165 ईसा पूर्व मथाथियास बेन जोहानन का निधन हुआ। वह कोहेन (यहूदी पुजारी) थे जिन्होंने हेलेनिस्टिक सेल्यूसिड साम्राज्य के खिलाफ मैकाबीन विद्रोह संगठित और प्रेरित किया। मथाथियास की कहानी 1 मैकाबीज की ड्यूटेरोकैनोनिकल पुस्तक में दर्ज है, मथाथियास हनुक्का की कहानी में एक केंद्रीय भूमिका में है और अल हनिसिम प्रार्थना में रखा गया है, जिसे यहूदी त्योहार के आठ दिनों के दौरान बिरकत हमाजोन (भोजन के बाद अनुग्रह) और अमिदा में स्मरण किया जाता है।

621 सेंट मालो का निधन हुआ। मालो छठी शताब्दी के मध्य में फ्रांस के ब्रिटनी में एक कम्यून सेंट-मालो के संस्थापक वेल्श थे। वह ब्रिटनी के सात संस्थापक संतों में से एक थे।

459 माया साम्राज्य के राजा हुए बुत्ज अज साक चिइक का जन्म हुआ।

1315 पुरातन स्विस संघ के विस्तार के सिलसिले में मोर्गार्टन की लड़ाई में श्वाइजर ईडगेनोसेंसचाफ्ट ने लियोपोल्ड प्रथम की सेना पर घात लगाकर हमला किया।

1315 स्विस कॉन्फेडेरसी के डेढ़ हजार सैनिकों ने रोमन साम्राज्य के ऑस्ट्रियाई सैनिकों पर घात लगाकर हमला किया।

1316 फ्रांस और नवरे के राजा हुए जॉन प्रथम का जन्म हुआ।

1533 फ्रांसिस्को पिजारो इंका साम्राज्य की राजधानी कुज्को पहुंचे।

1630 प्रसिद्ध जर्मन खगोलविद युहान केपलर का 59 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ। उपग्रहों की चाल के बारे में केपलर कानून तथा मंगलग्रह द्वारा अपनी कक्षा में अंडाकर चक्कर की खोज उन्ही के अध्ययन का परिणाम है।

1705 राकोस्जी के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में हैब्सबर्ग साम्राज्य और डेनमार्क ने जिबो युद्ध में हंगरी के कुरुक्स पर सैन्य विजय प्राप्त की।

1760 आंतरिक चैपल ऑफ सॉरोज समर्थित वेलेटा में दूसरी बार निर्मित कैस्टेलानिया का आधिकारिक तौर पर उद्घाटन किया गया।

1777 अमेरिकी क्रांतिकारी युद्ध में 16 महीने की बहस के बाद महाद्वीपीय कांग्रेस ने परिसंघ के लेखों को मंजूरी दी।

1806 लेफ्टिनेंट जेबुलोन पाइक ने रॉकी पर्वत की कोलोराडो तलहटी के पास एक पर्वत शिखर की खोज की। बाद में लेफ्टिनेंट जेबुलोन पाइक के सम्मान में इसका नाम पाइक्स पीक रखा गया।

1830 प्रख्यात भारतीय समाज सुधारक राजा राम मोहन राय इंग्लैंड के लिए रवाना हुए।

1859 व्यवसायी इवेंजेलोस जप्पा द्वारा प्रायोजित, ओलंपिक खेलों का पहला आधुनिक खेल यूनान की राजधानी एथेंस में हुआ।

1866 भारत की प्रथम महिला बैरिस्टर, बंबई विवि से ग्रेजुएशन करने वाली पहली महिला, आक्सफोर्ड विवि लंदन में पढ़ने जाने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला, लेखिका, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता कार्नेलिया सोराबजी का जन्म हुआ।

1875 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय आदिवासी स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी और प्रमुख आदिवासी अधिकारवादी नेता बिरसा मुंडा का जन्म हुआ।

1884 अफ्रीका महाद्वीप में यूरोपीय देशों के लिए उपनिवशों को बांटने के लिए जर्मनी की राजधानी बर्लिन में कॉन्फ्रेंस आरंभ हुई।

1905 किंग कैंप जिलेट को अमेरिकी पेटेंट कार्यालय ने सेफ्टी रेजर का पेटेंट दिया। इस तरह दुनिया के सामने पहली बार दोनों तरफ धार वाला शेविंग ब्लेड आया।

1923 जर्मनी में मुद्रा स्फीती की दर अत्यधिक उच्चतम स्तर पर जा पहुँची।

1931 भारत के सबसे बड़े रियल स्टेट कारोबारी, डीएलएफ ग्रुप के मुखिया कुशल पाल सिंह का जन्म बुलंदशहर में हुआ।

1937 विख्यात छायावादी हिंदी कवि, साहित्यकार जयशंकर प्रसाद का निधन हुआ। 1937 में इसी दिन हिंदी के प्रसिद्ध उपन्यासकार, नाटककार, निबंधकार तथा कुशल समालोचक रमेश चंद्र शाह का जन्म हुआ।

1943 जर्मन होलोकॉस्ट प्रोग्राम के मुखिया हेनरिक हिमलर ने, सभी जिप्सी के साथ-साथ मिश्रित जिप्सियों को यहूदियों के साथ काल कोठरियों में रखने का आदेश दिया। हिमलर एडोल्फ हिटलर का खास सहयोगी और यहूदियों के संहार का प्रमुख कर्ता-धर्ता हुआ।

1947 विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन संयुक्त राष्ट्र का विशिष्ट अभिकरण बन गया।

1947 1970 के दशक की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री विद्या सिन्हा का जन्म हुआ। उन्होंने अमोल पालेकर के साथ छोटी सी बात, रजनीगंधा आदि फिल्मों में और संजीव कुमार के साथ पति, पत्नी और वह आदि में यादगार अभिनय किया। इसी दिन फिलिस्तीन से ब्रिटिस सेना की वापसी आरंभ हुई।

1949 महात्मा गांधी के हत्यारे नाथूराम गोडसे और नारायण दत्तात्रेय आप्टे को फाँसी दी गई।

1955 पोलैंड और यूगोस्लाविया के बीच व्यापार समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

1956 जूनियर महमूद के नाम से मशहूर विख्यात मराठी फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक, गायक नईम सईद का जन्म हुआ।

1961 संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने परमाणु हथियारों पर रोक लगाई।

1961 भारत में विधायक निर्वाचित होने वाले पहले वामपंथी नेता बंकिम मुखर्जी का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन शिवसेना के राज्य सभा सांसद, मुखर नेता और मोदी सरकार की साजिशों से 100 से अधिक दिनों तक अनावश्यक जेल में रहने वाले संजय राउत का जन्म अलीबाग महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

1971 दिग्गज कंपनी इंटेल ने दुनिया का पहला सिंगल चिप माइक्रोप्रोसेसर इंटेल 4004 लॉन्च किया।

1977 राजकुमारी ऐन ने पुत्र को जन्म दिया। ब्रिटिश राजशाही के 500 वर्ष से भी अधिक के इतिहास में ऐसा पहली बार हुआ कि एक शाही बच्चे का जन्म एक सामान्य व्यक्ति के घर में हुआ।

1979 जानी मानी भारतीय महिला राष्ट्रीय हॉकी खिलाड़ी सुमराइ टेटे का जन्म हुआ।

1982 भूदान आंदोलन के प्रणेता सर्वोदयी आचार्य विनायक नरहरि भावे उर्फ विनोबा भावे का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन पंजाब के लुधियाना में जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल दलजीत कौर का जन्म हुआ।

1983 जाने माने टेलीविजन अभिनेता एवं माॅडल शालीन भनोट का जन्म जबलपुर में हुआ। उपर्युक्त दलजीत कौर 2009 से 2015 तक इनकी पत्नी रहीं।

1985 कोलंबियाई शहर अर्मेरो में एक ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट से करीब 20,000 लोगों की मौत हुई और हजारों लोगों को पलायन करना पड़ा। पीड़ितों की मदद के लिए सैन्य सहायता और रेड क्रॉस के सदस्यों को आपातकालीन आपूर्ति के साथ भेजा गया। 1985 में इसी दिन ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री मार्गरेट थैचर और आयरिश ताओसीच गैरेट फिट्जगेराल्ड ने हिल्सबोरो कैसल में एंग्लो-आयरिश शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1986 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय टेनिस खिलाड़ी सानिया मिर्जा का जन्म हुआ।

1988 फिलिस्तीन मुक्ति संगठन या पैलेस्टाइन लिबरेशन आॅर्गेनाइजेशन के अध्यक्ष यासर अराफात ने फिलिस्तीन को स्वतंत्र राष्ट्र घोषित किया।

1989 पाकिस्तान के कराची में वकार यूनुस और सचिन तेंदुलकर ने टेस्ट क्रिकेट में पदार्पण किया।

1994 लोकप्रिय गुजराती फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल आरोही पटेल का जन्म अहमदाबाद में हुआ।

1996 भारत के प्रसिद्ध कवि, कथाकार और एकांकीकार आरसी प्रसाद सिंह का निधन हुआ।

1998 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन ने अपना एशियाई देशों भारत एवं पाकिस्तान का दौरा रद्द किया। इसी दिन इराक ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के हथियार निरीक्षकों को अपने यहां आने की इजाजत दी।

2000 फिजी में हुआ तख्ता पलट अवैध घोषित किया गया। इसी दिन झारखंड राज्य सन 2000 में भारत का 28वां राज्य बना।

2003 तुर्की के इस्ताम्बुल शहर में यहूदियों के प्रार्थना स्थल के पास हुए बम विस्फोट में 16 लोगों की मृत्यु और 150 घायल।

2004 ऑस्ट्रेलिया के नामकरण की दो सौवीं वर्षगांठ मनाई गई और इसी दिन अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्री कोलिन पावेल ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2006 अल जजीरा इंग्लिश ने दुनिया भर में अल जजीरा इंग्लिश प्रसारण शुरु किया। अल जजीरा यानी द पेनिनसुला 24 घंटे का अंग्रेजी भाषा का समाचार चैनल है। यह अल जजीरा मीडिया नेटवर्क के स्वामित्व में संचालित होता है, जो कतर सरकार द्वारा वित्त पोषित है। यह पहला अंग्रेजी भाषा का समाचार चैनल है जिसका मुख्यालय पश्चिमी एशिया में क़तर की राजधानी दोहा में स्थित है। अल जजीरा 150 से अधिक देशों और क्षेत्रों में प्रसारण करता है, और इसके 430 मिलियन से अधिक लोगों का एक बड़ा वैश्विक दर्शक वर्ग है। अल जजीरा अपनी गहन और अग्रिम पंक्ति की रिपोर्टिंग के लिए जाना जाता है, खासकर संघर्ष क्षेत्रों में। अरब स्प्रिंग, गाजा-इजराइल संघर्ष और अन्य जैसी घटनाओं की गहन कवरेज के लिए इसकी प्रशंसा की गई है। इसने सांप्रदायिक मामलों और जनआंदोलनों को खूब कवर किया है। अल जजीरा के अरब स्प्रिंग के कवरेज ने नेटवर्क को पीबॉडी अवार्ड सहित कई पुरस्कार जीते हैं। इसकी जनपक्षीय रिपोर्टिंग ने अनेक सरकारों को असहज किया है।

2007 चिली में 7.7 तीव्रता का भीषण भूकम्प आया। इसी दिन एरियाना-5 रॉकेट ने ब्रिटेन व ब्राजील के दूरसंचार उपग्रहों को अंतरिक्ष में स्थापित किया।

2008 भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के पूर्व गर्वनर वाई वेणुगोपाल रेड्डी को वैश्विक वित्तीय प्रणाली में सुधार की जाँच के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा गठित टास्क फोर्स में शामिल किया गया। इसी दिन योगेंद्र मकबाना ने राष्ट्रीय बहुजन कांग्रेस के नाम से नई पार्टी बनाई।

2012 दस साल तक पद पर रहने के बाद कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ चाइना के महासचिव हू जिंताओ ने पद छोड़ा और उनकी जगह शी जिनपिंग महासचिव बने। 2012 में इसी दिन के.सी. पंत, भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ, 18वें भारतीय रक्षा मंत्री का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन फ्रोड थिंगनस, नॉर्वेजियन ट्रॉम्बोनिस्ट, संगीतकार और कंडक्टर का निधन हुआ।

2013 शीला मैथ्यूज एलन, अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री और निर्माता, ग्लैफकोस क्लेराइड्स, साइप्रस के वकील और राजनीतिज्ञ, साइप्रस के चैथे राष्ट्रपति एवं माइक मैककॉर्मैक, अमेरिकी फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी और कोच का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2013 में नासिक, महाराष्ट्र में एक ट्रेन के पटरी से उतर जाने के कारण 5 लोग मारे गए और 10 लोग घायल हुए। इसी दिन मथुरा के प्रसिद्ध संत और विख्यात प्रेम मंदिर का निर्माण कराने वाले कृपालु महाराज का निधन हुआ। 2013 में इसी दिन सोनी ने प्लेस्टेशन 4 (पीए4) गेम कंसोल जारी किया।

2014 जैक ब्रिजर चाल्कर, अंग्रेजी चित्रकार और अकादमिक, लुसिएन क्लर्ग्यू, फ्रांसीसी फोटोग्राफर और शिक्षक, वैलेरी मेजैग, कैमरून के फुटबॉलर एवं रेग विदर्स, ऑस्ट्रेलियाई सैनिक और राजनीतिज्ञ, ऑस्ट्रेलियाई राजधानी क्षेत्र मंत्री का निधन हुआ।

2015 गिसेले प्रैसिनो, फ्रांसीसी लेखक, हर्बर्ट स्कार्फ, अमेरिकी अर्थशास्त्री और अकादमिक एवं सईद जाफरी, प्रसिद्ध भारतीय-ब्रिटिश अभिनेता का निधन हुआ।

2016 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी पियानोवादक और गीतकार मोसे एलिसन का निधन हुआ और इसी दिन 2016 में हांगकांग के उच्च न्यायालय ने निर्वाचित राजनेताओं याउ वाई-चिंग और बैगियो लेउंग को शहर की संसद से प्रतिबंधित कर दिया।

2017 लोकप्रिय अमेरिकी गायक और रैपर लिल पीप और साहित्य अकादमी और ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार प्राप्त प्रख्यात भारतीय हिंदी कवि कुंवर नारायण का निधन हुआ।

2019 पाकिस्तान ने बच्चों को टाइफाइड वैक्सीन देना शुरू की। ऐसा करने वाला वो दुनिया का पहला देश बना।

2020 प्रसिद्ध बांग्ला अभिनेता सौमित्र चटर्जी का निधन हुआ। 2020 में इसी दिन लुईस हैमिल्टन ने तुर्की ग्रां प्री जीता और माइकल शूमाकर के सर्वकालिक रिकॉर्ड की बराबरी करते हुए अपना सातवां ड्राइविंग खिताब हासिल किया।

2022 संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने जानकारी दी कि विश्व की जनसंख्या 8 अरब हो गई।
