1900 चीन के डोनहुआंग के मोगाओ गुफाओं में एक ताओवादी भिक्षु ने 5वीं से 11वीं शताब्दी के दुनहंग पांडुलिपियों (सैंपिक्टेड) की खोज की।

1903 विश्व प्रसिद्ध उपन्यासकार, निबंधकार, पत्रकार, आलोचक, समाजवादी, मानवाधिकारवादी जाॅर्ज ओरवेल का जन्म मोतिहारी बिहार में हुआ। इनका उपन्यास 1984 बहुत प्रसिद्ध हुआ और दुनिया भर की तमाम भाषाओं में इसका अनुवाद हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध हिंदी चन्द्रशेखर पांडे का जन्म हुआ।

1908 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय महिला स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं राजनीतिज्ञ सुचेता कृपलानी का जन्म हुआ।

1910 रूस के प्रसिद्ध संगीतकार इगोरस्ट्राविंस्की ने अपना पहला बड़ा संगीत प्रोग्राम फायरबर्ड पेरिस में प्रस्तुत किया।

1924 विख्यात भारतीय बॉलीवुड फिल्म संगीतकार मदन मोहन का जन्म हुआ।

1931 उत्तर प्रदेश में मुख्यमंत्री, केंद्र में रक्षा और वित्त मंत्री रहे और बाद में भारत के आठवें प्रधानमंत्री हुए विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह का जन्म इलाहाबाद में हुआ। इन्होंने अनुसूचित जाति, जनजाति, ओबीसी के लिए मंडल आयोग द्वारा की गई सिफारिशें लागू कीं। जिससे हिंदू धर्म के अगड़े समुदाय ने पूरे देश में वबाल मचा दिया।

1932 भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम ने ब्रिटेन के लॉर्ड्स मैदान पर अपना पहला टेस्ट मैच खेला।

1940 फ्रांसीसी बंदरगाहों से लगभग 200,000 मित्र देशों के सैनिकों की निकासी पूरी हो गई। जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर ने इसी दिन पेरिस में फ्रांस के सर्वाधिक शक्तिशाली सैन्य शासक रहे नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट की कब्र और एफिल टाॅवर देखा।

1941 फिनलैंड ने सोवियत संघ पर हमले की घोषणा की।

1944 ब्रिटिश भारत में हैदराबाद रियासत के एक अग्रणी मुस्लिम नेता और ऑल इंडिया मजलिस-ए-इत्तेहादुल मुस्लिमीन और हैदराबाद में खाकसार की शाखाओं के संस्थापक, प्रभावशाली धार्मिक उपदेशक, मजलिस-ए-इत्तेहादुल मुस्लिमीन के अध्यक्ष नवाब बहादुर यार जंग का इंतकाल हुआ।

1947 एन फ्रैंक की डायरी ऑफ ए यंग गर्ल प्रकाशित हुई थी। इसकी 3 करोड़ प्रतियां बिकी और 67 भाषाओं में अनुवादित हुई। यह हिटलर शासित जर्मनी में द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की भुक्तभोगी और दृष्टा थी।

1950 भारत के विख्यात स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी स्वामी सहजानंद सरस्वती का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन कोरियाई गृहयुद्ध आरंभ हुआ। आजादी की लड़ाई लड़ रहे उत्तर और दक्षिण कोरिया के बीच शुरु हुए इस गृह युद्ध ने बाद में अंतरराष्ट्रीय शीतयुद्ध का रूप ले लिया।

1951 अमेरिकी टेलीविजन एवं रेडियो नेटवर्क सीबीएस ने न्यूयार्क से चार शहरों में पहले रंगीन टीवी प्रोग्राम का प्रसारण किया।

1957 किंग जार्ज मेडिकल यूनीवर्सिटी और नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट आफ मेंटल हैल्थ एंड न्यूरोसाइंस से संबद्ध, पद्मश्री सम्मान प्राप्त करने वाले विख्यात भारतीय न्यूरोलाजिस्ट डाॅ. सुनील प्रधान का जन्म नजीबाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। इसी दिन जबलपुर मध्य प्रदेश में जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता, संगीतज्ञ, गायक और मॉडल रघुवीर यादव का जन्म हुआ।

1960 मेडागास्कर को फ्रांस से स्वतंत्र मिली।

1961 भारत के प्रसिद्ध हास्य अभिनेता सतीश शाह का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन इराक ने घोषणा की कि कुवैत इराक का हिस्सा है।

1974 बॉलीवुड की बहुचर्चित बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल करिश्मा कपूर का जन्म का हुआ।

1975 भारत में राष्ट्रीय आपातकाल सेंसरशिप शुरू लागू हुई। आपातकाल का आदेश प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी की सिफारिश पर आधिकारिक तौर पर राष्ट्रपति फखरुद्दीन अली अहमद द्वारा आंतरिक गड़बड़ी के लिए संविधान के अनुच्छेद 352 (1) के तहत जारी किया गया। इस आदेश ने प्रधानमंत्री को डिक्री द्वारा शासन करने का अधिकार दिया, जिससे चुनावों को निलंबित किया जा सके और नागरिक स्वतंत्रता पर अंकुश लगाया जा सके। आम जनता को इससे कोई खास फर्क नहीं पड़ा, लेकिन सरकार के बड़े विरोधी नेताओं, आलोचकों इत्यादि को जेलों में काफी समय रखा गया। विपक्ष का और खासतौर पर आरएसएस, मोदी एंड कंपनी इत्यादि के यह आरोप बेबुनियाद हैं कि आपातकाल के दौरान लोगों को प्रताड़ित किया गया। आरएसएस के अधिकतर लोगों को बख्शा गया, लेकिन समाजवादियों, लोकतंत्रवादियों, कम्युनिस्टों पर अधिक नियंत्रण लगाया गया और नागरिक स्वतंत्रता, आलोचना करना और स्वतंत्र लेखन-पत्रकारिता पर काफी हद तक अंकुश रहा।

1977 आम चुनाव में इंदिरा गांधी एवं उनकी कांग्रेस पार्टी की हार के बाद बनी जनता पार्टी सरकार ने आपातकाल की वर्षगांठ 25 जून को काला दिवस मनाया।

1978 बंबई में मनोरंजन जगत की प्रमुख कारोबारी और वीयू टेलीविजंस की संस्थापक तथा मुखिया देविता सर्राफ का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता, मॉडल और फिल्म निर्माता आफताब शिवदासानी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1981 श्रीलंका और दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री एवं मॉडल पूजा उमाशंकर का जन्म कोलंबो में हुआ।

1983 भारत ने वेस्टइंडीज को 43 रनों से हरा कर पहली बार क्रिकेट विश्व कप जीता।

1985 उत्तर प्रदेश की बहुचर्चित आईएएस अधिकारी दुर्गा शक्ति नागपाल का जन्म आगरा में हुआ।

1998 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति विलियम जेफरसन क्लिंटन 9 दिन की यात्रा पर चीन पहुँचे।

1999 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका द्वारा युगोस्लावियाई राष्ट्रपति स्लोबोदान मिलोसेविच की सूचना देने पर 50 लाख डालर के इनाम की घोषणा की गई।

2002 अफगानिस्तान में नये मंत्रिमंडल ने शपथ ग्रहण किया।

2009 राजस्थान के दसवें मुख्यमंत्री हुए शिव चरण माथुर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन सिंगापुर के शीर्ष अधिवक्ता और भारतीय समुदाय के प्रमुख सदस्य आर. पाल कृष्णन का निधन हुआ।

2004 रूस द्वारा भारत के साथ रणनीतिक साझेदारी बढ़ाने का निर्णय लिया।

2005 महमूद अहमदीनेजाद ईरान के राष्ट्रपति बने।

2010 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुद्री संगठन (आईएमओ) ने 25 जून को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नाविक दिवस मनाने का फैसला किया। बाद में इसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ ने भी अपने पालन की सूची में शामिल कर लिया। आईएमओ के अनुमान के मुताबिक, जहाज दुनिया के लगभग 90 प्रतिशत माल परिवहन करते हैं। इस दिन का उद्देश्य विश्व अर्थव्यवस्था और नागरिक समाज में नाविकों के योगदान के लिए उनके प्रति कृतज्ञता ज्ञापित करने का है। उन जोखिमों और व्यक्तिगत लागतों के लिए सराहने का है जो नाविक अपनी नौकरी के दौरान वहन करते हैं। यह दिन न केवल नाविकों के अमूल्य काम को स्वीकार करता है, बल्कि इसका उद्देश्य समुद्री डकैती जैसे उनके काम और जीवन को प्रभावित करने वाले मुद्दों पर वैश्विक ध्यान आकर्षित करने का भी है। यह सरकारों से ऐसी नीतियां विकसित करने का आह्वान करता है जिससे बंदरगाहों पर नाविकों साथ ही नौवहन के उद्यम में जुड़े सभी तरह के कार्मिकों और कारोबारियों के साथ उचित व्यवहार हो सके, और निजी जहाज कंपनियों और मालिकों से अपने कर्मचारियों को समुद्र में रहने के दौरान उचित सुविधाएं और आराम प्रदान करने के लिए कहा जाए।

2013 उत्तराखंड में बाढ़ के दौरान रेस्क्यू मिशन में लगा वायुसेना का एक हेलिकॉप्टर दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुआ। हादसे में क्रू मेंबर्स समेत 20 लोग मारे गए। इसी दिन कतर के पिछले अमीर, शेख हमद बिन खलीफा अल थानी का चौथा बेटा तमीम बिन हमद अल थानी कतर का आठवां अमीर बना। वह अपने पिता के पद त्याग करने के बाद कतर के अमीर के पद पर नियुक्त दुनिया का सबसे कम उम्र का शासक हुआ।

1975 National Emergency censorship started in India. The Proclamation of Emergency was officially issued under Article 352(1) of the Constitution for internal disturbances by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed on the recommendation of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The order empowered the prime minister to rule by decree, thereby suspending elections and curtailing civil liberties. It didn't make much difference to the general public, but big anti-government leaders, critics etc. were kept in jails for a long time.
