1771 दुनिया की सबसे पुरानी इंजीनियरिंग सोसाइटी सोसाइटी ऑफ सिविल इंजीनियर्स का अभियंताओं ने लंदन में गठन किया।

1874 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय न्यायविद, पत्रकार और राजनीतिज्ञ सर अब्दुल कादिर का जन्म कसूर पाकिस्तान में हुआ। वे लाहौर हाईकोर्ट के जज रहे। बंटवारे के बाद पाकिस्तान में ही रहे।

1877 क्रिकेट का पहला आधिकारिक टेस्ट मैच 15 से 19 मार्च तक ऑस्ट्रेलिया के मेलबर्न में खेला गया था। इस मैच को ऑस्ट्रेलिया 45 रनों से जीता।

1882 विश्व विख्यात विज्ञानवादी दार्शनिक, ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय में ह्वाइट प्रोफेसर थॉमस हिल ग्रीन का निधन हुआ।

1892 न्यूयॉर्क में विश्व की प्रथम ऑटोमैटिक बैलट मशीन का प्रयोग किया गया।

1901 अमेरिका के सैन फ्रांसिस्को में घोडों की दौड पर प्रतिबंध लगाया गया। इसी दिन 1901 में भारत के महान कुश्ती प्रशिक्षक (कोच) व पहलवान गुरु हनुमान का जन्म हुआ।

1907 फिनलैंड महिलाओं को मतदान का अधिकार देने वाला पहला यूरोपीय देश बना।

1919 निज़ाम हैदराबाद मीर उस्मान अली खाने ने खुद के द्वारा स्थापित कराए गये उस्मानिया विश्वविद्यालय, हैदराबाद का उद्घाटन किया।

1934 दलित अधिकारवादी, सामाजिक राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता, चिंतक, वक्ता और बहुजन समाज पार्टी के संस्थापक बहुजन नायक मान्यवर कांशीराम का जन्म पंजाब के रूपनगर में रामदासिया, दलित परिवार में हुआ। डाॅ. भीमराव अंबेडकर के बाद यह प्रमुख दलित नेता हुए जिन्होंने दलितों में राजनीतिक चेतन जबरदस्त रूप से बढ़ाई और उत्तर भारत में स्वयं द्वारा स्थापित राजनीतिक दल बहुजन समाज पार्टी प्रमुख राजनीतिक दल के रूप में खड़ा किया। बहुजन समाज पार्टी की उत्तर प्रदेश में कई बार सरकार बनी। 2006 की 9 अक्टूबर कांशी राम जी की मृत्यु हो गई थी। इससे पहले वे काफी बीमार रहे। 

1941 फिलीपींस की फिलीपीन एयरलाइंस ने अपनी पहली वाणिज्यिक उड़ान भरी। यह ऐशिया की पहली वाणिज्यिक विमानन सेवा बनी।

1943 दिल्ली के प्रमुख भाजपा नेता और मुख्यमंत्री हुए साहिब सिंह वर्मा का जन्म मुंडका, दिल्ली में हुआ।

1947 तमिलनाडु के प्रमुख राजनेता एम थंबीदुरई का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन पंजाब में सांप्रदायिक दंगे भड़के।

1953 हरियाणा के उग्र भाजपा नेता, वर्तमान में हरियाणा सरकार में मंत्री अनिल विज का जन्म अंबाला में हुआ।

1954 महाराष्ट्र में शिव सेना के प्रमुख नेता और लोकसभा सदस्य विनायक राउत का जन्म सिंधुदुर्ग में हुआ।

1956 प्रख्यात अंग्रेजी नाटककार जॉर्ज बर्नाड शॉ के नाटक पर आधारित संगीतमय नाटक माई फेयर लेडी का ब्रॉडवे में आम लोगों के लिए मंचन हुआ। पहले थिएटर सिर्फ विशिष्ट व्यक्तियों के लिए ही था।

1958 प्रसिद्ध कन्नड़ पत्रकार, कन्नड़ समाचार पत्र एवं पत्रिका प्रकाशक और कई मीडिया हाउस चलाने वाले रवि बेलागेरे का जन्म बल्लारी में हुआ।

1959 कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक के मुखिया और जाने माने भारतीय अमीर उदय कोटक का जन्म हुआ।

1963 भारत के जाने माने पत्रकार और तहलका पत्रिका के प्रमुख रहे तरुण तेजपाल का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ।

1964 सोवियत संघ ने पूर्वी कजाखस्तान में परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1976 जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता और फिल्मकार अभय देओल का जन्म हुआ।

1983 हिर्देश सिंह यानी यो यो हनी सिंह का जन्म हुआ। वे काफी विख्यात और कुख्यात पॉप सिंगर, संगीतज्ञ, गायक, अभिनेता हैं।

1984 यूरोपीय देश तंजानिया में संविधान को अंगीकार किया गया। इसी दिन मारिशस के प्रधानमंत्री अनिरुद्ध जगन्नाथ ने पोर्ट लुई स्थित महात्मा गांधी संस्थान में प्रथम अंतराष्ट्रीय संस्कृत सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया।

1985 पहले इंटरनेट डोमेन नाम सिंबॉलिक डॉट कॉम का पंजीकरण किया गया। इसी दिन 1985 में प्रख्यात भारतीय इतिहासकार और लेखक राधा कृष्ण चैधरी का निधन हुआ।

1987 जानी मानी मलयालम, तेलुगू, कन्नड़, हिंदी आदि भाषाओं की फिल्मों की अभिनेत्री और लेख्किा कोमल ओझा का जन्म रांची में हुआ।

1990 इराकी अधिकारियों ने इजरायल के लिए जासूसी करने के आरोप में ईरान के स्वतंत्र पत्रकार फरजाद बजॉफ्ट को फांसी दी।

1991 जाने माने भारतीय धावक, ओलंपियन जिनसन जाॅन्सन का जन्म चक्कीतापारा, कोझिकोड़, केरल में हुआ। 1939 के बाद से संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और अल्बानिया ने पहली बार राजनयिक संबंधों को फिर से शुरू किया। यह राजनयिक संबंध द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान खत्म हो गये थे।

1992 हिंदी और उर्दू के प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार, फिल्मी गीतकार और टीवी पटकथाकार, दूरदर्शन के लोकप्रिय धारावाहिक महाभारत की पटकथा लिखने वाले राही मासूम रजा का निधन हुआ।

1993 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान, भारतीय-ब्रिटिश फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल आलिया भट्ट का बंबई में जन्म हुआ। (आलिया के माता पिता अभिनेत्री सोनी राजदान और विख्यात फिल्मकार महेश भट्ट हैं) आलिया सर्वाधिक पारिश्रमिक लेने वाली अभिनेत्रियों में से एक हैं। आलिया फोर्ब्स मैग्जीन की सौ सेलेब्रेटी लिस्ट में शामिल हैं। अनेक बार की फिल्म फेयर पुरस्कार प्राप्त, टाइम 100 इंपैक्ट पुरस्कार सहित आलिया को अन्य अनेक पुरस्कार अपने अभिनय के लिए मिले हैं।

1997 ईरान ने पहली बार किसी महिला राजनीतिक को विदेश में नियुक्त किया।

1999 एल्डबजोर्ग लोवर नोर्वे की प्रथम महिला रक्षामंत्री बनीं।

2001 जॉर्ज फर्नांडीज ने भ्रष्टाचार के आरोप लगने पर रक्षा मंत्री पद से इस्तीफा दिया। इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव कोफी अन्नान ढाका से भारत पहुँचे, भारत-पाक वार्ता पर दिया जोर दिया।

2002 बार्सिलोना (स्पेन) में यूरोपीय संघ शिखर सम्मेलन शुरू हुआ। इसी दिन संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका का चौथा प्रक्षेपास्त्र रोधी परीक्षण सफल रहा। हू जिन्ताओं नये राष्ट्रपति बने।

2005 सऊदी अरब के राजकुमार अलवाहिद बिन तलाल अब्दुल अजीज अलसौंद ने भारतीय राष्ट्रपति से नई दिल्ली में बातचीत की।

2007 दूरसंचार सेवा प्रदाता कंपनियों वोडाफोन और एस्सार के बीच समझौता हुआ।

2008 जेल सुधार एवं मानव अधिकारों की रक्षा में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए देश की पहली महिला आईपीएस अधिकारी किरण बेदी को जर्मन सम्मान एनीमेरी मेडिसन के लिए चुना गया। लेकिन वे यह सम्मान बनाए न रख सकीं। वे तानाशाही, सामंती, सांप्रदायिक विचारों वाली राजनीतिक पार्टी भारतीय जनता पार्टी में शामिल होकर उसके एजेंडे के हिसाब से काम करने लगीं और आजकल राज्यपाल हैं।

2009 हिंदी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध गीतकार वर्मा मलिक का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन लखनऊ ने महिलाओं की कबड्डी प्रतियोगिता जीती। इसी दिन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर की महिला पहलवान अर्जुन अवार्ड विजेता गतिका जाखड़ ने लगातार सातवीं बार भारत केसरी खिताब जीतकर भारत की सबसे ताकतवर महिला पहलवान बनने का कीर्तिमान स्थापित किया। इसी दिन भारत की प्रथम महिला विमान चालिका सरला ठकराल का निधन हुआ।

2011 अरब स्प्रिंग के तहत सरकार के खिलाफ सीरिया में जन प्रतिरोध शुरू हुआ।

2012 चीन के प्रमुख वेन जियाबाओ ने दलाई लामा को तिब्बती भिक्षुओं की आत्मदाह का दोषी ठहराया।

2015 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं महादेव देसाई के पुत्र नारायण भाई देसाई का निधन हुआ।

2017 न्यूजीलैंड ने एक कानून पारित किया जिसमें कहा कि व्हांगानुई नदी एक कानूनी व्यक्ति है। इसके जरिए नदी को संपत्ति रखने और कोर्ट में मुकदमा लगाने का हक मिला। इससे प्रेरणा लेकर 21 मार्च 2017 को उत्तराखंड सरकार ने गंगा और यमुना को कानूनी तौर पर व्यक्ति होने का अधिकार दिया, पर यह ज्यादा दिन तक रहा नहीं। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जुलाई 2017 में कहा कि गंगा और यमुना को कानूनी व्यक्ति के तौर पर नहीं देखा जा सकता।

2019 स्वीडन की पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता ग्रेटा थनबर्ग की पहल पर फ्राइडे फॉर फ्यूचर के तहत दुनियाभर में 15 लाख विद्यार्थियों ने क्लाइमेट चेंज प्रोटेस्ट में भाग लिया। उन्होंने विश्व के दिग्गज नेताओं को पर्यावरणीय खतरों को बढ़ाने के लिए लताड़ लगाई।
