1858 प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक जगदीश चन्द्र बोस का जन्म हुआ। बोस रेडियो सिग्नल डिटेक्ट करने के लिए सेमीकंडक्टर का प्रयोग करने वाले पहले वैज्ञानिक थे। बोस पहले वैज्ञानिक थे जिन्होंने रेडियो और माइक्रोवेब ऑप्टिक पर कार्य किया। उन्होंने क्रेस्कोग्राफ का आविष्कार किया था। बोस ने वनस्पति विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में भी महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया। बोस रेडियो विज्ञान के जनक माने जाते हैं। शुरुआत में उन्हें अपने काम का श्रेय नहीं मिला बल्कि रेडियो खोज की उपलब्धि इटली के वैज्ञानिक मारकोनी को दी गई, जिसके लिए 1909 में मारकोनी को नोबेल पुरस्कार भी दिया गया था। 23 नवंबर 1978 को इस महान वैज्ञानिक का निधन हुआ था।

1872 पहला फुटबॉल अंतरराष्ट्रीय मैच इंग्लैंड और स्कॉटलैंड की टीमों के बीच स्कॉटलैंड क्रिकेट ग्राउंड में खेला गया था। इस पहले इंटरनेशनल मैच में स्कॉटलैंड ने नीली और इंग्लैंड ने सफेद जर्सी पहनी थी। इस मैच को देखने के लिए 4 हजार से अधिक दर्शक स्टेडियम पहुंचे थे। ये मैच 15 मिनट देरी से शुरू हुआ था, क्योंकि दोनों टीमें मैच की तैयारी में जुटी थीं। मैच के वॉर्मअप के लिए खिलाड़ी धूम्रपान भी कर रहे थे। इस मैच का कोई नतीजा नहीं निकला। 90 मिनट के खेल के बाद भी दोनों टीमें कोई गोल नहीं दाग पाई थीं और मैच ड्रॉ हो गया। मैच ड्रॉ होने के बाद दोनों टीमों के फिर से मैच कराए जाने की मांग उठी थी। लोगों का कहना था कि हम गोल देखने आए थे, लेकिन गोल देख ही नहीं पाए। इसके बाद 8 मार्च 1873 को दोबारा इंग्लैंड और स्कॉटलैंड के बीच मैच हुआ और इस मैच में इंग्लैंड ने स्कॉटलैंड को 4-2 से हराया।

1874 भारत के विश्व स्तरीय प्रभावशाली प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू के समकालीन ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री विंस्टन चर्चिल का जन्म हुआ।

1939 तत्कालीन सोवियत रूस ने सीमा विवाद को लेकर फिनलैंड पर आक्रमण किया।

1942 इंपीरियल जापानी नौसेना के युद्धपोतों ने गुआडल कैनाल पर तस्सराफोंगरिया के पास एक रात के नौसैनिक युद्ध के दौरान संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिकी की नौसेना को हराया।

1944 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी साहित्यकार मैत्रेयी पुष्पा का जन्म में हुआ।

1990 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री, माॅडल एवं गायिका राशि खन्ना का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1993 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन ने ब्रैडी हैंडगन हिंसा के बाद हिंसा निवारण कानून पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1994 पर्यटन जहाज आशीले लाउरो सोमालिया के नजदीक सागर में आग लगने के बाद डूब गया।

1999 अमेरिका के उत्तर पश्चिम शहर सिएटल में विश्व व्यापार संगठन का तीसरा अधिवेशन प्रारम्भ।

2000 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति चुनाव मामले में अल गोर ने पुनर्मतगणना की अपील की। 2000 में इसी दिन भारत की प्रियंका चोपड़ा मिस वर्ल्ड बनीं। वे बाद में बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं टाॅप माॅडल बनीं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र की ब्रांड एंबेस्डर हैं और अमेरिकी गायक निक जोनस के साथ विवाह कर वे आजकल अमेरिका में रहती हैं।

2001 विश्व विख्यात अमेरिकी पॉप गायक जार्ज हैरीसन का हुआ।

2002 आईसीसी ने जिम्बाव्वे में न खेलने वाले देशों के विरुद्ध कार्रवाई की चेतावनी दी।

2004 बांग्लादेश की संसद में महिलाओं के लिए 45 प्रतिशत सीटों वाला विधेयक पारित। 2004 में इसी दिन लायन एयर फ्लाइट सुरकरता मध्य जावा, इंडोनेशिया में दुर्घटना से 26 की मौत हुई और 538 घायल हुए.

2008 मुम्बई में हुए आतंकी हमले के बाद भारत के गृह मंत्री शिवराज पाटिल ने मुंबई हमलों के लिए नैतिक जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए अपना इस्तीफा सौंपा था, सरकार ने संघीय जाँच एजेंसी एनआईए के गठन की घोषणा की। सरकार ने एसएटी रिजवी वेतन समिति का कार्यकाल बढ़ाने का निर्णय लिया।

2011 पाकिस्तान सरकार ने विश्व समाचार चैनल बीबीसी को वृतचित्र सीक्रेट पाकिस्तान को दिखाने के कारण प्रसारण पर रोक लगा दी। 2011 में इसी दिन वाशिंगटन स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी के शोधकर्ताओं ने एक कृत्रिम हड्डी स्कैफोल्ड विकसित जिसे 3 डी प्रिंटर का उपयोग करके उत्पादित किया जा सकता है। डॉक्टरों को घायल रोगियों के लिए प्रतिस्थापन हड्डी ऊतक को जल्दी से तैयार करने की सुविधा।

2012 भारत के बारहवें प्रधानमंत्री इन्द्र कुमार गुजराल का निधन हुआ।

2014 फ्रांस के दक्षिण में भारी बाढ़ के कारण 5 लोगों की जान चली गई और 3000 से अधिक लोगों को अपने घर छोड़ने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा।

2021 अमेरिकी प्रकाशन कंपनी मरियम-वेबस्टर के अनुसार 2021 में सर्वाधिक इस्तेमाल हुआ शब्द रहा - वैक्सीन।

1858 Famous scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose was born. Bose was the first scientist to use semiconductors to detect radio signals. Bose was the first scientist who worked on radio and microwave optics. He invented the Crescograph. Bose also made important contributions in the field of botany. Bose is considered the father of radio science. Initially, he did not get credit for his work, but the achievement of radio discovery was given to the Italian scientist Marconi, for which Marconi was also awarded the Nobel Prize in 1909. This great scientist died on 23 November 1978.

1872 The first football international match was played between the teams of England and Scotland at the Scotland Cricket Ground.
