1936 जाने माने भारतीय कानूनविद और 29वें भारतीय मुख्य न्यायाधीश हुए आदर्श सेन आनंद का जन्म जम्मू में हुआ।

1939 भारत के 19वें सेनाध्यक्ष हुए जनरल वेद प्रकाश मलिक का जन्म डेरा इस्माइल खान, पाकिस्तान की धरती पर हुआ।

1940 विख्यात कानूनविद और भारत के 35वें प्रधान न्यायाधीश हुए रमेश चंद्र लाहौटी का जन्म गुना, मध्य प्रदेश में हुआ।

1942 हिंदी की प्रसिद्ध लेखिका, उपन्यासकार, कवयित्री तथा नारीवादी चिंतक और समाज सेविका प्रभा खेतान का जन्म हुआ।

1944 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान ब्रिटेन की सेना नीदरलैंड के वालचेरेन पहुंची।

1945 महाराष्ट्र में अंधश्रद्धा, अंधविश्वासों के खिलाफ जन जागरूकता के लिए जीवन समर्पित कर देने वाले, महाराष्ट्र अंधश्रद्धा निर्मूलन समिति के अध्यक्ष, फिजिशियन, लेखक, तर्कवादी और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता नरेंद्र अच्युत दाभोलकर का जन्म सतारा में हुआ। राष्ट्रयी स्वयं सेवक समर्थित कट्टरपंथी हिंदू धार्मिक धंधेबाजों ने 20 अगस्त 13 को दाभोलकर की हत्या कर दी।

1946 पश्चिम जर्मनी के राज्य निदरसचसेन का गठन किया गया।

1948 बरेली उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रसिद्ध भाजपा नेता एवं मोदी सरकार में संसदीय कार्य राज्यमंत्री संतोष गंगवार का जन्म हुआ।

1950 भारत में पहला भाप इंजन चितरंजन रेल कारखाने में बनाया गया।

1952 जय नारायण राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री बने। इसी दिन अमेरिका ने माइक कोडनेम वाला पहला बड़ा हाइड्रोजन बम परीक्षण किया।

1955 अमेरिका के कोलोराडो के ऊपर यूनाइटेड एयरलाइंस फ्लाइट 629 में लगेज में रखा बम फटने से 44 लोगों की मौत हुई।

1956 कर्नाटक, मध्य प्रदेश राज्य का गठन, केंद्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली केन्द्र शासित राज्य बनाया गया। इसी दिन बेजवाड़ा गोपाल रेड्डी आंध्र राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री पद से हटे और नीलम संजीव रेड्डी ने मुख्यमंत्री पद का पदभार ग्रहण किया। केरल एवं आंध्र प्रदेश राज्य की स्थापना की गई। हैदराबाद राज्य प्रशासनिक रूप से समाप्त किया गया। इसकी जगह आंध्र प्रदेश बना।

1956 एस. निजलिंगप्पा ने कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री और पंडित रविशंकर शुक्ल ने 1956 में मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री का पद ग्रहण किया।

1957 भारत की बड़ी ज्वैलरी कंपनी मालावार गोल्ड एवं डायमंड कंपनी के मालिक, अमीर कारोबारी व्यक्ति एमपी अहमद का जन्म कोझिकोड़ में हुआ।

1964 भारत के सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति मुकेश अंबानी की पत्नी नीता अंबानी  का जन्म था।

1965 1970 के दशक की हिंदी फिल्मों की लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री पद्मिनी कोल्हापुरे का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1966 हरियाणा एवं चण्डीगढ़ राज्य की स्थापना की गई।

1967 अमेरिकी अधिकारियों के अनुसार मादक पदार्थ मारिजुआना के उपयोग को लेकर देश के सामने समस्याएं बढ़ती जा रही हैं। नए आंकड़ों के अनुसार जिसमें बताया गया है कि अमेरिकी कर्मचारी किसी अन्य अपराध की तुलना में मारिजुआना धूम्रपान के लिए कोर्ट मार्शल का सामाना कर रहे हैं और सैन डिएगो कैलिफोर्निया में एक पुलिस अधिकारी ने कहा कि सभी उच्च विद्यालय छात्रों का 25 प्रतिशत छात्र धूम्रपान और मारिजुआना का सेवन करते हैं।

1972 हिमाचल में कांगड़ा जिले के तीन जिले कांगड़ा, ऊना तथा हमीरपुर बनाए गए।

1973 मैसूर का नाम बदलकर कर्नाटक किया गया। इसी दिन 1973 में भारतीय अभिनेत्री एवं पूर्व मिस वर्ल्ड ऐश्वर्या राय का जन्म हुआ। 1973 में इसी दिन भारतीय अभिनेत्री रूबी भाटिया का जन्म हुआ।

1973 बाॅलीवुड फिल्मों की बोल्ड, खूबसूरत चरित्र अभिनेत्री, माॅडल, कारोबारी, फिल्म निर्मात्री टिस्का चोपड़ा का जन्म कसौली, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ।

1974 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी वीवीएस लक्ष्मण का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ। इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने पूर्वी भूमध्यसागरीय देश सायप्रस की स्वतंत्रता को मान्यता दी।

2022 चंडीगढ़ में एमबीबीएस स्टूडेंट ने सरकार की पीजीआई के बॉन्ड पॉलिसी के विरोध में प्रदर्शन किया। सरकार द्वारा लागू की गई पॉलिसी के तहत छात्रों को प्रति वर्ष करीब सवा 9 लाख रुपए जमा कराने होंगे। छात्रों को 80 हजार रुपए फीस देनी होती है। हर छात्र को पढ़ाई के लिए हर साल 10 लाख रुपए देने होंगे। छात्रों का कहना है कि जब हम मेहनत करके रैंक लेकर आएं है तो 40 लाख रुपए क्यों दें ? इसी दिन देवसंस्कृति विश्वविद्यालय शांतिकुंज के छठे दीक्षांत समारोह में बतौर मुख्य अतिथि लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ओम बिडला एवं देवसंस्कृति विश्वविद्यालय के कुलाधिपति डॉ प्रणव पण्ड्या ने 2661 विद्यार्थियों को उपाधि प्रदान कीं। 2017 से 2022 तक के सर्टिफिकेट, डिप्लोमा, ग्रेजुएट, पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट के विभिन्न पाठ्यक्रमों के उत्तीर्ण विद्यार्थी हैं। इनमें पीएचडी के 72, पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट के 941, ग्रेजुएट 1157, डिप्लोमा के 187, सर्टिफिकेट कोर्स के 304 युवा शामिल हैं। बताया गया कि देसंविवि के छठवें दीक्षांत समारोह में डिग्री पाने वाले युवाओं में 60 प्रतिशत से अधिक छात्राएँ हैं।

2022 MBBS students in Chandigarh protested against the government's PGI bond policy. Under the policy implemented by the government, students will have to deposit about Rs 9.25 lakh every year. Students have to pay a fee of Rs 80 thousand. Every student will have to pay Rs 10 lakh every year for studies. Students say that when we have achieved rank by working hard then why pay Rs 40 lakh? On the same day, in the sixth convocation ceremony of Devsanskrit University Shantikunj, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Chancellor of Devsanskrit University Dr Pranab Pandya, as chief guests, awarded degrees to 2661 students. Students have passed various Certificate, Diploma, Graduate, Post Graduate courses from 2017 to 2022. These include 72 youth from PhD, 941 from Post Graduate, 1157 from Graduate, 187 from Diploma and 304 from Certificate course. It was told that more than 60 percent of the youth who received degrees in the sixth convocation ceremony of the university were girls.
