1795 पोलैंड का विभाजन हुआ जिससे नया देश लिथुआनिया अस्तित्व में आया।

1802 विख्यात जर्मन खगोलशास्त्री हेनरिक विल्हेम मैथियास ओल्बर्स ने दूसरे क्षुद्रग्रह 2प्लस की खोज की।

1809 मेडलिन युद्ध में फ्रांस ने स्पेन को हराया।

1874 विख्यात भारतीय ब्रिटिश पारसी वामपंथी नेता कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी आॅफ ग्रेट ब्रिटेन के कार्यकर्ता शापूरजी दोराबजी सक्लात्वला का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1868 मैक्सिम गोर्की के नाम से जगत प्रसिद्ध रूसी लेखक, कथाकार और राजनीतिज्ञ अलेक्सी मैक्सीमोविच पेश्कोव का जन्म नीज्नी नोवगोरोद, रूस में हुआ।

1891 विश्व की प्रथम भारोत्तोलन चैंपियनशिप इंग्लैंड में आयोजित की गई। इसके विजेता रहे इंग्लैंड के एडवार्ड लौरेंस लेवी।

1896 गणितज्ञ, हिंदी विश्वकोश के संपादक तथा हिंदी में वैज्ञानिक साहित्य के बहुप्रतिभावान लेखक गोरख प्रसाद का जन्म हुआ।

1904 तेलुगू भाषा के विख्यात भारतीय अभिनेता, फिल्म निर्देशक, निर्माता, लेखक और पार्श्व गायक पद्मश्री सम्मान पाने वाले चित्तोर वी नगय्या का जन्म हुआ।

1910 फ्रेंच आविष्कारक हेनरी फाबरे ने दुनिया का पहला सी-प्लेन कैनार्ड बनाया, जिसने 457 मीटर लंबी उड़ान भरी थी।

1922 अमेरिकी आविष्कारक ब्रेडली ए. फिस्के ने माइक्रोफिल्म पठन यंत्र का पेटेंट कराया।

1923 फासीवादी इटली की वायु सेना रिजिया एरोनॉटिका की स्थापना की गई।

1926 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेटर पाली उमरीगर का जन्म शोलापुर, महाराष्ट्र में जन्म हुआ।

1930 तुर्की के कई शहरों के नाम बदले गये जिसमे अंगोरा और कांस्टेंटिनोपल से बदलकर अंकारा और इस्तांबुल किया गया। अंकारा राजधानी और प्रमुख वाणिज्यिक नगर इस्तांबुल है।

1939 स्पेन में गृहयुद्ध समाप्त हुआ।

1939 जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर ने पोलैंड के साथ एक दूसरे पर आक्रमण नहीं करने संबंधी पांच साल पुराने समझौते को तोड़ा।

1941 नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस नजरबंदी से बचकर जर्मनी के बर्लिन पहुँचे। इसी दिन भारतीय पुलिस आयुक्त कावासजी जमशेदजी पेटिगारा का निधन हुआ।

1943 जाने माने भारतीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एस सत्यमूर्ति का निधन हुआ।

1954 हिंदी तमिल, तेलुगू, कन्नड़, मलयालम, मराठी सहित विभिन्न भारतीय भाषाओं की फिल्मों एवं टेलीविजन की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री मुन मुन सेन का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ। यह विख्यात अभिनेत्री सुचित्रा सेन की बेटी हैं।

1956 भारत के प्रमुख औद्योगिक, व्यापारिक पीरामल घराने की भारत की अग्रणी वैज्ञानिकों और उद्योगपतियों में से एक सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य और नवाचार के साथस्वास्थ्य सेवा में संलग्न, पीरामल ग्रुप की अध्यक्ष स्वाति पीरामल का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1959 चीन ने तिब्बत की सरकार भंग की और पांचेन लामा को पदासीन किया।

1962 सीरिया में सैन्य विद्रोह के बाद राष्ट्रपति नाजिम अल-कुद्सी देश छोड़कर भागे।

1963 रूस और अमेरिका के बीच शीत युद्ध हुआ।

1964 इंग्लैंड के पास पहला समुद्री डाकू रेडियो स्टेशन बना।

1965 महान मानवतावादी, मानवाधिकारवादी डॉ. मार्टिन लूथर किंग जूनियर ने काले अमेरिकियों के अधिकारों के लिए एलाबामा की राजधानी मॉन्टगुमरी में 25 हजार लोगों के साथ मार्च निकाला।

1968 जाने माने भारतीय, ब्रिटिश क्रिकेटर एवं कमेंटेटर नासिर हुसैन का जन्म मद्रास में हुआ।

1969 संयुक्त राज्य. अमेरिका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति आइजनहावर का निधन हुआ।

1972 सोवियत संघ ने परमाणु परीक्षण किया। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय पत्रकार और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता एबिय जे जोस का जन्म हुआ।

1975 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल संध्या मृदुल का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन हिंदी सिनेमा के मशहूर अभिनेता और माॅडल विनोद खन्ना, जो आचार्य रजनीश ओशो के सन्यासी स्वामी विनोद भारती के नाम से जाने के जाते हैं, के पुत्र आज के जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता एवं माॅडल अक्षय खन्ना का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1977 मोरारजी देसाई ने भारत में पहली गैर कांग्रेसी सरकार का गठन किया।

1978 मिस इंडिया यूनीवर्स, जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड एमटीवी वीडियो जाॅकी, अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल नफीसा जोसफ का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1982 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भारतीय अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सोनिया अग्रवाल का जन्म चंडीगढ़ में हुआ।

1985 जाने माने फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन और रियलिटी शो अभिनेता, मंच कलाकार और माॅडल कुशाल टंडन का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ।

1986 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकन पॉप गायिका, अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल गीत लेखिका लेडी गागा का जन्म हुआ।

1989 सोवियत संघ में प्रथम आम चुनाव हुआ जिसमें लोगों को गैर कम्युनिष्ट पार्टी प्रतिनिधि को चुनने का विकल्प दिया गया।

1994 सारा देवा के नाम से सुप्रसिद्ध, बोल्ड, खूबसूरत तमिल एवं मलयालम सिनेमा की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल साईप्रिया देवा का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1996 ओकलाहोमा अमेरिका की 17 साल की केटी बीम 35वीं मिस टीनएज बनीं। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय एवं अमेरिकन अभिनेत्री, माॅडल अनु इमेनुअल का जन्म शिकागो, अमेरिका में हुआ।

1998 अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी के नेतृत्व वाली भाजपा सरकार ने संसद में 261 के मुकाबले 274 वोट से विश्वास मत हासिल किया।

1999 वीनस विलियम्स ने अपनी बहन सेरेना विलियम्स को हराकर लिप्टन कप जीता। 115 साल में यह पहला मौका आया। इसी दिन सर्बियाई पुलिस और विशेष बलों ने सेंट्रल कोसोवो के ड्रेनिका क्षेत्र में इजबिका के गाँव में कम से कम 89 कोसोवो अलबानियों को मार डाला।

2000 वेस्टइंडीज के कोर्टनी वाल्स ने 435 विकेट लेकर कपिल देव का रिकार्ड तोड़ा।

2005 इंडोनेशिया के सुमात्रा द्वीप पर आए भूकंप में 1300 से ज्यादा लोगों की मौत हो गई थी। तीव्रता के हिसाब से ये 1965 के बाद दुनिया का चौथा सबसे बड़ा भूकंप और कुल मिलाकर दुनिया का ग्यारहवां सबसे बड़ा भूकंप था। रिक्टर पैमाने पर इसकी तीव्रता 8.6 मापी गई। इस भूकंप से कुछ महीनों पहले 26 दिसंबर 2004 को इंडोनेशिया के सुमात्रा द्वीप पर ही आए 9.1 तीव्रता वाले भूकंप ने कहर मचाया था। इसकी वजह से समुद्र में उठी सुनामी की लहरों ने इंडोनेशिया, भारत, श्रीलंका समेत कई अन्य देशों में 2.50 लाख से ज्यादा लोगों की जान ले ली थी। अकेले इंडोनेशिया में ही 1 एक लाख 65 हजार से ज्यादा लोगों की जान गई थी।

2006 अमेरिका ने पाकिस्तान के पेशावर में स्थित अपना वाणिज्य दूतावास बंद किया।

2007 अमेरिका में सीनेट ने इराक से अमेरिकी सेना की वापसी को मंजूरी प्रदान की।

2008 भारत सरकार ने चालीस उत्पादों के निर्यात से रियायतें समाप्त करने की घोषणा की। इसी दिन ऑस्कर विजेता व पटकथा लेखक ऐबीमैन का निधन हुआ।

2009 उत्तर प्रदेश के पीलीभीत लोकसभा सीट से भाजपा उम्मीदवार वरुण गांधी को उस समय गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था, जब उन पर मुस्लिमों के खिलाफ नफरत फैलाने वाला भाषण देने का आरोप लगा था। उस लोकसभा चुनाव में वरुण ने कांग्रेस के वीएम सिंह को 2.81 लाख वोट से हराया था। गिरफ्तारी के 19 दिन बाद उन्हें जमानत मिल गई और वे रिहा हो गए थे। 5 मार्च 2013 को पीलीभीत की कोर्ट ने उन्हें इस मामले में बरी कर दिया।

2010 एक ब्रिटिश समाचार प्रसारण सेवा को पिछले दिसंबर में लॉर्ड रेसिस्टेंस आर्मी द्वारा किए गए कांगो लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य में एक नरसंहार के साक्ष्य मिले जिसमें बच्चों सहित 321 लोग मारे गए थे।

2011 भारत में बाघों की संख्या बढ़ी। वर्ष 2006 में इनकी संख्या 1411 थी जो 21 फीसदी बढ़कर 1706 हो गई है।  इसी दिन जापान के फुकुशिमा परमाणु संयंत्र में विकिरण के रिसाव के कारण, अंतरराष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी ने परमाणु सुरक्षा के बारे में चर्चा करने के लिए शिखर सम्मेलन बुलाया। 

2012 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के इतिहास में मेगा मिलियन जैकपॉट लाॅटरी 500 मिलियन डॉलर की रकम हुई। लॉटरी इतिहास में यह एक भारी भरकम रकम का विश्व रिकॉर्ड है।

2013 इंटरनेट पर इतिहास का सबसे बड़ा हमला हुआ। दुनियाभर में इंटरनेट की रफ्तार धीमी हुई।

2015 भारत की सायना नेहवाल दुनिया की नंबर एक महिला बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी बनीं।

2017 बिहार में पूर्ण शराबबंदी को लागू करने के लिए मुख्यमंत्री नितीश कुमार को जैन श्वेतांबर तेरापंथी महासभा द्वारा अणुव्रत पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया।

1996 Oklahoma America's 17-year-old Katie Beam became the 35th Miss Teenage. On this day famous Indian and American actress, model Anu Emmanuel was born in Chicago, USA.

1998 BJP government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee wins a vote of confidence in Parliament by 274 votes to 261.

1999 Venus Williams defeats her sister Serena Williams to win the Lipton Cup. This was the first time in 115 years. On the same day, Serbian police and special forces killed at least 89 Kosovo Albanians in the village of Izbica in the Drenica region of central Kosovo.

2009 Varun Gandhi, the BJP candidate from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested after he was accused of making hate speeches against Muslims. In that Lok Sabha election, Varun defeated VM Singh of Congress by 2.81 lakh votes. He got bail 19 days after his arrest and was released. On March 5, 2013, the court of Pilibhit acquitted him in this case.

2010 A British news broadcasting service found evidence of a massacre in the Democratic Republic of Congo carried out by Lord's Resistance Army the previous December in which 321 people, including children, were killed.
