1290 ब्रिटिश राजा एडवर्ड ने यहूदियों को इंग्लैंड से बाहर कर देने का आदेश दिया।

1630 स्पेन के सैनिकों ने इटली के मंतुआ प्रांत पर कब्जा किया।

1737 बेंजा लुका में लड़ाई के दौरान तुर्की सेना ने आस्ट्रिया को पराजित किया।

1743 साप्ताहिक अखबार न्यूयार्क में दुनिया का पहला अखबारी विज्ञापन प्रकाशित हुआ। यह विज्ञापन आधे पृष्ठ का था।

1781 ब्रिटेन के विख्यात खगोल शास्त्री विलियम हरशल ने आकाश गंगा की वास्तविकता का पता लगाया।

1811 विख्यात ब्रिटिश अंग्रेजी उपन्यासकार और चित्रकार विलियम मैकपीस ठाकरे का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1848 जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के राजा प्रताप सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1857 बंबई विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना हुई।

1861 भारत की पहली महिला स्नातक और पहली महिला फिजीशियन कादंबिनी गांगुली का जन्म हुआ।

1872 ब्रिटेन में चुनाव में गुप्त मतदान अधिनियम आया। इससे पहले मतदान खुले तौर पर किए जाते थे।

1918 अश्वेत अधिकारों के लिए अहिंसात्मक आंदोलन चलाने और 27 वर्ष जेल में गुजारने वाले, नोबेल पुरस्कार प्राप्त दक्षिण अफ्रीका के अफ्रीकन नेशनल कांग्रेस नेता और राष्ट्रपति हुए नेल्सन मंडेला का जन्म हुआ। नवंबर 2009 में शांति और स्वतंत्रता की संस्कृति में दक्षिण अफ्रीका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति के योगदान को मान्यता देते हुए संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 18 जुलाई को नेल्सन मंडेला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस घोषित किया। संयुक्त राष्ट्र का संकल्प ए/आरईएस/64/13 मंडेला के मूल्यों और मानवता की सेवा के प्रति उनके समर्पण को मान्यता देता है। संघर्ष समाधान योग्य प्रतिस्पर्धा, संबंध, मानवाधिकारों का प्रचार और संरक्षण, सुलह, लैंगिक समानता और बच्चों और अन्य कमजोर समूहों के अधिकार, गरीबी के खिलाफ लड़ाई, सामाजिक न्याय को बढ़ावा देना। प्रस्ताव अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर लोकतंत्र के लिए संघर्ष और दुनिया भर में शांति की संस्कृति को बढ़ावा देने में उनके योगदान को स्वीकार करता है।

1919 मैसूर के 25वें महाराजा जय चामाराजेंद्रा वाडियार का जन्म हुआ।

1925 एडोल्फ हिटलर की आत्मकथा माइन काम्फ का पहला संस्करण छपा। पहले साल इस किताब की कुल 9,473 प्रतियां बिकीं। हिटलर ने ये किताब जेल में सजा काटने के दौरान लिखी थी। दुनिया के इतिहास में सर्वाधिक क्रूरतम हत्यारों में से एक जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर को तत्कालीन सरकार पर काबिज होने से पहले 1923 में हॉल में तख्तापलट की नाकामयाब कोशिश के बाद कैद कर लिया गया था। देशद्रोह के आरोप में हिटलर को 5 साल की सजा सुनाई गई। उसे म्यूनिख की जेल में डाल दिया गया। जेल में उसने अपनी आत्मकथा लिखी थी। आत्मकथा में हिटलर ने अपने नस्लीय और यहूदी विरोधी विचारों को दुनिया के सामने रखा। माइन काम्फ के पहले संस्करण का नाम अ रेकनिंग था। इस किताब में हिटलर ने जर्मनी को आगे बढ़ने से रोक रही समस्याओं का जिक्र किया था।

1927 प्रख्यात पाकिस्तानी गजल गायक मेहदी हसन का जन्म लूणा, झुंझुनू, राजस्थान के संगीतज्ञ परिवार में हुआ।

1931 आंध्र प्रदेश के आठवें मुख्यमंत्री हुए भावानम वेंकटरामी रेड्डी का जन्म हुआ।

1935 हिंदू धर्म के सर्वोच्च धर्मगुरु कांची मठ के 69वें शंकराचार्य जयेन्द्र सरस्वती का जन्म इरुल नीकी, तमिलनाडु में हुआ।

1946 भारत के प्रसिद्ध हिंदी पत्रकार, कवि, संपादक, रंगकर्मी, नाटककार और साहित्यकार, साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाले राजेश जोशी का जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के नरसिंहगढ़ जिले में हुआ।

1947 3 जून 1947 को प्रस्तुत माउंटबेटन योजना के आधार पर ब्रिटिश संसद में 4 जुलाई को भारत स्वतंत्रता विधेयक पेश किया गया था। इसे 18 जुलाई, 1947 को सम्राट ने मंजूरी प्रदान की। विधेयक स्वतंत्र भारत के स्वरूप के निर्धारण के लिए था और इसी में भारत की आजादी की तारीख 15 अगस्त 1947 तय की गई थी। योजना के तहत विभाजन के बाद भारत और पाकिस्तान की सीमाएं निर्धारित करने के लिए एक सीमा आयोग के गठन की बात कही गई थी और पंजाब तथा बंगाल के विभाजन का प्रावधान किया गया था।

1952 विख्यात मलयालम फिल्म निर्देशक जोशी यानी जोशी अबिलाश या जोशी ऐश्वर्या का जन्म वरकला में हुआ।

1955 परमाणु ऊर्जा से उत्पादित बिजली को व्यावसायिक रूप से पहली बार बेचा गया। इसी दिन भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के अधिकारी और 31वें कैबीनेट सचिव प्रदीप कुमार सिन्हा का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1963 सीरिया में सैन्य तख्तापलट विफल हुआ।

1968 अमेरिका के कैलिफोर्निया राज्य के सेंटा क्लारा में कंप्यूटर कंपनी इंटेल कॉरपोरेशन की स्थापना हुई।

1970 केंद्रीय मंत्री और पूर्व भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा में अधिकारी रहे अश्विनी वैष्णव का जन्म हुआ।

1971 जाने माने फिल्म गीत गायक सुखविंदर सिंह का जन्म पंजाब के अमृतसर में हुआ।

1972 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी, मलयालम, तमिल, कन्नड़ एवं अन्य दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की अभिनेत्री, फिल्म निर्मात्री और माॅडल सौंदर्या यानी सौम्या सत्यनारायण का जन्म गंजीगुंटे कर्नाटक में हुआ और इनका 17 अप्रैल 2004 को निधन हो गया।

1973 अफगानिस्तान में राजशाही की समाप्ति एवं गणराज्य की स्थापना हुई।

1975 अंग्रेजी गायिका-गीतकार, रैपर और रिकॉर्ड निर्माता तथा सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता एम.आई.ए. यानी मथांगी माया अरुलप्रागासम का जन्म हुआ।

1976 ओलिंपिक खेलों में पहली बार किसी जिम्नास्ट को परफेक्ट-10 स्कोर मिला। रोमानिया की जिम्नास्ट नादिया कोमानेसी को 10 में से 10 अंक दिए गए।

1977 वियतनाम संयुक्त राष्ट्र का सदस्य बना।

1980 पूर्ण रूप से भारत में निर्मित उपग्रह रोहिणी-1 पृथ्वी की कक्षा में स्थापित हुआ।

1982 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, प्रसिद्ध भारतीय बॉलीवुड-हॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री, फिल्म निर्मात्री, कारोबारी, माॅडल, मिस वर्ल्ड 2000 और अमेरिकी गायक निक जोनस से विवाह कर अमेरिका में बस चुकी प्रियंका चोपड़ा का जन्म जमशेदपुर में हुआ।

1985 सोवियत संघ ने भूमिगत परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1989 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल भूमि पेडनेकर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1994 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी मानी टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल छवि पांडेय का जन्म पटना में हुआ।

1996 जानी मानी भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी स्मृति मंधाना का जन्म हुआ।

1998 प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारी अब्दुल हमीद कैसर का निधन हुआ था। इसी दिन जाने माने क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी इशन किशन का जन्म पटना में हुआ। 

1999 विमानन इतिहास में सर्वाधिक समय तक विमान उड़ाने का विश्व रिकार्ड बनाने वाले एडलोग का निधन हुआ।

2000 रातू जोसेफा इलोइलो ने फिजी के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण की।

2002 इजरायल की राजधानी तेल अवीव में बम विस्फोट में 6 लोग मरे, 40 घायल। इसी दिन डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम देश के 12 वें राष्ट्रपति चुने गए। इसी दिन सड़कों के सुधार पर विस्तार के लिए, एशियाई विकास बैंक ने छत्तीसगढ़ को 20 करोड़ डालर की सहायता मंजूर की।

2003 वाई. वेणुगोपाल रेड्डी भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के नये गर्वनर बने।

2004 पाकिस्तान का अमेरिका ने 50 करोड़ डालर का कर्जा माफ किया।

2005 भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह और अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जाॅर्ज बुश वार्ता के बाद अमेरिकी प्रशासन ने भारत को परमाणु ऊर्जा और उच्च प्रौद्योगिकी विषयक आपूर्ति पर लगाये गए प्रतिबंधों को हटाने का फैसला किया।

2007 भारत, पाकिस्तान और मैक्सिको में हरित क्रान्ति के जनक कहे जाने वाले विश्व प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी कृषि वैज्ञानिक नार्मन बोरलॉग को क्रांग्रेसनल गोल्ड मेडल से सम्मानित किया गया।

2008 भारतीय मूल के विश्व प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश लेखक सलमान रुश्दी ने प्रमोशन टूर के दौरान 57 मिनट में एक हजार पुस्तकों पर हस्ताक्षर करने का रिकार्ड बनाया।

2010 केरल के प्रोफेसर जोसफ पर आठ लोगों ने हमला किया और उनपर इस्लाम के अपमान का आरोप लगाते हुए उनके हाथ काट डाले।

2011 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शास्त्रीय गायक जगदीश प्रसाद का निधन हुआ।

2012 किम जोंग उन को आधिकारिक तौर पर उत्तर कोरिया का सर्वोच्च नेता नियुक्त किया गया। इसी दिन हिंदी फिल्मों के पहले सुपरस्टार, बेहद मशहूर अभिनेता राजेश खन्ना का निधन हुआ।

2016 भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ और हिंदी फिल्मों की प्रसिद्ध पाश्र्व गायिका मुबारक बेगम का निधन हुआ।

2017 प्रसिद्ध कवि, संस्मरणकार, कहानीकार, उपन्यासकार तथा समीक्षक अजित शंकर चौधरी का निधन हुआ।

1743 The world's first newspaper advertisement was published in the weekly newspaper New York. This advertisement was of half a page.

1781 Britain's famous astronomer William Herschel discovered the reality of the Milky Way.

1811 William McPeace Thackeray, noted British English novelist and painter, was born in Calcutta.

1848 Raja Pratap Singh of Jammu and Kashmir was born.

1857 Bombay University was established.

1861 Kadambini Ganguly, India's first female graduate and first female physician, was born.

1872 Secret ballot act came in the election in Britain. Earlier voting was done openly.

1918 Nelson Mandela, African National Congress leader and President of South Africa, who won the Nobel Prize for running a non-violent movement for black rights and spent 27 years in prison, was born. In November 2009, the United Nations General Assembly declared 18 July Nelson Mandela International Day in recognition of the former South African President's contribution to a culture of peace and freedom. United Nations Resolution A/RES/64/13 recognizes Mandela's values and his dedication to the service of humanity. conflict resolution competition, relations, promotion and protection of human rights, reconciliation, gender equality and rights of children and other vulnerable groups, fight against poverty, promotion of social justice. The resolution acknowledges his contribution to the struggle for democracy at the international level and the promotion of a culture of peace around the world.

1919 Jai Chamarajendra Wadiyar, 25th Maharaja of Mysore, was born.

1925 The first edition of Mein Kampf, the autobiography of Adolf Hitler, is published. A total of 9,473 copies of this book were sold in the first year. Hitler wrote this book while serving his sentence in jail. One of the most brutal murderers in world history, German dictator Adolf Hitler was imprisoned after a failed coup d'état in 1923 before taking over the then government. Hitler was sentenced to 5 years for treason. He was put in prison in Munich. He wrote his autobiography in jail. In the autobiography, Hitler put forward his racial and anti-Semitic views to the world. The first edition of Mein Kampf was titled A Reckoning. In this book, Hitler mentioned the problems preventing Germany from moving forward.

1927 Mehdi Hasan, famous Pakistani ghazal singer, was born in a musical family in Luna, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.

1931 Bhavanam Venkatarami Reddy, eighth Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was born.

1935 Jayendra Saraswati, the 69th Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Math, the highest religious leader of Hinduism, was born in Irul Neeki, Tamil Nadu.

1946 Rajesh Joshi, India's famous Hindi journalist, poet, editor, artist, dramatist and litterateur, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award, was born in Narsinghgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.

1947 The India Independence Bill was introduced in the British Parliament on 4 July on the basis of the Mountbatten Plan presented on 3 June 1947. It was approved by the Emperor on July 18, 1947. The bill was to determine the nature of independent India and in this the date of India's independence was fixed as 15 August 1947. Under the plan, there was talk of setting up a Boundary Commission to determine the boundaries of India and Pakistan after partition, and provision was made for the division of Punjab and Bengal.

1952 Joshi, also known as Joshi Abilash or Joshi Aishwarya, noted Malayalam film director, was born in Varkala.

1955 Electricity produced from nuclear power is sold commercially for the first time. On this day Indian Administrative Service officer and 31st Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha was born in Delhi.

1963 Military coup in Syria fails.

1968 Computer company Intel Corporation was founded in Santa Clara, California, USA.

1970 Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister and former Indian Administrative Service officer, was born.

1971 Noted film song singer Sukhwinder Singh was born in Amritsar, Punjab.

1972- Well-known beautiful, bold Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and other South Indian film actress, film producer and model Soundarya i.e. Saumya Satyanarayana was born in Ganjigunte Karnataka and died on 17 April 2004.

In 1973, the monarchy was abolished and the republic was established in Afghanistan.

1975 English singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer and activist M.I.A. That is, Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam was born.

The 1976 Olympic Games marked the first time a gymnast got a perfect-10 score. Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci was given 10 out of 10 points.

1977 Vietnam became a member of the United Nations.

1980 Rohini-1, a satellite made entirely in India, was placed in Earth's orbit.

1982 Priyanka Chopra, beautiful, bold, famous Indian Bollywood-Hollywood actress, film producer, businesswoman, model, Miss World 2000 and settled in America after marrying American singer Nick Jonas, was born in Jamshedpur.

1985 Soviet Union conducts underground nuclear test.

1989 Bhumi Pednekar, well-known beautiful, bold film actress and model, was born in Bombay.

1994 Beautiful, bold well-known television actress and model Chhavi Pandey was born in Patna.

1996 Smriti Mandhana, noted Indian woman cricketer, was born.

1998 Famous revolutionary Abdul Hameed Kaiser passed away. On this day famous cricketer Ishan Kishan was born in Patna.

1999 Adlog, who set the world record for the longest flight time in aviation history, passed away.

2000 Ratu Josepha Iloilo is sworn in as President of Fiji.

2002 Bomb blast in Israel's capital Tel Aviv kills 6, injures 40. On the same day Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was elected the 12th President of the country. On the same day, to expand on improving roads, the Asian Development Bank approved $200 million in aid to Chhattisgarh.

2003 Y. Venugopal Reddy became the new Governor of Reserve Bank of India.

2004 America waived Pakistan's debt of 500 million dollars.

In 2005, following talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President George Bush, the US administration decided to lift sanctions on nuclear energy and high technology supplies to India.

In 2007, Norman Borlaug, the world-renowned American agricultural scientist, who is called the father of Green Revolution in India, Pakistan and Mexico, was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.

2008 Salman Rushdie, the world-renowned British author of Indian origin, sets a record for signing 1,000 books in 57 minutes during a promotion tour.

2010 Professor Joseph of Kerala was attacked by eight people and his hands were chopped off, accusing him of insulting Islam.

2011 Jagdish Prasad, famous Indian classical singer, passed away.

2012 Kim Jong Un is officially appointed Supreme Leader of North Korea. On this day, the first superstar of Hindi films, very famous actor Rajesh Khanna passed away.

2016 Mubarak Begum, Indian classical musician and noted Hindi film playback singer, passed away.

2017- Renowned poet, memoirist, story writer, novelist and critic Ajit Shankar Chowdhary passed away.
