537 तुर्की के प्रमुख वाणिज्यिक नगर इस्तांबुल में वर्ष 2020 में जिस इमारत को राष्ट्रपति रिचैप तय्यप एर्दोआन ने हागिया सोफिया मस्जिद के रूप में तब्दील करवा दिया, उसे मूल रूप से एक चर्च के तौर पर 537 में बनाया गया इतिहास में उल्लेखित है। आॅटोमन साम्राज्य के दौरान रोमन सम्राट जस्टिनियन के शासन के दौरान यह यूनानी आॅर्थोडाॅक्स चर्च द्वारा निर्मित कैथेड्रल है। यह पुराने कॉन्सटांटिनोपल के फातिह में है। 1453 में भी इसे मस्जिद में बदला गया था लेकिन फिर 1935 में एक संग्रहालय में बदल दिया गया था।

683 चीनी तांग राजवंश के संस्थापक सम्राट तांग के गाओजोंग (व्यक्तिगत नाम ली झी) का निधन हुआ।

1571 जर्मनी के गणितज्ञ और खगोलशास्त्री यूहान केपलर का जन्म हुआ।

1572 विख्यात चेक कवि, नाटककार और संगीतकार जोहान्स वोडनियानस कैम्पैनस का जन्म हुआ।

1797 आगरा में उर्दू-फारसी के शीर्ष शायर मिर्जा गालिब यानी मिर्जा बेग असदुल्ला खां का जन्म हुआ। उनके बारे में शेर है, यूं तो हैं दुनिया में सुखनवर बहुत अच्छे, कहते हैं कि गालिब का है अंदाज-ए-बयां और। 

1822 फ्रांस के चिकित्सक और रसायनशास्त्री लुईस पास्चर का जन्म हुआ। लुई पास्चर रसायनशास्त्र के वैज्ञानिक और सूक्ष्म-जैवविज्ञानी थे जो टीकाकरण, किण्वन और पास्चुरीकरण के सिद्धान्तों की अपनी खोजों के लिए प्रसिद्ध हुए। रसायन विज्ञान में उनके शोध ने रोगों के कारणों और निवारण की समझ में उल्लेखनीय सफलता प्राप्त की, जिन्होंने स्वच्छता, जनस्वास्थ्य और आधुनिक चिकित्सा की नींव रखी।

1825 स्टीम इंजन वाले पहले पब्लिक रेलवे पथ का निर्माण इंग्लैंड के स्टॉकटन और डार्लिंगटन के बीच पूरा हुआ।

1827 विख्यात पोलिश राजनीतिज्ञ, लेखक, इतिहासकार और ऑस्ट्रिया की इंपीरियल काउंसिल के सदस्य स्टैनिस्लाव मिएरोस्जेव्स्की का जन्म पोलेंड में हुआ।

1831 विख्यात मानव विज्ञानी चार्ल्स डार्विन ने जहाज एचएमएस बीगल से अपनी यात्रा शुरू की इस दौरान उन्होंने विकास के अपने सिद्धांत को तैयार करना शुरू किया।

1845 जेफरसन, जॉर्जिया में डॉ. क्रॉफर्ड लॉन्ग ने पहली बार बच्चे के जन्म के लिए ईथर एनेस्थेटिक का उपयोग किया।

1846 त्रावणकोर, केरल के महाराजा तथा दक्षिण भारतीय कर्नाटक संगीत परंपरा के सर्वोत्कृष्ट संगीतज्ञों में से एक स्वाति तिरुनल का निधन हुआ।

1861 कलकत्ता में पहली बार चाय की सार्वजनिक बोली संपन्न हुई।

1895 पंजाब के प्रमुख सिख कार्यकर्ता उज्जवल सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1898 स्वतंत्रता के बाद पहली निर्वाचित सरकार में कृषि मंत्री हुए किसान नेता पंजाबराव देशमुख का जन्म अमरावती महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

1901 बर्लिन, जर्मनी में मैरी मैग्डलीन मार्लेन डिट्रिच का जन्म हुआ जो लोकप्रिय जर्मन और अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री तथा गायिका थीं जिनका फिल्मी करियर 1910 से शुरु हो कर 1980 तक चला।

1911 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के कलकत्ता अधिवेशन के दौरान पहली बार जन गण मन गाया गया। यह बाद में भारत का राष्ट्रगान बना। गुरुदेव रविंद्रनाथ ठाकुर ने इसे लिखा था।

1919 जाने माने भारतीय इतिहासकार, खोजी, पांडुलिपि संग्रहकर्ता, केरल गणित संप्रदाय एवं ज्योतिष पर विशेष शोधकर्ता और लेखक केवी वेंकटेश्वर शर्मा का जन्म चेंगानूर में हुआ।

1923 टोक्यो में जापान के युवराज एक हत्या के प्रयास में सुरक्षित बच गए। फ्रांसीसी इंजीनियर और आर्किटेक्ट गुस्ताव एफिल का 1923 में निधन हुआ। गुस्ताव ने ही विश्व प्रसिद्ध एफिल टावर का डिजाइन बनाया।

1927 उत्तर प्रदेश विधान सभा के अध्यक्ष रहे और उत्तराखंड के पहले मुख्यमंत्री नित्यानंद स्वामी का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध, अमेरिकी बेसबॉल खिलाड़ी, प्रसूति एवं स्त्री रोग विशेषज्ञ ऑड्रे वैगनर का जन्म हुआ।

1934 पर्सिया के शाह ने पर्सिया का नाम बदलकर ईरान करने की घोषणा की।

1939 तुर्की में आये भूकंप से लगभग चालीस हजार लोगों की मौत हुई।

1945 भारत के जाने माने शास्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ क्लारेंस बारलोव का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ। इसी दिन वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूती प्रदान करने के लिए विश्व बैंक की स्थापना की गई। 1945 में इसी दिन द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की समाप्ति के पश्चात मास्को के एतिहासिक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए। जिसके आधार पर कोरिया प्रायद्वीप जो एक देश समझा जाता था दो भागों में विभाजित हो गया। इसी दिन 1945 में उन्तीस देशों ने मिलकर अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष की स्थापना की। इस संस्था का उद्देश्य विदेशी मुद्रा के मूल्यों को स्थिर रखना, वाणिज्य विकास और प्रगति को सुचारू बनाना आदि है।

1949 नीदरलैंड ने आधिकारिक रूप से इंडोनेशिया की स्वतंत्रता को स्वीकार किया।

1950 विख्यात भारतीय सांख्यिकी भौतिक विज्ञानी पद्मश्री मुस्तांसिर बरमा का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1960 फ्रांस ने अफ्रीका के सहारा रेगिस्तान में तीसरा परमाणु परीक्षण किया

1961 बेल्जियम और कांगो के बीच राजनयिक संबंध बहाल हुए।

1965 प्रख्यात बॉलीवुड अभिनेता और प्रमुख फिल्म, टेलीविजन, रियलिटी शो, मनोरंजन कारोबारी सलमान खान का इंदौर में जन्म हुआ। यह जाने माने अभिनेता सलीम खान के बेटे हैं।

1966 दुनिया की सबसे लंबी गुफा केव आॅफ स्वैलोज की खोज एक्विसमोन, मैक्सिको में की गई।

1968 चंद्रमा की परिक्रमा करने वाला पहला मानव मिशन अपोलो-8 प्रशांत महासागर में उतरा।

1970 पाकिस्तान में प्रमुख भारतीय अंग्रेजी अखबार द हिंदू की संवाददाता रहीं पत्रकार, हिंदी अंग्रेजी फिल्म वाॅयस आर्टिस्ट, स्वतंत्र पत्रकार, लेखिका मीना मेनन का जन्म हुआ।

1972 उत्तरी कोरिया में नया संविधान प्रभाव में आया। इसी दिन विख्यात कनाडाई इतिहासकार, राजनीतिज्ञ और कनाडा के 14वें प्रधानमंत्री हुए नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता लेस्टर बी. पियर्सन का निधन हुआ।

1973 जाने माने भारतीय अमेरिकी गणितज्ञ और गणित के प्रोफेसर कन्नन सौंदर्यराजन का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ। 

1975 झारखंड के धनबाद जिले स्थित चासनाला में हुई कोयला खदान दुर्घटना में 372 लोग मारे गये।

1978 राष्ट्रीय लोक दल आरएलडी के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष जयंत चौधरी का डलास, टेक्सास, अमेरिका में जन्म हुआ। जयंत पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री स्व. चौ. चरण सिंह के पोते और पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री स्व. अजीत सिंह के पुत्र हैं।

1979 अफगानिस्तान ने राजनीतिक परिवर्तन एवं हफीजुल्लाह अमीन की सैनिक क्रांति में हत्या हुई। सोवियत संघ के संरक्षण में विरोधी गुट सत्ता पर काबिज हुआ।

1983 पोप जॉन पॉल द्वितीय ने रेबिबिया की जेल में मेहमत अली अस्का से मुलाकात की और 1981 में सेंट पीटर स्क्वायर में उन पर हुए हमले के लिए उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रूप से माफ कर दिया।

1985 असम में जन्मी पांची बोरा खूबसूरत, बोल्ड और टेलीविजन की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल हैं। उन्होंने कयामत और कितनी मस्त है जिंदगी धारावाहिकों सहित कई फिल्मों में भी काम किया है। इसी दिन 1985 में यूरोप के विएना और रोम हवाई अड्डों पर चरमपंथियों के हमले में 16 लोग मारे गए और सौ से ज्यादा घायल हुए।

1988 जाने माने भारतीय संगीतकार जेसिन जाॅर्ज का जन्म कोच्चि में हुआ।

1991 मिस एशिया पेसिफिक, माॅडल और अभिनेत्री आकांक्षा धीमान का जन्म शिमला में हुआ।

1996 जाने माने निशानेबाज कुंवर दिव्य प्रताप सिंह का जन्म देहरादून में हुआ।

2000 आस्ट्रेलिया में विवाह पूर्व यौन संबंधों को कानूनी मान्यता दी गई।

2001 भारत-पाक युद्ध रोकने के लिए संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका व रूस सक्रिय हुए। इसी दिन चरमपंथी संगठन लश्कर-ए-तोएबा ने अब्दुल वाहिद कश्मीरी को अपना नया प्रमुख नियुक्त किया। 2001 में इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने पाक आतंकवादी संगठन उम्मा-ए-तामीर ए बो के खाते सील करने के आदेश दिये।

2002 ईव नाम के पहले मानव क्लोन ने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में जन्म लिया।

2004 भारत ने तीसरे और अन्तिम वनडे में बांग्लादेश को हराकर श्रंखला 2-1 से जीती।

2007 पाकिस्तान की पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री बेनजीर भुट्टो की हत्या कर दी गई जब वह पाकिस्तान के रावलपिंडी के लियाकत नेशनल बाग में पाकिस्तान पीपल्स पार्टी समर्थकों की राजनीतिक रैली को संबोधित कर लौट रही थीं। इसी दिन मवाई किबाकी को राष्ट्रपति चुनाव विजेता घोषित किए जाने के बाद केन्या के मोम्बासा में दंगे भड़क उठे, इस कारण बड़ा राजनीतिक, आर्थिक और मानवीय संकट पैदा हुआ।

2008 वी. शान्ताराम पुरस्कार समारोह में आमिर खान की तारे जमीं पर फिल्म को सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म का पुरस्कार मिला।

2012 पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री बेनजीर भुट्टो के पुत्र बिलावल भुट्टो जरदारी ने अपने प्रथम राजनीतिक वक्तव्य में, अपनी मां की मृत्यु की पांचवीं सालगिरह पर पाकिस्तान में लोकतंत्र को बनाए रखने और उग्रवाद से लड़ने का संकल्प दोहराया।

2013 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अभिनेता, परोपकारी और एक लोकप्रिय टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता फारूक शेख का निधन हुआ।

2015 प्रसिद्ध अंग्रेजी-ऑस्ट्रेलियाई गायिका-गीत लेखिका स्टीवी राइट का निधन हुआ।

2016 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री, पटकथा लेखक, लेखक, निर्माता और वक्ता कैरी फिशर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन रत्नासिरी विक्रमनायके, श्रीलंकाई राजनीतिज्ञ का निधन हुआ।

2018 विख्यात पोलिश प्रतिरोध सेनानी फ्रैंक ब्लैचमैन का निधन हुआ।

2019 बेक एयर फ्लाइट 2100 कजाकिस्तान के अल्माटी में अल्माटी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे से उड़ान भरने के दौरान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गई, जिसमें 13 लोगों की मौत हो गई। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकन लीग ऑफ लीजेंड्स खिलाड़ी मारिया क्रेवलिंग का निधन हुआ।

2020 एक प्रस्ताव संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने 7 दिसंबर 2020 को 27 दिसंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महामारी तैयारी दिवस के रूप में नामित किया। इसलिए कि महामारी की किसी भी संभावना के मद्देनजर, सरकारें, चिकित्सा-स्वास्थ्य केंद्र, संस्थाएं और नागरिक हमेशा जागरूक और सतर्क रहें, पर्याप्त तैयारियां रखें।

537 The building which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan converted into the Hagia Sophia Mosque in the year 2020 in Istanbul, Turkey's main commercial city, is mentioned in history as originally built as a church in 537. It is a cathedral built by the Greek Orthodox Church during the rule of Roman Emperor Justinian during the Ottoman Empire. It is in Fatih in old Constantinople. It was also converted into a mosque in 1453 but was then converted into a museum in 1935.

683 Emperor Gaozong of Tang (personal name Li Zhi), founder of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, dies.

1571 German mathematician and astronomer Johann Kepler was born.

1572 Johannes Vodnianus Campanus, famous Czech poet, playwright and composer, was born.

1797 The top Urdu-Persian poet Mirza Ghalib i.e. Mirza Beg Asadullah Khan was born in Agra. There is a couplet about him, Sukhnavar is very good in the world, it is said that Ghalib's style of speech is different.

2020 A resolution by the United Nations designated 27 December as International Epidemic Preparedness Day on 7 December 2020. So that in view of any possibility of an epidemic, governments, medical-health centers, institutions and citizens should always be aware and alert and keep adequate preparations.
