1139 पुर्तगाली प्रिंस एफोनसो हेनरिक्स ने आउमेरिक की लड़ाई में अलमोरविद मूरों के खिलाफ युद्ध में अपने सैनिकों का नेतृत्व किया।

1261 एलेक्सियोस स्ट्रेटेजोपोलस ने कॉन्स्टेंटिनोपल बीजेंटाइन साम्राज्य को फिर से स्थापित करने तथा लैटिन साम्राज्य को समाप्त लंबी लड़ाई के अभियान में माइकल आठवीं पलाइओलोस सेना का नेतृत्व किया। कॉन्स्टेंटिनोपल वर्तमान तुर्की का प्रमुख वाणिज्यिक नगर है।

1813 कलकत्ता में पहली नौका दौड़ का आयोजन हुआ।

1875 विख्यात भारतीय शिकारी, पर्यावरण प्रेमी, खोजी, प्रकृति विज्ञानी, लेखक एडवर्ड जेम्स काॅरबेट यानी जिम कार्बेट का जन्म ब्रिटिश शासित भारत के नैनीताल में हुआ। उनके नाम पर उत्तराखंड में राष्ट्रीय उद्यान काॅर्बेट टाइगर रिजर्व है। जिम कार्बेट का निधन 19 अप्रैल 1955 को न्येरी काॅलोनी, केन्या में हुआ।

1880 सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता गणेश वासुदेव जोशी का निधन हुआ।

1894 विद्वान् शोधकर्मी समीक्षक परशुराम चतुर्वेदी का जन्म हुआ।

1905 प्रख्यात अमेरिकी सेक्सोफोनवादक जॉनी हॉजेज का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन विश्व विख्यात जर्मन लेखक, नोबल साहित्य पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाले एलियास कनेट्टी का जन्म रुस, बुल्गारिया में हुआ।

1908 प्रसिद्ध कर्नाटक शास्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ सेमनगुडी रामाकृष्णा श्रीनिवास अय्यर का जन्म तंजावुर में हुआ।

1909 ब्राजील के बार्सिलोना शहर में श्रमिकों ने तमाम शोषण, उत्पीड़न और मालिकों की मनमानी के खिलाफ विद्रोह आरम्भ किया।

1919 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय, मराठी संगीतकार गायक सुधीर फड़के का जन्म हुआ।

1920 लंदन के नोटिंगहिल में रोजालिंड एल्सी फ्रैंकलिन का जन्म हुआ। वे विख्यात ब्रिटिश रसायनज्ञ और एक्स-रे क्रिस्टलोग्राफर हुए जिन्होंने काम डीएनए, आरएनए, वायरस, कोयला और ग्रेफाइट की आणविक संरचनाओं के बारे में शोध कर प्रमाणिक जानकारी पेश की।

1929 प्रसिद्ध वामपंथी राजनीतिज्ञ, लोकसभा अध्यक्ष रहे सोमनाथ चटर्जी का जन्म हुआ।

1936 दवा निर्माता कंपनी सिपला के मुखिया, वैज्ञानिक, कारोबारी और भारत के बड़े रईसों में से एक यूसुफ हमीद का जन्म विल्नियस, लिथुआनिया में हुआ।

1948 आस्ट्रेलियाई क्रिकेट टीम ने भारतीय टीम के खिलाफ टेस्ट क्रिकेट में सबसे बड़ा लक्ष्य प्राप्त करने का रिकॉर्ड बनाया।

1956 उड़ीसा के सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और लेखक गोदावरीश मिश्र का निधन हुआ।

1957 कनाडा में वाटरलू विश्वविद्यालय ओंटारियो शहर में स्थापित किया गया। इसी दिन फ्रांस से स्वतंत्रता प्राप्त करने के एक साल से अधिक समय बाद, ट्यूनीशिया ने देश की राजशाही, हुसैनिद राजवंश को समाप्त किया और गणराज्य बना।

1962 पंजाब में कांग्रेस के प्रमुख नेता, विधायक और पूर्व मंत्री मनप्रीत सिंह बादल का जन्म हुआ। 

1963 अमेरिका, रूस और ब्रिटेन ने परमाणु परीक्षण प्रतिबंध संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसी दिन प्रमुख भारतीय टेलीविजन अभिनेता आशीष कौल का जन्म हुआ।

1966 शिरोमणि अकाली दल भारत की प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ, केंद्र की एनडीए सरकार में खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्री रहीं हरसिमरत कौर बादल का जन्म हुआ।

1975 भाजपा के लिए मोटा कोष जुटाने वाले प्रमुख नेता, अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी मंत्री मंडल के प्रमुख मंत्री रहे प्रमोद महाजन के बेटे जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता और माॅडल राहुल महाजन का जन्म हुआ।

1976 मलयालम, तमिल और कन्नड़ इत्यादि भाषाओं की बहुप्रतिभावान, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री संगीता माधवन नायर का जन्म कोट्टक्कल, केरल में हुआ।

1977 जाने माने फिल्म संगीतकार, संगीत एल्बम निर्माता राम संपथ का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी भारतीय फिल्म, टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, गायिका और वक्ता रागेश्वरी लुंबा का जन्म हुआ।

1978 दुनिया के पहली आइवीएफ यानी टेस्ट ट्यूब बेबी (शिशु) लुईस जॉय ब्राउन नामक बच्ची का जन्म इंग्लैंड के ओल्डहैम शहर में हुआ था। 10 नवंबर, 1977 को इंग्लैंड में डॉक्टर पैट्रिक स्टेप्टो और रॉबर्ट एडवर्ड्स ने लेस्ली ब्राउन नामक महिला के साथ इन विट्रो फर्टिलाइजेशन प्रक्रिया शुरू की थी। आगे चलकर 25 जुलाई 1978 को पहली टेस्ट-ट्यूब बेबी या परखनली शिशु का जन्म हुआ। इसका नाम लुईस जोय ब्राउन रखा गया। विज्ञान की इस महान उपलब्धि, इसके जनता के लिए महत्व इत्यादि को रेखांकित करने के लिए 25 जुलाई को विश्व आईवीएफ दिवस या वर्ल्ड एम्ब्रयोलॉजिस्ट डे का आयोजन किया गया।

1984 सोवियत संघ की स्वेतलाना सवित्स्काया अपनी दूसरी अंतरिक्ष यात्रा पर रवाना हुईं। 25 जुलाई 1984 को उन्होंने 3 घंटे 35 मिनट तक स्पेस वॉक किया था। किसी महिला द्वारा किया गया ये पहला स्पेस वॉक था।

1985 भारत की जानी मानी माॅडल और टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तुतकर्ता डिंपी गांगुली का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1987 रंगास्वामी वेंकटरमन भारत के आठवें राष्ट्रपति बने।

1989 जानी मानी फिल्म, टेलीविजन और थिएटर कलाकार तथा माॅडल कश्मीरा ईरानी का जन्म पुणे में हुआ।

1992 शंकर दयाल शर्मा भारत के नौंवे राष्ट्रपति बने।

1994 जार्डन के शाह हुसैन और इस्रायल के प्रधानमंत्री यित्जाक रॉबिन ने वाशिंगटन में समझौता हुआ और जॉर्डन तथा इजरायल के बीच 46 वर्ष से चल रहा युद्ध समाप्त हुआ।

1997 कोचेरिल रमन नारायणन भारत के दसवें राष्ट्रपति बने।

2000 एयर फ्रांस का एक कॉनकार्ड विमान उड़ान भरते ही दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होकर एक होटल पर गिरा। इस हादसे में 109 विमान यात्रियों के अलावा होटल में मौजूद चार लोगों की भी जान गई।

2001 कंजरवेटिव मुस्लिम नेता हमजाह हज इंडोनेशिया के नये उप-राष्ट्रपति बने। 2001 में इसी दिन सवर्णों खासतौर पर ठाकुरों के जुल्म का शिकार हुई और उनसे बदला लेने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हुई तथा चुनाव जीतकर लोकसभा सांसद बनीं फूलन देवी की दिल्ली स्थित उनके सरकारी आवास पर उत्तराखंड के एक ठाकुर शेर सिंह राणा ने गोलियां मारकर हत्या कर दी। 1994 में प्रख्यात फिल्मकार शेखर कपूर ने फूलन पर फिल्म बनाई थी, बैंडिट क्वीन, जो बहुचर्चित रही। फिल्म में मुख्य भूमिका निर्मल पांडेय और सीमा विश्वास ने निभाई।

2004 पाकिस्तान के परमाणु वैज्ञानिक अब्दुल कादिर खान के तीन सहयोगी रिहा हुये।

2007 श्रीमती प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटिल ने भारत के 12 वें राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ ली। वे भारत की प्रथम महिला राष्ट्रपति बनीं। 2017 गुजरात में बाढ़ आने से 70 से ज्यादा लोग मरे।

2012 बाॅलीवुड के प्रसिद्ध फिल्म निर्देशक बीआर इशारा का निधन हुआ।

2013 ब्रिटिश वैज्ञानिकों ने बिल्लियों में मानव के लिए एलर्जी पैदा करने वाले तंत्र की पहचान की है। कहा कि इसका उपचार अगले 5 वर्ष में खोज लिया जाएगा। इसी दिन 2013 में बढ़ती औद्योगिक मंदी से निपटने के लिए चीन ने अपनी आर्थिक वृद्धि को बढ़ावा देने के लिए व्यापार कर में बदलाव और उदारीकरण का निर्णय लिया।

2014 मलेशियाई एयरलाइंस की फ्लाइट एमएच17 कथित तौर पर आतंकी मिसाइल क्रैश हो गया। शवों और सबूतों की तलाश में डच और ऑस्ट्रेलियाई पुलिस पूर्वी यूक्रेन की ओर रवाना हुई। इसी दिन प्रौद्योगिकी से संबंधित विभिन्न पेटेंटों के उल्लंघन के लिए बीट्स इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स कंपनी के खिलाफ मुकदमा दायर हुआ।

2017 गुजरात में आई बाढ़ में 70 से ज्यादा लोग मारे गए।

2018 पाकिस्तान के आम चुनाव के नतीजों में इमरान खान की पार्टी तहरीक-ए-इंसाफ को सबसे ज्याटा वोट मिले।

2022 इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट की लखनऊ पीठ ने लखीमपुर खीरी किसान हत्या मामले में केंद्रीय ग्रह राज्य मंत्री अजय मिश्र टेनी के बेटे आशीष मिश्र उर्फ मोनू की जमानत याचिका मंगलवार को खारिज कर दी। इस हिंसा में चार किसानों की मौत हो गई थी। जस्टिस कृष्ण पहल की पीठ ने कहा कि आशीष राजनीतिक रूप से इतना प्रभावशाली है कि वह गवाहों और मामले की सुनवाई को प्रभावित कर सकता है। पीठ ने मामले में सुनवाई पूरी होने के बाद 15 जुलाई को अपना आदेश सुरक्षित रख लिया था। मालूम हो कि लखनऊ पीठ ने 10 फरवरी को आशीष को जमानत दे दी थी, लेकिन उच्चतम न्यायालय ने इसे रद्द कर दिया था और उच्च न्यायालय को निर्देश दिया था कि वह पीड़ित पक्ष को पर्याप्त मौका देकर जमानत याचिका पर फैसला सुनाए। इसके बाद उच्च न्यायालय ने जमानत याचिका पर नए सिरे से सुनवाई की थी। वर्ष 2021 में तीन अक्टूबर को लखीमपुर खीरी जिले के तिकोनिया इलाके में अजय मिश्र के गांव में एक कार्यक्रम में शिरकत करने जा रहे उपमुख्यमंत्री केशव प्रसाद मौर्य का किसानों द्वारा विरोध किए जाने के बाद शांतिपूर्वक लौट रहे किसानों पर मोनू ने गाड़ियां चढ़ा दी थीं जिससे चार किसान मौके पर मारे गये और कई अन्य घायल हुए। इस मामले में आशीष मुख्य अभियुक्त है।

1585 Amsterdam bans Roman Catholicism.

1689 France declares invasion of England.

1978 The world's first IVF i.e. test tube baby (infant) named Louise Joy Brown was born in Oldham city of England. On November 10, 1977, doctors Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards in England started the in vitro fertilization process with a woman named Leslie Brown. Later, on July 25, 1978, the first test-tube baby or test tube baby was born. It was named Louise Joy Brown. World IVF Day or World Embryologist Day is organized on 25 July to underline this great achievement of science, its importance to the public etc.

1984 Svetlana Savitskaya of the Soviet Union left for her second space trip. On 25 July 1984, he did a space walk for 3 hours 35 minutes. This was the first space walk done by a woman.

On this day in 2001, Phoolan Devi, who was victimized by upper castes especially Thakurs and became famous for taking revenge from them, and won the election and became a Lok Sabha MP, was shot dead by Sher Singh Rana, a Thakur from Uttarakhand, at her official residence in Delhi. In 1994, eminent filmmaker Shekhar Kapur made a film on Phoolan, Bandit Queen, which became very popular. Nirmal Pandey and Seema Biswas played the lead roles in the film.

2004 Three associates of Pakistan's nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan were released.

2007 Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil sworn in as the 12th President of India. She became the first woman President of India. More than 70 people died due to floods in Gujarat in 2017.

2022 The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Ashish Mishra alias Monu, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni, in the Lakhimpur Kheri farmer murder case. Four farmers had died in this violence. A bench of Justice Krishna Pahal said Ashish is politically influential enough to influence the witnesses and the trial of the case. The bench had reserved its order on July 15 after completion of hearing in the matter. It may be known that the Lucknow bench had granted bail to Ashish on February 10, but the Supreme Court had canceled it and directed the High Court to decide on the bail plea by giving adequate opportunity to the aggrieved party. After this, the High Court had a fresh hearing on the bail plea. On October 3, 2021, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who was going to attend a program in Ajay Mishra's village in Tikonia area of Lakhimpur Kheri district, had run over vehicles on the farmers returning peacefully after protests by the farmers, killing four farmers on the spot and injuring many others. Ashish is the main accused in this case.
