320 ऐसा माना जाता है कि चंद्रगुप्त प्रथम को पाटलिपुत्र का शासक बनाया गया। गुप्त राजवंश का यह महाराजाधिराज हुआ चंद्रगुप्त घटोत्कच का पुत्र था। इसकी मौत 335 ईस्वी में हुई।

747 टॉलेमी (Roman mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, geographer, and music theorist Claudius Ptolemy) के अनुसार, बेबीलोन के राजा नबोनासर का शासन शुरू हुआ और इसके साथ, कालानुक्रमिक रूप से सटीक ऐतिहासिक अभिलेखों के व्यवस्थित रखरखाव की शुरुआत हुई।

1233 मंगोल-जिन युद्ध में मंगोलों ने महीनों तक चीन में घेराबंदी किये रखने के बाद जिन राजवंश की राजधानी काफेंग पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1712 दिल्ली में सातवें मुगल बादशाह बहादुर शाह प्रथम का निधन हुआ।

1802 विख्यात और महान फ्रांसीसी कवि एवं लेखक, चिंतक और राजनीतिज्ञ विक्टर ह्यूगो का जन्म हुआ।

1815 फॉनटेनब्लियो की संधि पर हस्ताक्षर करने के बाद इटली के तट से दूर एक द्वीप एल्बा पर निर्वासित जीवन बिता रहा पूर्व फ्रांसीसी शासक नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट द्वीप एल्बा से भाग गया।

1832 पोलैंड के संविधान को अमान्य घोषित किया गया।

1857 ब्रिटिश ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के खिलाफ बहरामपुर में भारतीय सैनिकों ने विद्रोह कर दिया। ब्रिटिश सरकार ने दिसंबर-1856 में पुरानी बंदूकों के स्थान पर नई एनफील्ड राइफल का प्रयोग शुरू किया। इसके कारतूस पर लगे कागज को मुंह से काटना पड़ता था। बंगाल के बहरामपुर में ब्रिटिश सेना में तैनात भारतीय सैनिकों के बीच खबर फैली कि इस कारतूस में गाय और सूअर की चर्बी मिली हुई है। इससे हिंदू और मुस्लिम दोनों तरह के फौजी बिदक गये। 26 फरवरी 1857 को इसके खिलाफ बहरामपुर में ही सैनिकों ने विद्रोह कर दिया। आगे चलकर मार्च 1857 में मंगल पांडे के नेतृत्व में कुछ सिपाहियों ने ब्रिटिश अफसरों पर हमला कर दिया। यह विद्रोह दबा दिया गया। मंगल पांडे को गिरफ्तार कर अप्रैल में फांसी पर चढ़ा दिया गया। इसके बाद धीरे-धीरे इस क्रांति ने मेरठ और उत्तर भारत के अन्य हिस्सों में पैठ बनाई। ब्रिटिश सेनाओं ने औपचारिक रूप से 8 जुलाई 1859 को विद्रोह को पूरी तरह कुचल दिया और कथित तौर पर शांति स्थापित की। यह दौर ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी का था। इस विद्रोह को कुचलने के बाद भारत को ब्रिटिश सरकार ने सीधे अपने नियंत्रण में ले लिया।

1858 पियाली बरुआ और दीवान मणिराम दत्ता को असम के शाही परिवार को फिर से गद्दी पर बिठाने के प्रयासों के आरोप में फांसी दी गई।

1863 अमेरिका के सोलहवें राष्ट्रपति अब्राहम लिंकन ने अमेरिकी मुद्रा अधिनियम पर हस्ताक्षर किये।

1886 गुजराती भाषा के युग प्रवर्तक कहे गये रचनाकार नर्मद का निधन हुआ।

1887 नामचीन भारतीय प्रशासनिक अधिकारी और राजनीतिज्ञ बेनेगल नरसिंह राउ का जन्म हुआ। 1887 में इसी दिन भारत की प्रथम महिला डॉक्टर आनंदी गोपाल जोशी का निधन हुआ। 1887 में इसी दिन प्रमुख भारतीय प्रशासनिक अफसर और न्यायविद बीएन राउ का जन्म मंगलौर में हुआ।

1903 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में ब्रिटेन के सैन्य अधिकारी मेजर जनरल ओर्डे विंगेट ने अपनी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा की। इनका जन्म 26 फरवरी 903 को नैनीताल में हुआ। भारत के दसवें मुख्य न्यायाधीश बने कैलाश नाथ वांचू का जन्म हुआ।

1908 इसी दिन विख्यात बांग्ला साहित्यकार लीला मजूमदार का जन्म।

1917 पाकिस्तान सरकार में मुख्य सचिव रहे विख्यात पाकिस्तानी नौकरशाह और लेखक क़ुदरत उल्लाह साहब का जन्म गिलगिट में हुआ। इसी दिन न्यू ऑरलियन्स अमेरिका के ओरिजिनल डिक्सीलैंड जस बैंड ने लाइवेस्टेबल ब्ल्यूज रिकॉर्ड किया, जो पहला जैज सिंगल हुआ।

1922 प्रख्यात अमेरिकी अर्थशास्त्री विलियम बौमॉल का जन्म हुआ। 1922 में इसी तारीख को ब्रिटिश फिल्म अभिनेत्री मार्गरेट लीटन का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन पहले फिजिक्स के प्रोफेसर रहे जाने माने भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्देशक और लेखक मनमोहन कृष्ण का जन्म लाहौर में हुआ। साहिर लुधियानवी का लिखा गीत धूल का फूल फिल्म में मनमोहन कृष्ण पर फिल्माया गया है, तू हिंदू बनेगा न मुसलमान बनेगा।

1928 इसरायल के प्रधानमंत्री हुए एरियल शेरॉन का जन्म हुआ।

1932 विख्यात अमेरिकी गायक जॉनी कैश का जन्म हुआ।

1936 इम्पीरियल जापानी सेना के 1400 से अधिक सैनिकों ने जापान में तख्तापलट कर टोक्यो पर कब्जा कर लिया और वित्त मंत्री ताकाहाशी कोरिय्यो और कई अन्य प्रमुख राजनेताओं की हत्या कर दी।

1937 जाने माने भारतीय फिल्मकार मनमोहन देसाई का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1944 खालिस्तानी आतंकी संगठन बब्बर खालसा के संस्थापक सदस्य और प्रमुख खालिस्तानी आतंकी नेता तलविंदर सिंह परमार का जन्म कपूरथला के पास एक गांव में हुआ।

1946 जानी मानी लेखिका, कथाकार, पत्रकार एवं दूरदर्शन तथा आकाशवाणी यानी प्रसार भारती की मुखिया और वामा, साप्ताहिक हिंदुस्तान, दैनिक हिंदुस्तान प्रमुख संपादक रहीं मृणाल पाण्डे का जन्म।

1957 भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास का जन्म तमिलनाडु में हुआ।

1958 पाकिस्तान के प्रदेश सिंध एक जगह प्राचीन सभ्यता के अवशेष पाए, जिनके परीक्षण के बाद बताया गया कि यह मेहनजोदड़ो की सभ्यता से करीब तीन सौ वर्ष पुराने हो सकते हैं।

1959 महाराष्ट्र में प्रमुख भाजपा नेता, केंद्र में शिक्षा मंत्री रहे संजय शामराव धोत्रे का जन्म अकोला में हुआ।

1960 आंध्र प्रदेश, तेलंगाना के जाने माने कांग्रेस राजनेता, लोकसभा सदस्य, इंजीनियर और कारोबारी कोंडा विश्वेश्वर रेड्डी का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1962 तेलुगू फिल्मों के लोकप्रिय अभिनेता एवं माॅडल शिवाजी राजा का जन्म भीमावरम में हुआ।

1965 भारत में जन्मे उद्यमी स्पूनी सिंह सुंदर ने अपने हॉलीवुड वैक्स म्यूजियम की शुरुआत की। विनायक दामोदर सावरकर का निधन हुआ। यह सामंती हिंदूवादी विचारक, लेखक, नेतृत्वकर्ता थे।

1972 महाराष्ट्र में वर्धा के निकट आरवी में स्थित विक्रम अर्थ सेटेलाइट स्टेशन को भारत के चतुर्थ राष्ट्रपति वीवी गिरि ने देश को समर्पित किया।

1975 गुजरात के अहमदाबाद में देश का पहला पतंग संग्रहालय शंकर केन्द्र स्थापित किया गया।

1983 जाने माने टेलीविजन अभिनेता एवं माॅडल प्रवेश राणा का जन्म बड़ौत, मेरठ में हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भारतीय टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल जिसे आपने कुमकुम भाग्य इत्यादि धारावाहिकों में देखा होगा, स्रीति झा का जन्म बिहार के बेगुसराय में हुआ। इसी दिन आॅस्ट्रेलिया की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड लोकप्रिय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल टेरेसा मैरी पाल्मर का जन्म एडिलेड में हुआ। इसी दिन जाने माने टेलीविजन अभिनेता और माॅडल सेहबान अज़ीम का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1988 प्रख्यात अंग्रेजी उपन्यासकार सुदीप नागरकर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1989 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड संगीतज्ञ, मंच परफोर्मर, अभिनेत्री एवं गायिका पायल देव का जन्म रामगढ़ कैंटोनमेंट में हुआ। इसी दिन तेलुगू फिल्मों और टेलीविजन की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री, कुचिपुड़ी नृत्यांगना, माॅडल और टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता हरि तेजा का जन्म तिरुपति में हुआ।

1991 इराकी राष्ट्रपति सद्दाम हुसैन ने कुवैत से अपने सैनिकों को इराकी रेडियो पर वापसी की घोषणा की। इसी दिन ब्रिटिश कंप्यूटर प्रोग्रामर टिम बर्नर्स-ली ने वर्ल्डवाइडवेब, दुनिया का पहला वेब ब्राउजर ॅल्ैप्ॅल्ळ भ्ज्डस् एडिटर पेश किया।

1993 आतंकियों ने न्यूयॉर्क के वर्ल्ड ट्रेड सेंटर के अंडरग्राउंड गैरेज में बम ब्लास्ट किए थे। इस हमले में 6 लोग मारे गए थे। एक हजार से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए थे। इससे बिल्डिंग की नींव कमजोर हो गई थी, जिसकी बाद में मरम्मत की गई थी।

1994 जाने माने भारतीय पहलवान बजरंग पूनिया का जन्म हरियाणा के झज्झर जिले में हुआ।

1995 लंदन में सबसे पुराना मर्चेंट बैंक, बारिंग्स बैंक को सिंगापुर में अपने प्रमुख डेरिवेटिव व्यापारी निक लेसन से टकराव के बाद वायदा कारोबार पर अनधिकृत सट्टा व्यापार के कारण 827 मिलियन पाउंड का नुकसान हुआ। इसे शेयर बाजार धड़ाम हो गया। कॉपीराइट मुद्दे पर इसी दिन चीन तथा अमेरिका के मध्य समझौता हुआ।

1999 पांच ग्रैमी अवार्ड जीतकर अमेरिकी अश्वेत अभिनेत्री, रैप गायिका और गीत लेख्किा लॉरिन हिल ने नया रिकार्ड बनाया।

2001 आतंकवादी संगठन तालिबान ने अफगानिस्तान के बामियान में बुद्ध की दो विशाल मूर्तियों को नष्ट कर दिया।

2004 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री रहे शंकरराव चव्हाण का निधन हुआ। 2004 में इसी तारीख को मकदुनिया के राष्ट्रपति बेरिस ट्रेज कोवस्की की विमान दुर्घटना में मृत्यु हुई।

2006 परमाणु परिशोधन पर रूस और ईरान में समझौता।

2007 नई नेपाल सरकार ने राजशाही की संपत्ति का राष्ट्रीयकरण करने की घोषणा की।

2011 अल्जीरिया के राष्ट्रपति ने अरब देशों की बदलती राजनीतिक स्थिति के कारण देश में 19 साल पहले लगाए गए आपातकाल को आधिकारिक रूप से समाप्त किया।

2014 आईएनएस सिंधुरत्न पनडुब्बी में आग लगने से दो अधिकारियों की मौत। इस पर भारत के नेवी चीफ एडमिरल डीके जोशी ने अपना इस्तीफा दे दिया।

2019 भारतीय वायु सेना के मिराज-2000 विमानों ने रात के अंधेरे में यानी तड़के 3 बजे करीब नियंत्रण रेखा पार कर पाकिस्तान के पूर्वोत्तर इलाके खैबर पख्तूनख्वाह के बालाकोट में जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के कथित ट्रेनिंग कैम्पों पर सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक की। इसके बाद भारत के तत्कालीन विदेश सचिव विजय गोखले ने कहा कि इस स्ट्राइक में बड़ी संख्या में जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के आतंकी, उनको प्रशिक्षण देने वाले, संगठन के बड़े कमांडर और फिदायीन हमलों के लिए तैयार हो रहे जिहादियों को खत्म कर दिया गया। हालांकि घटना स्थल पर पहुंचे अंतरराष्ट्रीय समाचार माध्यमों ने पाया कि भारतीय दावों से वास्तविक सच्चाई अलग थी। वहां किसी व्यक्ति की मौत नहीं हुई, न ही भवन गिरे। कुछ पेड़ अलबत्ता उखड़ गये, और कुछ कच्चे घरों को मामूली नुक्सान हुआ। मौके पर कवरेज पर जाने से पहले विदेशी मीडिया ने सुबह के वक्त पाकिस्तानी विदेश मंत्री शाह महमूद कुरैशी से भारत के दावों के बारे में पूछा तो उन्होंने साफ कहा कि आपके लिए हैलीकाॅप्टर तैयार हैं, आप खुद मौके पर जाइये और भारत के झूठ का पर्दाफाश करिये।

1815 Former French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who was living in exile on Elba, an island off the coast of Italy, fled to the island after the signing of the Treaty of Fontainebleau.

1832 Poland's constitution was declared invalid.

1857 Indian soldiers mutinied at Baharampur against the British East India Company. The British government started using the new Enfield rifle in place of the old guns in December-1856. The paper on its cartridge had to be cut through the mouth. The news spread among the Indian soldiers stationed in the British Army at Baharampur in Bengal that the fat of cow and pig was mixed in this cartridge. Due to this, both Hindu and Muslim soldiers were divided. On 26 February 1857, the soldiers mutinied against this in Baharampur itself. Later, in March 1857, some soldiers under the leadership of Mangal Pandey attacked the British officers. This rebellion was suppressed. Mangal Pandey was arrested and hanged in April. After this, gradually this revolution made inroads in Meerut and other parts of North India. British forces formally crushed the rebellion on 8 July 1859 and peace was reportedly established. This was the era of the East India Company. After crushing this rebellion, India was taken under the direct control of the British government.
