1952 इंटिग्रेटेड सर्किट की अवधारणा पहली बार जियोफ्रे डमर में प्रकाशित हुआ। यह सभी आधुनिक कंप्यूटरों का आधार है।

1956 ब्रिटेन के विदेश मंत्री ने धूम्रपान के विरोध में किए जा रहे तमाम अभियानों को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि धूम्रपान के बुरे प्रभावों के तथ्य अभी सामने नहीं आए हैं।

1982 दुनिया की प्रमुख तकनीकी और कंप्यूटर कंपनी आईबीएम ने पीसी-डीओएस का वर्जन 1.1 जारी किया।

1989 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी राजविंदर सिंह का जन्म पटियाला में हुआ। इसी दिन भारतीय मूल के ब्रितानी लेखक सलमान रश्दी के विरुद्ध ईरान के सर्वाच्च नेता अयातुल्लाह खुमैनी के फतवे के बाद ब्रिटेन और ईरान के बीच राजनयिक संपर्क टूट गया। बेहद चर्चित रश्दी के उपन्यास द सेटेनिक वर्सेस (शैतान की आयतें) के प्रकाशन पर मुस्लिम जगत में तीव्र प्रतिक्रिया हुई और इसे पैगंबर मोहम्मद के खिलाफ बताते हुए रश्दी के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की गई। भारत सहित दुनिया भर के तमाम देशों में इस किताब पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया। खुमैनी ने रश्दी को मारने वाले को एक कराड़ रुपये ईनाम देने की घोषणा की।

1993 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी सहित दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अमीरा दस्तूर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

2022 भारत के प्रधान न्यायाधीश एनवी रमना ने चिकित्सकों के खिलाफ बढ़ती हिंसा और उनके खिलाफ झूठे मामले दर्ज किए जाने पर गंभीर चिंता व्यक्त की। न्यायमूर्ति रमना ने कहा कि वह डॉक्टरों की अटूट भावना के प्रति सम्मान व्यक्त करना चाहेंगे जो अपने मरीजों के लिए चौबीसों घंटे काम करते हैं। न्यायमूर्ति रमना ने कहा कि डॉक्टर परामर्शदाता, मार्गदर्शक, दोस्त और सलाहकार होते हैं। उन्हें हमेशा समाज के सक्रिय सदस्य बने रहना चाहिए और लोगों की समस्याओं का समाधान करना चाहिए। प्रधान न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति रमना ने कहा कि डॉक्टरों के खिलाफ बढ़ती हिंसा को देखकर मुझे बेहद दुख होता है। ईमानदार और मेहनती डॉक्टरों के खिलाफ कई झूठे मामले दर्ज किए जा रहे हैं। उन्हें काम करने के बेहतर और अधिक सुरक्षित माहौल की जरूरत है। 7 मई शनिवार को न्यायमूर्ति रमना ने डॉ. कर्नल सीएस पंत और डॉ. वनीता कपूर की ओर से लिखी गई पुस्तक एटलस ऑफ ब्रेस्ट इलास्टोग्राफी एंड अल्ट्रासाउंड गाइडेड फाइन नीडल साइटोलॉजी के विमोचन अवसर पर बोलते हुए कहा कि यह वह जगह है जहां पेशेवर चिकित्सा संघ बहुत महत्व रखते हैं। उन्हें डॉक्टरों की मांगों को उठाने में सक्रिय रहना होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि महिलाएं देश की आबादी का 50 प्रतिशत हैं और वे परिवार और समाज की रीढ़ हैं और इसलिए, उनके स्वास्थ्य को समाज तथा नीतियों में समान रूप से स्थान मिलना चाहिए। न्यायमूर्ति रमना बोले कि लोग, विशेष रूप से घर में महिलाएं, अपने स्वास्थ्य को छोड़कर सभी के स्वास्थ्य का ख्याल रखती हैं। परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों, विशेष रूप से पति और बच्चों का यह कर्तव्य है कि वे उसे नियमित स्वास्थ्य जांच के वास्ते भेजें जिससे कि वह अपने शरीर और स्वास्थ्य को समझने की स्थिति में हो सके। न्यायमूर्ति रमना ने कहा कि हमें एक पत्नी या मां के महत्व का एहसास तब होता है जब वह नहीं होती है। मुझे एहसास है कि भले ही मेरी माँ का 80 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ हो, लेकिन आज तक मुझे अपनी माँ के खोने का एहसास है। इसलिए प्रत्येक परिवार को उस गृहिणी के महत्व को पहचानना चाहिए जो पूरे परिवार की देखभाल करती है।

2023 विश्व भर में विश्व हास्य दिवस मनाया गया। यह दिन हंसी को प्रोत्साहित करने, हंसी के महत्व को रेखांकित करने के लिए प्रति वर्ष मई के पहले रविवार को मनाया जाता है।
