1688 फ्रांस के राजा लुईस चैदहवें ने नीदरलैंड के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1805 ग्रेट ब्रिटेन में सबसे लंबा जलमार्ग पोंटेसिलेट एक्वाडक्ट खोला गया।

1842 अमेरिका के इंडियाना के साउथ बेंड में नोट्रेडेम विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना पवित्र क्रॉस के रोमन कैथोलिक मंडली के सदस्यों द्वारा एक सर्व-पुरुषीकरण के रूप में की गई।

1851 लंदन-पेरिस के बीच टेलीग्राफ कनेक्शन शुरू किया गया।

1859 प्रख्यात लेखक चार्ल्स डिकेन्स की ए टेल ऑफ टू सिटीज का अंतिम भाग साहित्यिक पत्रिका ऑल द इयर राउंड में प्रकाशित हुआ।

1865 लुइस कैरोल की पुस्तक एलिस इन वंडरलैंड अमेरिका में प्रकाशित हुई।

1867 डेट्रॉइट के जेबी सदरलैंड द्वारा प्रथम वातानुकूलित रेल कार पेटेंट कराई गई।

1881 प्रख्यात भारतीय लेखक, कवि, भाषाविद और सम्पादक  नाथूराम प्रेमी का जन्म हुआ।

1870 विख्यात न्यायविद, अधिवक्ता, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, शिक्षाविद, कथाकार एवं कवि हरि सिंह गौर का जन्म सागर में हुआ।

1885 पहली बार उल्कापिंड की तस्वीर ली गयी।

1890 इंदौर राजशाही के महाराजा हुए तुकोजी राव होल्कर तृतीय का माहेश्वर में जन्म हुआ।

1894 विश्व प्रसिद्ध जर्मन गणितज्ञ और भौतिकशास्त्री हेनरी रोडल्क हर्टज का 37 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ।

1914 हरियाणा के प्रमुख राजनेता हुए रणवीर सिंह हुड्डा का जन्म हुआ।

1919 भारत के प्रसिद्ध इतिहासकार और शिक्षाविद् राम शरण शर्मा का जन्म हुआ। उनकी कम से कम प्राचीन भारत और आर्य संस्कृति नाम की किताब तो हर किसी को पढ़नी चाहिए।

1921 देश में श्वेत क्रांति के जनक वर्गीज कुरियन का जन्म हुआ। श्वेत क्रांति का मतलब अधिकाधिक पशु दुग्ध उत्पादन। इन्होंने पशुपालन और दुग्ध उत्पादन को बढ़ावा दिया। इन्हें मिल्कमेन भी कहा गया।

1923 बाॅलीवुड फिल्मों के प्रसिद्ध सिनेमेटोग्राफर वीके मूर्ति का जन्म हुआ।

1926 प्रो यशपाल का जन्म हुआ। प्रो. यशपाल विख्यात वैज्ञानिक और शिक्षाशस्त्री हुए। इन्होंने गरीब, आम आदमी के लिए गुणवत्तापरक शिक्षा के लिए प्रयत्न किये। 1973-1981 तक अंतरिक्ष उपयोग केंद्र के पहले निदेशक के रूप में अहमदाबाद में प्रो. यशपाल ने आम आदमी के हित के लिए अंतरिक्ष प्रौद्योगिकी के अनुप्रयोगों के क्षेत्र में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता प्राप्त एक उत्कृष्ट संस्था के रूप में इस केंद्र का निर्माण किया। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध राजनीतिज्ञ, लोकसभा अध्यक्ष रहे रवि का जन्म हुआ।

1932 महान क्रिकेटर डॉन ब्रैडमैन ने प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में दस हजार रन बनाये।

1933 जाने माने भारतीय सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, वामपंथी राजनीज्ञ, तर्कवादी एवं शिवाजी कौन होता शीर्षक बहुचर्चित किताब के लेखक गोविंद पानसरे का जन्म अहमदनगर में हुआ।

1948 विश्व का पहला पोलराइड कैमरा बॉस्टन, अमेरिका में बेचा गया।

1949 डाॅ. भीमराव अंबेडकर लिखित भारत का संविधान अंगीकार किया गया। संविधान सभा के अध्यक्ष ने स्वतंत्र भारत के संविधान पर हस्ताक्षर किए। संविधान 26 जनवरी 1950 से लागू किया गया।

1950 कोरियाई युद्ध-चोसिन जलाशय और -चोंगचोन नदी की लड़ाइयों के साथ, चीन ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा बल के खिलाफ बड़े पैमाने पर पलटवार किया।

1952 विख्यात और कुख्यात उर्दू शायर मुनव्वर राना का जन्म रायबरेली, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। इन्हें मां नाम की किताब पर साहित्य अकादम पुरस्कार से भी पुरस्कृत किया गया।

1954 किशन जी के नाम से मशहूर माओवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के पोलित ब्यूरो सदस्य, आंध्र पदेश के प्रमुख जनअधिकारवादी नेता, पश्चिम बंगाल में नक्सल आंदोलन चलाने वाले मल्लोजुला कोटेश्वर राव का  पेड्डपल्ली आंध्र प्रदेश में जन्म हुआ। पश्चिम बंगाल में इस जनपक्षधर नेता की पुलिस ने 24 नवंबर 2011 को गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी।

1961 ब्रिटेन के अमीर और बर्मिंघम विश्व विद्यालय के कुलपति तथा विख्यात बियर ब्रांड कोबरा बियर के मालिक करन फरीदुन बिलिमोरिया, बैरोन बिलिमोरिया का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1966 फ्रांस की रेंस नदी के मुहाने पर विश्व के पहले ज्वारीय ऊर्जा संयत्र ने काम करना शुरू किया।

1967 पुर्तगाल की राजधानी लिस्बन में बादल फटने से करीब 450 लोगों की मौत।

1974 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता और माॅडल, फिल्म निर्माता और टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता अर्जुन रामपाल का जन्म जबलपुर में हुआ।

1977 दक्षिण पूर्वी इंग्लैंड में प्रसारित इंटरगैलेक्टिक एसोसिएशन के सदर्न टेलीविजन का प्रतिनिधित्व करने का दावा करते हुए दर्शकों को चेतावनी दी कि बुराई के अपने सभी हथियारों को नष्ट कर देना चाहिए।

1979 जानी मानी खूबसूरत एवं बोल्ड मलयालम फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल संयुक्ता वर्मा का जन्म तिरुवला में हुआ।

1983 हथियारबंद डकैतों ने लंदन के हीथ्रो हवाई अड्डे पर ढाई करोड़ पाउंड के सोने की लूट की।

1984 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान मुख्यतः मलयालम सिनेमा की अभिनेत्री, प्रमुख डबिंग कलाकार एवं माॅडल रिया सैरा का जन्म कोट्टायम में हुआ। इराक और अमेरिका ने कूटनीतिक संबंध पुनः स्थापित किए।

1986 तमिल सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध फिल्म निर्देशक, पटकथा लेखक आनंद शंकर का जन्म हुआ।

1988 जस्सी गिल के नाम से मशहूर जाने माने गायक, फिल्म अभिनेता एवं रियलिटी शो प्रस्तोता जसदीप सिंह गिल का जन्म खन्ना में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी-मानी दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री मीरा नंदन का जन्म हुआ।

1989 लखनऊ में जानी मानी दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं बोल्ड माॅडल मीशा घोषल का जन्म हुआ।

1990 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड माॅडल, रियलिटी शो पर्फोमर तथा टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री अनुप्रिया कपूर का जन्म हुआ।

1992 विश्व पर्यावरण संरक्षण दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत हुई।

1996 मंगल ग्रह पर जीवन की संभावनाओं का पता लगाने के लिए अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा ने अंतरिक्ष यान मार्स ग्लोबल सर्वेयर अंतरिक्ष में भेजा

1996 संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद ने इराक के संदर्भ में आयल फॉर फूड डील प्रस्ताव सर्वसम्मति से पारित किया।

1997 पाकिस्तान के सुप्रीम कोर्ट के दो जजों ने मुख्य न्यायाधीश को निलम्बित किया।

1998 दिल्ली से सटे नौएडा जिसकी फुलफार्म है न्यू ओखला डवलपमेंट ऐरिया में शिवम मालवी गुर्जर का जन्म हुआ। शिवम जाने माने क्रिकेटर हैं। इसी दिन तुर्की के प्रधानमंत्री मेसुत यिल्माज ने संसद में अपनी सरकार के विश्वासमत हासिल नहीं कर पाने के बाद इस्तीफा दिया। 1998 में इसी दिन कंबोडिया के प्रधानमंत्री हुनसेन को औपचारिक रूप से पुनः देश का नया प्रधानमंत्री नियुक्त किया गया। इसी दिन 1998 में माहे (सेशल्स) में इस्रायल की लीनोर अबार्गिल 1998 की मिस वर्ल्ड चुनी गईं। वे अब अभिनेत्री, लाॅयर, माॅडल और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हैं। 1998 में इसी दिन टोनी ब्लेयर आयरलैंड की संसद को संबोधित करने वाले पहले ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री बने।

2001 नेपाल में 200 माओवादी विद्रोही मारे गये और राजा ज्ञानेंद्र की सरकार ने देश में आपातकाल लागू किया।

2002 बीबीसी के सर्वेक्षण में विंस्टन चर्चिल महानतम ब्रिटिश नागरिक चुने गये।

2006 इराक बम धमाके में 202 लोगों की मौत हुई।

2006 गाजा पट्टी में इजरायल और फिलिस्तीनी लड़ाकों के बीच संघर्ष विराम शुरू हुआ। फिलिस्तीनी राष्ट्रपति महमूद अब्बासंद इजरायल के प्रधानमंत्री एहुद ओलमर्ट के बीच वार्ता हुई।

2008 भारत के मुंबई में पाकिस्तान समर्थित आत्मघाती आतंकवादी हमला हुआ। आतंकवादियों ने ताज होटल में घुसकर अनेक अतिथियों को बंधक बना लिया। इसे भारतीय सेना ने तीन दिनों की कार्यवाई के पश्चात मुक्त करा लिया। सरकार के अनुसार आतंकवादी हमले में 164 लोग मरे, 250 से अधिक घायल हुए।

2008 1982 बैच के आईपीएस अधिकारी और मुम्बई के आतंक विरोधी दस्ते के प्रमुख हेमंत करकरे की गोली लगने से मौत हुई। मौत आंतकियों की गोली लगने से हुई या पुलिस की। यह स्पष्ट नहीं है। हिंदू चरमपंथियों की गतिविधियों की जांच करने वाले इस अफसर की मौत से साध्वी प्रज्ञा और उनके तमाम आरोपी खुश हुए।

2011 अमेरिका के नेतृत्व वाले नाटो बलों ने अफगानिस्तान-पाकिस्तान सीमा के साथ दो पाकिस्तानी सैन्य चुंगियों पर पाकिस्तानी सुरक्षा बलों को तैनात किया। इसी दिन 2011 में नासा ने रोबोटिक मंगल विज्ञान प्रयोगशाला का शुभारंभ किया, जो अभी तक मंगल पर भेजा गया सबसे बड़ा रोवर है, जिसका उद्देश्य मंगल ग्रह पर पिछले या वर्तमान जीवन के लिए साक्ष्य खोजना है।

2012 सीरिया में हवाई हमले में दस बच्चों की मौत और 15 घायल हुए। 2012 में इसी दिन वैज्ञानिकों ने एक अंटार्कटिक झील विडा में जीवन पाया जो कई हजारों साल पहले बर्फ की मोटी चादर ने ढक लिया था। इसी दिन 2012 में तथाकथित गांधीवादी अन्ना हजारे के लोकपाल के लिए चलाए गये आंदोलन से निकले अरविंद केजरीवाल ने आम आदमी पार्टी के नाम से एक नई राजनीतिक पार्टी बनाई। केजरीवाल आजकल दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री हैं।

2014 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय इतिहासकार और चिंतक तपन राय चैधरी का निधन हुआ।

2018 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा का इनसाइट मिशन सात महीने की यात्रा के बाद मंगल ग्रह पर उतरा। 2018 में इसी दिन अफगानिस्तान में पुलिस काफिले पर तालिबान के हमले में 22 पुलिसकर्मियों की मौत हुई।

2019 शिवसेना, कांग्रेस, राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी यानी एनसीपी गठबंधन महा विकास आघाड़ी ने महाराष्ट्र में सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश किया। 2019 में इसी दिन ट्रांसजेंडर समुदाय के सदस्यों के अधिकारों को सुनिश्चित करने संबंधी विधेयक संसद में पारित हुआ।

2021 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अपराध पुलिस संगठन इंटरपोल ने इस्तांबुल में हुई वार्षिक आमसभा में यूएई के कुख्यात मानव अधिकार हननकर्ता मेजर जनरल अहमद नसीर अल रायसी को अपना नया अध्यक्ष चुना। इंटरपोल ने संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के गृह मंत्रालय में महानिरीक्षक मेजर जनरल अहमद नसीर अल रायसी को 4 साल साल के लिए अध्यक्ष चुना है। उल्लेखनीय है कि मेजर जनरल रायसी पर मानवाधिकार समूह यूएई में मनमाने तरीके से लोगों को हिरासत में रखने और यातनाएं देने के आरोप लगाते रहे हैं।

1921 Verghese Kurien, the father of White Revolution was born in the country. White revolution means more animal milk production. He promoted animal husbandry and milk production. They were also called milkmen.

1923 VK Murthy, famous cinematographer of Bollywood films, was born.

1926 Prof. Yash Pal was born. Pro. Yashpal became a noted scientist and educationist. He tried for quality education for the poor, common man. As the first director of the Space Applications Center in Ahmedabad from 1973-1981, Prof. Yashpal built this center as an internationally recognized institution of excellence in the field of applications of space technology for the benefit of the common man. Ravi, a famous politician who was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, was born on this day.

1932 The great cricketer Don Bradman scored ten thousand runs in first class cricket.

1933 Govind Pansare, well-known Indian social worker, leftist politician, rationalist and author of the famous book titled Shivaji Kaun Hota, was born in Ahmednagar.

1948 The world's first Polaroid camera is sold in Boston, USA.

1949 dr. The Constitution of India written by Bhimrao Ambedkar was adopted. The President of the Constituent Assembly signed the Constitution of independent India. The constitution came into force from 26 January 1950.

1950 Korean War—With the battles of the Chosin Reservoir and the Chongchon River, China launched a massive counterattack against the UN Security Force.

1952 Munawar Rana, noted and notorious Urdu poet, was born in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. He was also awarded the Sahitya Akadem Award for the book Maa.

1954 Mallojula Koteswara Rao, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Maoists, known as Kishanji, a leading people's rights leader of Andhra Pradesh, who ran the Naxalite movement in West Bengal, was born in Peddapalli, Andhra Pradesh. In West Bengal, this pro-people leader was shot dead by the police on November 24, 2011.

1961 Karan Faridun Billimoria, Baron Billimoria, British emir and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham and owner of the famous beer brand Cobra Beer, was born in Hyderabad.

1966 The world's first tidal power plant began operating at the mouth of the Rance River in France.

1967 Around 450 people died due to a cloudburst in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

1974 Arjun Rampal, well-known Bollywood film actor and model, film producer and television show presenter, was born in Jabalpur.

1989: Misha Ghoshal, well-known South Indian film actress and bold model, was born in Lucknow.

1990 Anupriya Kapoor, well-known beautiful, bold model, reality show performer and television actress, was born.

In 1992, the celebration of World Environment Protection Day started.

In 1996, the US space agency NASA sent the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft to explore the possibilities of life on Mars.

1996 United Nations Security Council unanimously passed the Oil for Food Deal resolution in the context of Iraq.

1997 Two judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended the Chief Justice.

On this day in 1998, Tony Blair became the first British Prime Minister to address the Parliament of Ireland.

In 2001, 200 Maoist rebels were killed in Nepal and King Gyanendra's government imposed a state of emergency in the country.

Winston Churchill was voted the greatest British citizen in a 2002 BBC poll.

2011 US-led NATO forces deploy Pakistani security forces at two Pakistani military checkpoints along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. On this day in 2011, NASA launched the robotic Mars Science Laboratory, the largest rover ever sent to Mars, with the aim of finding evidence for past or present life on Mars.

2012 Air strike in Syria kills ten children and injures 15. On this day in 2012, scientists discovered life in Lake Vida, an Antarctic lake that had been covered by a thick sheet of ice many thousands of years ago. On this day in 2012, Arvind Kejriwal, who came out of the so-called Gandhian Anna Hazare's movement for Lokpal, formed a new political party in the name of Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal is the Chief Minister of Delhi these days.

2014 Tapan Roy Chowdhary, noted Indian historian and thinker, passed away.

2018: US space agency NASA's InSight mission lands on Mars after a seven-month journey. On this day in 2018, 22 policemen were killed in a Taliban attack on a police convoy in Afghanistan.

2019 Shiv Sena, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party ie NCP alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi stakes claim to form government in Maharashtra. On this day in 2019, a bill to ensure the rights of members of the transgender community was passed in Parliament.

2021 The International Criminal Police Organization Interpol elected UAE's notorious human rights abuser Major General Ahmed Nasir Al Raisi as its new president at its annual general assembly in Istanbul. Interpol has elected Major General Ahmed Nasir Al Raisi, Inspector General in the UAE's Ministry of Interior, as its chairman for a period of 4 years. It is notable that Major General Raisi has been accused by human rights groups of arbitrarily detaining people and torturing them in the UAE.
