1260 कुबलाई खां मंगोल साम्राज्य का राजा बना। कुबलई खान मंगोल साम्राज्य का पाँचवा खागान हुआ। कुबलई खान ने 1294 तक शासन किया। वह पूर्वी एशिया में युआन वंश का संस्थापक था। उसका राज्य प्रशांत महासागर से लेकर यूराल और साइबेरिया से अफगानिस्तान तक था। यह विश्व के रहने योग्य क्षेत्रफल का करीब 20 प्रतिशत है।

1479 पंजाब के गोविंदवाल साहिब में तेज भान भल्ला और भक्त कौर के बेटे का जन्म हुआ। यह बालक आगे चलकर सिखों का तीसरा गुरु अमरदास कहलाया।

1762 रूस और प्रशा ने सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1809 रेशम और धागे के साथ पुआल की टोपी बुनाई की तकनीक विकसित करने के लिए पहली अमेरिकी महिला मैरी किस को पेटेंट मिला।

1818 प्रसिद्ध जर्मन दार्शनिक, लेखक, पत्रकार, अर्थशास्त्री और सामाजिक वैज्ञानिक, समाजवादी शासन का दर्शन देने वाले, शोषितों, वंचितों के मसीहा, पहली समाजवादी क्रांति ‘पेरिस कम्यून’ के नेता कार्ल मार्क्स का जन्म हुआ।

1836 बेल्जियम में यूरोप की पहली रेल लाईन शुरू हुई थी।

1821 फ्रांस के सर्वोच्च सैन्य अधिकारी और शक्तिशाली शासन प्रमुख रहे नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट का सेंट हेलेना द्वीप पर बीमारी के कारण निधन हुआ।

1883 स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान सुरेन्द्र नाथ बनर्जी जेल जाने वाले पहले पत्रकार बने।

1903 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अधिवक्ता, गांधीवादी नेता, राजनीतिज्ञ और स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अविनाशलिंगम चेट्टियार का जन्म हुआ।

1911 बंगाल की स्वतंत्रता सेनानी प्रीतिलता वादेदार जन्म हुआ।

1912 स्वीडन के स्टॉकहोम में पाँचवें ओलंपिक खेलों की शुरुआत हुई। इसके साथ ही ओलंपिक खेलों के उद्घाटन और समापन के लिए समारोह आयोजित करने की परम्परा शुरु हुई। 1912 इसी दिन बोल्शेविक अखबार प्रावदा को पहली बार रूस के सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग में प्रकाशित किया गया।

1916 भारत के सातवें राष्ट्रपति हुए ज्ञानी जैल सिंह जन्म संधवां, फरीदकोट, पंजाब में हुआ।

1919 पेरिस में रेडक्रॉस सोसायटी की स्थापना हुई।

1922 तमिल सिनेमा की प्रथम स्वपन सुंदरी कही गई अभिनेत्री तंजावुर राधाकृष्णन राजायी यानी टीआर राजकुमारी का जन्म तंजावुर में हुआ। इसी दिन ब्रोंक्स में यांकी स्टेडियम का निर्माण शुरू हुआ। 

1926 पहली बार जर्मनी में आइंसटीन की फिल्म बैटलशिप पोटेमकिन दिखाई गई।

1929 प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारी अब्दुल हमीद कैसर का जन्म हुआ।

1932 जापान और चीन के मध्य शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए।

1934 प्रसिद्ध बांग्ला फिल्म, थिएटर एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री और नृत्यांगना तथा माॅडल चित्रा सेन का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1935 राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेता हिंदी-गुजराती साहित्यकार, कार्टूनिस्ट आबिद सुरती का जन्म हुआ।

1936 इटली के सैनिकों ने इथियोपिया की राजधानी अदीस अबाबा पर कब्जा किया।

1944 महात्मा गांधी को जेल से रिहा किया गया।

1949 झारखंड पार्टी की स्थापना हुई।

1951 खेलने के लिए बनाया गया पहला कंप्यूटर ब्रिटेन में प्रदर्शित किया गया।

1953 प्रथम भारतीय वित्त मंत्री आर. के. शनमुखम चेट्टी का निधन हुआ।

1954 हरियाणा के वर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री एवं भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता मनोहर लाल खट्टर का जन्म हुआ।

1956 संगीत और मनोरंजन जगत के प्रमुख कारोबारी सुपर कैसेट इंडस्ट्री और टी-सीरिज के मुखिया गुलशन कुमार दुआ का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1959 हजारों करोड़ बैंक धोखाधड़ी कर विदेश भाग जाने वाले प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के मित्र, जिन्होंने कभी उन्हें ‘अपने मेहुल भाई’ कहा था, मेहुल चोकसी का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1961 गणितज्ञ, हिंदी विश्वकोश के संपादक तथा हिंदी में वैज्ञानिक साहित्य के बहुप्रतिभाशाली लेखक गोरख प्रसाद का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन अमेरिका के पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्री कमांडर ऐलन शेपर्ड अपने अंतरिक्ष यान से अटलांटिक महासागर में उतरे। उन्हें एक हेलीकाप्टर ने पानी से बाहर निकाला और शेपर्ड ने अपनी इस यात्रा को शानदार सैर करार दिया।

1963 भारत राष्ट्र समिति की नेता एवं तेलंगाना सरकार में शिक्षा मंत्री पट्टोला सबिता इंदिरा रेड्डी का जन्म मेडक में हुआ।

1970 भारत के प्रसिद्ध निशानेबाज समरेश जंग का जन्म हुआ।

1973 जाने माने गीतकार, पत्रकार, रेडियो स्टोरीटेलर, लेखक नीलेश मिश्रा का जन्म हुआ।

1977 जानी मानी भारतीय चक्का फेंक खिलाड़ी यानी डिस्कस थ्रोअर और राजस्थान विधान सभा की सदस्य कृष्णा पूनिया का जन्म अग्रोहा में हुआ।

1980 लंदन स्थित ईरानी दूतावास को कुछ हमलावरों से ब्रिटिश पुलिस ने आजाद कराया गया था। इसमें कई हमलावर मारे गये।

1984 पर्वतारोही फू दोरजी बिना ऑक्सीजन के एवरेस्ट फतह करने वाले पहले भारतीय बने।

1985 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड कन्नड़, तमिल, मलयालम, तेलुगू फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल शेरिन श्रिंगार का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी माॅडल, अभिनेत्री और मनोरंजन कारोबारी विशाखा सिंह का जन्म आबु धाबी, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात में हुआ।

1988 एवरेस्ट की चोटी से पहला टेलीविजन प्रसारण किया गया।

1989 दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री राई लक्ष्मी यानी लक्ष्मी राय का जन्म हुआ।

1994 ब्रिटेन में स्थानीय चुनाव में लेबर पार्टी ने कंजरवेटिव पार्टी को हराया।

1999 रोजाने प्रोदी यूरोपीय संघ के कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष बने।

2003 भारत-बांग्लादेश संयुक्त नदी आयोग की बैठक सिलहट में शुरू हुई और इसी दिन बेल्जियम में गुय वेरहोफ्सराड के नेतृत्व वाली गठबंधन सरकार का पतन हुआ।

2005 ब्रिटेन में लेबर पार्टी के नेता टोनी ब्लेयर तीसरी बार प्रधानमंत्री बने।

2006 भारत के प्रमुख फिल्म संगीत निर्देशक नौशाद अली का निधन हुआ।

2008 एनटीपीसी के रिहंद सुपर थर्मल पॉवर प्रोजेक्ट को लगातार तीसरे वर्ष ग्रीनटेक गोल्ड सेफ्टी अवार्ड मिला। 2008 में इसी दिन शास्त्रीय गायक, संगीतज्ञ पद्मविभूषण पं. किशन महाराज का अन्तिम संस्कार हुआ। इसी दिन डिस्पोजल सीरिंज के आविष्कारक न्यूजीलैंड के कोलिन मार्डोक का निधन हुआ।

2009 पाकिस्तान की स्वात घाटी को तालिबान उग्रवादियों के कब्जे से मुक्त कराने के लिए प्रस्तावित सैन्य कार्रवाई को देखते हुए इलाके के हजारों लोगों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर ले जाया गया।

2010 आंध्र प्रदेश के श्री हरिकोटा अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से इसरो द्वारा विकसित नई पीढ़ी के उच्च क्षमता वाले साउंडिंग रॉकेट को परीक्षण उड़ान पर भेजा गया।। इसे देसी रॉकेटों में अब तक का सबसे भारी रॉकेट बताया गया, जिसमें एयर ब्रीथिंग तकनीक वाले स्क्रैमजेट इंजन मॉड्यूल का इस्तेमाल किया गया। 2010 में इसी दिन राजस्थान सरकार द्वारा गुर्जरों को 1 प्रतिशत आरक्षण तत्काल और 4 प्रतिशत का बैकलॉग रखने के समझौते के बाद गुर्जरों ने आंदोलन समाप्त किया। इसी दिन 2010 में सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने संदिग्ध अपराधियों पर किए जाने वाले नारको एनालिसिस, ब्रेन मैपिंग अथवा पोलीग्राफ टेस्ट जैसी जांच को अस्वीकार कर दिया और इसे निजी स्वतंत्रता के मौलिक अधिकार का उल्लंघन बताया। 2010 में इसी दिन इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय (इग्नू) ने सभी कोर्सों में सेक्स वर्कर्स और उनके आश्रितों की फीस माफ करने की घोषणा की।

2017 साउथ एशिया सैटेलाइट इसरो ने सफलतापूर्वक लॉन्च किया। इसी दिन भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय की प्रथम महिला न्यायाधीश लीला सेठ का निधन हुआ।
