1841 महान सोवियत समाजवादी नेता जोसेफ स्टालिन रूस के प्रधानमंत्री बने। रूसी समाजवादी क्रांति के नेतृत्वकर्ता और बाद में रूसी राज्यों के एकीकरण के बाद सोवियत संघ गठित करने वाले व्लादिमीर लेनिन की मृत्यु के बाद कामरेड स्टालिन प्रधानमंत्री चुने गये।

1856 ऑस्ट्रियाई मनोवैज्ञानिक सिगमंड फ्रायड का जन्म हुआ।

1857 ब्रिटिश ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी ने बंगाल नेटिव इंफैंटरी की 34वीं रेजिमेंट भंग की। रेजिमेंट के सिपाही मंगल पांडेय ने ब्रिटिश शासन के खिलाफ विद्रोह किया था।

1861 पं. मोतीलाल नेहरू का जन्म हुआ। स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी और भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू के पिता पंडित मोतीलाल नेहरू के दादा और भाई वकील थे, मोतीलाल नेहरू ने भी वकालत पढ़ी वकालत करने लगे। पश्चिमी पहनावे और रंग-ढंग से प्रभावित मोतीलाल ने 1918 में महात्मा गांधी के संपर्क में आने के बाद देसी कपड़े पहनने शुरू किये और स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में कूद पड़े। जलियांवाला बाग कांड 13 अप्रैल 1919 को हुआ। गांधी के आह्वान के बाद उन्होंने वकालत छोड़ दी और सक्रिय रूप से स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में भाग लेने लगे। 1919 और 1920 में वे कांग्रेस पार्टी के अध्यक्ष बने। 1923 में उन्होंने देशबंधु चित्तरंजन दास के साथ मिलकर स्वराज पार्टी की स्थापना की। 1927 में जब साइमन कमीशन बना तब मोतीलाल नेहरू को स्वतंत्र भारत के संविधान का प्रारूप तैयार करने के लिया कहा गया।

1930 में मोतीलाल नेहरू को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। उनके खराब होते स्वास्थ्य के कारण 1931 में उन्हें रिहा कर दिया गया। 6 फरवरी 1931 को लखनऊ में मोतीलाल नेहरू का निधन हो गया।

1932 जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के प्रमुख उदारवादी कश्मीरी नेता, हुर्रियत कांफ्रेंस के मुखिया अब्दुल गनी लोन का जन्म कुपवाड़ा जिले के दर्द हैरी में हुआ।

1889 फ्रांस की राजधानी पेरिस में स्थित और फ्रांस की वैश्विक पहचान का प्रतीक विश्व प्रसिद्ध एफिल टावर आधिकारिक रूप से जनता के लिए खोला गया।

1910 एडवर्ड सप्तम की मृत्यु के बाद उनके पुत्र जॉर्ज पंचम ब्रिटेन के सम्राट बने।

1911 पहली अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छता प्रदर्शनी ड्रेस्डन में आयोजित की गई और जर्मनी के पांच लाख दर्शकों ने इसे देखा।

1942 फिलीपीन में अमेरिकी सेना की अंतिम टुकड़ी ने जापान के समक्ष समर्पण किया। भारत के प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ एवं मिजोरम के तीसरे मुख्यमंत्री रहे लल थनहवला का जन्म 1942 में हुआ।

1944 महात्मा गांधी को पुणे के आगा खां पैलेस से रिहा किया गया और यह उनके जीवन की अंतिम जेल यात्रा थी।

1946 प्रख्यात भारतीय विधिवेत्ता तथा महात्मा गांधी के विश्वस्त सहयोगी भूलाभाई देसाई का निधन हुआ।

1951 जानी मानी भरत नाट्यम नृत्यांगना, अभिनेत्री, कोरियोग्राफर, निर्देशिका पद्श्री सम्मान प्राप्त करने वाली लीला सैमसन का जन्म हुआ।

1953 ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री हुए टोनी ब्लेयर का जन्म 1953 में हुआ। 1953 में इसी दिन शाहजहांपुर उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रसिद्ध भाजपा नेता और विधायक सुरेश कुमार खन्ना का जन्म हुआ।

1954 लंदन के उद्यान में कई महीने तक दौड़ने का अभ्यास करने वाले मेडिकल छात्र रोजर बैनिस्टर ने एक मील की दूरी तीन मिनट 59.9 सेकंड में पूरी कर विश्व कीर्तिमान स्थापित किया।

1956 जानी मानी भारतीय गुजराती कवियत्री सुजाता भट्ट का जन्म अहमदाबाद में हुआ।

1960 ब्रिटेन की महारानी की छोटी बहन राजकुमारी मार्गरेट और एंथनी आर्मस्ट्रांग जोंस का विवाह. लंदन के वेस्टमिन्स्टर एबे में हुआ। विवाह समारोह करीब दो करोड़ लोगों ने टेलीविजन पर देखा। 1960 में इसी दिन अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति ड्वाइट आइजनहावर ने नागरिक अधिकार अधिनियम 1960 पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इस नए संयुक्त राज्य संघीय कानून ने नागरिक अधिकार अधिनियम 1957 द्वारा छोड़ी गई खामियों को समाप्त कर दिया और मतदान का कानूनी अधिकार दिया। इसमें अश्वेतों से किसी भी प्रकार के भेदभाव की समाप्ति कर दी गई।

1964 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय तैराक खजान सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1965 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म, विज्ञापन, वेबसीरीज और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल असावरी जोशी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1967 जाकिर हुसैन भारत के पहले मुस्लिम राष्ट्रपति बने।

1974 भारत के जाने माने खोजी पत्रकार और लेखक जोसी जोसफ का जन्म हुआ।

1976 उत्तर पूर्वी इटली में भीषण भूकंप से 1000 से अधिक लोगों की मौत हुई। भूकंप के लगातार झटके तीन महसूस किए गए। इनमें सबसे ताकतवर भूकंप 6.5 तीव्रता का था। भूकंप के झटके पोलैंड तक महसूस किए गए।

1981 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी और पश्चिम बंगाल में खेल एवं युवा मामलों के मंत्री रहे लक्ष्मी रतन शुक्ला का जन्म हावड़ा में हुआ।

1983 जाने माने भारतीय राइफल निशानेबाज, ओलंपियन गगन नारंग का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1985 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी पंकज सिंह का जन्म सुल्तानपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। इसी दिन दूसरे विश्वयुद्ध में बैली पुलों के आविष्कारकर्ता सर डोनाल्ड बैली का इंग्लैंड में निधन हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल शहाना गोस्वामी का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। शहाना जाने माने भारतीय बिजनेस पत्रकार और लेखक कारपोरेट रिसर्च ग्रुप एडवाइजरी प्राइवेट लि. कंपनी के मालिक ओमकार गोस्वामी की बेटी हैं।

2002 स्पेस एक्स की शुरुआत हुई। अमेरिका के दिग्गज कारोबारी एलन मस्क ने पेस एक्स की शुरुआत की थी। कंपनी ने छोटी सैटेलाइट को अंतरिक्ष में भेजने के लिए अपना पहला रॉकेट फॉल्कन-1 बनाया था। यह अन्य कई रॉकेट से सस्ता था। मार्च 2006 में पहली बार इसे लॉन्च किया गया। फोर्ब्स के मुताबिक वर्तमान में एलन मस्क दुनिया के दूसरे सबसे अमीर इंसान हैं। वे इलेक्ट्रिक कार बनाने वाली कंपनी टेस्ला के भी मालिक हैं। स्पेस एक्स ने अंतरिक्ष की दुनिया में एकसाथ सबसे ज्यादा 143 सैटेलाइट भेजने का रिकॉर्ड बनाया है। ये उपलब्धि स्पेस एक्स ने अपने रॉकेट फाल्कन-9 से हासिल की। आजकल एलन मस्क दुनिया की दिग्गज सोशल नेटवर्किंग साइट ट्विटर को खरीदने के कारण चर्चित हैं।

2004 चीन ने सिक्किम को भारत का अंग माना।

2005संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने लश्कर-ए-तैयबा को आतंकवादी संगठन की सूची में डाला।

2006 इतिहास प्रसिद्ध समुद्री जहाज टाइटेनिक के डूबने की घटना की अंतिम चश्मदीद गवाह अमेरिकी नागरिक लिलियन एस्प्लंट का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन कुख्यात अमेरिकी खुफिया एजेंसी सीआईए के निदेशक पोर्टर ग्रास ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2007 फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में निकोलस सार्कोजी जीते।

2008 बांग्लादेश में एंटी करप्शन ब्यूरो ने पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री खालिदा जिया के खिलाफ भ्रष्टाचार के मामले में पहली बार आरोप पत्र दाखिल किया।

2010 मुंबई पर हमले के आरोपी आतंकवादी अजमल कसाब को फांसी की सजा सुनाई गई। इसी दिन 2010 में सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के प्रधान न्यायाधीश केजी बालाकृष्णन की अध्यक्षता वाली पांच सदस्यीय संवैधानिक पीठ ने सांसदों को मिलने वाली स्थानीय क्षेत्र विकास निधि की संवैधानिक वैधता को यह कहकर बरकरार रखा कि संसद के पास इसके तहत कोष आवंटित करने की वैध शक्तियां हैं। योजना में सांसदों को उनके निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों के विकास के लिए दो करोड़ रुपए सालाना मिलते हैं। इसी दिन संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) परीक्षा में 195 महिलाओं सहित कुल 875 उम्मीदवार सफल हुए। जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के कुपवाडा के रहने वाले चिकित्सक शाह फैसल ने इसमें सर्वोच्च स्थान हासिल किया।

2012 फॉर्च्यून ने फॉर्च्यून 500 कंपनियों की सूची जारी की जिसमें वालमार्ट के बारे में बताया गया कि यह सबसे अमीर कंपनी बन गई है। 

2020 सरकारी आधिकारिक आंकड़ें के मुताबिक देश में कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण से मरने वाले लोगों की संख्या 1,694 हो गई, जबकि संक्रमण के मामले बढ़ कर 49,391 हो गये।

2021 जाने माने पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश के जाट राजनेता, राष्ट्रीय लोकदल के प्रमुख अजीत सिंह का निधन हुआ। अजीत सिंह पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री चौ. चरण सिंह के पुत्र थे।
