1947 जाने माने ब्रिटिश राजनेता और लेबर पार्टी के सांसद वीरेंद्र कुमार का जन्म मंढाली, पंजाब, भारत में हुआ।

1949 भारत स्काउट एंड गाइड की स्थापना हुई।

1955 सेनापति क्रिश गोपालकृष्णन का केरल के तिरुअनंतपुरम में जन्म हुआ। क्रिश भारतीय अरबपति व्यवसायी हैं, जिन्हें दुनिया भर में आईटी सेवा उद्योग को बढ़ाने में उनकी भूमिका के लिए वैश्विक व्यापार और प्रौद्योगिकी विचारक के रूप में मान्यता प्राप्त है। इसी दिन जाने माने हिंदी फिल्मों के चरित्र, खलपात्र अभिनेता तेज सप्रू का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। 1955 में इसी दिन भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू के समकक्ष विश्व नेता हुए विस्टन चर्चिल ने ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

1963 संदीप त्रिवेदी का जन्म हुआ। संदीप जाने माने भारतीय सैद्धांतिक भौतिक विज्ञानी, मुंबई टाटा इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर फंडामेंटल रिसर्च के निदेशक हुए।

1964 भारतीय नौसेना ने पहली बार राष्ट्रीय समुद्री दिवस मनाया।

1967 प्रख्यात भारत-अमेरिकी लेखक और वक्ता अनु गर्ग का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी भारतीय फिल्म पाश्र्व गायिका, डांसर और स्टेज शो परफाॅरर्मर सुनीता राव का जन्म जर्मनी में हुआ।

1970 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम फिल्म, टेलीविजन एवं मंच कलाकार तथा माॅडल तेस्नी खान का जन्म कोच्चि में हुआ।

1971 श्रीलंका में तमिलों के संगठन जनता विमुक्ति पेरामुना ने सिरिमावो भंडारनायके की संयुक्त मोर्चा सरकार के खिलाफ विद्रोह शुरू किया।

1974 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय पर्वतारोही डिकी डोल्मा का जन्म कुल्लू, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ। डिकी 10 मई 1993 को 19 साल की उम्र में माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली सबसे कम उम्र की महिला होने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं।

1975 सउदी अरब के राजा फैजल की हत्या हुई।

1977 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम सिने तारिका, कोरियोग्राफर, नर्तकी, नृत्य विशेषज्ञ और शिक्षक मेथिल देविका का जन्म पलक्कड़ में हुआ।

1979 प्रथम भारतीय नौसेना संग्रहालय बंबई में खुला।

1983 मलयालम सिनेमा और टेलीविजन की लोकप्रिय कलाकार, माॅडल, अभिनेत्री ज्योतिर्मयी का जन्म कोट्टायम में हुआ।

1985 दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री और जानी मानी माॅडल पूनम बाजवा का जन्म हुआ।

1986 पश्चिम बर्लिन में ला बेले नाइट क्लब में बम विस्फोट हुआ, इसमें 3 लोग मारे गए। क्लब में अमेरिकी सैनिकों का आना-जाना था। लीबिया सीक्रेट सर्विस पर शक हुआ और बदले में अमेरिका ने लीबिया में 15 लोगों को मार गिराया।

1991 बाॅलवुड फिल्मों के जाने माने अभिनेता एवं निर्देश किंशुक वैद्य का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन अंतरिक्ष यान एसटीएस 37 (अटलांटिस 8) का प्रक्षेपण किया गया।

1992 साराजेवो में व्रबंजा ब्रिज पर शांति प्रदर्शनकारियों सुआदा दिलबेरोविक और ओल्गा सुसिक की हत्या कर दी गई।

1993 काफी अल्प समय में अपने शानदार अभिनय से बेहद मशहूर हुई बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री दिव्या भारती की वर्सोवा, मुंबई स्थित घर के पांचवें माले से रहस्यमय तरीके से गिरने से मौत हो गई।

1996 आज के दौर की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल रश्मिका मंदाना का जन्म विराजपेट, कर्नाटक में हुआ। रश्मिका मंदाना मुख्य रूप से दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों सर्वाधिक चर्चित, सफल अभ्निेत्री हैं उन्होंने 2016 की सबसे सफल व्यावसायिक फिल्म किरिक पार्टी में अभिनय कर सुर्खियां बटोरीं। बैंगलोर टाइम्स ने 30 मोस्ट डिजायरेबल वुमन ऑफ 2017 की सूची में नंबर 1 पर रखा।

1989 गुजराती भाषा के जाने माने साहित्यकार पन्नालाल पटेल का निधन हुआ।

1998 जापान में अकाशी कायक्यो ब्रिज पर ट्रैफिक शुरू हुआ। यह सबसे लंबा सस्पेंशन ब्रिज है, जिसकी लंबाई 1991 मीटर (6,532 फीट) है।

1999 मलेशिया में हेंड्रा नामक वायरस से बचाव के लिए 8 लाख 30 हजार सुअरों की सामूहिक हत्या करने की शुरुआत की गई। 1999 इसी दिन इराक ने पुरुष स्तंभक औषधि या गोली वियाग्रा पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की घोषणा की।

2000 बहुचर्चित फिल्म स्लमडाॅग मिलेनियर से बाल कलाकार के रूप में अपने अभिनय की शुरुआत कर पहचान अर्जित करने वाले एक्टर्स गिल्ड अवार्ड विजेता आयुष महेश खेडेकर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

2001 जासूसी विमान प्रकरण में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने घुटने टेके और चीन के समक्ष खेद प्रकट किया। इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की टीम युगोस्लाविया के नेता स्लोवोदान मिलोसेविच को गिरफ्तार करने के लिए बेलग्रेड पहुंची।

2002 भारत, म्यांमार व थाइलैंड के बीच मोरे-कलावा-मांडले सड़क परियोजना पूरी करने हेतु सहमति बनी।

2009 उत्तर कोरिया ने अपना विवादास्पद क्वांगम्यांगसोंग-2 रॉकेट लॉन्च किया। उपग्रह मुख्य भूमि जापान के ऊपर से गुजरा, जिस पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के साथ 6 देशों ने आपत्ति जताई। इसी दिन 2010 में पाकिस्तान के खैबर पख्तूनख्वा प्रांत में दो आतंकवादी आत्मघाती बम विस्फोटों और हमलों में 50 लोग मारे गए और अन्य 100 घायल हुए। पहला टाइमर गारा में अवामी नेशनल पार्टी की रैली पर और दूसरा पेशावर में अमेरिकी वाणिज्य दूतावास पर फटा। इसी दिन 2010 नक्सलियों द्वारा किए गए एक हमले में छत्तीसगढ के दंतेबाड़ा में सीआरपीएफ के 73 जवानों की मृत्यु हो गई। इसी दिन पंजाब एवं हरियाणा उच्च न्यायालय की तीन सदस्यीय पीठ ने विकलांगता पेंशन के दावों पर व्यवस्था देते हुए कहा कि सेना से जुड़े लोगों के अवकाश के दौरान यदि कोई दुर्घटना हो जाती है तो उसे ड्यूटी पर ही समझा जाए। 2010 में इसी दिन इंग्लैंड के गेंदबाज सर एलेक बेडसर का निधन हुआ। 2010 में इसी दिन अमेरिकी राज्य वेस्ट वर्जीनिया के कोयला खदान में हुए विस्फोट से 22 लोगों की मौत हुयी। इसी दिन 2010 को ईरान की राजधानी तेहरान में 17-18 अप्रैल को होने वाले दो दिवसीय परमाणु निरस्त्रीकरण सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के लिए 60 देशों को आमंत्रित किया गया।

2013 प्रसिद्ध इतालवी ऑपरेटिव टेनर और कॉम्प्रिमारियो अभिनेता पिएरो डी पाल्मा का निधन हुआ।

2014 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी उपन्यासकार, लघु कथाकार, संपादक, अंग्रेजी पत्रिका द पेरिस रिव्यू के सह-संस्थापक पीटर मैथिसेन का निधन हुआ।

2015 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल जूलिया विल्सन का निधन हुआ।

2016 विख्यात ग्रीक-तुर्की फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी और प्रबंधक कोको कासापोग्लु (योर्गो या कोस्टास कासापोग्लु) का निधन हुआ। अपने करियर के दौरान कोको कासापोग्लु को पेनल्टी क्रालि (अंग्रेजी में पेनल्टी किंग) का उपनाम भी दिया गया क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने करियर में ली गई 501 पेनल्टी में से 500 स्कोर किए और उन्हें तुर्की फुटबॉल इतिहास में सबसे अच्छा पेनल्टी लेने वाला माना जाता है।

2017 लोकसभा में फुटवियर डिजाइन और विकास संस्थान विधेयक पारित हुआ।
