1048 महान फारसी विद्वान् लेखक, वैज्ञानिक, धर्मज्ञ तथा इस्लामिक गोल्डन एज के ईरानी विचारक अल बेरूनी यानी अबू रेहान मोहम्मद इब्न अहमद का निधन हुआ। इनका जन्म उज्बेकिस्तान के बेरूनी में 5 सितंबर 973 को हुआ बताया जाता है।।

1232 गुलाम वंश का शासक शम्स उद्दीन इल्तुतमिश ग्वालियर पर पूरी तरह काबिज हुआ। कुछ दिन बाद यह दिल्ली जीत कर वहां का सुल्तान बना और दिल्ली सल्तनत स्थापित की।

1577 सर फ्रांसिस ड्रेक ने अपने दौर की विश्व यात्रा पर पांच जहाजों और 164 पुरुषों के साथ प्लायमाउथ, इंग्लैंड से प्रस्थान किया।

1754 उस्मान तृतीय ने (1754-1757) महमूद प्रथम को तुर्क साम्राज्य का राजा बनाया।

1772 नारायण राव महाराष्ट्र में सतारा के पेशवा बने।

1835 उड़ीसा के विख्यात ज्योतिषी और सिद्धांत दर्पण नामक संस्कृत, उड़िया ग्रंथ के रचयिता पठानी सामंता यानी महामहोपाध्याय चंद्रशेखरा सिंहा हरिचंदाना महापात्रा सामंता का जन्म खंडापाड़ा में हुआ।

1903 हिंदी मनोवैज्ञानिक उपन्यासों के आरंभकर्ता इलाचन्द्र जोशी का जन्म हुआ।

1916 ऑस्ट्रिया के टायरॉल में हिमस्खलन से 24 घंटे में 10,000 ऑस्ट्रियाई और इतालवी सैनिकों की मौत।

1920 नीदरलैंड के हेग में लीग ऑफ नेशनस का अंतरराष्ट्रीय न्यायालय स्थापित किया गया, जिसे आज हम इंटरनेशनल कोर्ट आॅफ जस्टिस के नाम से जानते हैं।

1921 बनारस हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय का उद्घाटन प्रिंस ऑफ वेल्स यानी इंग्लैंड के राजकुमार एडवर्ड अष्टम ने किया। 1921 में इसी दिन वाशिंगटन सम्मेलन में अमेरिका, ब्रिटेन, जापान और फ्रांस के बीच फोर पॉवर संधि पर दस्तख्त हुए। इसमें किसी बड़े सवाल पर दो सदस्यों में विवाद होने पर चारों देशों से सलाह करने का प्रावधान था।

1925 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अर्थशास्त्री लक्ष्मी चंद्र जैन का जन्म हुआ।

1944 राजस्थान के मेवाड़ राजवंश के संरक्षक अरविंद सिंह का जन्म सिटी पैलेस, उदयपुर में हुआ।

1937 चीन और जापान के बीच हुए नानजिंग के युद्ध में जापान की जीत हुई। इसके बाद लंबे समय तक चीन में नरसंहार और अत्याचार का दौर चला। करीब 3 लाख चीनी लोग मारे गये।

1954 दिल्ली में भाजपा के प्रमुख नेता रहे हर्षवर्धन का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रमुख कांग्रेस नेता चरन दास महंत का जन्म हुआ।

1955 भारत के गोवा राज्य के प्रमुख भाजपा नेता, गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री और केंद्रीय मंत्री रहे मनोहर पर्रिकर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन भारत और सोवियत संघ ने पंचशील प्रकाशन को स्वीकार किया।

1959 आर्क विशप वकारियोस साइप्रस के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति चुने गए।

1960 तेलुगू सिनेमा के लोकप्रिय अभिनेता होने के साथ साथ बाॅलीवुड में भी अपने अभिनय की अमिट छाप छोड़ने वाले दग्गुबाती वेंकटेश का जन्म करमचेदु में हुआ।

1961 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेटर मंसूर अली खान पटौदी ने अपना टेस्ट मैच करियर दिल्ली में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ शुरू किया था।

1963 कर्नाटक विधान परिषद सदस्य, केंद्र में राज्य मंत्री रहे भाजपा नेता बासनगुडा रामनगुडा पाटिल यत्नाल का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन प्रमुख तमिल राजनेता टीटीवी दिनाकरण का जन्म हुआ।

1969 बाॅलीवुड की बहुप्रतिभावान फैशन डिजायनर और फिल्म निर्मात्री अलवीरा खान अग्निहोत्री का जन्म इंदौर में हुआ।

1973 हिंदी फिल्म जगत के प्रमुख लेखक, गीतकार संपूर्ण लाल कालरा यानी गुलजार की लेखिका बेटी मेघना गुलजार का जन्म हुआ।

1974 यूरोपीय महाद्वीप में स्थित माल्टा गणतंत्र देश बना। इसी दिन भारतीय जनता पार्टी के सबसे बेशर्म नेता और प्रवक्ता, विवादास्पद, अतार्किक, तथ्यहीन बयान देने के लिए कुख्यात संबित पात्रा का जन्म धनबाद में हुआ। इसी दिन कन्नड़ सिनेमा की बहुप्रतिभावान अभिनेत्री, फिल्म निर्मात्री, निर्देशिका, पटकथाकार और गीत लेखिका कविता लंकेश का जन्म हुआ।

1977 माइकल फरेरा ने राष्ट्रीय बिलियर्ड्स चैंपियनशिप में नये नियमों के तहत 1149 अंक का सर्वाधिक ब्रेक लगाया।

1978 मलयालम सिनेमा और टेलीविजन की जानी मानी कलाकार पूर्णिमा इंद्रजीत का जन्म केरल की राजधानी तिरुअनंतपुरम में हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध पंजाबी भंगड़ा बैंड बी21 के प्रमुख सदस्य, प्रसिद्ध पंजाबी गायक जस्सी सिद्धू का जन्म बर्मिंघम, इंग्लैंड में हुआ।

1980 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी-मानी बांग्ला फिल्म और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल स्वस्तिका मुखर्जी का जन्म हुआ।

1981 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेटर अजय रात्रा का जन्म फरीदाबाद में हुआ इसी दिन पोलैंड में सेना ने सत्ता पर कब्जा किया और पोलिश प्रधानमंत्री वोज्शिएक जारुजेल्स्की ने मार्शल लॉ घोषित किया, किसी भी तरह की जन एकजुटता को अपराध घोषित कर दिया और यूनियन नेताओं को कैद कर लिया।

1984 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड मराठी, तमिल और भोजपुरी फिल्म अभिनेत्री, निमात्री एवं माॅडल मधु शर्मा जयपुर में हुआ। इसी दिन जाने माने बाॅलीवुड अभिनेता, संगीतज्ञ, एंकर और डीजे अली मर्चेंट का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1986 पोलैंड में हिदी फिल्मों की प्रसिद्ध भारतीय बाॅलीवुड अभिनेत्री स्मिता पाटिल का निधन हुआ।

1989 केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री मुफ्ती मोहम्मद सईद की बेटी रुबैया सईद को आतंकवादियों के चंगुल से छुड़ाने के बदले पांच कश्मीरी आतंकवादियों को जेल से रिहा किया गया।

1990 दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा तमिल, तेलुगू इत्यादि की जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल रेजिना कैसेंड्रा का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1995 दक्षिण लंदन के ब्रिक्सटन में पुलिस हिरासत में एक अश्वेत व्यक्ति की मौत के बाद सैकड़ों श्वेत और अश्वेत युवक सड़कों पर उतर आए, उन्होंने तोड़फोड़ की और दुकानों तथा कारों को आग लगा दी।

1996 कोफी अन्नान संयुक्त राष्ट्र के महासचिव चुने गए।

2001 भारतीय संसद पर आतंकवादी हमला हुआ। सरकार के अनुसार यह आतंकी पाकिस्तान समर्थित थे। इसी दिन 2001 में इस्रायल ने फिलिस्तीनी नेता यासिर अराफात से संपर्क समाप्त किये।

2002 यूरोपीय संघ का विस्तार किया गया। साइप्रस, चेक गणराज्य, एस्टोनिया, हंगरी, लातविया, लिथुआनिया, पोलैंड, स्लोवाकिया और स्लोवेनिया इसमें शामिल किए गए।

2003 इराकी राष्ट्रपति सद्दाम हुसैन को उनके गृह नगर टिगरीट के निकट गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।

2004 इस्लामाबाद में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच परमाणु और सर क्रीक पर वार्ता प्रारंभ हुई और इसी दिन चिली के भूतपूर्व तानाशाह जनरल अगस्तो पिनोसे को अपहरण और नरसंहार के 9 आरोप लगने के बाद घर में नजरबंद किया गया।

2006 50वें सदस्य के रूप में वियतनाम को शामिल करने हेतु विश्व व्यापार संगठन ने अधिसूचना जारी की।

2007 श्रीलंका सेना व लिट्टेे के मध्य हुए संघर्ष में 17 लिट्टे उग्रवादी मारे गये।

2008 जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के पाँचवें चरण के लिए 11 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में 57ः मतदान हुआ।

2012 नेत्रहीन ट्वेंटी-20 विश्व कप के फाइनल मुकाबले में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम ने पाकिस्तान को 30 रनों से हराकर विश्व विजेता का खिताब जीता।

2014 नाटो के काफिले में शामिल अमेरिका के 2 सैनिक काबुल में तालिबान द्वारा किये गये बम विस्फोट में मारे गए।

1048 Al-Biruni i.e. Abu Rayhan Mohammad ibn Ahmad, great Persian scholar, writer, scientist, theologian and Iranian thinker of the Islamic Golden Age, passed away. He is said to have been born on 5 September 973 in Biruni, Uzbekistan.

1232 Shams-ud-din Iltutmish, the ruler of the slave dynasty, completely captured Gwalior. After a few days he conquered Delhi and became its Sultan and established the Delhi Sultanate.

1577 Sir Francis Drake sets sail from Plymouth, England with five ships and 164 men on his round-the-world voyage.

1754 Osman III made Mahmud I (1754-1757) the king of the Ottoman Empire.

1772 Narayan Rao became Peshwa of Satara in Maharashtra.

1835 Pathani Samanta i.e. Mahamahopadhyay Chandrashekhara Singha Harichandana Mahapatra Samanta, the well-known astrologer of Orissa and author of the Sanskrit, Oriya book named Siddhant Darpan, was born in Khandapada.

1903 Ilachandra Joshi, the initiator of Hindi psychological novels, was born.

1916 An avalanche in Tyrol, Austria, kills 10,000 Austrian and Italian soldiers in 24 hours.

1920 The International Court of the League of Nations was established in The Hague, Netherlands, which we know today as the International Court of Justice.

1921 Banaras Hindu University was inaugurated by Prince of Wales i.e. Prince Edward VIII of England. On this day in 1921, the Four Power Pact was signed between America, Britain, Japan and France at the Washington Conference. In this, there was a provision to consult the four countries if there was a dispute between two members on any major question.

1925 Lakshmi Chandra Jain, noted Indian economist, was born.

1944 Arvind Singh, patriarch of the Mewar dynasty of Rajasthan, was born at City Palace, Udaipur.

In 1937, Japan won the Battle of Nanjing between China and Japan. After this, there was a period of genocide and atrocities in China for a long time. About 3 lakh Chinese people were killed.

1954 Harsh Vardhan, prominent BJP leader, was born in Delhi. On this day the prominent Congress leader of Chhattisgarh Charan Das Mahant was born.

1955 Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa and Union Minister, prominent BJP leader of the Indian state of Goa, was born. On this day India and the Soviet Union accepted the Panchsheel publication.

1959 Archbishop Vakarios is elected the first President of Cyprus.

1960 Daggubati Venkatesh, who left an indelible impression of his acting in Bollywood as well as being a popular actor in Telugu cinema, was born in Karamchedu.

1961 Renowned Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi made his Test match debut against England at Delhi.

1963 Basanguda Ramanaguda Patil Yatnal, BJP leader, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Minister of State at the Center, was born. Prominent Tamil politician TTV Dhinakaran was born on this day.

1969 Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bollywood's multitalented fashion designer and film producer, was born in Indore.

1973 Meghna Gulzar, daughter of Hindi film writer and lyricist Sampurna Lal Kalra i.e. Gulzar, was born.

1974 Malta became a republic country located in the European continent. On this day, the most shameless leader and spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sambit Patra, notorious for making controversial, illogical, factless statements, was born in Dhanbad. On this day, Kavita Lankesh, a multi-talented actress, film producer, director, screenwriter and lyricist of Kannada cinema, was born.

1977 Michael Ferreira made the highest break of 1149 points in the National Billiards Championship under the new rules.

1978 Poornima Indrajith, a well-known actress in Malayalam cinema and television, was born in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. On this day famous Punjabi singer Jassi Sidhu, lead member of famous Punjabi bhangra band B21, was born in Birmingham, England.

1980 Swastika Mukherjee, beautiful, bold, well-known Bengali film and television actress and model, was born.

1981 Renowned Indian cricketer Ajay Ratra was born in Faridabad On this day the military seized power in Poland and Polish Prime Minister Wojciech Jaruzelski declared martial law, criminalizing mass mobilization of any kind and imprisoning union leaders took.

1984 Madhu Sharma, a well-known beautiful, bold Marathi, Tamil and Bhojpuri film actress and model, was born in Jaipur. On this day noted Bollywood actor, musician, anchor and DJ Ali Merchant was born in Bombay.

1986 Smita Patil, famous Indian Bollywood actress of Hindi films, passed away in Poland.

1989 Five Kashmiri terrorists were released from jail in exchange for the release of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, from the clutches of terrorists.

1990 South Indian Tamil, Telugu, well-known, beautiful, bold actress and model Regina Cassandra was born in Chennai.

1995 Following the death of a black man in police custody in Brixton, south London, hundreds of white and black youths took to the streets, vandalizing and setting shops and cars on fire.

1996 Kofi Annan was elected Secretary-General of the United Nations.
