769 प्राचीन रोम की लेटरन काउंसिल ने उस पेपल चुनावी प्रक्रिया में सुधार किया जिसके तहत शासक कॉन्स्टेंटाइन द्वितीय और फिलिप और अन्य की शक्तियां ज्यादा बढ़ा दी गई थीं। सुधार कार्रवाई में राजा को सुप्रीम काउंसिल के अधीन किया गया।

1071 रॉबर्ट गुइस्कार्ड के नेतृत्व में नॉर्मन सेना ने बीजेंटाइन के एक प्रांत इटली के कैटेपैनेट पर कब्जा किया।

1452 इटली के विश्व विख्यात चित्रकार और मूर्तिकार हुए लिओनार्दो दा विंची का जन्म हुआ। लिओनार्दो के जन्म के वक्त उनके माता-पिता की शादी नहीं हुई थी। 15 अप्रैल 1452 को जन्मे लिओनार्दो दा विंची ने 14 साल की उम्र में शौकिया तौर पर मूर्तियां बनानी शुरू कीं। लोगों को उनका काम पसंद आया और उनकी प्रतिभा को देखकर पिता ने लिओनार्दो को एक प्रतिष्ठित मूर्तिकार के पास फ्रांस भेज दिया। यहां उनकी प्रतिभा और निखरी। विंची की बनाई मशहूर पेटिंग मोनालिसा फ्रांस की राजधानी पेरिस के लूव्र म्यूजियम में है। हर साल इसे देखने लाखों लोग लूव्र पहुंचते हैं। मोनालिसा पेंटिंग के ऊपर पूरी दुनिया में सबसे ज्यादा रिसर्च हुई है, आज तक ये सर्वाधिक चर्चित पेंटिंग कौतूहल का विष बनी हुई है। कहते है कि इस पेंटिंग में लिओनार्दो लगातार बदलाव करते रहते थे, क्योंकि उन्हें लगता था कि ये पेंटिंग अभी पूरी तरह बनी नहीं है।

1469 पैगंबर, दार्शनिक, राजयोगी, गृहस्थ, त्यागी, धर्मसुधारक, समाज-सुधारक, कवि, संगीतज्ञ, देशभक्त, विश्वबन्धु सभी के गुण संपन्न गुरु नानक का जन्म हुआ। 15 अप्रैल 1469 को तलवंडी राय भोइ (अब ननकाना साहिब, पाकिस्तान) में जन्में  पंजाब के खत्री कारोबारी मेहता कालू और माता तृप्ता के बालक को नानक का नाम दिया गया। उन्होंने धार्मिक सौहार्द्र को सर्वोपरि बताया और सिख धर्म की नींव रखी। वह कई भाषाओं के ज्ञाता थे और उन्होंने दुनिया के विविध स्थानों की यात्राएं कीं। इनको मानने वाले इनका जन्म दिन कार्तिक पूर्णिमा को गुरुपरब के नाम से मनाते हैं, दीपाली के बाद यह अवसर प्रायः नवंबर महीने में आता है।

1563 सिक्खों के पांचवें गुरु हुए अर्जन देव (गुरु राम दास और माता भानी के बेटे) का जन्म गोइंदवाल जिला तरनतारन पंजाब में हुआ।

1658 धरमत युद्ध में औरंगजेब ने राजा जसवत सिंह को हराया। जसवंत को औरंगजेब के भाई दारा शिकोह और शाहजहां (औरंगजेब के पिता) ने औरंगजेब से लड़ाई करने के लिए भेजा था।

1716 ग्रेट नॉर्दर्न वॉर के तहत प्रशियाई सैनिकों ने स्वीडन के जर्मन नियंत्रण वाले विस्मर बंदरगाह पर कब्जा किया।

1738 फारस के जेरेक्स प्रथम पर आधारित जर्मन-ब्रिटिश बारोक संगीतकार जॉर्ज फ्राइडरिक हेंडेल का एक नाटक, लॉर्ड्स का प्रीमियर लंदन में हुआ।

1755 शेमूएल जॉनसन की किताब, ए डिक्शनरी ऑफ द इंग्लिश लैंग्वेज लंदन में प्रकाशित की गयी।

1802 प्रसिद्ध अंग्रेजी कवि विलियम वर्ड्सवर्थ और उनकी बहन डोरोथीकेन ने वर्ड्सवर्थ लिखित गीत आई वंडर्ड लोनली ए क्लाउड की मंच प्रस्तुति डफोडिल्स में दी। यह गीत बहुत लोकप्रिय हुआ।

1817 अमेरिका में बधिर बच्चों के लिए पहला स्कूल खोला गया।

1877 जापान के टोक्यो विश्वविद्यालय आधिकारिक तौर पर स्थापित किया गया।

1895 महाराष्ट्र के राजनेता बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने रायगढ़ किले में शिवाजी उत्सव का उद्घाटन किया।

1919 मार्शल ऑफ द एयर फोर्स अर्जन सिंह डीएफसी का जन्म फैसलाबाद, पाकिस्तान की धरती पर हुआ। अर्जन सिंह भारतीय वायु सेना के एकमात्र अधिकारी थे जिन्हें मार्शल ऑफ द एयर फोर्स पर पदोन्नत किया गया था। 16 सितंबर 2017 को 98 वर्ष की आयु में इनका निधन हुआ।

1922 हिंदी फिल्मों के मशहूर गीतकार हसरत जयपुरी यानी इकबाल हसन का जन्म जयपुर में हुआ। जीना यहां मरना यहां इसके सिबा जाना कहां और तुम मुझे यूं भुला न पाओगे जैसे तमाम लोकप्रिय गीत हसरत जयपुरी ने लिखे।

1923 डाईबिटीज से पीड़ित लोगों के लिए इंसुलिन बाजार में प्रस्तुत किया गया।

1948 हिमाचल प्रदेश राज्य की स्थापना हुई।

1953 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चिकित्सक, फिजीशियन और स्वास्थ्य चिकित्सा की जानी मानी भारतीय निजी कंपनी ऐस्टर डीएम हैल्थकेयर के प्रबंध निदेशक आज़ाद मूपन का जन्म कलपकनचेरी में हुआ।

1955 रे क्रास ने मैकडोनाल्ड रेस्तरां की पहली ब्रांच कैलिफोर्निया, अमेरिका में खोली। आज 100 से ज्यादा देशों में कंपनी के 36 हजार से भी ज्यादा आउटलेट हैं। हर दिन लगभग 5 करोड़ लोग यहां से खाना ऑर्डर करते हैं। इससे रेस्टोरेंट को 5 अरब रुपए से भी ज्यादा की कमाई होती है। 2020 में कंपनी का रेवेन्यू 19.21 बिलियन डॉलर यानी 144 हजार करोड़ रुपए था। भारत में मैकडोनाल्ड के 500 से भी अधिक रेस्तरां हैं।

1960 मध्य प्रदेश के प्रमुख भारतीय जनता पार्टी’ नेता नरोत्तम मिश्रा का जन्म हुआ।

1962 प्रसिद्ध पंजाबी गायक सुरजीत बिंदरखिया का जन्म रूपनगर, पंजाब में हुआ।

1963 मशहूर भारतीय क्रिकेटर मनोज प्रभाकर का जन्म गाजियाबाद में हुआ।

1970 जानी मानी राजस्थानी भारतीय अभिनेत्री, नृतक और टेलीविजन कलाकार, स्टार प्लस के शो की संतोषी राठी उर्फ भाभो अरुनील फिल्म्स राजस्थानी फिल्म निर्माण कंपनी की मालकिन नीलू वाघेला जन्म जयपुर में हुआ।

1972 जानी मानी टेलीविजन एवं फिल्म अभिनेत्री, क्रिकेट ग्लैमर और फैशन आइकन, माॅडल और अपनी ग्लैमर्स तस्वीरों के लिए मशहूर मंदिरा बेदी का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ। इन्होंने निर्माता, निर्देशक राज कौशल से विवाह किया।

1975 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय टेलीविजन शो निर्माता, प्रस्तोता, एम टी वी इंडिया के सीनियर सुपरवाईसिंग प्रोडूसर और रियलिटी शो एमटीवी रोडीस तथा एमटीवी स्प्लिट्सविला के निर्माता रघु राम अंबादापुडी का जन्म मछलीपट्टनम में हुआ। रघु राम जानी मानी अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सुगंधा वर्मा के पति हैं।

1976 भारत ने 15 साल में पहली बार बीजिंग में अपना दूत भेजने की घोषणा की।

1977 विभिन्न भारतीय भाषाओं की फिल्मों में अभिनय करने वाली और जानी मानी माॅडल साक्षी शिवानंद का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन सुदर्शन पटनायक का जन्म पुरी में हुआ। पटनायक भारत के ओडिशा के प्रसिद्ध रेत-कलाकार हैं। उनको कला के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए 2014 में भारत सरकार ने पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया। पटनायक रेत से कलाकृतियाँ बनाते हैं।

1979 मशहूर कनाडाई फिल्म अभिनेत्री और गायिका कैरेन डेविड का जन्म भारत के मेघालय राज्य की राजधानी शिलोंग में हुआ।

1980 भारत में 6 प्राइवेट बैंक राष्ट्रीयकृत किए गए।

1981 पाकिस्तान एयरवेज के अपहृत बोइंग 720 विमान को दो हफ्ते बाद सीरिया से छुड़ाया गया। इसमें सवार 147 लोगों को छुड़ाने के लिए पाकिस्तान सरकार को जेल में बंद 54 लोगों को छोड़ना पड़ा।

1983 भारत के प्रसिद्ध कबड्डी खिलाड़ी राकेश कुमार का जन्म निज़ामपुर, पंजाब में हुआ।

1986 कथित आतंकी विरोधी कार्रवाई के तहत अमेरिकी सशस्त्र बलों ने लीबिया पर बमबारी शुरू की।

1990 मिखाइल सर्गेइविच गोर्बाच्योव सोवियत संघ के अंतिम राष्ट्रपति बने। इसके बाद सोवियत संघ का विघटन हो गया।

1998 थंपी गुरु के नाम से प्रसिद्ध फ्रेडरिक लेंज का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने सिद्धांत दिया कि प्रेरित धारा की दिशा सदा ऐसी होती है जो उस कारण का विरोध करती है जिससे वह स्वयं उत्पन्न होती है।

2000 आतंकवाद से निपटने के लिए सहयोग के आहवान के साथ जी -77 शिखर सम्मेलन क्यूबा की राजधानी हवाना में सम्पन्न हुआ।

2002 एयर चाइना का विमान 129 कोरिया के पुसान के पास एक पहाड़ में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गई, जिसमें 128 लोगों की जान चली गई।

2004 फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति जैक शिराक ने उस कानून पर हस्ताक्षर किए, जिसके जरिए सरकारी स्कूलों में किसी भी तरह के धार्मिक चिन्ह पहनने पर पाबंदी लगा दी गई।

2010 भारत में निर्मित पहले क्रायोजेनिक रॉकेट जीएसएलवी-डी3 का प्रक्षेपण नाकाम हुआ।

2013 इराक में हुए बम विस्फोट से तकरीबन 35 लोगों की जान गयी और 160 घायल हुए। इसी दिन निकोलस मदुरो वेनेजुएला के राष्ट्रपति बने।

2019 फ्रांस की राजधानी पेरिस के ऐतिहासिक गिरजाघर नोट्रे-डैम कैथेड्रल में आग लग गई। यूनेस्को ने 1991 में इसे वैश्विक धरोहर घोषित किया था।

2020 सरकारी तौर पर देश में कोविड-19 से संक्रमित लोगों की संख्या 11,933 और मरने वालों की संख्या 392 बताई गई।
