1683 तिब्बतियों के सर्वोच्च धर्मगुरु छठे दलाई लामा तेंज्यांग ग्यात्सो का जन्म हुआ। वर्तमान दलाई लामा 14 वें हैं और इनका नाम ग्यालवा रिंपोछे है।

1775 ब्रिटिश सरकार और नाना फडनवीस के बीच पुरंधर की संधि पर हस्ताक्षर हुए।

1790 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका की पहली अधिकृत जनगणना हुई।

1792 फ्रांसिस द्वितीय ने पवित्र रोमन साम्राज्य के अंतिम सम्राट के रूप में कार्यभार ग्रहण किया।

1803 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के 17वें राज्य के रूप में ओहियो को स्वीकार किया गया।

1847 औपचारिक रूप से मौत की सजा को मिशिगन राज्य में समाप्त कर दिया गया।

1851 विख्यात फ्रांसीसी लेखक विक्टर ह्यूगो ने फ्रांस की नेशनल असेंबली के एक भाषण में यूनाइटेड स्टेट्स ऑफ यूरोप का प्रयोग किया।

1872 अमेरिका में दुनिया का पहला राष्ट्रीय पार्क स्थापित किया गया। पश्चिमी अमेरिका में स्थित येलोस्टोन नेशनल पार्क को 1978 में यूनेस्को ने विश्व धरोहर का दर्जा दिया। यह मोंटाना से इडाहो तक है।

1896 प्रख्यात फ्रांसीसी वैज्ञानिक, इंजीनियर अंतोनियो हैनरी बेक्वेरल के एक प्रयोग के रेडियोधर्मिता का पहली बार पता चला।

1908 टाटा आयरन और स्टील कंपनी की स्थापना बिहार राज्य के जमशेदपुर में की गई। जमशेदपुर अब झारखंड राज्य में है।

1910 विख्यात तमिल फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता एवं कर्नाटक शास्त्रीय संगीतकार मायावरम कृष्णास्वामी त्यागराजा भागावतार यानी एमकेटी का जन्म हुआ।

1914 चीन गणराज्य यूनिवर्सल पोस्टल यूनियन में शामिल हुआ। इसके तहत अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पत्रों का वितरण होता है।

1917 विख्यात हिंदी, पंजाबी और उर्दू साहित्यकार कर्तार सिंह दुग्गल का जन्म रावलपिंडी पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1919 महात्मा गांधी ने रॉलट एक्ट के खिलाफ सत्याग्रह शुरू करने की मंशा जताई।

1926 भारत के शीर्ष माफिया मस्तान मिर्जा यानी हाजी मस्तान का जन्म तमिलनाडु के पनाईकुलम में हुआ। यह बंबई के सबसे बड़े माफिया गैंग सुप्रीमो हुए।

1930 जाने माने उद्योगपति, आरपीजी ग्रुप के मुखिया राम प्रसाद गोयनका का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1953 तमिलनाडु के वर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री एमके (मुथुवेल करुणानिधि) स्टालिन का जन्म हुआ।

1954 अमरीका ने प्रशांत क्षेत्र में स्थित मार्शल द्वीपों के बिकिनी द्वीपसमूह में किसी मानव की ओर से हुआ सबसे बड़ा विस्फोट किया। माना जाता है कि यह हाइड्रोजन बम हिरोशिमा को नष्ट करने वाले परमाणु बम से भी हजार गुना अधिक शक्तिशाली था।

1962 पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद अयूब खान ने नया संविधान अंगीकार करने का ऐलान किया, जिसमें देश में राष्ट्रपति के नेतृत्व वाली शासन प्रणाली की हिमायत की गई।

1963 पंजाब के सिख कांग्रेस नेता और पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री चरणजीत सिंह चन्नी का जन्म हुआ।

1965 भारत की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी, मराठी, उड़िया फिल्म और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा शास्त्रीय नृत्यांगना अर्चना जोगलेकर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1966 ब्रिटिश वित्त मंत्री जेम्स कैलाहन ने ब्रिटिश मुद्रा पाउंड में बदलाव की घोषणा की।

1968 जाने मोन क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी सलिल अंकोला का जन्म सोलापुर महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

1969 भारत की पहली सुपरफास्ट ट्रेन राजधानी एक्सप्रेस नई दिल्ली और कलकत्ता (अब कोलकाता) के बीच चलाई गई।

1971 जाने माने टेलीविजन शो एवं फिल्म निर्माता, लेखक, निर्देश सुमीत हुकमचंद मित्तल का जन्म हुआ।

1973 फिलिस्तीन के सशस्त्र समूह ब्लैक सैपटैंबर ने सूडान के खारतूम में सऊदी अरब के दूतावास पर कब्जा कर लिया और वहां मौजूद कार्मिकों को बंधक बना लिया।

1984 मलयालम और तमिल फिल्मों की जानी मानी गायिका सायानोरा फिलिप का जन्म केरल के कन्नूर में हुआ।

1988 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी कवि सोहन लाल द्विवेदी का निधन हुआ।

1989 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख कांग्रेस नेता, मुख्यमंत्री और राजस्थान के राज्यपाल रहे वसंतदादा पाटील का निधन हुआ।

1990 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी मानी टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री और माॅडल क्रिस्टल डि सूजा का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1994 कनाडा के गायक जस्टिन बीबर का जन्म हुआ। बीबर ने बहुत छोटी उम्र में ही अपने गाने से दुनियाभर में अपने करोड़ों प्रशंसक बना लिए।

1996 विद्युत उत्पादन के लिए थर्मो न्यूस्लियर रिएक्टर स्थापित करने को भारत, रूस, चीन और ईरान एशियन फाउंडेशन फॉर थर्मोन्यूक्लियर स्टडीज नामक संस्थान स्थापित करने को राजी हुए।

1998 भारत की नवीं पंचवर्षीय योजना की रूपरेखा जारी की गई।

2003 पाकिस्तान में अधिकारियों ने खालिद शेख मोहम्मद को गिरफ्तार किया, जिसे अलकायदा का शीर्ष सदस्य माना जाता था और जिस पर अमेरिका पर 2001 में 11 सितंबर को हुए आतंकी हमले की योजना बनाने का आरोप है।

2006 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जार्ज डब्ल्यू बुश भारत की राजकीय यात्रा पर नई दिल्ली पहुंचे।

2007 अमूल्य नाथ शर्मा नेपाल के पहले बिशप बने।

2008 भारत के सबसे बड़े निजी बैंक आईसीआईसीआई ने न्यूयॉर्क में अपनी शाखा खोली।

2010 हॉकी विश्व कप के पहले मैच में भारत ने पाकिस्तान को 4-1 से हराया। इसी दिन भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने अपनी सऊदी अरब यात्रा के दौरान दोनों देशों के बीच प्रत्यर्पण संधि की। इसके साथ ही विज्ञान-तकनीक और व्यापार समेत कई क्षेत्रों में 10 हस्ताक्षर किए।

2014 चीन के कुनमिंग रेलवे स्टेशन में कुछ आतंकवादियों ने चाकू से हमला कर 29 लोगों की हत्या कर दी।

2017 विख्यात गुजराती हास्य व्यंग्य लेखक तारक मेहता का निधन हुआ।

2019 पाकिस्तानी विमान का पीछा करते हुए मिग 21 से पाकिस्तान की सीमा में चले गये विंग कमांडर अभिनंदन वर्तमान का विमान नष्ट हो गया और अभिनंदन पाकिस्तान की धरती पर उतर गये जिन्हें पाकिस्तान ने बंदी बना लिया। 60 घंटे बाद पाकिस्तान ने अभिनंदन को बाघा बाॅर्डर अभिनंदन को भारतीय अधिकारियों को सौंप दिया।

In 2014, some terrorists killed 29 people in a knife attack at the Kunming railway station in China.

2017 Noted Gujarati satire writer Tarak Mehta passed away.

2019 Chasing the Pakistani aircraft, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's aircraft went from MiG 21 to Pakistan's border, was destroyed and Abhinandan landed on Pakistan's soil, which was taken prisoner by Pakistan. After 60 hours, Pakistan handed over Abhinandan to the Indian authorities at Wagah border.
