1708 टेवाफ्लोस को इथियोपिया का सम्राट नियुक्त किया गया।

1742 विश्व प्रसिद्ध जर्मन भौतिकशास्त्री जॉर्ज क्रिस्तॉफ लिश्टेनबर्ग का जन्म हुआ।

1781 भारत में मैसूर के सुल्तान हैदर अली और अंग्रेज सेना के बीच पोर्टो नोवो (अब परांगीपेट्टई) का युद्ध हुआ।

1788 विश्व प्रसिद्ध फ्रांसीसी गणितज्ञ ज्याँ विक्टर पाँसेले का जन्म हुआ।

1822 बॉम्बे समचार भारत का सबसे पुराना लगातार प्रकाशित होने वाला समाचार पत्र है। फरदुनजी मरजबान द्वारा स्थापित, यह गुजराती और अंग्रेजी में प्रकाशित हुआ।

1852 सिंध के मुख्य आयुक्त सर बर्टलेफ्रोरे ने केवल सिंध राज्य में और मुंबई कराची मार्ग पर प्रयोग के लिए सिंध डाक नाम से एक डाक टिकट जारी करवाया।

1862 कलकत्ता (अब कोलकाता) के फोर्ट विलियम परिसर में कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय का उद्घाटन हुआ। सर बर्नेस पीकाक इसके मुख्य न्यायाधीश हुए।

1874 अमेरिकन इंजीनियर, आविष्कारक एलिफालेट रेमिंगटन द्वारा विकसित टाइपराइटर रेमिंगटन व्यावसायिक रूप से सफल टाइपिंग मशीन साबित हुई।

1878 कनाडा यूनिवर्सल पोस्टल यूनियन में शामिल हुआ।

1879 ब्रिटिश भारत में डाक विभाग ने पोस्ट कार्ड की शुरुआत की।

1881 टेलीफोन पर पहली बार अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर बातचीत की गई। एलेक्जेंडर ग्राहम बेल आविष्कृत उपकरणों से यह पहली अंतरराष्ट्रीय टेलीफोन कॉल सेंट स्टीफन (न्यू ब्रंसविक, कनाडा) और कैलिस, मेन, अमेरिका) के बीच हुई। 

1882 पश्चिम बंगाल के दूसरे मुख्यमंत्री हुए डॉक्टर बिधान चंद्र राय का जन्म हुआ। 1 जुलाई को उनकी याद में डॉक्टर दिवस मनाया जाता है।

1887 फ्रांस की पहचान का सर्वोच्च प्रतीक एफिल टॉवर के लोहे के ढांचे का निर्माण पेरिस फ्रांस में शुरू किया गया।

1889 भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के चौथे गवर्नर हुए बेनेगल रामा राव का जन्म हुआ।

1896 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सोशलिस्ट वर्कर्स एंड ट्रेड यूनियन कांग्रेस लंदन में आयोजित हुई।

1906 अमेरिकी अमीर, कारोबारी और उद्योगपती एस्टे लॉडर का जन्म हुआ।

1913 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री हुए वसंतराव नाइक का जन्म हुआ।

1915 वियतनाम की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के महासचिव गुयेन वैन लिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1921 कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ चाइना की स्थापना हुई। इसी ने किसानों और आम जनता की शोषण से मुक्ति की लंबी लड़ाई लड़ी और 1949 में चीन में नव जनवादी क्रांति हुई और करोड़ों चीनी लोगों को शोषण, उत्पीड़न, बेकारी से आजादी मिली। चीन के विकास की शुरुआत हुई। इसी दिन बोत्स्वाना के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति सेरेत्से खामा का जन्म हुआ।

1923 भारत के प्रमुख साइकिल निर्माता और हीरो बाइक निर्माता कंपनी हीरो समूह के संस्थापक बृजमोहन लाल मुंजाल का जन्म कमलिया, पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1925 विख्यात भारतीय हिंदी कथाकार, साहित्यकार अमरकांत का जन्म हुआ।

1927 भारत के 8वें प्रधानमंत्री हुए समाजवादी नेता चन्द्रशेखर सिंह का जन्म हुआ। हिंदी साहित्य की विविध विधाओं में उल्लेखनीय लेखन करने वाले सुधाकर पांडेय का जन्म 1927 में इसी दिन हुआ।

1928 उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री तथा मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल हुए राम नरेश यादव का जन्म हुआ।

1933 अनेक लोकप्रिय, गंभीर अखबार, पत्रिकाओं में संपादन कार्य करने वाले पत्रकार, साहित्यकार कन्हैयालाल नंदन का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन परमवीर चक्र विजेता भारतीय सैनिक अब्दुल हमीद का जन्म हुआ। 

1935 वाणिज्य स्नातक, विधि स्नातक, राजनेता, सातवीं लोकसभा के सदस्य जयपाल सिंह कश्यप का जन्म हुआ।

1936 ज्योतिकणा दत्त की सहपाठिनी, सक्रिय क्रांतिकारी कार्यकर्ता, क्रांतिकारीयों को हथियार उपलब्ध कराने वाली वनलता दास गुप्ता का निधन हुआ। 

1938 विख्यात बांसुरी वादक पंडित हरिप्रसाद चैरसिया का जन्म इलाहाबाद में हुआ।

1939 जाने माने भारतीय लेखक, शिक्षक और श्री वेंकटेश्वर विश्वविद्यालय, तिरुपति के कुलपति हुए कोलकलुरी इनोच का जन्म हुआ।

1940 भारतीय हिंदी फिल्मों के प्रसिद्ध निर्देशक, अभिनेता और रंगमंच निर्देशक राम गोपाल बजाज का जन्म हुआ।

1941 ब्रिटिश शासित भारत के प्रतिष्ठित संपादक, उदारवादी दल के संस्थापकों में से एक सी.वाई. चिन्तामणि का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन भाजपा नेता, हिमाचल और राजस्थान के राज्यपाल हुए कलराज मिश्र का जन्म हुआ।

1948 पाकिस्तान के संस्थापक मुहम्मद अली जिन्ना ने पाकिस्तान के सेंट्रल बैंक का उद्दघाटन किया।

1949 स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के उपरांत भारत में छोटी रियासतों का विलय हुआ तब त्रावनकोर तथा कोचीन रियासतों को मिलाकर 1 जुलाई, 1949 को त्रावनकोर-कोचीन राज्य बना दिया गया, लेकिन मालाबार मद्रास प्रांत के अधीन रहा। दलित लेखन में शीर्षस्थ स्थान रखने वाले साहित्यकार डॉ. तुलसीराम का जन्म 1949 में इसी दिन हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ, भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष तथा उप राष्ट्रपति हुए एम वेंकैया नायडू का जन्म हुआ।

1951 अमेरिकन संगीतकार फ्रेड श्नायडर का जन्म हुआ।

1952 मध्य प्रदेश सरकार में पंचायत एवं ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री हुए गोपाल भार्गव का जन्म हुआ।

1955 ब्रिटिश भारतीय सरकार द्वारा स्थापित इंपीरियल बैंक ऑफ इंडिया का राष्ट्रीयकरण कर इसे स्टेट बैंक ऑफ इंडिया नाम दिया गया।

1956 प्रसिद्ध फिल्म अभिनेता शम्मी कपूर एवं गीता बाली के बेटे फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता और कारोबारी आदित्य राज कपूर का जन्म हुआ।

1958 जाने माने हिंदी लेखक, साहित्यकार तथा उपन्यासकार त्रिलोक नाथ पांडेय का जन्म हुआ।

1960 घाना अफ्रीका का एक प्रजातंत्रीय प्रणाली वाला राज्य है, जिसे 1 जुलाई 1960 को गणराज्य घोषित किया गया।

1961 भारतीय अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष यात्री और अंतरिक्ष शटल मिशन विशेषज्ञ कल्पना चावला का जन्म हुआ। कोलंबिया अन्तरिक्ष यान आपदा में मारे गए सात यात्री दल सदस्यों में से वह भी एक थीं। इसी दिन न्यूयॉर्क के निकट ग्रांड द्वीप पर थीम पार्क खोला।

1962 स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी, उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रमुख राजनेता, समाजसेवी और चिंतक पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन का निधन हुआ।

1963 अमेरिकी डाक विभाग ने जिप कोड प्रणाली को लागू किया। हमारे भारत में पिनकोड कहते हैं। यह 6 अंकों का होता है।

1964 भारतीय औद्योगिक विकास बैंक यानी आईडीबीआई की स्थापना की गई।

1965 भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच युद्ध विराम लागू हुआ और विवाद को एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय न्यायाधिकरण के समक्ष मध्यस्थता के लिए प्रस्तुत किया गया। इस न्यायाधिकरण के फैसले में 1968 में प्रकाशित, 9/10 हिस्सा भारत को और शेष 1/10 हिस्से का अधिकार पाकिस्तान को दिया गया।

1966 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शासत्रीय गायक एवं संगीतकार उस्ताद राशिद खान का जन्म हुआ।

1973 समाजवादी पार्टी के संस्थापक मुलायम सिंह यादव के पुत्र अखिलेश यादव का जन्म हुआ। वे मुख्यमंत्री रहे अभी समाजवादी पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष हैं।

1975 प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी ने राष्ट्रीय विकास के लिए 20 सूत्रीय कार्यक्रमों की घोषणा की।

1979 इलेक्ट्रानिक उपकरण बनाने वाली जापान की प्रख्यात कंपनी सोनी ने वाकमैन पेश किया।

1986 दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री, गायिका, नृत्यांगना, संगीतज्ञ, स्टेज शो परफार्मर सितारा कृष्णाकुमार का जन्म हुआ।

1987 न्यूयॉर्क में खेल को समर्पित प्रसारण केंद्र डब्लूएएफएन स्थापित किया किया।

1990 पूर्वी एवं पश्चिमी जर्मनी के बीच सीमा रेखा की समाप्ति एवं पश्चिमी जर्मनी की मुद्रा को पूर्वी जर्मनी में मान्यता मिली।

1992 चर्चित फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन, इंटरनेट आधारित शो अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और कारोबारी, फिल्म अभिनेता सुशांत सिंह राजपूत की मौत मामले में मीडिया और आरएसएस, मोदी सरकार समर्थकों द्वारा दोषी ठहराई गई रिया चक्रवर्ती का जन्म हुआ।

1994 फिलिस्तीनी नेता यासर अराफात 27 साल के निर्वासन के बाद स्वदेश वापस लौटे। 1 जुलाई 1994 को अंतरराष्ट्रीय चुटकुला दिवस अथवा अंतरराष्ट्रीय मजाक दिवस मनाया गया। एक अमेरिकी लेखक वेन रीनागल ने इस दिन के बारे में वर्ष 1994 में सोचा था। उन्होंने अपनी पुस्तकों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए इस दिवस का आयोजन किया। वेन इस दिन का इस्तेमाल अपने चुटकुलों की किताब के प्रचार के लिए करते थे। जिसमें जोक्स, कार्टून, मीम्स इत्यादि थे।

1994 रोमान हर्जोग ने जर्मनी के नये राष्ट्रपति के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण की।

1995 अमेरिका ने ताईवान पर लगाये गये प्रतिबंध खत्म किये।

1996 ऑस्ट्रेलिया के उत्तरी प्रांत में स्वेच्छा मृत्यु कानून विश्व में पहली बार लागू हुआ।

1997 ब्रिटिश सरकार ने हांगकांग का शासन चीन को सौंपा। 1997 में इसी दिन देश की पहली साइंस सिटी कोलकाता में स्थापित की गई।

2000 लंदन के प्रसिद्ध खेल स्टेडियम लार्ड्स के 100वें ऐतिहासिक टेस्ट मैच में इंग्लैंड ने वेस्टइंडीज को हराया।

2003 समुद्र में सबसे गहराई तक जाने का विश्व कीर्तिमान बनाने वाली जापानी पनडुब्बी प्रशांत महासागर में लापता हुई।

2004 आसियान ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद से निपटने हेतु ऑस्ट्रेलिया से समझौता किया।

2006 एशियाई युवा शतरंज चैम्पियनशिप में भारत ने 8 स्वर्ण जीते। इसी दिन चीन में बर्ड फ्लू के विषाणु की पुष्टि हुई। इराक में अलकायदा के वांछित नेता अबू अमूब अल मसरी पर अमेरिका ने 50 लाख डॉलर का इनाम इसी दिन घोषित किया। जापान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री 68 वर्षीय रियूतारो हाशीमोतो का इसी दिन निधन हुआ। अमेरिकी संसद की समितियों ने 2006 में इसी दिन भारत-अमेरिकी परमाणु समझौते को मंजूरी प्रदान की। 2006 में इसी दिन शतरंज खिलाड़ी परिमार्जन नेगी सबसे कम उम्र के दूसरे ग्रैंडमास्टर बने.

2007 इंग्लैंड में सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर सिगरेट पीने पर प्रतिबंध प्रभावी हुआ। इसी दिन दलाई लामा के मामले पर चीन के अधिकारियों के साथ तिब्बत के दूतों की वार्ता हुई।

2008 गाजापट्टी के फलस्तीनी विद्रोहियों ने दक्षिणी इस्रायल पर रॉकेट दागा।

2013 खगोलविदों ने नेप्च्यून के चंद्रमा एस 2004 एन1 की खोज की।

2014 मार्टिन शुल्ज यूरोपीय संसद के दोबारा राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित हुए।

2017 भारत में अर्थव्यवस्था के एक महत्वपूर्ण सुधार के रूप में प्रस्तुत वस्तु एवं सेवा कर (जीएसटी) लागू किया गया। लेकिन इससे अर्थव्यवस्था पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ा। लाखों उद्योग, कारोबार इसकी मार से चौपट हो गये।

1919 संयुक्त अरब अमीरात की राजधानी अबू धाबी में अंतरराष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गठबंधन के पहले संयुक्त सुरक्षा अभ्यास का आरम्भ हुआ। 1919 में इसी दिन एनएस विश्वनाथन को एक साल के लिए आरबीआई (भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक) के डिप्टी गवर्नर के रूप में दोबारा नियुक्त किया गया। अफस्पा के तहत पूरे नगालैंड को और छह महीनों (दिसंबर अंत तक) के लिए अशांत क्षेत्र घोषित कर दिया गया।

2020 यूरोपीय यूनियन (ईयू) ने सुरक्षा कारणों से पाकिस्तान इंटरनेशनल एयरलाइंस (पीआइए) की उड़ानों पर छह महीने के लिए रोक लगाई। इसी दिन अमेरिका, मैक्सिको और ख्ख्कनाडा के बीच एक नया मुक्त व्यापार समझौता लागू हुआ। इसने तीन देशों के बीच 26 वर्ष पुराने व्यापार समझौते उत्तरी अमेरिका मुक्त व्यापार समझौते (नाफ्टा) की जगह ली। इसी दिन भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) के मंगलयान यानी मार्स ऑर्बिटर मिशन (एमओएम) ने मंगल ग्रह के नजदीकी और सबसे बड़े चंद्रमा फोबोस की तस्वीर ली।

2022 समाजवादी पार्टी के अध्यक्ष एवं उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव ने अपने जन्मदिन के मौके पर 1 जुलाई को यूपी बोर्ड की 10वीं एवं 12वीं परीक्षा में शीर्ष पांच स्थान प्राप्त करने वाले छात्र-छात्राओं को लैपटॉप देकर सम्मानित किया। इसी दिन भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस ने माल एवं सेवा कर (जीएसटी) लागू किये जाने के 5 वर्ष पूरे होने पर आरोप लगाया कि जीएसटी कानून और इसके क्रियान्वयन के तरीके ने देश की अर्थव्यवस्था को बर्बाद कर दिया है। वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता और पूर्व वित्त मंत्री पी चिदंबरम ने कहा कि कांग्रेस इस जीएसटी को खारिज करती है और वह मौजूदा जीएसटी की जगह ‘जीएसटी 2.0’ को प्रतिस्थापित करने की दिशा में काम करेगी। इसी दिन पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने पंजाब के लोगों के 31 दिसंबर 2021 तक बिजली बिल माफ करने का ऐलान किया। इसी दिन केंद्र सरकार ने पाॅलीथीन की पन्नियों और डिस्पोजेबल आइटम्स पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।

1822 The Bombay Samachar is the oldest continuously published newspaper in India. Founded by Fardunji Marjban, it is published in Gujarati and English.

1852 Sir Birtlefroye, Chief Commissioner of Sindh, issued a stamp called the Sindh Dak for use only in the state of Sindh and on the Mumbai-Karachi route.

1927 Chandrashekhar Singh, socialist leader who became India's 8th Prime Minister, was born. Sudhakar Pandey, who wrote remarkable works in various genres of Hindi literature, was born on this day in 1927.

1935 Jaipal Singh Kashyap, commerce graduate, law graduate, politician, member of the Seventh Lok Sabha, was born.

1936 Vanlata Das Gupta, classmate of Jyotikana Dutt, active revolutionary activist, who provided arms to revolutionaries, passed away.

1938: Noted flute player Pandit Hariprasad Chairasia was born in Allahabad.

1939 Kolkaluri Enoch, noted Indian author, teacher and vice-chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, was born.

1940 Ram Gopal Bajaj, Indian Hindi film director, actor and stage director, was born.

1941 Eminent editor of British-ruled India, one of the founders of the liberal party C.Y. Chintamani passed away. On this day Kalraj Mishra, BJP leader, Governor of Himachal and Rajasthan was born.

1948 Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, inaugurated the Central Bank of Pakistan.

After independence in 1949, small princely states were merged in India, then Travancore and Cochin princely states were merged to form Travancore-Cochin state on July 1, 1949, but Malabar remained under Madras province.
