहली चोरी थी। 1981 में ही शेरगर को साल का सबसे बेहतरीन घोड़ा चुना गया था। घोड़े की कीमत एक करोड़ पाउंड थी और उसका तीन लाख पाउंड का इंश्योरेंस भी था। घोड़ा चुराने वालों ने 20 लाख पाउंड की फिरौती मांगी थी, लेकिन फिरौती देने से मना कर दिया गया था। बाद में उस घोड़े का कुछ पता नहीं लगा। बीमा कंपनियों ने भी इंश्योरेंस देने से मना कर दिया था, क्योंकि घोड़े की मौत की पुष्टि नहीं हो पाई थी।

1984 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल उदिता गोस्वामी का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन सुप्रसिद्ध भरतनाट्यम नृत्यांगना टी. बालासरस्वती का निधन।

1990 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी मानी फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल, मिस अर्थ 2010 निकोल फारिया का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1992 अलजीरिया के संसदीय चुनाव में इस्लामी समूह को मिली भारी जीत के बाद सत्ता पर पहले से कब्जा किये हुए सैन्य अधिकारियों ने चुनाव परिणामों को अमान्य और विजयी अलजीरिया इस्लामी मुक्तिमोर्चे को गैर कानूनी घोषित किया।

1991 लिथुआनिया में मतदाताओं ने स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के लिए मतदान किया।

1993 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय ग्रैंड मास्टर खिलाड़ी परिमार्जन नेगी का जन्म हुआ।

1999 यूगांडा में एड्स के टीके अलवाक का परीक्षण किया गया। इसी दिन प्रख्यात फिल्मकार शेखर कपूर की फिल्म एलिजाबेथ ऑस्कर पुरस्कार के लिए नामांकित की गई।

2001 शिवानतरा थाइलैंड के नए प्रधानमंत्री निर्वाचित हुए। इसी दिन चीन द्वारा चीन-तिब्बत रेलामार्ग को मंजूरी दी गई। इसी दिन तालिबान ने पाकिस्तान के साथ प्रत्यर्पण संधि से इंकार किया।

2006 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, प्रख्यात भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री नादिरा का निधन। नादिरा का वास्तविक नाम फ्लोरेंस एज़ेकिल था और वे 5 दिसंबर 1932 को इराक की राजधानी बगदाद में पैदा हुईं। उन्होंने श्री 420, पाकीजा इत्यादि तमाम भारतीय फिल्मों में शानदार अभिनय किया। राज कपूर की फिल्म श्री 420 में मुड़ मुड़ के न देख उन पर फिल्माया गया, उन्हें मुड़ मुड़ के न देख गर्ल भी कहा जाता था।

2007 पाकिस्तानी विपक्षी पार्टी जमायती उलेमा इस्लामी ने जिन्ना को स्वतंत्रता सेनानी की सूची से हटाया।

2008 अपना जीवन कुष्ठ रोगियों के कल्याण में लगाने वाले सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता बाबा आमटे का निधन हुआ। बाबा आमटे को 1971 में पद्मश्री, 1985 में रेमन मैग्सेसे और 1986 में पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था।

2009 भारत के उच्चतम न्यायालय ने ताज और उसके आसपास के अवैध निर्माण पर यूपी सरकार को नोटिस दिया।

2010 भारत सरकार ने जेनेटिकली माडिफाइड बीटी बैंगन की व्यावसायिक खेती पर अनिश्चित काल के लिए रोक लगाई।

2012 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय निर्देशक, निर्माता और पटकथा लेखक ओ. पी. दत्ता का निधन।

2013 संसद हमले के कथित साजिशकर्ता अफजल गुरू को तिहाड़ जेल में फांसी दी गई। फांसी के फंदे पर लटकाने के दो घंटे बाद डॉक्टरों ने उसे मृत घोषित किया। सरकार ने उसका शव भी परिजनों को नहीं दिया। बहुत से जानकारों का मानना है कि अफजल गुरु को साजिशन फंसाया, दोषी ठहराया और फांसी दी गई। इसी दिन जर्मनी के शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के संघीय मंत्री एनेट स्कोवन ने यह आरोप लगने के बाद कि पढ़ाई के दौरान डाॅक्ट्रेट की डिग्री उन्होंने किसी अन्य के दस्तावेज चुराकर, इस्तेमाल करके हासिल की थी, अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया।

2014 स्विट्जरलैंड ने यूरोपीय संघ से देश में आने वाले प्रवासियों की संख्या के बारे में कोटा निर्धारित किया जिसे संसद में 50.4 फीसदी मतों सहमति मिली।

2016 नेपाल के 37वें प्रधानमंत्री सुशील कोइराला का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन जर्मनी के बवारिया राज्य में दो रेलों की जोरदार टक्कर हो गई इसमें करीब 12 लोगों की मौत हो गई और लगभग 85 लोग बुरी तरह घायल हो गए।

2018 विख्यात उड़िया लेखक चंद्रशेखर रथ का निधन हुआ।

2020 विख्यात हिंदी कथाकार, उपन्यासकार, कथाकार, लेखक, आलोचक और पत्रकार तथा संपादक गिरिराज किशोर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ आरएसएस के विचारक, लेखक एवं भाजपा की पूर्ववर्ती आरएसएस की राजनीतिक पार्टी जनसंघ के उपाध्यक्ष रहे पी. परमेश्वरन का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन साल्वाडोर के राष्ट्रपति नायब बुकेले ने बेहतर सरकारी सुरक्षा योजना को मंजूरी दिलाने में सहायता के लिए सेना के जवानों को विधान सभा में बुलाया जिससे एक राजनीतिक संकट पैदा हो गया।

2021 डोनाल्ड ट्रंप पर दूसरा महाभियोग ट्रायल शुरू हुआ।

2022 भारत सरकार ने कहा कि 2018 से 2020 के बीच 16,000 से अधिक लोगों ने दिवालिया होने या कर्ज में डूबे होने के कारण आत्महत्या कर ली, जबकि 9,140 लोगों ने बेरोजगारी के चलते अपनी जान दे दी। गृह राज्य मंत्री नित्यानंद राय ने एक प्रश्न के लिखित उत्तर में राज्यसभा को यह जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि 2020 में 5,213 लोगों ने दिवालियापन या कर्ज में डूबे होने के कारण आत्महत्या की जबकि 2019 में यह संख्या 5,908 और 2018 में 4,970 थी। इसी दिन सांसदों एवं विधायकों के खिलाफ आपराधिक मामलों की शीघ्र सुनवाई और इन मामलों में तेज गति से जांच कराए जाने का अनुरोध करने वाली जनहित याचिका शीघ्र सूचीबद्ध करने के आग्रह पर विचार करने के लिए भारत का सर्वोच्च न्यायालय सहमत हो गया। प्रधान न्यायाधीश एनवी रमण, जस्टिस एएस बोपन्ना और जस्टिस हिमा कोहली की पीठ ने वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता और न्याय मित्र विजय हंसारिया के इस आवेदन पर गौर किया कि याचिका को तत्काल सुनवाई के लिए सूचीबद्ध किए जाने की आवश्यकता है। हंसारिया ने कहा कि मौजूदा और पूर्व सांसदों, विधायकों एवं विधान परिषद के सदस्यों के खिलाफ लंबित मामलों की जानकारी देते हुए एक नवीनतम रिपोर्ट अदालत को सौंपी गई है तथा लंबित आपराधिक मामलों के तेजी से निपटारे के लिए तत्काल एवं कड़े कदम उठाने की आवश्यकता है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, सांसदों, विधायकों और विधान परिषद सदस्यों के खिलाफ कुल 4,984 मामले लंबित हैं। इनमें से 1899 मामले 5 वर्ष से अधिक पुराने हैं। इसमें बताया गया है कि दिसंबर 2018 तक कुल लंबित मामले 4110 थे और अक्तूबर 2020 तक ये 4859 थे। अधिवक्ता स्नेहा कलिता के माध्यम से दाखिल रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है, ‘4 दिसंबर 2018 के बाद 2775 मामलों के निस्तारण के बावजूद सांसदों तथा विधायकों के खिलाफ मामले 4122 से बढ़ कर 4984 हो गये। इससे पता चलता है कि आपराधिक पृष्ठभूमि वाले और भी अधिक लोग संसद और राज्य विधानसभाओं में पहुंच रहे हैं।

1893 Verdi's last opera Falstaff premieres at La Scala opera house, Milan. is a comic opera written in three volumes by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. The Italian-language libretto was adapted by Arrigo Boito from scenes from William Shakespeare's play The Merry Wives of Windsor and Henry IV Part 1 and Part 2. Verdi wrote Falstaff, the last of his 26 operas, when he was about 80 years old. It was his second comedy and his third opera based on a Shakespeare play, after Macbeth and Otello. 1983 Someone stole Shergar, a famous race horse from Ireland. Police from all over Ireland started searching for him. This horse belonged to Aga Khan. Aga Khan was the Imam of Ireland. This was the first theft of its kind in Ireland. Shergar was chosen as the best horse of the year in 1981 itself. The price of the horse was 10 million pounds and it also had an insurance of 300,000 pounds. The horse thieves had demanded a ransom of two million pounds, but the ransom was refused. Later there was no trace of that horse. Insurance companies also refused to provide insurance because the death of the horse could not be confirmed.

It states that the total pending cases as of December 2018 were 4110 and as of October 2020, they were 4859. The report filed through advocate Sneha Kalita states, 'Despite disposal of 2775 cases after December 4, 2018, the cases against MPs and MLAs increased from 4122 to 4984. This shows that more people with criminal backgrounds are reaching Parliament and state assemblies.
