42 ईसा पूर्व रोम, इटली में टैबीरियस सीजर ऑगस्टस का जन्म हुआ। 14 से 37 ईस्वी तक शासन करने वाला दूसरा रोमन सम्राट बना। टैबीरियस को सत्ता अपने सौतेले पिता ऑगस्टस से प्राप्त हुई। राजा बनने से पूर्व टैबीरियस सर्वाधिक शक्तिशाली रोमन जनरल चुका था, कई सफल सैन्य अभियान पूरे किए, पनोनिया, डालमशिया, रेशिया, और जर्मनिया के कुछ हिस्सों पर विजय प्राप्त कर उत्तरी सीमा की नींव रखी थी। विरोधियों से सख्ती से निपटा।

951 सम्राट ली जिंग ने कमांडर बियान हाओ के नेतृत्व में 10000 लड़ाके - दक्षिणी तांग अभियान सेना और विजय के बाद ली जिंग ने चू साम्राज्य को समाप्त कर शासक परिवार को नानजिंग में सत्ता से बेदखल कर दिया।

1131 कीव, यूक्रेन में कीव की डोब्रोडिया मस्टीस्लावना (सह-सम्राट एलेक्सियोस कॉमनेनोस से विवाह के बाद बीजान्टिन साम्राज्ञी) थी। डोब्रोडिया मस्टीस्लावना चिंतक, खोजी और और चिकित्सा विषयक लेखिका थीं।

1272 नौवें धर्मयुद्ध के दौरान यात्रा करते समय इंग्लैंड के हेनरी तृतीय की मृत्यु के बाद प्रिंस एडवर्ड को अगला राजा नियुक्त कर दिया था, लेकिन युद्धरत एडवर्ड सिंहासन संभालने के लिए वह लगभग दो साल तक इंग्लैंड नहीं लौट पाए।

1846 राजनीतिक, सामाजिक और धार्मिक विसंगतियों पर तीखे तंज कसने वाले प्रख्यात उर्दू शायर अकबर इलाहबादी यानी सय्यद अकबर हुसैन का जन्म हुआ।

1849 बौड़म, अपराध और दंड जैसे कई विश्व चर्चित उपन्यास लिखने वाले विश्व प्रसिद्ध रूसी लेखक फ्योदोर दोस्तोविस्की को एक भूमिगत संगठन का सदस्य होने के आरोप में मौत की सजा सुनाई गई थी। इससे पहले उन्हें साइबेरिया में निर्वासित कर दिया गया था।

1857 पासी जाति से सम्बंधित एक वीरांगना ऊदा देवी का निधन हुआ।

1870 ओकलाहोमा अमेरिका का 46वां राज्य बना।

1880 ब्रिटिश लेखक, कवि और नाटककार अलफ्रेड नॉयस का जन्म हुआ।

1889 पिट्सबर्ग, पेंसिल्वेनिया, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका जॉर्ज साइमन कॉफमैन का जन्म हुआ जो विख्यात अमेरिकी नाटककार, थिएटर निर्देशक और निर्माता, हास्यकार और नाटक समीक्षक थे। हास्य और राजनीतिक व्यंग्य के अलावा, उन्होंने मार्क्स ब्रदर्स और अन्य लोगों के लिए कई संगीत पेश किए।

1915 अमेरिका में गदर पार्टी के संस्थापकों में से एक, विख्यात भारतीय क्रांतिकारी करतार सिंह सराभा को ब्रिटिश सरकार ने 19 साल की उम्र में उनके अन्य साथियों के साथ लाहौर में फांसी की सजा दी। करतार का जन्म 24 मई 1896 में लुधियाना जिले के सराभा गांव में हुआ था। शहीदे-आज़म भगत सिंह को करतार सिंह अपना आदर्श और पथप्रदर्शक मानते थे।

1923 बीसवीं सदी के तेलुगू सिनेमा के प्रमुख व्यक्तित्व, अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक तदेपल्ली लक्ष्मी कांता राव का जन्म कोडड आंध्र प्रदेश में हुआ।

1927 हिंदी फिल्मों के प्रसिद्ध चरित्र अभिनेता डाॅ. श्रीराम लागू का जन्म हुआ।

1930 इंग्लिश चैनल पार करने वाले पहले भारतीय और एशियाई तैराक मिहिर सेन का जन्म हुआ। 1958 में उन्होंने इंग्लिश चैनल पार किया था। 1966 में वे हर महाद्वीप के वॉटर चैनल को तैरकर पार करने वाले पहले तैराक बने।

1931 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेट अंपायर आर. रामचंद्र राव का जन्म हुआ।

1935 नजफ, इराक में अयातुल्ला मोहम्मद हुसैन फदलल्लाह लेबनान का जन्म हुआ। अयातुल्ला लेबनान के सर्वोच्च आध्यात्मिक शिया नेता, 1982 में चरमपंथी संगठन हिज्बुल्लाह के संस्थापक, इस्लाम में शिया संप्रदाय में उदारवाद के प्रबल पैरोकार, इस्लामिक जगत के प्रतिष्ठित नेता हुए।

1946 अमरीकी वैज्ञानिकों ने वातावरण में कारबोनिक गैस के तत्व छिड़ककर पहली बार कृत्रिम वर्षा करने में सफलता प्राप्त की।

1947 टोक्यो के सईतामा में आये चक्रवाती तूफान कैथलीन से 1,930 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

1986 न्यू हाइड पार्क, न्यूयॉर्क, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में उमर मीर सेद्दीक मतीन का जन्म हुआ। उमर अमेरिकी आतंकवादी और सामूहिक हत्यारा हुआ जिसने 12 जून, 2016 को फ्लोरिडा के ऑरलैंडो में पल्स नाइट क्लब में सामूहिक गोलीबारी में 49 लोगों की हत्या कर की और 53 अन्य को घायल कर दिया था। वह 12 जून, 2016 को स्थानीय पुलिस के साथ मुठभेड़ में मारा गया।

1988 पाकिस्तान में 11 साल बाद हुए आम चुनाव में बेनजीर भुट्टो पाकिस्तान की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री बनी। उनके पिता प्रधानमंत्री जुल्फिकार अली भुट्टो को सैनिक तानाशाह मोहम्मद जिया उल हक ने 4 अप्रैल 1979 को फांसी लगवा दी थी। विरोधियों ने बेनजीर की भी एक सभा के दौरान 7 दिसंबर 2007 को हत्या कर दी।

1990 कर्नाटक में भाजपा के युवा, तेज-तर्रार, विवादित और घोर सांप्रदायिक नेता तेजस्वी सूर्या का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1992 इंग्लैंड के सफोल्क में, एक शौकिया धातु खोजी ने चौथी एवं पांचवीं शताब्दी के सोने, चांदी और कांस्य के सबसे बड़े सिक्कों के खजाने की खोज की।

2002 जनरल मोहम्मद परवेज मुशर्रफ ने पांच साल के दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए राष्ट्रपति पद की शपथ ली।

2005 अंग्रेजी सामाजिक, पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता डोनाल्ड वॉटसन, वेगन सोसाइटी के संस्थापक, राल्फ एडवर्ड्स, अमेरिकी रेडियो और टेलीविजन होस्ट और निर्माता एवं हेनरी ताउबे, कनाडाई-अमेरिकी रसायनज्ञ और अकादमिक, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता का निधन हुआ।

2006 मिल्टन फ्रीडमैन, अमेरिकी अर्थशास्त्री और अकादमिक, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2006 में पाकिस्तान ने मध्यम दूरी के गौरी मिसाइल का सफल परीक्षण किया। इसी दिन पूरे एक वर्ष के लिए प्रतिबंधित किए जाने के बाद चीन सरकार ने विकिपीडिया की वेबसाइट को अनब्लॉक किया।

2007 बंगाल की खाड़ी से उठे भीषण चक्रवाती तूफान सीडर ने बांग्ला देश में भीषण तबाही मचाई। इसी दिन वन टू गो एयरलांइस का विमान थाईलैंड में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होने से 89 लोगों की मौत हुई।

2008 चंद्रयान के लूनर लेजर रेजिंग उपकरण ने सफलतापूर्वक काम करना शुरू किया।

2013 वाशिंगटन में एक बंदूकधारी ने नौसेना के एक शिविर में 12 लोगों की गोली मारकर हत्या की। इसी दिन 2013 में मुंबई में सचिन तेंदुलकर के क्रिकेट से संन्यास लेने के संकल्प के बाद ही भारत सरकार ने भी देश के सबसे बड़े नागरिक सम्मान भारत रत्न देने की आधिकारिक घोषणा कर दी। 40 वर्ष की आयु मे इस सम्मान को प्राप्त करने वाले वे सबसे कम उम्र के व्यक्ति और सर्वप्रथम खिलाड़ी हैं। इससे पहले यह सम्मान खेल के क्षेत्र में नहीं दिया गया। सचिन को यह सम्मान देने के लिए पहले नियमों में बदलाव किया गया था। पूंजीवादियों ने सचिन को क्रिकेट का भगवान कहा। हालांकि पिछले दिनों आए पेंडोरा पेपर से पता चला कि टैक्स चोरी कर काला धन विदेशों में रखने वालों में सचिन भी शामिल हैं।

2014 इस्लामिक स्टेट ने सीरियाई कुर्दिश लड़ाकों के खिलाफ युद्ध छेड़ा।

2017 जर्मनी में संयुक्त राष्ट्र की जनवायु परिवर्तन संबंधी समिति की बैठक में 19 देशों ने कोयले के इस्तेमाल कम करने की प्रतिज्ञा ली।

2021 जिरकी कासवी फिनिश पत्रकार और राजनीतिज्ञ का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन अफगानिस्तान की तालिबान सरकार ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र से काबुल में नए शासन को मान्यता देने का आग्रह करते हुए कहा है कि तालिबान संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका सहित सभी देशों के साथ सकारात्मक संबंध रखना चाहता है। कतर की राजधानी दोहा स्थित अफगानिस्तान सरकार के प्रतिनिधि और आधिकारिक प्रवक्ता सुहैल शाहीन ने 16 नवंबर को सिलसिलेवार ट्वीट्स कर कहा कि तालिबान द्वारा काबुल के अधिग्रहण ने अफगानिस्तान में निवेश और संयुक्त उद्यमों का एक नया चरण खोल दिया है। प्रवक्ता शाहीन ने आगे कहा कि तालिबान शासन दोहा समझौते का पालन कर रहा है और सरकार अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवादी संगठनों को अपनी धरती पर काम नहीं करने देगा। यह कहते हुए कि तालिबान लोगों की आकांक्षाओं का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है, उन्होंने दावा किया कि तालिबान को अफगान राष्ट्र का समर्थन प्राप्त है और उसने पूरे अफगानिस्तान में अपना अधिकार स्थापित कर लिया है। शाहीन के मुताबिक, तालिबान सरकार ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र का सदस्य बनने के मानदंडों को पूरा किया है। उन्होंने कहा, हमें उम्मीद है कि कानूनी आवश्यकताएं राजनीतिक प्राथमिकताओं को पीछे छोड़ देंगी।

2022 प्रसिद्ध फ्रांसीसी-अमेरिकी अभिनेता और लेखक रॉबर्ट क्लैरी का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2022 में आर्टेमिस कार्यक्रम के तहत अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा ने स्पेस लॉन्च सिस्टम की पहली उड़ान में आर्टेमिस 1 लॉन्च किया, यह चंद्रमा पर कार्यक्रम के भविष्य के अमेरिकी मिशन की शुरुआत है। इसी दिन बीते दिनों पंजाब के रूपनगर जिले में एक 13 वर्षीय लड़के के गले में चीनी मांझा फंसने से हुई उसकी मौत के बाद पंजाब के राज्य मंत्री गुरमीत सिंह हेयर ने राज्य के सभी उपायुक्तों से ऐसे मांझा बेचने वालों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई करने को कहा। मंत्री हेयर ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने इस दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना को गंभीरता से लिया है और ऐसे लोगों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई करने का आदेश दिया है जो मानव जीवन को खतरे में डालते हैं। 16 नवंबर को जारी एक बयान में हेयर ने कहा कि चीनी मांझे से बच्चे, बुजुर्ग और जानवर पहले भी पीड़ित हो चुके हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य में चीनी मांझे की बिक्री और उपयोग पर पूरी तरह से प्रतिबंध है और राज्य में एक भी निर्माण इकाई नहीं है, लेकिन कुछ लोगों ने इस मांझे को दूसरे राज्यों से खरीदा है। उन्होंने कहा कि जो भी चीनी मांझे की बिक्री में संलिप्त पाया जाएगा, उसे किसी भी कीमत पर बख्शा नहीं जाएगा। मालूम हो कि कांच की परत चढ़ाकर बनाए जाने वाले चीनी मांझे ने बीते समय में राज्य और अन्य जगहों पर कई लोगों की जान ली है। दिल्ली, हरियाणा, पंजाब, राजस्थान, उत्तर प्रदेश आदि में अनेक दुर्घटनाएं चीनी माझे से हो चुकी हैं।

Omar was an American terrorist and mass murderer who killed 49 people and injured 53 others in a mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida on June 12, 2016. He was killed in an encounter with local police on June 12, 2016.

1988 Benazir Bhutto became the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan in the general elections held after 11 years.
