1610 इतालवी खगोलशास्त्री गैलीलियो गैलिली ने अपने टेलीस्कोप गेनीमेड, कैलिस्टो, आयोंड यूरोपा के माध्यम से चार गैलीलियन चंद्रमाओं का पहला अवलोकन प्रस्तुत किया। 

1714 इंग्लैंड के हेनरी मिल ने टाइप मशीन टाइपराइटर बनाकर प्रस्तुत किया।

1761 पानीपत की तीसरी लड़ाई में अफगान शासक अहमद शाह अब्दाली ने मराठों को हराया।

1785 फ्रांस के जीन पियरे ब्लांचर्ड और अमेरिकी जॉन जेफ्रीस एक गुब्बारे में हवा से अंग्रेजी चैनल को पार करने वाले पहले व्यक्ति बने।

1789 अमेरिकी जनता ने जाॅर्ज वाशिंगटन को देश का पहला राष्ट्रपति चुनने के लिए मतदान किया।

1851 विश्व प्रसिद्ध इतिहासकार, अंग्रेजी साहित्यकार तथा अन्वेषक जार्ज अब्राहम ग्रियर्सन का जन्म हुआ।

1859 ब्रिटिश शासन के खिलाफ सिपाही विद्रोह को सहयोग करने के आरोप में भारत के आखिरी मुगल बादशाह बहादुरशाह जफर के विरुद्ध मुकदमे की सुनवाई शुरू हुई।

1981 भारत के मशहूर शतरंज खिलाड़ी कृष्णन शशिकिरण का जन्म हुआ।

1890 विलियम बी परविस को फाउंटेन पेन का आविष्कार का पेटेंट दिया गया।

1893 गांधीवादी जीवन शैली की समर्थक जानकी देवी बजाज का जन्म हुआ।

1922 प्रसिद्ध फ्रांसीसी बाँसुरी वादक पियरे रामपाल का जन्म हुआ।

1925 विख्यात ब्रिटिश प्रकृति विज्ञानी, जूरोलौजिस्ट, वन्य संपदा संरक्षण विशेषज्ञ, लेखक और टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता गेराल्ड मेल्कम ड्यूरेल का जन्म जमशेदपुर में हुआ।

1927 पहली ट्रांस-एटलांटिक व्यावसायिक टेलीफोन सेवा न्यूयॉर्क से लंदन के बीच शुरू हुई।

1929 इसाई मिशनरी मदर टेरेसा ने कलकत्ता पहुंचकर गरीब और बीमार लोगों के लिए चिकित्सा कार्य शुरु किया।

1934 प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं रेडियो कलाकार जमीला मैसी का जन्म शिमला में हुआ।

1938 दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की बीसवीं सदी की प्रमुख अभिनेत्री, जिन्होंने कुछ हिंदी फिल्मों में काम किया बी. सरोजा देवी का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1943 वाई-फाई तकनीक के जनक मशहूर अमेरिकी सर्बियाई आविष्कारक निकोला टेस्ला की मृत्यु।

1948 विश्व भर में अपनी पहचान रखने वाली भारतीय पत्रकार एवं लेखिका, उपन्यासकार जैकी कोलिंस आॅफ इंडिया कही गई शोभा डे का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1949 कल्याणी समूह और भारत फोर्ज के मुखिया प्रमुख भारतीय कारोबारी बाबा कल्याणी यानी बाबासाहेब नीलकंठ कल्याणी का जन्म पुणे में हुआ।

1950 बालश्रम विरोधी प्रसिद्ध भारतीय महिला सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता शांता सिन्हा का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन 1950 में इसी दिन बंबई बाॅलीवुड फिल्मों के मशहूर हास्य अभिनेता जॉनी लीवर का जन्म हुआ।

1953 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति हैरी ट्रूमैन ने हाइड्रोजन बम बनाने की घोषणा की।

1957 जानी मानी, लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बहुप्रतिभावान बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल रीना राॅय का मुंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1959 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने क्यूबा में फिदेल कास्त्रो के नेतृत्व में बनी वामपंथी सरकार को मान्यता प्रदान की।

1961 मशहूर भारतीय हिंदी, मराठी एवं गुजरात फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सुप्रिया पाठक का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1963 प्रमुख अमेरिकी फाइनेंसियल सर्विसेज फर्म कैंटर फिटजेराल्ड के अध्यक्ष, बैंकिंग और वित्तीय मामलों के जानकार और प्रबंधक अंशु या अंशुमान जैन का जन्म जयपुर में हुआ।

1967 लोकप्रिय फिल्म बाॅलीवुड अभिनेता इरफान खान का जन्म टोंक, राजस्थान में हुआ। इन्होंने कम समय में अपने अभिनय से अच्छी पहचान बनाई। इन्होंने कुछ ब्रिटिश और अमेरिकी फिल्मों में भी काम किया। 29 अप्रैल 2020 को मुंबई के मुकेश अंबानी की मां कोकिला बेन के नाम वाले अस्पताल में कैंसर से उनकी मृत्यु हो गई।

1972 स्पेन के इबीसा क्षेत्र में विमान दुर्घटना में चालक दल के छह सदस्यों समेत 108 यात्रियों की मौत हुई।

1979 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल बिपाशा बसु का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इन्होंने करन सिंह ग्रोवर से विवाह किया।

1981 भारत के मशहूर शतरंज खिलाड़ी कृष्णन शशिकिरण का जन्म हुआ।

1983 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल पार्वती मेल्टन का जन्म कैलिफोर्निया अमेरिका में हुआ।

1984 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और बिग बाॅस होस्ट कोयना मित्रा कलकत्ता में जन्म हुआ। 1984 में इसी दिन जानी मानी भारतीय माॅडल और अभिनेत्री श्रद्धा मूसले का जन्म हुआ।

1985 सेलनेट ने 2 यूके सेल्यूलर नेटवर्क का शुभारंभ किया।

1986 अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति रोनाल्ड रीगन ने लीबिया के खिलाफ आर्थिक प्रतिबंध लगाने की घोषणा की।

1987 विख्यात क्रिकेटर कपिल देव ने टेस्ट क्रिकेट में तीन सौ विकेट पूरे किये।

1989 जापान के सम्राट हिरोहितो का देहावसान हुआ और उनका पुत्र अकिहितो नया सम्राट घोषित हुआ।

1990 पिछले 800 सालों में पहली बार पीसा की झुकती हुई मीनार को दर्शकों के लिए बंद कर दिया गया।

1991 जाने माने भारतीय फुटबाॅल खिलाड़ी जेजे लालपेखलुआ का जन्म हुआ।

1996 जानी मानी माॅडल और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री हेली शाह का जन्म अहमदाबाद, गुजरात में हुआ।

1999 व्हाइट हाउस की इंटर्न मोनिका लेवेंस्की से यौन संबंध और झूठ बोलने के लिए अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन के विरुद्ध महाभियोग की कार्रवाही शुरू हुई।

2000 जकार्ता (इंडोनेशिया) में 10 हजार मुसलमानों ने मोलुकस द्वीप समूह में ईसाईयों के विरुद्ध जेहाद की घोषणा की।

2003 जापान ने विकास कार्यों में मदद के लिए भारत को 90 करोड़ डालर की मदद की घोषणा की।

2008 राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटिल ने विनोद राय को नियंत्रक एवं महालेखा परीक्षक के पद की शपथ दिलाई। इन्हीं विनोद राय पर यूपीए सरकार को भ्रष्टाचार के मामले में साजिश के तहत बदनाम करने के आरोप लगते हैं, क्योंकि इनके द्वारा बताए गये टूजी स्पेक्ट्रम और कोयला घोटाले के आरोप साबित नहीं हो पाए लेकिन यूपीए सरकार पर भ्रष्टाचार के आरोप भाजपा और उसके सहयोगी मीडिया ने खूब लगाए। भारत व मलेशिया वायुसेना के पायलटों और युद्धपोतों के कर्मियों के प्रशिक्षण समेत रक्षा क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने पर सहमत हुए। जार्जिया में नेल मिखै साकाश विली को पुनः देश का राष्ट्रपति चुना गया।

2009 आर्थिक अपराधों के चलते बदनाम हुई आईटी कंपनी सत्यम कंप्यूटर के चेयरमैन रामालिंगम राजू ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2010 जम्मू-कश्मीर में श्रीनगर के ऐतिहासिक लाल चौक पर एक होटल में कथित रूप से छिपे आतंकवादियों और सुरक्षा बलों के बीच लगभग 22 घंटे की मुठभेड़ दो आतंकवादियों के मारे जाने के साथ खत्म हो गयी।

2011 ट्यूनीशिया में, युवाओं ने महंगाई, बेरोजगारी और जनविरोधी सरकारी नीतियों से त्रस्त होकर बड़ा प्रदर्शन आयोजित किया। 

2012 न्यूजीलैंड में ग्यारह लोग मारे गए जब उनका गर्म हवा का गुब्बारा एक बिजली की लाइन से टकरा गया और कार्टरटन के पास दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया।

2014 शेख हसीना वाजेद ने बांग्लादेश में आम चुनाव जीता।

2015 पेरिस में दो बंदूकधारियों ने इस्लामिक पैगंबर हजरत मोहम्मद का विवादित कार्टून छापने वाली पत्रिका चार्ली हेब्दो के कार्यालय पर हमला किया जिसमें 12 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 11 अन्य लोग घायल हो गए।

2020 नेशनल पेमेंट्स कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया एनपीसीआई ने भुगतान तेज और सुरक्षित करने के लिए वज्र प्लेटफॉर्म लॉन्च किया। यह प्लेटफार्म ब्लॉकचेन तकनीक पर आधारित है। इसी दिन ईरान की संसद ने एक विधेयक पारित कर सभी अमेरिकी बलों को आतंकवादी घोषित कर दिया।
