619 तांग सम्राट गाओजू सहयोग से पूर्वी तुर्क प्रतिद्वंद्वियों ने एक चीनी महल में पश्चिमी तुर्किक खगनेट के एक खागान की हत्या कर दी गई। खागान मतलब शासक।

971 महमूद गजनवी या महमूद गजनी के नाम से सुप्रसिद्ध यामीन-उद-दावला अबुल-कासिम महमूद इब्न सेबक्तेगिन गजनी, अफगानिस्तान में जन्म हुआ। यह गजनवी साम्राज्य के शासक और सुल्तान हुए और 998 से 1030 तक शासन किया था। महमूद गजनवी मध्य अफगानिस्तान में केंद्रित गजनवी राजवंश का सफल शासक था जो पूर्वी ईरान में साम्राज्य विस्तार के लिए जाना जाता हैं। गजनवी तुर्क मूल का था और अपने समकालीन सल्जूक तुर्कों की तरह पूर्व में एक सुन्नी इस्लामी साम्राज्य बनाने में सफल हुआ।

1083 काएन, फ्रांस में फ्लैंडर्स की मटिल्डा या मटिल्डा ऑफ फ्लैंडर्स का निधन हुआ। मटिल्डा विलियम द कॉन्करर से विवाहोपरांत इंग्लैंड की रानी, नॉर्मंडी की डचेस थीं, फिर डची रहीं। नौ बच्चों की मां बनीं मटिल्डा। बच्चे वयस्क होने तक जीवित रहे, जिनमें दो राजा बने विलियम द्वितीय और हेनरी प्रथम।

1410 बिकाट्रे शांति संधि होने से आर्मग्नैक-बर्गंडियन गृह युद्ध स्थगित हो गया।

1534 सिखों के चौथे गुरु रामदास का जन्म लाहौर में हुआ। इनके बचपन का नाम जेठा था। इन्हें गुरु की पदवी 9 सितंबर 1574 को दी गई और जेठा से इनका नाम चौथे नानक के तौर पर गुरु राम दास कहा गया।

1712 सूरीनाम सरकार ने फ्रेंच अपहरणकर्ता जैक्स कसरर्ड को 682,800 डाॅलर की धनराशि दी।

1774 ब्रिटिश इंडिया के कमांडर-इन-चीफ रॉबर्ट क्लाइव ने इंग्लैंड में आत्महत्या की।

1795 कुराकाओ सरकार ने प्रचलित गुलामी कार्य या मुफ्त में सेवा लिए जाने से रविवार को छूट दी।

1834 एटलस नाम का जहाज भारतीय मजदूरों को लेकर मॉरीशस पहुंचा था। इसकी याद में वहां 2 नवंबर को अप्रवासी दिवस मनाया जाता है। मॉरीशस आज जो है, भारतीय मजदूरों के श्रम का नतीजा है। उन्होंने अपनी मेहनत से इस देश को नई पहचान और समृद्धि दी है। एटलस से जो मजदूर मॉरीशस पहुंचे थे, उनमें करीब 80 प्रतिशत बिहार से थे। उन्हें गिरमिटिया मजदूर कहा जाता था, यानी समझौते के आधार पर लाए गए मजदूर। इन्हें लाने का उद्देश्य था मॉरीशस को एक कृषि प्रधान देश के रूप में विकसित करना। अंग्रेज 1834 से 1924 के बीच भारत के हजारों मजदूरों को मॉरीशस ले गए। 1803 से 1815 के दौरान हुए युद्धों में ब्रिटेन इस द्वीप पर कब्जा पाने में कामयाब हुआ। भारतीय मूल के सर शिवसागर रामगुलाम की अगुआई में ही मॉरीशस को 1968 में आजादी मिली थी। राष्ट्रमंडल के तहत 1992 में यह गणतंत्र बना। राष्ट्रमंडल के सदस्य वह देश हैं जो कभी ब्रिटेन के गुलाम रहे। भारत भी राष्ट्रमंडल का सदस्य है।

1835 अमेरिका के मूल निवासियों के विभिन्न गुटों में फ्लोरिडा के ओसिओला में दूसरा सेमीनोले युद्ध शुरू हुआ। इसे फ्लोरिडा युद्ध भी कहते हैं।

1841 अफगानिस्तान में अकबर खान ने शाह शुजा के खिलाफ सफल विद्रोह किया। इसी दिन राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ की विचारधारा के पोषक अंग्रेजी पत्रकार अरुण शौरी का जन्म हुआ।

1852 फ्रेंकलिन पियर्स अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति बने।

1877 शियाओं के निजारी इस्माईली मत के आध्यात्मिक नेता आगा खाँ तृतीय मूल नाम, सुल्तान सर मुहम्मद शाह,48वें इमाम का जन्म कराची, पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1884 रोमानिया का शहर तिमिसोरा बिजली की रोशनी से प्रकाशित सड़कों के साथ यूरोप का पहला शहर बना।

1885 मराठी रंगमंच में क्रांतिकारी परिवर्तन लाने वाले प्रसिद्ध नाटककार अण्णा साहेब किर्लोस्कर का निधन हुआ।

1897 विख्यात भारतीय अभिनेता एवं फिल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक सोहराब मोदी का जन्म हुआ।

1907 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू की बहन जानी मानी लेखिका कृष्णा नेहरू हटीसिंह का जन्म इलाहाबाद में हुआ।

1914 रूस ने तुर्की के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1929 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चरित्र अभिनेता राम मोहन का जन्म हुआ।

1931 अमेरिकी रसायन कंपनी डूपोंट ने कृत्रिम रबर बनाने की घोषणा की।

1936 ब्रिटिश ब्रॉडकास्टिंग कॉर्पोरेशन, यानी बीबीसी ने 2 नवंबर 1936 को औपचारिक रूप से पहला टेलीविजन चैनल लॉन्च किया था और वह दुनिया की पहली नियमित टेलीविजन प्रसारण सेवा थी। यह इतनी लोकप्रिय हुई कि कई देशों ने इसका अनुसरण किया। बीबीसी की शुरुआत 1925 में एक प्राइवेट कंपनी के तौर पर हुई थी, लेकिन दो साल में ही यह एक पब्लिक कंपनी बन चुकी थी। यूं तो बीबीसी ब्रिटिश संसद के प्रति जवाबदेह है और सरकारी अनुदान से चलती है पर इसे पूरी आजादी मिली हुई है। ब्रिटिश शाही परिवार बीबीसी ट्रस्ट के 12 सदस्यों को नियुक्त करता है और यह ट्रस्ट ही बीबीसी के रोजमर्रा के कामकाज की निगरानी करता है।

1940 हिंदी की चर्चित, पुरस्कृत, बहुप्रतिष्ठित साहित्यकार ममता कालिया का जन्म हुआ।

1947 हरक्युलिस नामक संसार का सबसे बड़ा और भारी हवाई जहाज, जिसके पंखों की लंबाई 390 फीट 11 इंच थी, उसने 1947 में 2 नवंबर को अपनी एकमात्र उड़ान भरी। इसके चालक निर्माता और मालिक हाबर्ड ह्यूज थे।

1950 प्रख्यात ब्रिटिश लेखक और विचारक जॉर्ज बर्नार्ड शॉ का 97 साल की उम्र में निधन हुआ।

1951 मिस्र में ब्रिटेन के खिलाफ हुए प्रदर्शनों पर काबू पाने के लिए करीब छह हजार ब्रिटिश सैनिक पहुंचे।

1960 बाॅलीवुड सिनेमा के मशहूर संगीतकार अनु मलिक का जन्म हुआ।

1964 सऊदी अरब के शासक सऊद को परिजनों ने तख्तापलट कर अपदस्थ कर दिया गया, और उनके सौतेले भाई फैसल को उनके स्थान पर नियुक्त कर दिया।

1965 क्वेकर नॉर्मन मॉरिसन ने वियतनाम युद्ध में नेपलम नामक खतरनाक रसायन के इस्तेमाल का विरोध हुए अमेरिकी रक्षा विभाग पेंटागन के नदी प्रवेश द्वार के सामने खुद को आग लगा ली।

1965 हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता शाहरुख खान का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन अमेरिकी क्वेकर नॉर्मन मॉरिसन ने वियतनाम युद्ध में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका की भागीदारी का विरोध करने के लिए अमेरिकी रक्षा मंत्रालय पेंटागन के सामने खुद को आग लगा ली।

1967 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल मीता वशिष्ठ का जन्म पुणे में हुआ।

1980 जानी मानी अभिनेत्री एवं टेलीविजन एंकर रोशनी चोपड़ा का जन्म हुआ।

1981 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल ईशा देओल तख्तानी का जन्म हुआ।

1982 भारत के प्रसिद्ध पहलवान तथा कुश्ती के खिलाड़ी योगेश्वर दत्त का जन्म हुआ।

1984 अमेरिका में 1962 के बाद पहली बार एक महिला वेल्मा बारफिल्ड को फांसी की सजा दी गई।

1985 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल डायना पेंटी का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1986 लेबनान बंधक संकट में अमेरिकी बंधक डेविड जैकबसेन को 17 महीने की कैद के बाद बेरूत में रिहा कर दिया गया।

1988 मुख्यधारा के मीडिया का महत्वपूर्ण ध्यान आकर्षित करने वाला पहला इंटरनेट-वितरित कंप्यूटर वर्म मॉरिस वर्म, एमआईटी से लॉन्च किया गया। अमेरिका की कॉर्नेल यूनिवर्सिटी के एक स्टूडेंट रॉबर्ट मॉरिस ने कंप्यूटर वायरस का विकास किया। मॉरिस, कॉर्नेल विश्वविद्यालय में आने से पूर्व हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी से ग्रेजुएट हुए थे और पूरी यूनिवर्सिटी में उनकी पहचान टेक्नोलॉजी एक्सपर्ट के तौर पर थी। उन्हें कंप्यूटर ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम यूनिक्स में महारत हासिल थी। कॉर्नेल आने के बाद मॉरिस एक ऐसे प्रोग्राम पर काम करने लगे जो एक कंप्यूटर कृमि या वार्म की तरह इंटरनेट पर फैल सके। मॉरिस इसे एक प्रयोग के तौर पर करना चाहते थे। उन्होंने अपना प्रोग्राम बनाया और पकड़ में न आने के लिए एमआईटी के एक कंप्यूटर को हैक किया। इस कम्प्यूटर के जरिए 2 नवंबर 1988 को मॉरिस ने अपना ये प्रोग्राम रिलीज कर दिया। ये एक कंप्यूटर कृमि था, जो बिना किसी सॉफ्टवेयर के खुद से ही अपनी फोटोकॉपी कर कम्प्यूटर में फैल सकता था। जैसे ही ये प्रोग्राम रिलीज हुआ इंटरनेट से जुड़े हुए कम्प्यूटर धीरे-धीरे काम करना बंद करने लगे। अमेरिकी गुप्तचर एजेंसी एफबीआई के पास एक के बाद एक लगातार कॉल्स आने लगे। अगले 24 घंटे में 6 हजार लोगों ने एफबीआई के पास शिकायत की। अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा, हार्वर्ड, प्रिंसटन, जॉन हॉपकिन्स से लेकर अमेरिकी मिलिट्री के कंप्यूटरों ने भी काम करना बंद कर दिया।

1993 ऐथिकल हैकिंग एवं वेब सुरक्षा विशेषज्ञ, लेखक और टेक सिक्योरिटी कंपनी के मालिक त्रिशनीत अरोरा का जन्म लुधियाना में हुआ।

1994 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल प्रियाल गोर का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1999 पाकिस्तान के इस्लामाबाद में संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ और अमेरिकी केंद्रों पर अज्ञात लोगों ने रॉकेट से हमला किया। अमेरिकी राज्य हवाई के इतिहास में सबसे भयानक सामूहिक हत्याकांड में एक बंदूकधारी ने अपने कार्यस्थल पर आठ लोगों पर अंधाधुंध गोलीबारी कर 8 लोगों की हत्या कर दी।

2000 इरोम चानु शर्मिला ने पैरामिलिट्री सैनिकों द्वारा मणिपुर के 10 लोगों की हत्या के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन शुरू किया। आर्म्ड फोर्सेस स्पेशल पॉवर एक्ट अफ्सपा को रद्द करने की मांग के साथ शर्मिला ने 26 जुलाई 2016 को अपना अनशन खत्म किया। तब तक उनके नाम दो रिकॉर्ड दर्ज हो चुके थे। पहला, सबसे लंबी भूख हड़ताल का और दूसरा, सबसे ज्यादा बार जेल से रिहा होने का।

2002 मुफ्ती मोहम्मद सईद ने जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री का पद ग्रहण किया।

2005 गुलाम नबी आजाद जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री बने।

2007 इंटरनेशनल स्पेस स्टेशन पर खराब सोलर पंखों को ठीक करने के बाद डिस्कवरी के यात्री धरती पर सुरक्षित लौटे।

2008 केंद्र सरकार ने रिटायरमेंट के बाद पेंशन फंड से धन निकालने की सुविधा समाप्त की। इसी दिन लुईस हैमिल्टन ने फॉर्मूला वन ड्राइवर्स चैंपियनशिप जीती, फेलिप मस्सा को एक अंक से हराया। हैमिल्टन फॉर्मूला वन वर्ल्ड चैंपियन का खिताब जीतने के लिए इतिहास में अफ्रीकी विरासत का सबसे युवा और पहला अश्वेत ड्राइवर बना।

2012 भारतीय मूल के प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी गणितज्ञ श्रीराम शंकर अभयंकर का निधन हुआ।

2013 विंस्कॉन्सिन, अमेरिका में नौ स्काई ड्राइवर वाले दो विमान एक दूसरे से हवा में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गये। स्काई ड्राइवर अपने पैराशूट की मदद से बच गए और पायलटों हल्की चोटें आईं।

2014 पाकिस्तान के लाहौर में एक आत्मघाती बम विस्फोट से 60 लोग मारे गए 110 लोग घायल हुए। इसी दिन जर्मन-अमेरिकी व्यवसायी और परोपकारी हरमन सरकोव्स्की ने सिएटल सीहॉक्स के सह-संस्थापक, एवं शबताई तेवेथ, इजरायली इतिहासकार और लेखक का निधन हुआ।

2015 आंद्रेज सीचानोविकी, पोलिश चित्रकार, इतिहासकार और अकादमिक, माइक डेविस, वेल्श-अमेरिकी टेनिस खिलाड़ी और व्यवसायी, रॉय डोमेट, अंग्रेजी वैज्ञानिक और इंजीनियर एवं टॉमी ओवरस्ट्रीट, अमेरिकी गायक-गीतकार और गिटारवादक का निधन हुआ।

2016 शिकागो शावक ने विश्व सीरीज में क्लीवलैंड इंडियंस को हराया। 108 वर्षों के लंबे इंतजार मेजर लीग बेसबॉल में सफलता मिली।

2017 प्रसिद्ध गिनीयन राजनीतिज्ञ अबूबकर सोम्पारे का निधन हुआ।

2018 हांगकांग के प्रसिद्ध फिल्मकार रेमंड चाउ का निधन हुआ।

2019 वाल्टर मर्काडो, प्यूर्टो रिकान टेलीविजन व्यक्तित्व, ज्योतिषी, अभिनेता और नर्तक का निधन हुआ।

2021 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी राजनीतिज्ञ नील स्मिथ का निधन हुआ।

2022 अर्जेंटीना के प्रसिद्ध पियानोवादक और संगीतकार एटिलियो स्टैम्पोन का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन इथियोपियाई सरकार और टाइग्रे पीपुल्स लिबरेशन फ्रंट के बीच एक शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए, जिससे टाइग्रे युद्ध समाप्त हुआ।

619 A khagan of the Western Turkic Khaganate was assassinated in a Chinese palace by Eastern Turkic rivals in collaboration with Tang Emperor Gaozu. Khagan means ruler.

971 Yamin-ud-Dawla Abul-Qasim Mahmud Ibn Sebaktegin, better known as Mahmud Ghaznavi or Mahmud Ghazni, was born in Ghazni, Afghanistan. He was the ruler and Sultan of the Ghaznavid Empire and ruled from 998 to 1030. Mahmud Ghaznavi was a successful ruler of the Ghaznavid dynasty centered in central Afghanistan who is known for expanding his empire into eastern Iran. The Ghaznavids were of Turkic origin and, like their contemporary Seljuk Turks, succeeded in creating a Sunni Islamic empire in the east.

1083 Matilda of Flanders or Matilda of Flanders died in Caen, France. Matilda was Queen of England, Duchess of Normandy, then Duchy, by her marriage to William the Conqueror. Matilda became the mother of nine children. The children survived to adulthood, two of whom became kings, William II and Henry I.

1410 The Armagnac-Burgundian Civil War is postponed with the Peace of Bicêtre.

1534 Guru Ramdas, the fourth Sikh Guru, was born in Lahore. His childhood name was Jetha. He was given the title of Guru on 9 September 1574 and from the firstborn he was named Guru Ram Das as the fourth Nanak.

1834 A ship named Atlas reached Mauritius carrying Indian labourers. In memory of this, Immigrant Day is celebrated there on 2 November. What Mauritius is today is the result of the labor of Indian workers. With his hard work he has given a new identity and prosperity to this country. Among the workers who reached Mauritius from Atlas, about 80 percent were from Bihar. They were called indentured labourers, i.e. laborers brought on the basis of agreement. The purpose of bringing these was to develop Mauritius as an agricultural country. The British took thousands of laborers from India to Mauritius between 1834 and 1924. Britain succeeded in capturing this island in the wars between 1803 and 1815. Mauritius got independence in 1968 under the leadership of Sir Shivsagar Ramgoolam of Indian origin. It became a republic in 1992 under the Commonwealth. The members of the Commonwealth are those countries which were once slaves of Britain. India is also a member of the Commonwealth.

1835 The Second Seminole War begins in Osceola, Florida between various factions of Native Americans. It is also called Florida War.

1841 Akbar Khan successfully revolted against Shah Shuja in Afghanistan. On this day, English journalist Arun Shourie, who nurtured the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was born.

1931 American chemical company DuPont announced the creation of synthetic rubber.

1965 Quaker Norman Morrison sets himself on fire in front of the river entrance to the US Department of Defense Pentagon in protest of the use of the dangerous chemical napalm in the Vietnam War.

Robert Morris, a student of America's Cornell University, developed a computer virus. Morris graduated from Harvard University before coming to Cornell University and was recognized throughout the university as a technology expert. He had expertise in the computer operating system UNIX. After coming to Cornell, Morris started working on a program that could spread across the Internet like a computer worm. Morris wanted to do it as an experiment. He created his own program and hacked into an MIT computer to avoid detection. Through this computer, Morris released his program on 2 November 1988. This was a computer worm, which could spread itself in the computer by photocopying itself without any software. As soon as this program was released, computers connected to the Internet gradually started stopping working. The American intelligence agency FBI started receiving calls one after the other. In the next 24 hours, 6 thousand people complained to the FBI. Computers from the US space agency NASA, Harvard, Princeton, John Hopkins and the US military also stopped working.
