627 सम्राट हेराक्लियस के नेतृत्व में एक बीजान्टिन (आधुनिक तुर्की) सेना ने इराक के मोसुल के निकट जनरल शहजाद की अगुवाई वाली सम्राट खोसराऊ द्वितीय की फारसी सेना को हराया।

1232 गुलाम वंश के शासक इल्तुतमिश ने ग्वालियर पर कब्जा किया।

1787 अमेरिका के संविधान को अंगीकार करने वाला पेनसिल्वेनिया दूसरा प्रांत बना।

1800 वाशिंगटन डीसी को अमेरिका की राजधानी बनाया गया।

1822 अमेरिका द्वारा मेक्सिको को एक स्वतंत्र राष्ट्र के रूप में आधिकारिक तौर पर मान्यता दी गई।

1872 राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ से पूर्व के प्रमुख कट्टर, संकीर्ण हिंदू संगठन हिंदू महासभा के अध्यक्ष बालकृष्ण शिवराम मुंजे का जन्म हुआ।

1882 बंकिम चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय का बांग्ला उपन्यास आनंद मठ प्रकाशित हुआ। राष्ट्रगीत के रूप में जिस वंदे मातरम अपनाया गया वह गीत इसी उपन्यास से लिया गया है।

1884 ऑस्ट्रेलिया और इंग्लैंड के बीच पहला क्रिकेट टेस्ट मैच खेला गया।

1905 अंग्रेजी के विख्यात भारतीय लेखक मुल्कराज आनंद का जन्म पेशावर पाकिस्तान की धरती पर हुआ।

1911 भारत की राजधानी कलकत्ता से दिल्ली स्थानांतरित की गई। 1911 की 12 दिसंबर 1911 को सवेरे 80 हजार से ज्यादा की भीड़ के सामने ब्रिटिश सम्राट जॉर्ज पंचम ने कहा, हमें भारत की जनता को ये बताते हुए खुशी हो रही है कि सरकार और उसके मंत्रियों की सलाह पर देश को बेहतर ढंग से प्रशासित करने के लिए ब्रिटेन की सरकार भारत की राजधानी को कलकत्ता से दिल्ली स्थानांतरित करती है। सम्राट के साथ रानी मैरी भी थीं। सम्राट और रानी के लिए दिल्ली में दरबार सजाया गया था। इस मौके पर देशभर के राजे-रजवाड़े और जागीरदारों, जमींदारियों के लोग उपस्थित थे। इस समारोह के एक दिन पहले पूरी दिल्ली जगमगा उठी थी। सैकड़ों घरों-गलियों, चौक, पार्क, चौराहों को सजाया गया था। इस आयोजन का कोई विरोध न हो, इसके लिए गिरफ्तारियां भी की गई थीं। 12 दिसंबर को छुट्टी भी घोषित हो गई। हर तरफ पुलिस कड़ा पहरा था। अंग्रेजों ने दिल्ली में वायसराय हाउस और नेशनल वॉर मेमोरियल इत्यादि इमारतें बनाईं, जो आज के राष्ट्रपति भवन और इंडिया गेट हैं। दिल्ली को ब्रिटिश आर्किटेक्ट एडवर्ड लुटियंस और सर हर्बट बेकर ने डिजाइन किया। 13 फरवरी 1931 को दिल्ली का राजधानी के रूप में उद्घाटन किया गया।

1915 चीन के राष्ट्रपति युवान शी की ने राजतंत्र को पुनः बहाल कर स्वयं को चीन का सम्राट घोषित किया। इसी दिन जाने-माने अमेरिकन अभिनेता और गायक फ्रैंक सिनात्रा का जन्म हुआ।

1917 फ्रेंच आल्प्स में फ्रांसीसी सेना की ट्रेन के पटरी से उतरने से 543 लोगों की मौत हो गयी।

1923 इटली में पो नदी बांध फटने से 600 लोगों मारे गए।

1925 संस्कृत एवं बृज भाषा के साहित्यकार, नाटककार राधाचरण गोस्वामी का निधन हुआ।

1936 चीन के नेता च्यांग काई शेक ने जापान के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1940 महाराष्ट्र के बारामती में शरद पवार का जन्म हुआ था। शरद पवार मात्र 27 साल की उम्र में विधायक बारामती से चुने गए। शरद पवार महाराष्ट्र के तब सबसे युवा मुख्यमंत्री बने 38 साल की उम्र में। 1999 में सोनिया गांधी को कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष बनाए जाने से नाराज शरद पवार ने पीए संगमा और तारिक अनवर के साथ मिलकर नेशनलिस्ट कांग्रेस पार्टी एनसीपी बनाई। वर्तमान में शरद पवार राज्यसभा के सदस्य हैं।

इरानी शाही सेना ने 1947 में अजरबाइजान में सत्ता पर पुनः अधिकार कियाकर लिया।

1941 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अंतरिक्ष वैज्ञानिक एस नंबी नारायणन का जन्म नागरकोली में हुआ।

1949 पहली मोदी सरकार 2014 में केंद्रीय मंत्री हुए भाजपा नेता गोपीनाथ पांडुरंग मुंडे का जन्म हुआ।

1950 दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा के बेहद लोकप्रिय अभिनेता रजनीकांत का जन्म। रजनीकांत उनका फिल्मी नाम है जबकि उनका वास्तविक नाम शिवाजी राव गायकवाड़ है।

1954 भारतीय पुलिस सेवा के 1982 बैच के अधिकारी और मुम्बई के आतंक विरोधी दस्ते के प्रमुख हेमंत करकरे का जन्म हुआ।

1956 राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ के एक संगठन विश्व हिंदू परिषद के अध्यक्ष, डाॅक्टर, सर्जन, संकीर्णतावादी हिंदू नेता प्रवीण तोगड़िया का जन्म हुआ। आरएसएस और भाजपा से संबंध खराब होने के बाद तोगड़िया अब अपना अलग संगठन अंतरराष्ट्रीय हिंदू परिषद चलाते हैं। मशहूर महिला क्रिकेटर अंजलि शर्मा का जन्म हुआ।

1958 गिनि संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ का सदस्य बना। 1958 विल्सन जोन्स अमेच्यर बिलियर्ड्स में विश्व चैंपियन बने।

1959 क्रिकेट प्रसिद्ध खिलाड़ी और भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के कप्तान रहे कृष्णमचारी श्रीकांत का मद्रास में जन्म हुआ।

विश्व प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकन टेनिस खिलाड़ी ट्रेसी ऑस्टिन का जन्म 1962 में हुआ।

1963 केन्या स्वतंत्र हुआ।

1964 राष्ट्रकवि कहे गये प्रसिद्ध हिंदी कवि मैथिलीशरण गुप्त का निधन हुआ।

1968 भारतीय जनता पार्टी के प्रमुख मुस्लिम नेता और राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता सय्यद शाहनवाज हुसैन का जन्म सुपौल, बिहार में हुआ।

1971 भारतीय संसद द्वारा पूर्व राजाओं को प्रदान की जानी वाली सभी सुविधायें रद्द कर दी गई।

1980 जानी-मानी, बोल्ड, खूबसूरत भोजपुरी तथा अन्य फिल्मों और टेलीविजन की अभिनेत्री, माॅडल, नर्तकी और यूट्यूबर संभावना सेठ का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन 1980 में जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता सिद्धार्थ शुक्ला का जन्म हुआ। जानी-मानी

1981 पेरू के संयुक्त राष्ट्र में प्रतिनिधि रहे जेवियर पेरेज द कुइयार संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ के महासचिव निर्वाचित। इसी दिन भारत के क्रिकेट खिलाडी युवराज सिंह का जन्म 1981 में हुआ।

1988 दक्षिण लंदन में सुबह के व्यस्त समय में तीन रेलगाड़ियां आपस में टकरा गईं। इस हादसे में 35 लोगों की मौत हो गई। हादसे में 100 से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए।

1990 तिरुनेल्लेई नारायनय्यर यानी टीएन. शेषन भारत के मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त नियुक्त हुए।

1991 टेलीविजन की जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बहुप्रतिभावान अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल आयशा क़ाज़ी का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1992 हैदराबाद के हुसैन सागर झील में विशालकाय बुद्ध प्रतिमा स्थापित की गई।

1996 भारत एवं बांग्लादेश के मध्य गंगाजल के बंटवारे को लेकर 30 वर्षीय संधि पर हस्ताक्षर।

1997 जाने माने भारतीय फ्रीस्टाइल पहलवान रवि कुमार दहिया का जन्म हुआ।

1998 अमेरिकी सदन की न्यायिक समिति ने राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन के खिलाफ महाभियोग चलाने की मंजूरी दी, उन पर उनकी एक कर्मचारी मोनिका लेवेंस्की ने यौन शोषण करने का आरोप लगाया था। इसी दिन साहित्य के क्षेत्र में नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता अलेक्जेंडर शोल्जेनित्सिन ने रूस का सर्वोच्च सांस्कृतिक पुरस्कार लेने से इंकार किया।

2000 कर्नाटक के प्रभावशाली राजनेता और 15वें मुख्यमंत्री हुए जेएच पटेल का निधन हुआ।

2001 भारत ने नेपाल को दो चीता हैलीकॉप्टर और हथियार दिये।

2004 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रमुख नेता और जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री हुए सैयद मीर कासिम का निधन हुआ।

2005 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फिल्म निर्देशक तथा लोकप्रिय धार्मिक दूरदर्शन धारावाहिक रामायण के निर्माता रामानन्द सागर का निधन हुआ।

2007 पेरु की एक अदालत ने पूर्व राष्ट्रपति एल्बर्टो फूजीमारो को छह साल का कारावास व 13,000 डॉलर के जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई।

2008 प्रशासनिक सुधार आयोग के अध्यक्ष एम वीरप्पा मोइली ने सरकारी कर्मचारियों के सेवा निगमों में व्यापक बदलाव की सिफारिश की। इसी दिन भाजपा नेताओं रमन सिंह छत्तीसगढ़ के व शिवराज सिंह ने मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली।

2009 डेमोक्रेटिक नेता एनीस पार्कर की जीत के साथ ही ह्यूस्टन उस समय का अमेरिका का ऐसा सबसे बड़ा शहर बना, जिसने एक समलैंगिक को अपना मेयर चुना।

2012 उत्तर प्रदेश विधान सभा के अध्यक्ष और उत्तराखंड के पहले मुख्यमंत्री हुए नित्यानंद स्वामी का निधन हुआ।

2015 पेरिस में आयोजित संयुक्त राष्ट्र सम्मेलन में जलवायु परिवर्तन पर ऐतिहासिक समझौता, जिसमें 195 देश ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन कम करने पर सहमत हुए। इस समझौते ने क्योटो करार का स्थान लिया।

2018 शक्तिकांत दास ने भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के 25वें गवर्नर के रूप में पदभार संभाला। इसी दिन 2018 में मध्यप्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में 15 साल लंबे कार्यकाल के बाद भाजपा नेता शिवराज सिंह चैहान ने विधानसभा चुनाव में हार के बाद पद से इस्तीफा दिया 

2019 लोकसभा और विधानसभाओं में अनुसूचित जाति एवं जनजातियों को मिले आरक्षण की अवधि दस साल बढ़ाने संबंधी संविधान संशोधन विधेयक को संसद की मंजूरी मिली एवं इसी दिन 2019 में रूस के एकमात्र विमानवाहक पोत में आर्कटिक शिपयार्ड में मरम्मत के दौरान आग लगी। इसी दिन 2019 में राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने विवादित नागरिकता संशोधन कानून सीएए को मंजूरी दी।

1872 Balkrishna Shivram Munje, president of the Hindu Mahasabha, a prominent hardline, parochial Hindu organization prior to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was born.

1882 Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's Bengali novel Ananda Math was published. The song Vande Mataram which was adopted as the national anthem is taken from this novel.

1884 The first cricket Test match was played between Australia and England.

1905 Mulkraj Anand, the famous Indian writer of English, was born on the land of Peshawar Pakistan.

1911 The capital of India was shifted from Calcutta to Delhi. On the morning of December 12, 1911, in front of a crowd of more than 80 thousand, the British Emperor George V said, We are happy to inform the people of India that on the advice of the government and its ministers, to administer the country better For this, the British government transfers the capital of India from Calcutta to Delhi. Sharad Pawar was born in 1940 in Baramati, Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar was elected MLA from Baramati at the age of just 27. 1964 Famous Hindi poet Maithilisharan Gupta, who was called Rashtrakavi, passed away.

1968 Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, prominent Muslim leader and national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was born in Supaul, Bihar.

1971 All the facilities provided to the former kings were canceled by the Indian Parliament.
