65 फ्रीडमैन मिलिचस ने रोमन सम्राट नीरो के शासन का अंत कर दिया और उसके समर्थकों को सजा दी। नीरो क्लॉडियस सीजर ऑगस्टस जर्मेनिकस, पाँचवाँ रोमन सम्राट और जूलियो-क्लाउडियन राजवंश का अंतिम सम्राट था, जिसने 54 ईस्वी सन् से 68 ईस्वी में अपनी मृत्यु तक शासन किया। उसे 13 वर्ष की आयु में रोमन सम्राट क्लॉडियस द्वारा अपनाया गया था और उसके बाद उसका उत्तराधिकारी बना। यह रोम का सबसे बदनाम और बर्बर तानाशाह हुआ। कहते हैं नीरो अपनी मां एग्रिप्पिना के निर्देशन में काम करता था जो बहुत महत्वाकांक्षी, भ्रष्ट और पतित थी। वह नीरो को अपनी यौन क्षुदा शांत करने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल करती थी।

797 बीजेंटाइन सम्राट कांस्टेनटाइन छठे को उसकी मां इरीन के समर्थकों ने पकड़ लिया गया, अंधा कर कैद कर लिया गया।

1451 बहलोल लोदी ने दिल्ली पर कब्जा किया। बहलोल खान लोदी दिल्ली के लोदी वंश का प्रथम सुलतान बना, जब पिछले सैयद वंश का अंतिम शासक पदच्युत हुआ। बहलोल अफगान व्यापारियों के परिवार में पैदा हुआ था। वह एक प्रसिद्द योद्धा होकर पंजाब का राज्यपाल बना। दिल्ली में 19 अप्रैल 1451 को काबिज हुआ और सैयद राजवंश के स्थान पर लोदी सल्तनत कायम की।

1713 पुत्रविहीन रोमन सम्राट चार्ल्स छठे ने उत्तराधिकार सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अपनी बेटियों में से एक हैब्सबर्ग को व्यावहारिक स्वीकृति दी।

1770 कैप्टन जेम्स कुक ऑस्ट्रेलिया पहुंचने वाले पहले पश्चिमी व्यक्ति बने।

1775 ब्रिटिश दासता से स्वतत्रता प्राप्ति हेतु अमेरिकी क्रांति की शुरुआत हुई। यह अमेरिकी क्रांतिकारी युद्ध मैसाचुसेट्स के ब्रिटिश उपनिवेश में लाॅक्सटन और कॉनकॉर्ड की लड़ाई के साथ शुरू हुआ।

1780 भारत के अवध प्रांत के प्रसिद्ध नवाब वज़ीर अली खान का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ।

1852 अमेरिका में कैलिफोर्निया हिस्टोरिकल सोसायटी का गठन हुआ।

1882 कलकत्ता में पहले प्रसूति अस्पताल की शुरुआत हुई।

1882 प्रसिद्ध जीवविज्ञानी चार्ल्स डार्विन का निधन हुआ। 1859 में आई चार्ल्स डार्विन की ओरिजन ऑफ स्पीशीज किताब ने दुनिया को नए तरह से देखने का दृष्टिकोण प्रस्तुत कया। जीव विज्ञान में महत्वपूर्ण थ्योरीज देने वाले डार्विन को श्जीवन की उत्पत्तिश् के बारे में मूलभूत सिद्धांतों के लिए जाना जाता है। पृथ्वी पर जीवन की शुरुआत और विकास के बारे में डार्विन ने वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण और तथ्यों के आधार पर जो सिद्धांत दिए, उनसे अनेक प्रचलित धारणाएं तथा मान्यताएं बदल गईं।

1864 पंजाब के प्रसिद्ध आर्य समाजी नेता, समाज सुधारक और शिक्षाविद महात्मा हंसराज का जन्म हुआ।

1910 हैली पुच्छल तारा पहली बार खुली आँखों से देखा गया।

1919 अमेरिका के लेस्ली इरविन ने पैराशूट से पहली छलांग लगायी।

1931 लोकप्रिय पाकिस्तानी फिल्म अभिनेता मोहम्मद अली का जन्म रामपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1933 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष सैयद हसन इमाम का निधन हुआ।

1936 फिलिस्तीन में यहूदियों के खिलाफ दंगे शुरू हुए।

1945 केरल के मेजर आर्कबिशप आॅफ सायरोमालाबार कैथोलिक चर्च और कैथोलिक चर्च के कार्डिनल, इसाई संत, धर्मगुरु तथा समाजसेवी जार्ज अलेनचेरी का जन्म थुरुथी में हुआ। इसी दिन फिल्म, टेलीविजन और थिएटर की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री सुरेखा सीकरी का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ।

1947 अमेरिका के नगर टेक्सास बंदरगाह के पास एक फ्रांसीसी जहाज के फटने से 522 लोग मारे गए।

1948 समाजवादी विप्लव के दौर में च्यांग काई शेक चीन के राष्ट्रपति बने।

1950 आरएसएस के संगठन जनसंघ के नेता श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी ने पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू के केंद्रीय मंत्रीमंडल से इस्तीफा दिया।

1955 प्रसिद्ध चिकित्सक और संरक्षणवादी जिम कार्बेट का निधन हुआ।

1956 विख्यात अमेरिकी फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल ग्रेस केली ने मोनाको के राजकुमार रेनियर तृतीय से शादी की। इसी दिन भारतीय हिंदी, पंजाबी और दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों के अभिनेता, निर्माता एवं माॅडल मुकेश ऋषि का जन्म कठुआ, जम्मू एवं कश्मीर में हुआ। इसी दिन आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे वाईएस राजशेखर रेड्डी की पत्नी राजनीतिज्ञ येदुगुरी संदिती विजयलक्ष्मी या वाइएस विजयम्मा का जन्म कडपा में हुआ।

2008 उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश में भूमि अधिग्रहण करने के लिए नई कमेटी बनाने की घोषणा की। पाकिस्तान ने परमाणु हथियार ले जाने में सक्षम 2000 किलोमीटर की मारक क्षमता वाले प्रक्षेपास्त्र शहीन-2 का सफल परीक्षण किया। फ्रेंच गुयाना स्थित यूरोप के अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र कौरू से एरियन-5 रॉकेट से ब्राजील व वियतनाम के दो दूर संचार उपग्रह एक साथ प्रक्षेपित किये गए।

2011 लंबे समय से बीमार चल रहे क्यूबा के राष्ट्रपति फिदेल कास्त्रो ने कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ क्यूबा की केन्द्रीय समिति में 45 वर्षों तक बने रहने के बाद पद से इस्तीफा दिया।
