1930 महात्मा गांधी अपने सहयोगियों, अनुयायियों के साथ नमक कानून तोडने के लिए गुजरात के दांडी पहुंचे।

1940 महात्मा गांधी के नितांत करीबी मित्र और समाज सुधारक सी एफ एंड्रयूज का निधन हुआ।

1947 जाने माने ब्रिटिश राजनेता और लेबर पार्टी के सांसद वीरेंद्र कुमार का जन्म मंढाली, पंजाब, भारत में हुआ।

1949 भारत स्काउट एंड गाइड की स्थापना हुई।

1961 भारत सरकार ने दवा निर्माण कंपनी इंडियन ड्रग्स एंड फार्मास्यूटिकल लिमिटेड की स्थापना की। इसी दिन मराठी सिनेमा के विख्यात रंगकर्मी, फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेता प्रशांत दामले का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1963 संदीप त्रिवेदी का जन्म हुआ। संदीप जाने माने भारतीय सैद्धांतिक भौतिक विज्ञानी, मुंबई टाटा इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर फंडामेंटल रिसर्च के निदेशक हुए।

1970 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम फिल्म, टेलीविजन एवं मंच कलाकार तथा माॅडल तेस्नी खान का जन्म कोच्चि में हुआ।

1974 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय पर्वतारोही डिकी डोल्मा का जन्म कुल्लू, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ। डिकी 10 मई 1993 को 19 साल की उम्र में माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली सबसे कम उम्र की महिला होने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं।

1975 सउदी अरब के राजा फैजल की हत्या हुई।

1977 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम सिने तारिका, कोरियोग्राफर, नर्तकी, नृत्य विशेषज्ञ और शिक्षक मेथिल देविका का जन्म पलक्कड़ में हुआ।

1979 प्रथम भारतीय नौसेना संग्रहालय बंबई में खुला।

1983 मलयालम सिनेमा और टेलीविजन की लोकप्रिय कलाकार, माॅडल, अभिनेत्री ज्योतिर्मयी का जन्म कोट्टायम में हुआ।

1993 काफी अल्प समय में अपने शानदार अभिनय से बेहद मशहूर हुई बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री दिव्या भारती की वर्सोवा, मुंबई स्थित घर के पांचवें माले से रहस्यमय तरीके से गिरने से मौत हो गई।

1989 गुजराती भाषा के जाने माने साहित्यकार पन्नालाल पटेल का निधन हुआ।
