1258 लंबे समय चली बगदाद की घेराबंदी अंतिम अब्बासिद खलीफा के मंगोल साम्राज्य के राजकुमार हुलगु खान के आत्मसमर्पण के साथ समाप्त हो गई।

1306 डंफ्रीज में ग्रेफ्रिअर्स चर्च की ऊंची वेदी के सामने सम्राट रॉबर्ट द ब्रूस ने स्कॉटिश स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के नेता जॉन कॉमिन की हत्या कर दी, जिससे स्कॉटिश स्वतंत्रता के युद्ध में क्रांतिकारी गतिविधियां और तेज हो गईं।

1355 इंग्लैंड के ऑक्सफोर्ड में सेंट स्कोलास्टिका दिवस पर हुए दंगे में दो दिनों में 63 विद्वान और करीब 30 स्थानीय लोग मारे गए।

1495 इंग्लैंड में सर विलियम स्टैनली की हत्या कर दी गई। सर विलियम स्टेनली केजी एक अंग्रेजी सैनिक और डर्बी के प्रथम अर्ल थॉमस स्टेनली के छोटे भाई थे। स्टेनली ने गुलाब के युद्धों की कई लड़ाइयों में अपने सैनिकों के साथ लड़ाई लड़ी।

1502 वास्को डी गामा पुर्तगाल के लिस्बन से भारत की अपनी दूसरी यात्रा पर रवाना हुए।

1567 एक भयंकर विस्फोट से वह इमारत तबाह हो गई जिसमें स्कॉटलैंड के राजा हेनरी स्टुअर्ट और लॉर्ड डर्नले रह रहे थे। बाद में उनका गला हुआ शरीर बाग में पाया गया।

1616 ब्रिटिश राजदूत सर थॉमस रो मुगल शासक जहांगीर के अजमेर स्थित दरबार में पहुंचे।

1692 कलकत्ता के संस्थापक जॉब चारनॉक का कलकत्ता में निधन हुआ।

1805 कुरिआकोसी इलिआस चावारा का जन्म हुआ। वे केरल के प्रतिष्ठित भारतीय साइरो कैथॉलिक संत तथा समाज सुधारक, दार्शनिक हुए।

1811 बेलग्रेड पर रूसी सैनिकों ने कब्जा किया।

1817 आस्ट्रिया, ब्रिटेन, रूस और प्रसिया ने फ्रांस से अपनी फौजें हटाने की घोषणा की।

1916 पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री हुए प्रसिद्ध राजनेता दरबारा सिंह का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन ब्रिटेन में सेना में भर्ती के लिए बड़ा अभियान शुरु हुआ।

1917 जोहान्ना वेस्टरडिच नीदरलैंड की पहली महिला प्रोफेसर बनी।

1918 सोवियत नेता लियो ट्रोटस्की ने रूस के प्रथम विश्व युद्ध से हटने की घोषणा की।

1920 जोजेफ हॉलर डी हॉलेनबर्ग ने समुद्र तक पोलिश पहुंच की बहाली का जश्न मनाते हुए समुद्र के साथ पोलैंड का प्रतीकात्मक विवाह किया। यह पोलैंड का लोकप्रिय पर्यटन स्थल है। यहां न्यू कपल और अन्य तमाम तरह के पर्यटक आते हैं।

1921 महात्मा गांधी ने काशी विद्यापीठ का उद्घाटन किया। इसी दिन ब्रिटिश सेनाधिकारी ड्यूक आफ कनॉट प्रिंस आर्थर ने इंडिया गेट की नींव रखी।

1922 हंगरी के चर्चित नेता और राष्ट्रपति अर्पद गाँक्ज का जन्म हुआ।

1929 जेआरडी टाटा को देश का पहला पायलट लाइसेंस दिया गया। जेआरडी ने ही देश की पहली कमर्शियल विमान सेवा टाटा एयरलाइंस की शुरुआत की, जो बाद में 1946 में एअर इंडिया बनी।

1931 नयी दिल्ली भारत की राजधानी बनी।

1933 जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर ने मार्क्सवाद की समाप्ति की घोषणा की।

1935 परमानन्द श्रीवास्तव का जन्म हुआ। वे हिंदी के शीर्ष आलोचकों में गिने जाने वाले प्रतिष्ठित साहित्यकार हुए।

1939 जापानी सैनिकों ने चीन के हेनान द्वीप पर कब्जा किया।

1942 विख्यात बांग्ला फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल माधबी चक्रवर्ती का जन्म हुआ।

1945 राजेश पायलट के नाम से सुप्रसिद्ध भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के नेता, पूर्व भारतीय फौजी, लोकसभा सदस्य और केंद्रीय मंत्री रहे राजेश्वर प्रसाद बिधूड़ी का जन्म गाजियाबाद में हुआ।

1947 नीदरलैंड्स रेडियो यूनियन की स्थापना हुईं।

1952 प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू के नेतृत्व में हुए भारत के प्रथम आम चुनाव में कांग्रेस पार्टी को पूर्ण बहुमत मिला।

1961 अमेरिका ने वेस्टइंडीज में अनेक स्थानों पर अपना दावा छोड़ा। इसी दिन कनाडा में नियाग्रा जल प्रपात की पनबिजली परियोजना से बिजली का उत्पादन शुरू हुआ।

1962 सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जज न्यायमूर्ति सूर्य कांत का जन्म हिसार, हरियाणा में हुआ।

1970 कुमार विश्वास के नाम से मशहूर हिंदी कवि विश्वास कुमार शर्मा का पिलखुआ, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ जन्म।

1975 प्रख्यात जनवादी कवि सुदामा पांडेय धूमिल का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन भारतीय फाइन आर्ट के जाने माने फोटोग्राफर अमित निमाड़े का जन्म इंदौर में हुआ।

1979 ईटानगर को अरुणाचल प्रदेश की राजधानी बनाया गया।

1981 खतरों के खिलाड़ी से खास पहचान हासिल करने वाले जाने माने भारतीय फिल्म टेलीविजन अभिनेता मोहम्मद इक़बाल खान का जन्म जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के श्रीनगर में हुआ। हुआ। इसी दिन खगोलविद राय पेंथर द्वारा धूमकेतु की खोज।

1984 विख्यात मलयालम फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक, संपादक और लेखक अल्फोंस पुथरेन का जन्म अलुवा में हुआ और इसी दिन प्रख्यात सोवियत नेता एवं राष्ट्रपति यूरी आंद्रोपोव का 1984 में देहांत हुआ।

1985 जानी मानी दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की गायिका और संगीतज्ञ महाती एस का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1989 अमेरिका ने नेवादा परीक्षण स्थल से परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1990 जानी मानी भारतीय महिला पहलवान पायल सरकार का जन्म हुआ। 1990 में 10 फरवरी को ग्वांगजू, ग्योंगगी, दक्षिण कोरिया चोई सू-यंग का जन्म हुआ। सू-यंग को पेशेवर रूप से सूयॉन्ग के नाम से जाना जाता है। वह खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभासंपन्न दक्षिण कोरियाई गायिका, अभिनेत्री, गीतकार, नर्तकी और परोपकारी हैं।

1991 मुक्केबाजी की दुनिया के सबसे सफल खिलाड़ी रहे माइक टाइसन को बलात्कार का दोषी पाकर 6 साल की सजा सुनाई।1991 में माइक टाइसन को 18 साल की डेसिरी वॉशिंगटन से बलात्कार के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया था। 26 जनवरी 1992 से ट्रायल शुरू हुआ और 10 फरवरी 1992 को इंडियानापोलिस की कोर्ट ने उन्हें बलात्कार का दोषी पाया। जेल में रहते हुए उन्होंने अच्छे काम किए। इसलिए उन्हें तीन साल में ही रिहा कर दिया गया। माइक टाइसन ने 19 साल की उम्र से बॉक्सिंग शुरू कर दी थी। 1991 में इसी दिन पेरू में हैजे से 51 लोगों की मौत हुई। इसी दिन सोवियत संघ से आजादी के लिए यूरोपीय देश लिथुआनिया में मतदान हुआ।

1992 भारत के जाने माने मुक्केबाज विकास कृष्ण यादव का जन्म हरियाणा के भिवानी जिले के गांव सिंघवा खास में हुआ। इसी दिन अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप विदेशी पर्यटकों के लिए खुला।

1995 जानी मानी भारतीय महिला हाॅकी खिलाड़ी पूनम बारला का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी भारतीय गायिका जैस्मिन संडलास का जन्म हुआ।

1996 जानी मानी भारतीय बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी रितुपर्णा दास का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन आईबीएम के सुपर कंप्यूटर डीप ब्लू ने शतरंज में गैरी कास्परोव को हराया। गैरी कास्परोव चेस में वर्ल्ड चैंपियन रहे। 

1998 पर्यावरण सुधार कार्यक्रमों के लिए 35 देशों द्वारा ग्लोबल इनवायरमेंट फेसिलिटी पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समझौता हुआ। इसी दिन पाकिस्तानी प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ ने पाकिस्तान-2000 नामक कार्यक्रम की घोषणा की।

2001 होनोलूलू में अमेरिकी आणविक पनडुब्बी जापानी नौका से टकराई, 10 छात्र लापता हुए।

2003 नामीबिया ने पहला अंतरराष्ट्रीय वनडे मैच खेला।

2004 बगदाद में पुलिस स्टेशन के बाहर हुए कार बम विस्फोट में 45 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

2005 संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में भारतीय दावेदारी के समर्थन में डेमोक्रेट सांसद फ्रैंक पालोन ने अमेरिकी प्रतिनिधि सभा में विधेयक पेश किया। इसी दिन भारत के प्रख्यात लेखक गुलशेर खाँ शानी का निधन हुआ।

2006 इटली के ट्यूरिन में 20वें शीतकालीन ओलंपिक खेल शुरू हुए।

2008 श्रीलंका के उत्तर में सैनिकों व लिट्टे के बीच हुए संघर्ष में 50 तमिल विद्रोही मारे गये।

2009 सोमालिया तट पर भारत-रूस की नौसेनाओं का संयुक्त अभ्यास हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शास्त्रीय गायक पंडित भीमसेन जोशी को भारत रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया। 2009 में इसी दिन एक रूसी और अमेरिकी आधिकारिक उपग्रह की टक्कर के कारण साइबेरिया के ऊपर बड़ी मात्रा में अंतरिक्ष मलबा गिरा।

2010 पाकिस्तान के पेशावर जिले में खैबर दर्रा इलाके में एक आत्मघाती आतंकी बम विस्फोट से 13 पुलिस कर्मियों और 4 अधिकारियों की मौत हुई और दर्जनों लोग घायल हुए। इसी दिन फरवरी, पहले सप्ताह में, अफगान अधिकारियों ने हिंदू कुश पर्वत में सलांग दर्रे में हिमस्खलन से मारे गए लोगों के 150 शवों को निकाला।

2013 इलाहाबाद में कुंभ मेले के दौरान भगदड़ मचने से 36 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 40 से अधिक लोग घायल हो गए।

2014 यमन के राष्ट्रपति मंसूर हादी और देश के प्रमुख पार्टियों के कुछ प्रतिनिधियों के साथ यमन को छह क्षेत्रों वाले महासंघ के देश में परिवहन के रूप में स्वीकार करने के लिए सहमत हुए।

2016 कराची पाकिस्तान में फातिमा सुरैया बाजिया (1 सितंबर 1930 को रायचूर, हैदराबाद राज्य, ब्रिटिश भारत में जन्म) का निधन हुआ। वह पाकिस्तान की मशहूर उर्दू उपन्यासकार, नाटककार और नाटक लेखिका थीं। उनके साहित्यिक योगदान के लिए उन्हें जापान के सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार सहित देश और विदेश में विभिन्न पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया गया। बाजिया पाकिस्तान में सिंध प्रांत के मुख्यमंत्री की सलाहकार और पाकिस्तान की कला परिषद की प्रबंध समिति की सदस्य रहीं। 10 फरवरी 2016 को 85 वर्ष की आयु में कराची में उनक इंतकाल हुआ। इसी दिन दक्षिण कोरिया ने क्वांगम्योंग्सोंग-4 के प्रक्षेपण के जवाब में उत्तर कोरिया के साथ काएसोंग संयुक्त औद्योगिक परिसर के संचालन को रोकने का फैसला किया।

2018 हांगकांग में रूट 872 पर कॉव्लून मोटर बस डबल डेकर के पलट जाने से उन्नीस लोगों की मौत हो गई और 66 घायल हो गए।

2019 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 10 फरवरी को विश्व दलहन दिवस (संकल्प ए/आरईएस/73/251) के रूप में घोषित किया। यह दालों के महत्व, अधिक उपलब्धता, सहयोग के आदान प्रदान के बारे में है।

2021 ब्राजील के रियो डी जनेरियो में पारंपरिक कार्निवल को पहली बार कोरोना संक्रमण के कारण रद्द कर दिया गया।

2022 पटना में आयोजित राष्ट्रीय जनता दल (राजद) की राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में लालू प्रसाद अपने पुराने तेवर में नजर आए और विरोधियों पर जमकर निशाना दावा किया कि राजद से बड़ी औकात किसी पार्टी की नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि हमने सत्ता के लिए कभी सिद्धांतों से समझौता नहीं किया। राजद अध्यक्ष लालू प्रसाद की अध्यक्षता में हुई राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में लालू प्रसाद के पुत्र तेजप्रताप, तेजस्वी यादव, बड़ी बेटी मीसा भारती भी उपस्थित रहे। बैठक के बाद बताया गया कि 11 अक्टूबर को राजद की राष्ट्रीय परिषद की बैठक दिल्ली में होगी, जिसमें राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष का चयन भी किया जाएगा। बैठक के बाद पत्रकारों से चर्चा करते हुए राजद नेता अब्दुल बारी सिद्दीकी ने कहा कि 11 फरवरी से सदस्यता अभियान चलाया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि सभी राज्यों में पार्टी के सदस्य बनाए जाएंगे। लालू प्रसाद ने नीतीश कुमार पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि बिहार में शराबबंदी पूरी तरह फेल है। उन्होंने कहा कि बिहार में लॉ एंड ऑर्डर पूरी तरह चौपट है। बिहार विधान परिषद की 24 सीट पर होने वाले चुनाव को लेकर लालू ने कहा कि स्थानीय निकाय में अधिकांश लोग राजद के चुन कर आए हैं, इसलिए इस चुनाव में हम 80 प्रतिशत सीटों पर जीत दर्ज करेंगे। बैठक में तेजस्वी यादव ने कांग्रेस पर इशारों इशारों में निशाना साधते हुए कहा कि एक समय राजद राष्ट्रीय पार्टी थी लेकिन जब गठबंधन का दौर चला तो हमने गठबंधन किया। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा को रोकने के लिए अन्य दलों को बिहार में राजद का समर्थन करना चाहिए। राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी की बैठक में लालू प्रसाद के पुत्र तेजप्रताप, तेजस्वी यादव, बड़ी बेटी मीसा भारती भी उपस्थित रहे। इसी दिन दिल्ली में राज्यसभा में कांग्रेस ने आम बजट 2022-23 में गरीबों के हित के लिए कोई घोषणा नहीं होने का दावा करते हुए सरकार से प्रश्न किया, बजट में गरीबन का का बा? पार्टी ने यह भी कहा कि भले ही किसानों की आय दुगनी नहीं हो पायी हो किंतु कृषि की लागत अवश्य दुगनी हो गयी है। संसद के उच्च सदन में आम बजट 2022-23 पर चर्चा में भाग लेते हुए कांग्रेस की छाया वर्मा ने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति अभिभाषण पर धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव पर हुई चर्चा के जवाब में प्रधानमंत्री ने यह कहा था कि कांग्रेस ने मुंबई में ट्रेनों और बसों से प्रवासी मजदूरों को उनके घर भेजा, इसके कारण देश में कोरोना बढ़ा। कांग्रेस सदस्य ने सवाल किया कि लॉकडाउन के दौरान कौन सी ट्रेन और और कौन सी बस चल रही थी? उन्होंने कहा, इस तरह का असत्य वक्तव्य प्रधानमंत्री के मुंह से शोभा नहीं देता। वर्मा ने कहा कि बजट भाषण के दौरान सत्ता पक्ष के एक सदस्य ने यहां तक कह दिया कि देश को सही आजादी 2014 में मिली। उन्होंने कहा कि यह बात कहना देश के स्वाधीनता सेनानियों का अपमान है। वर्मा ने आरोप लगाया कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी उस समय तत्कालीन मध्य प्रदेश सरकार को गिराने और ‘नमस्ते ट्रंप’ में लगी हुई थी जिसके कारण देश में कोरोना फैला। उन्होंने कहा, कोरोना कांग्रेस पार्टी के कारण नहीं आया है। कांग्रेस नेता छाया वर्मा ने प्रधानमंत्री द्वारा उच्च सदन में कांग्रेस पर किए गए तीखे प्रहार का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि मोदी ने तमाम बातों के लिए कांग्रेस को जिम्मेदार ठहरा दिया किंतु क्या वह 2002 (गुजरात दंगों) को भूल गये? उन्होंने कहा कि उस समय गुजरात में भाजपा की सरकार थी और अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी देश के प्रधानमंत्री थे। वर्मा के अनुसार उस समय वाजपेयी ने कहा था, मैं जब विदेश जाऊंगा तो मुझे शर्म आएगी कि मेरे राज्य, मेरे देश में ऐसा हुआ है। छाया वर्मा ने कहा कि सत्ता पक्ष को पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री वाजपेयी से कुछ सीखना चाहिए। बजट की चर्चा करते हुए कांग्रेस सदस्य ने प्रश्न किया, बजट में गरीबन का का बा? हीरे की कीमत कम किए बा और आर्टिफिशियल ज्वैलरी की कीमत बढ़ाए बा। उन्होंने कहा कि हीरा अमीर आदमी पहनता है तथा इस बात को भी समझना चाहिए कि हीरे का व्यापार सबसे अधिक कहां होता है और गुजरात एवं सूरत से कौन आता है? उन्होंने कहा कि हर अखबार में जब महिलाओं से बलात्कार की खबरें छायी रहती हैं तो ऐसे में फिर बेटी पढ़ाओ, बेटी बचाओ नारे का क्या महत्व रह जाता है? उन्होंने कहा कि यदि सरकार इस दिशा में कुछ सार्थक करना ही चाहती है तो उसे राज्यों की विधानसभा एवं लोकसभा में महिलाओं को आरक्षण दिलवाने वाले विधेयक को अपने बहुमत के जरिये पारित करवाना चाहिए। छाया वर्मा ने कहा कि कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी पहले ही कह चुकी हैं कि उनकी पार्टी इस विधेयक का समर्थन करेगी। उन्होंने कोरोना काल में सेंट्रल विस्टा परियोजना के औचित्य पर सवाल उठाया। उन्होंने दावा किया कि देश में दो ही अमीर हुए है, एक तो सबसे धनी भारतीय जनता पार्टी और दूसरा उनके वो मित्र जिनके पास विश्व में सबसे अधिक संपत्ति है।

2023 भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने भारत में बीबीसी यानी ब्रिटिश ब्रॉडकास्टिंग कॉरपोरेशन पर पूर्ण प्रतिबंध लगाने की मांग करने वाली याचिका शुक्रवार, दस फरवरी को यह कहते हुए खारिज कर दी कि यह ‘पूरी तरह मिथ्या विचार है। जस्टिस संजीव खन्ना और जस्टिस एमएम सुंदरेश की पीठ ने हिंदू सेना के अध्यक्ष विष्णु गुप्ता और एक किसान बीरेंद्र कुमार सिंह की याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए यह आदेश पारित किया। पीठ ने कहा, रिट याचिका पूरी तरह से मिथ्या विचार है और इसमें कोई दम नहीं है, तदनुसार इसे खारिज किया जाता है। भारत और यहां की सरकार के मामले में बीबीसी के पक्षपाती होने का आरोप लगाते हुए याचिका में कहा गया है कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी पर इसका वृत्तचित्र भारत और इसके प्रधानमंत्री के वैश्विक उदय के खिलाफ गहरी साजिश का परिणाम है। शीर्ष अदालत ने तीन फरवरी को बीबीसी के वृत्तचित्र को प्रतिबंधित करने के सरकार के फैसले को चुनौती देने वाली अलग-अलग याचिकाओं पर केंद्र और अन्य पक्षों से जवाब मांगा था। जिन याचिकाकर्ताओं की याचिकाओं पर शीर्ष अदालत ने नोटिस जारी किये थे, उनमें वरिष्ठ पत्रकार एन राम, तृणमूल कांग्रेस सांसद महुआ मोइत्रा, वकील प्रशांत भूषण और वकील एमएल शर्मा शामिल हैं। सरकार ने 21 जनवरी को विवादास्पद वृत्तचित्र के लिंक साझा करने वाले कई यूट्यूब वीडियो और ट्विटर पोस्ट को ब्लॉक करने के निर्देश जारी किए थे।

2023 The Supreme Court of India on Friday, February 10, rejected a petition demanding a complete ban on BBC i.e. British Broadcasting Corporation in India, saying that it is a 'completely false idea'. A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice MM Sundaresh passed the order while hearing the petition of Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta and a farmer Birendra Kumar Singh. The bench said, the writ petition is completely misconceived and has no merit and is accordingly dismissed. Alleging BBC's bias towards India and its government, the petition said its documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the result of a deep-rooted conspiracy against India and its Prime Minister's global rise. The apex court had on February 3 sought response from the Center and other parties on separate petitions challenging the government's decision to ban the BBC documentary. The petitioners on whose petitions the apex court had issued notices include senior journalist N Ram, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, lawyer Prashant Bhushan and lawyer ML Sharma. The government had on January 21 issued instructions to block several YouTube videos and Twitter posts sharing links to the controversial documentary.
