1142 उत्तरी जिन राजवंश और दक्षिणी सॉन्ग राजवंश के, युद्ध में चीनी जनरल यू फी की सोंग सरकार ने हत्या करवा दी।

1556 भारत के द्वितीय मुगल सम्राट हुमायूँ (प्रथम मुगल बादशाह जहीरुद्दीन मोहम्मद बाबर के बेटे) की मृत्यु की घोष्णा की गई। वह विगत दिवस 26 जनवरी को सीढ़ियों से गिरकर गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गये थे।

1343 पोप क्लेमेंट छठे ने पोप की ताकत और भोगों के उपयोग को सही ठहराने के लिए पोप बैल जारी किया।

1756 ब्रिटेन और प्रशिया ने वेस्टमिंस्टर की संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए गये।

1782 19वीं सदी के प्रमुख बंगाली इस्लामी सैन्य शासक सैयद मीर निसार अली यानी तितुमीर का जन्म चांदपुर में हुआ।

1785 अमेरिका के सबसे पुराने विश्व विद्यालय जॉर्जिया के एथेंस विश्वविद्यालय, की स्थापना की गई। इसे अब यूनिवर्सिटी आॅफ जॉर्जिया कहा जाता है।

1841 अंटार्कटिका में सक्रिय ज्वालामुखी पर्वत ईरेबस की खोज जेम्स क्लार्क रॉस ने की।

1861 विख्यात सूफी संत ताजुद्दीन मोहम्मद बदरुद्दीन का जन्म हुआ।

1868 बोशिन वॉर-द बैटल ऑफ टोबा-फुशिमी, जहां प्रो-इंपीरियल फोर्सेज ने तोकुगावा के उन शोगुनेट को हराया और जो मीजी रिस्टोरेशन के लिए उत्प्रेरक थे, फूशिमी-कू, क्योटो में शुरू हुए।

1823 दक्षिण अमेरिका के लिये अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति जेम्स मोनरो ने पहला राजदूत नियुक्त किया।

1880 विख्यात वैज्ञानिक और आविष्कारक थॉमस अल्वा एडीसन ने बिजली से चलने वाले बल्ब का पेटेंट कराया।

1888 वाशिंगटन में नेशनल ज्योग्राफिक सोसाइटी का आयोजन किया गया। नेशनल ज्योग्राफिक पत्रिका के प्रकाशक नेशनल ज्योग्राफिक सोसाइटी के संगठनकर्ता, जियोग्राफिकल नॉलेज की वृद्धि और प्रसार के लिए एक सोसाइटी का आयोजन करने के लिए वाशिंगटन, डीसी में तीस से अधिक खोजकर्ताओं और वैज्ञानिकों के एक समूह की बैठक आयोजित की।

1891 पेंसिल्वेनिया के माउंट प्लीसेंट में हुए खदान विस्फोट में लगभग 150 लोग मारे गये।

1897 ब्रिटिश सैनिकों ने घाना के बीडा गोल्ड कॉस्ट पर कब्जा किया।

1900 विख्यात जर्मन शोधकर्ता फेलिक्स हाफमैन ने पहली बार दर्द की दवा बनायी। इस दवा को दुनिया एस्प्रीन के नाम से जानती है।

1905 मौरिस राउविएर ने फ्रांस में सरकार बनायी।

1909 जानी मानी सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, चिकित्सक डाॅ. भीमराव अंबेडकर की दूसरी पत्नी सविता अंबेडकर का जन्म दादर, बंबई में हुआ।

1915 अमेरिकी मरीन ने हैती पर कब्जा किया।

1922 भारतीय हिंदी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता अजीत खान का जन्म गोलकोंडा, कर्नाटक में हुआ।

1926 खालिस्तानी आतंकियों के द्वारा 10 अगस्त 1986 को पुणे में मार दिए गये भारतीय थल सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल अरुण श्रीधर वैद्य का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन स्कॉलैंड के वैज्ञानिक और आविष्कारक जॉन लोगी बेयर्ड ने टेलीविजन को दुनिया के सामने प्रदर्शित किया। इसे उस समय टेलीवाइजर का नाम दिया गया था।

1929 विख्यात ब्रिटिश फिल्म अभिनेता एवं पटकथा लेखक माइकल क्रेग यानी माइकल फ्रांसिस ग्रेग्सन का जन्म पुणे में हुआ।

1941 पंद्रहवें वित्त आयोग के अध्यक्ष रहे अर्थशास्त्री, पहले जनता दल और अब भाजपा नेता नंद किशोर सिंह यानी एनके सिंह का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1943 अमेरिका ने जर्मनी पर पहली बार हवाई हमला किया।

1945 सोवियत लाल सेना ने 7,500 से अधिक कैदियों को आजाद किया, जो पोलैंड के ऑशविट्ज एकाग्रता शिविर में हिटलर के नाजी कर्मियों द्वारा बनकर रखे गये थे, जिनका संहार किया जाना था।

1956 जाने माने कारोबारी और राजनेता रहे अमर सिंह का जन्म आजमगढ़, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1959 नयी दिल्ली में पहले इंजीनियरिंग एंड टेक्नोलॉजी कॉलेज शिलान्यास हुआ।

1962 करीब 300 फिल्मों के निर्माण में सहयोग देने वाले प्रमुख फिल्म प्रोडक्शन डिजाइनर साबू सिरिल का जन्म हुआ। 

1963 हिंदी, मराठी, कोंकणी फिल्मों की जानी मानी शास्त्रीय गायिका आरती अंकलीकर टिकेकर का जन्म हुआ।

1967 अपोलो 1 की हुयी दुर्घटना में तीन अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों की मौत हो गई। इसी दिन जाने माने हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता बाॅबी देओल का जन्म हुआ।

1969 इराक की राजधानी बगदाद में 14 लोगों को जासूसी के अपराध में फाँसी की सजा सुनायी गयी। इसी दिन प्रख्यात फिल्म निर्देशक विक्रम भट्ट का जन्म हुआ। 1969 में इसी दिन अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री थेल्मा रिटर को दिल का दौरा पड़ा जिसके कारण पांच फरवरी को उनका निधन हो गया।

1974 राष्ट्रपति वी. वी. गिरि ने नयी दिल्ली के तीन मूर्ति स्थित नेहरु मेमारियल म्यूजियम को राष्ट्र को समर्पित किया।

1976 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्देशक और निर्माता श्रेयस तलपड़े का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1978 बांग्लादेश के प्रमुख संगीतकार, गीतकार, चित्रकार, फिल्म निर्माता, निर्देशक, एनीमेटर शायान चौधरी अर्नोब का जन्म ढाका में हुआ। इसी दिन मेघालय के प्रमुख राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री कोनार्ड संगमा का जन्म हुआ।

1982 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता एवं माॅडल समीर दत्तानी का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1986 20वीं सदी के भारत के प्रमुख सितार वादकों में से एक निखिल बैनर्जी का निधन हुआ।

1988 पहली बार हेलीकॉप्टर डाक सेवा का उद्घाटन किया गया।

1992 जाने माने भारतीय बास्केटबाल खिलाड़ी अमजोत सिंह का जन्म चंडीगढ़ में हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता भारत भूषण का निधन हुआ।

1993 जानी मानी बंगाली फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, गायिका एवं त्रणमूल कांग्रेस नेत्री सायोनी घोष का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1995 69वें ऑस्ट्रेलियाई महिला टेनिस में मैरी पियर्स ने ए एस विकारियो (63 62) को हराया

1996 जर्मनी ने होलोकास्ट को पहली बार स्मरण दिवस के रूप में मनाया। होलोकास्ट में एडोल्फ हिटलर के शासन में यहूदियों को कैद करके रखा जाता, उन्हें भयंकर अमानवीय यातनाएं दी जातीं तथा उनका संहार किया जाता। करीब 60 लाख यहूदियों को मारा गया। 1996 में इसी दिन महामनी ओसमैन, नाइजर के पहले लोकतांत्रिक रूप से निर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति थे, उन्हें सैन्य तख्तापलट में कर्नल इब्राहिम बार मौनसारा द्वारा हटा दिया गया था।

1997 तेलुगू सिनेमा, टीवी एवं यूट्यूब की जानी मानी, खूबसूरत बोल्ड अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अदिति मयाकल का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन टोनी ब्रेक्सटन और एलनिस मोरिसटेट ने 24वां अमेरिकी संगीत पुरस्कार जीता।

1998 रूजवेल्ट (न्यूयॉर्क शहर) ट्राम में क्रेन के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होने से 10 लोग घायल।

2002 नाइजीरिया के लागोस में एक सैन्य भंडारण केंद्र में विस्फोट से कम से कम 1,100 लोग मारे गए और 20,000 से अधिक लोग विस्थापित हो गए।

2003 यू.एस. लाइब्रेरी ऑफ कांग्रेस द्वारा राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्डिंग रजिस्ट्री के लिए पहले चयन की घोषणा की गई।

2007 प्रख्यात और बेहतरीन हिंदी कथाकार, उपन्यासकार, पत्रकार तथा पटकथा लेखक, गंगा, दैनिक भास्कर, दैनिक जागरण संपादक तथा टेलीविजन प्रसारक कमलेश्वर यानी कमलेश्वर प्रसाद सक्सेना का निधन हुआ।

2008 महिलाओं के ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपन में मारिया शारापोवा ने एना इवानोविच को (7-5, 6-3) से हराया। 2008 में इसी दिन पश्चिम बंगाल के 13 जिलों में बर्ड फ्लू फैला। इसी दिन 2008 में इंडोनेशिया के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति हाजी मुहम्मद सुहार्तो का निधन हुआ।

2009 भारत के आठवें राष्ट्रपति हुए रामास्वामी वेंकटरमण का देहावसान हुआ।

2010 प्रख्यात तेलुगू फिल्म अभिनेता गुम्माडी वेंकटेश्वर राव का निधन हुआ।

2011 बर्मा की संयुक्त राष्ट्र मानवाधिकार परिषद द्वारा मानवाधिकार रिकॉर्ड के लिए आलोचना की गई है। 2011 में इसी दिन अरब वसंत-यमनी क्रांति शुरू हो गई क्योंकि 16,000 से अधिक संवासिनियों ने सरकारी बदलावों की मांग के लिए सना में प्रदर्शन किया।

2012 डेमोक्रेटिक रिपब्लिक ऑफ कांगो के मुख्य विपक्षी नेता ने संसदीय चुनाव की निंदा की। उन्होंने अपने घरेलू नजरबंदी के विरोध में हड़ताल की।

2013 अफगानिस्तान के कंधार में बम हमलों में 20 पुलिस अधिकारी मारे गये। इसी दिन 2013 में मिस्र में विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान सात लोगों की मौत हुई और 630 लोग घायल हो गए। 2013 में इसी दिन सर्बियाई टेनिस खिलाड़ी नोवाक जोकोविच ने प्रतिद्वंद्वी एंडी मरे पर चार सेट की जीत हासिल की। उन्होंने 2013 के ऑस्ट्रेलियन ओपन में पुरुष एकल जीता।

2014 अमेरिकी डाक सेवा ने डाक दर बढ़ाने की पहल की। यह पिछले दिसंबर में अनुमोदित किया गया और प्रथम श्रेणी डाक की कीमत 46 सेंट से बढ़ाकर 49 सेंट कर दी गई।
