886 वासी, इराक, अब्बासिद खलीफा राज में अबू मशर अल-बल्खी का 9 मार्च 886 को निधन हुआ। उनके बारे में माना जाता है कि वे प्रारंभिक फारसी मुस्लिम ज्योतिषी, बगदाद में अब्बासिद दरबार के सबसे बड़े ज्योतिषी थे और ज्योतिषियों को प्रशिक्षित करने के लिए उनके व्यावहारिक मैनुअल ने मुस्लिम बौद्धिक इतिहास और, अनुवाद के माध्यम से, पश्चिमी यूरोप और बीजान्टियम को गहराई से प्रभावित किया।

1500 पेड्रो अल्वारेस कैब्रल का सैन्य बेड़ा लिस्बन से इंडीज के लिए रवाना हुआ। बेड़े ने ब्राजील की खोज 1494 में टॉर्डेसिलस की संधि में पुर्तगाल को दी गई सीमाओं के भीतर स्थित है।

1564 प्रसिद्ध जर्मन धर्मशास्त्री, मानचित्रकार और खगोलशास्त्री डेविड फैब्रिकियस का जन्म हुआ।

1568 प्रतिष्ठित इतालवी संत अलॉयसियस गोंजागा का जन्म हुआ। गोंजागा विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना इन्हीं के नाम पर स्थापित किया। गोंजागा विश्वविद्यालय स्पोकेन, वाशिंगटन में एक निजी जेसुइट विश्वविद्यालय है। यह कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों पर नॉर्थवेस्ट कमीशन द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त है। 1887 में इटली में जन्मे पादरी और जेसुइट मिशनरी जोसेफ कैटाल्डो द्वारा स्थापित, विश्वविद्यालय का नाम युवा जेसुइट संत अलॉयसियस गोंजागा के नाम पर रखा गया है। परिसर में स्पोकेन नदी के किनारे 152 एकड़ (62 हेक्टेयर) घास के मैदान पर 105 इमारतें हैं, जो स्पोकेन शहर से आधा मील दूरी पर एक आवासीय सुविधा केंद्र भी है।

1967 सोवियत संघ (अब रूस) के नेता जोसेफ स्टालिन की बेटी स्वेतलाना लोसिफोन्वा अलीलुयेवा ने सोवियत संघ छोड़ दिया था। वे दिल्ली पहुंचीं। भारत उन्हें राजनीतिक शरण देने के पक्ष में नहीं था। स्वेतलाना दिल्ली में अमेरिका के दूतावास में ठहरीं और अमेरिका से राजनीतिक शरण मांगी। भारत से वो स्विट्जरलैंड और फिर अमेरिका चली गईं। 1953 में पिता की मौत के बाद स्वेतलाना के बारे में ज्यादा जानकारी नहीं थी। 1964 में उन्होंने भारतीय राजनयिक ब्रजेश सिंह से शादी की। ये स्वेतलाना की तीसरी शादी थी। 1970 में यहां उन्होंने विलियम पीटर्स नाम के आर्किटेक्ट से चौथी शादी कर अमेरिकी नागरिकता लेने के बाद स्वेतलाना ने नाम बदलकर लाना पीटर्स रख लिया था।

1994 प्रख्यात भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री देविका रानी का निधन हुआ। 30 मार्च 1908 को जन्मी देविका 1930 और 1940 के दशक की मशहूर फिल्म अभिनेत्री हुईं। इनका विवाह विख्यात रूसी चित्रकार स्वेतोस्लाव निकोलायविच रोएरिच से हुआ। 1994 में इसी दिन लॉस एंजिल्स, कैलिफोर्निया में हेनरी चार्ल्स बुकोव्स्की का निधन हुआ। (जन्म 16 अगस्त 1920, एंडर्नच, जर्मनी) बुकोव्स्की विख्यात अमेरिकी कवि, लघुकथा लेखक एवं उपन्यासकार थे। उनका लेखन उनके गोद लिए हुए गृह शहर लॉस एंजिल्स के सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक और आर्थिक माहौल से प्रभावित था। बुकोव्स्की का काम गरीब अमेरिकियों के सामान्य जीवन, लेखन कार्य, शराब, महिलाओं के साथ संबंध और काम की कठिनता को संबोधित करता है। एलए भूमिगत समाचार पत्र ओपन सिटी में उनके कॉलम नोट्स ऑफ ए डर्टी ओल्ड मैन के परिणामस्वरूप अमेरिकी सरकारी जासूसी एजेंसी एफबीआई ने बराबर उनकी गतिविधियों, लेखन को दर्ज किया। वे व्यक्ति की गरिमा, पूर्ण स्वतंत्रता के पक्षधर थे, उन्होंने कहा, मुझे कानून, नैतिकता, धर्म, नियम पसंद नहीं हैं। मुझे समाज द्वारा आकार दिया जाना पसंद नहीं है।

1996 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल कनिका तिवारी का जन्म भोपाल, मध्य प्रदेश में हुआ।

2012 बाॅलीवुड के 1960 और 1970 के दशक के मशहूर फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता और निर्देशक जॉय मुखर्जी का निधन हुआ। 2012 में इसी दिन साल्वाडोर की सरकार और सरकार विरोधी विद्रोहियोंके बीच एक संघर्ष विराम तब प्रभावी हुआ जब 30 विद्रोही नेताओं को कम सुरक्षा वाली जेलों में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया।

2015  दो यूरोकॉप्टर ।ै350 र्बिंनतमनपस हेलीकॉप्टर अर्जेंटीना के विला कैस्टेली के ऊपर हवा में टकरा गए, जिससे दोनों विमानों में सवार सभी 10 लोगों की मौत हो गई, जिनमें फ्रांसीसी एथलीट फ्लोरेंस आर्टहौड, केमिली मफत और एलेक्सिस वास्टीन, साथ ही फ्रांसीसी टीवी शो के निर्माता और मेहमान शामिल थे। गिरा दिया।

2022 मुंबई की एक सत्र अदालत ने बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री कंगना रनौत की वह याचिका 9 मार्च को खारिज कर दी, जिसमें उन्होंने मशहूर गीतकार जावेद अख्तर द्वारा अपने खिलाफ दर्ज मानहानि के मामले को स्थानांतरित करने की मांग की थी। कंगना ने अख्तर की शिकायत उपनगरीय अंधेरी की मजिस्ट्रेट अदालत से कहीं अन्यत्र स्थानांतरित करने की मांग की थी। अदालत ने अख्तर की शिकायत के जवाब में कंगना द्वारा अंधेरी कोर्ट में दर्ज शिकायत (काउंटर कंपलेंट) को भी वहां से स्थानांतरित करने से इन्कार कर दिया। द्वितीय अतिरिक्त प्रधान एवं सत्र न्यायाधीश (डिंडोशी) एसएस ओझा ने यह फैसला दिया। कंगना ने अपनी शिकायत में दावा किया है कि अंधेरी स्थित 10वीं मेट्रोपॉलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट अदालत उनके प्रति पक्षपाती और पूर्वाग्रह से ग्रसित है और इसी कारण उन्हें पेशी से स्थायी तौर पर छूट नहीं दी गयी है। अपने तमाम बयानों से विवादों में घिरी रही अभिनेत्री कंगना का कहना है कि उसे पेश न होने की स्थिति में गिरफ्तारी वारंट जारी करने की धमकी भी दी गयी है। पिछले वर्ष अक्तूबर में मुख्य मेट्रोपॉलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट ने उनकी स्थानांतरण अर्जी खारिज कर दी थी, इसलिए उन्होंने सत्र अदालत का दरवाजा खटखटाया था। जावेद अख्तर (76) ने अंधेरी मजिस्ट्रेट के समक्ष नवम्बर 2020 में एक शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि कंगना रनौत ने एक टेलीविजन साक्षात्कार में उनके खिलाफ अपमानजनक टिप्पणियां की थी जिससे उनकी प्रतिष्ठा को गहरा धक्का लगा है। इसके जवाब में कंगना ने भी धन ऐंठने और आपराधिक तौर पर डराने-धमकाने का आरोप लगाते हुए शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी।

2022 उच्चतम न्यायालय ने पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की हत्या के मामले में उम्रकैद की सजा काट रहे ए. जी. पेरारिवलन की जमानत 9 मार्च को मंजूर कर ली। जस्टिस एल. नागेश्वर राव और जस्टिस बी.आर. गवई की पीठ ने उन दलीलों का संज्ञान लिया, जिसमें कहा गया है कि दोषी पेरारिवलन 30 साल तक जेल में रहा है और उसका व्यवहार संतोषजनक रहा है, चाहे वह जेल के भीतर हो या पैरोल की अवधि के दौरान। सर्वोच्च अदालत 47-वर्षीय पेरारिवलन की उस याचिका पर सुनाई कर रही थी, जिसमें उसने एमडीएमए जांच पूरी होने तक उम्रकैद की सजा निलंबित करने का अनुरोध किया है। राजीव गांधी की हत्या 21 मई, 1991 को तमिलनाडु के श्रीपेरुम्बदुर में एक चुनावी रैली के दौरान महिला आत्मघाती विस्फोट के जरिये कर दी गयी थी। आत्मघाती महिला की पहचान धनु के रूप में की गयी थी। धनु सहित 14 अन्य लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। गांधी की हत्या देश में पहली ऐसी घटना थी जिसमें किसी शीर्षस्थ नेता की हत्या के लिए आत्मघाती बम का इस्तेमाल किया गया था। न्यायालय ने मई 1999 के आदेश में चारों दोषियों - पेरारिवलन, मुरुगन, संथन और नलिनी- को मौत की सजा बरकरार रखी थी। शीर्ष अदालत ने 18 फरवरी 2014 को पेरारिवलन, संथन और मुरुगन के मृत्युदंड को कम करके उम्रकैद में तब्दील कर दी थी। न्यायालय ने केंद्र सरकार द्वारा उनकी दया याचिकाओं के निपटारे में 11 साल की देरी के आधार पर फांसी की सजा को उम्रकैद में बदलने का निर्णय लिया था। मालूम हो कि स्व. राजीव गांधी के परिवार ने दोषियों को फांसी दिए जाने पर कभी जोर नहीं दिया।

2023 इन्फोर्समेंट डायरेक्टोरेट ईडी यानी प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने तेजस्वी यादव के न्यू फ्रेंड्स कॉलोनी आवास पर छापेमारी की, जहां वह अपनी पत्नी राजश्री के साथ रहते हैं, जो गर्भवती हैं। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने मोदी सरकार पर विपक्षी नेताओं के खिलाफ केंद्रीय जांच एजेंसियों का दुरुपयोग करके लोकतंत्र की हत्या करने का आरोप लगाया है। खड़गे ने ट्वीट कर कहा, मोदी सरकार, विपक्षी नेताओं पर ईडी-सीबीआई का दुरुपयोग कर लोकतंत्र की हत्या का कुत्सित प्रयास कर रही है। खड़गे ने कहा, जब देश से भगोड़े करोड़ों लेकर भागे तब मोदी सरकार की एजेंसियां कहां थीं? जब परम मित्र की संपत्ति आसमान छूती है तो जांच क्यों नहीं होती? इस तानाशाही का जनता मुंहतोड़ जवाब देगी। मालूम हो कि इसी सप्ताह 6 मार्च को को पटना में सीबीआई की टीम ने राबड़ी देवी से पांच घंटे और 7 मार्च को राष्ट्रीय जनता दल सुप्रीमो लालू प्रसाद यादव से भी दिल्ली में करीब 3 घंटे तक पूछताछ की थी। 2023 में इसी दिन जर्मनी के हैंबर्ग के एल्स्टरडोर्फ क्वार्टर में गोलीबारी में आठ लोगों की मौत हो गई और अन्य आठ घायल हो गए।
