3761 ईसापूर्व हिब्रू कैलेंडर यानी यहूदी कैलेंडर की शुरुआत हुई। हिब्रू कैलेंडर चंद्र-सौर कैलेंडर है जिसका उपयोग यहूदी धार्मिक अनुष्ठान और इजराइल के आधिकारिक कैलेंडर के रूप में किया जाता है। यह यहूदी छुट्टियों की तारीखें और कई औपचारिक उपयोगों के बीच टोरा भागों, याहरजेइट्स (किसी रिश्तेदार की मृत्यु का शोक मनाने की तारीखें), और दैनिक भजन पढ़ने की उचित सार्वजनिक पढ़ाई निर्धारित करता है। इजराइल में, इसका उपयोग धार्मिक उद्देश्यों के लिए किया जाता है, कृषि के लिए एक समय सीमा प्रदान करता है, और ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर के साथ-साथ नागरिक छुट्टियों के लिए एक आधिकारिक कैलेंडर है।

14 ईसा पूर्व 7 अक्टूबर को रोम, इटली में ड्रूसस जूलियस सीजर का जन्म हुआ। ड्रूसस जूलियस सीजर का जन्म रोम में कबीले क्लाउडिया की एक प्रमुख शाखा में हुआ था, जो रोमन सम्राट सम्राट टिबेरियस और उसकी पहली पत्नी विप्सानिया एग्रीपिना का पुत्र था। बाल्यकाल में 19 ईस्वी में रोमन सम्राट बना।

1200 इंग्लैंड के राजा जॉन से विवाह करने के 2 सप्ताह पश्चात इसाबेला को महारानी घोषित किया गया।

1403 -वेनिस-जेनोइस युद्ध में फ्रांसीसी एडमिरल के नेतृत्व में जेनोइस बेड़े को मोदोन की लड़ाई में वेनिस बेड़े ने हरा दिया।

1477 फरवरी 1477 में पोप सिक्सटास चतुर्थ से पुर्तगाल में अधिकार प्राप्त करने के बाद उप्साला विश्वविद्यालय का उद्घाटन 7 अक्टूबर 1477 को किया गया। उप्साला विश्वविद्यालय उप्साला, स्वीडन में एक सार्वजनिक अनुसंधान विश्वविद्यालय है। यह स्वीडन और नॉर्डिक देश का सबसे पुराना विश्वविद्यालय है। 16वीं सदी के अंत में स्वीडन की एक महान शक्ति के रूप में उदय के दौरान विश्वविद्यालय का महत्वपूर्ण विकास हुआ और फिर 17वीं सदी की शुरुआत में राजा गुस्तावस एडॉल्फस ने एक बड़े दान के साथ इसकी सापेक्ष वित्तीय स्थिरता विकसित की। उपसाला विवि का स्वीडिश राष्ट्रीय संस्कृति, इतिहासलेखन, साहित्य, राजनीति और संगीत में भी एक महत्वपूर्ण ऐतिहासिक स्थान है। यह लुंड विश्वविद्यालय और हेलसिंकी विश्वविद्यालय के साथ कुछ विशिष्ट छात्रों को साझा करता है। उप्साला यूरोपीय फर्मों के कोयंबरा समूह और यूरोपीय अनुसंधान-गहन फर्मों के गिल्ड से संबंधित है। कई अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रैंकिंग में इसे दुनिया के 100 सर्वश्रेष्ठ फर्मों में स्थान दिया गया है।

1542 स्पेन के प्रसिद्ध खोजी, यात्री और नाविक जुआन रोड्रिगेज कैब्रिलो अमेरिका के कैलिफोर्निया के तट के पास सांता कैटालिना द्वीप पर पैर रखने वाले पहले यूरोपीय बने।

1571 यूरोपियन संयुक्त शक्तियों यानी पश्चिमी ईसाई गठबंधन की सेना को आॅटोमन साम्राज्य की सेना ने बुरी तरह परास्त किया।

1586 मुगल बादशाह अकबर यानी अबुल फतह जलालुद्दी मोहम्मद अकबर की सेना कश्मीर में दाखिल हुई।

1708 सिक्खों के दसवें गुरु गोविंद सिंह का निधन हुआ.

1714 नीदरलैंड के अल्कमार में बीयर पर टैक्स लगने के कारण लोग भड़क गये। उन्होंने तोड़-फोड़ की और दंगा हो गया। इसमें कई लोग मारे गये।

1737 बंगाल में हजारों छोटे जहाजों के समुद्र में 40 फुट नीचे डूबने से तीन लाख लोगों की मौत हुई।

1780 अमेरिकी मिलिशिया यानी जन सेना ने ब्रिटिश सेना को किंग्स माउंटेन, दक्षिण कैरोलिना के पास हराया।

1840 विलेम द्वितीय नीदरलैंड के राजा बने।

1849 विख्यात अमेरिकी लेखक एडगर एलन पो बेहोशी की हालत में बाल्टीमोर, मैरीलैंड की सड़क पर पाए गये और 4 दिन बाद वाशिंगटन मेडिकल कॉलेज में उनकी मौत हो गई।

1868 अमेरिका में कॉर्नेल विश्वविद्यालय खुला. इसमें 412 विद्यार्थियों का नामांकन हुआ था जो उस समय की सबसे बड़ी संख्या थी।

1886 स्पेन से क्यूबा स्वतंत्रत हुआ।

1891 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा महात्मा गांधी के सहयोगी नरहरि पारिख का जन्म हुआ।

1907 स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में क्रांतिकारियों की प्रमुख सहयोगी दुर्गा भाभी का जन्म हुआ।

1914 प्रसिद्ध गजल और ठुमरी गायिका बेगम अख्तर का जन्म हुआ। उन्हें मल्लिका-ए-गजल कहा गया। बहुतों ने उन्हें गजल गायिकी की क्लियोपेट्रा भी कहा।

1916 सिडनी के तारोंगा शहर में एक चिड़ियाघर बनाया गया, जिसमें जानवरों के लिए कोई पिंजरा नहीं था। इसी दिन जॉर्जिया टेक ने अमेरिकी इतिहास के सबसे एकतरफा कॉलेज फुटबॉल खेल में कंबरलैंड यूनिवर्सिटी को 222-0 से हराया।

1919 महात्मा गांधी की नवजीवन पत्रिका प्रकाशित हुई।

1922 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं आजाद भारत में लोकसभा अध्यक्ष रहे बली राम भगत का जन्म हुआ।

1924 प्रतिष्ठित हिंदी कवि एवं आलोचक विजयदेव नारायण साही का जन्म हुआ।

1933 फ्रांस की 5 विमानन कंपनियों का विलय कर एयर फ्रांस कंपनी का गठन किया गया।

1937 महिलाओं के लिए पहली पत्रिका द अमेरिकन का प्रकाशन हुआ।

1941 जानी मानी भारतीय फिल्म संगीतज्ञ ऊषा खन्ना का जन्म ग्वालियर में हुआ।

1942 अमेरिका और ब्रिटिश सरकार ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र की स्थापना की घोषणा की।

1944 एडोल्फ हिटलर शासित जर्मनी में सोंडर कामांडो के सदस्य-ऑशविट्ज यहूदी संहार ग्रह में काम करते थे, खुद की हत्या किये जाने की आशंका के बाद उन्होंने विद्रोह किया और करीब 70 लोग मार दिए। 

1949 पूर्वी जर्मनी लोकतांत्रिक सरकार के अस्तित्व में आने के साथ एक अलग देश बना।

1950 इसाई मिशनरी मदर टेरेसा को वेटिकन से कलकत्ता में मिशनरीज ऑफ चैरिटी की स्थापना करने की इजाजत मिली।

1952 चंडीगढ़ को पंजाब की राजधानी बनाया गया।

1957 जाने माने भारतीय - अमेरिकन बिजनेस एक्जीक्यूटिव, इंजीनियर, लेखक, वक्ता तथा फिलांथ्रोपिस्ट विवेक यशवंत रणदिवे का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1959 सोवियत स्पेसक्राफ्ट लूना 3 ने पहली बार चांद के दूर वाले हिस्से के फोटो लिए 7 अक्टूबर 1959 को। इनकी मदद से ही अंतरिक्ष विशेषज्ञ चांद के अंधेरे वाले हिस्से का एटलस बना पाए। चांद की यह यह तस्वीरें उन हिस्सों की हैं, जो पृथ्वी से नहीं दिखते। चांद का गतिविधि कुछ इस तरह का है कि अलग-अलग समय में भी पृथ्वी से सिर्फ 59 प्रतिशत हिस्सा ही दिखता है।

1961 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रांतिकारी केदारेश्वर सेन गुप्ता का निधन हुआ।

1966 जानी-मानी फिल्म और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, दूरदर्शन में प्रस्तोता रेणुका शहाणे का हुआ। चेन्नई की वेल्स यूनिवर्सिटी के संस्थापक डाॅ. ईशरी के गणेश का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1971 केरल के प्रमुख राष्ट्रवादी नेता, स्वतन्त्रता सेनानी और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता के. केलप्पन का निधन हुआ।

1976 जाने माने हिंदी एवं मराठी फिल्म तथा टेलीविजन अभिनेता और माॅडल शरद केलकर का जन्म ग्वालियर, मध्य प्रदेश में हुआ।

1977 युक्ता मुखी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध भारतीय सुंदरी, मिस वर्ल्ड 1999, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल युक्ता एंड्रियल मुखी का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ। इसी दिन बाॅलीवुड फिल्म संगीतकारों की प्रसिद्ध जोड़ी साजिद-वाजिद में से एक वाजिद खान का जन्म हुआ।

1978 प्रसि भारतीय क्रिकेटर जहीर खान का जन्म हुआ।

1981 इंडियन आइडल के प्रथम विजेता, प्रसिद्ध गायक, अभिनेता एवं टेलविजन एंकर, माॅडल अभिजीत सावंत का जन्म हुआ। मलयालम फिल्मी गीत गायिका और गायत्री वीणा वादिका वैकोम विजयलक्ष्मी का जन्म वैकोम, केरल में हुआ।

1983 हिंदी, तमिल, तेलुगू, कन्नड़ आदि भाषाओं की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल पूजा गांधी का जन्म हुआ।

1986 ह्यूस्टन, टेक्सास में प्रसिद्ध पोर्न, अश्लील फिल्म अभिनेत्री रेचेल मैरी ओबेरलिन का जन्म हुआ। पेशेवर रूप से ब्री ओल्सन के नाम से जाना जाता है। ओल्सन अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री, मॉडल और पूर्व अश्लील अभिनेत्री हैं। उन्होंने 2006 से 2011 तक 460 से अधिक अश्लील, पोर्न फिल्मों में अभिनय किया।

1987 सिख चरमपंथियों ने भारत से अलग देश खालिस्तान की स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की। इसके प्रधानमंत्री ब्रिटेन में जगजीत सिंह चौहान, अमेरिका में राष्ट्रपति गंगा सिंह ढिल्लों, भारत में प्रमुख जरनैल सिंह भिंडरावाले सहित सिमरनजीत सिंह मान आदि तमाम थे। खालिस्तानी सिखों ने हजारों की संख्या में बम विस्फोटों, गोलीबारी कर अफसरों, कर्मचारी, आम जनता और प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी की हत्या की। खालिस्तान के क्षेत्र में पूरा पंजाब, पाकिस्तान में लाहौर तक का पंजाब, भारत में कुछ हिस्सा हिमाचल, उत्तराखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश, हरियाणा और चंडीगढ़ का था।

1991 जानी-मानी माॅडल, अभिनेत्री और यूनाइटेड कंटीनेंट्स पीजेंट 2016 अवार्ड प्राप्त सुंदरी लोपामुद्रा राउत का जन्म नागपुर में हुआ।

1992 भारत में रैपिड एक्शन फोर्स की स्थापना की गई। इसका गठन सांप्रदायिक दंगों से सहानुभूति के साथ निपटने के लिए एक विशेषज्ञ बल के तौर पर हुआ। लेकिन यह भी सामान्यतया पुलिस और पीएसी की तरह ही काम करता है।

1997 नेपाल में सूर्य बहादुर थापा ने नये प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण की और भारत तथा रूस के बीच सुरक्षा सहयोग 2010 तक बढ़ाने के लिए सहमति बनी।

1998 व्योमिंग विश्वविद्यालय के एक समलैंगिक छात्र मैथ्यू शेपर्ड को लारमी, व्योमिंग में दो युवा वयस्कों बेरहमी से पीटकर बाड़ से बांध दिया, पांच दिन बाद उसकी मृत्यु हो गई, इससे एक बड़ा विरोध प्रदर्शन शुरु हो गया।

2000 वैश्विक संस्था वल्र्ड वाइड फंड फाॅर नेचर इंडिया को प्रथम राजीव गांधी वन्यजीव संरक्षण पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया। इसी दिन 2000 में जापान में मानव क्लोनिंग दंडनीय अपराध घोषित किया गया। मानव क्लोनिंग मतलब, किसी व्यक्ति के हमशक्ल दूसरे इंसान का निर्माण।

2001 आतंकवाद के विरुद्ध अमेरिका का अफगानिस्तान में ऑपरेशन एड्योरिंग फ्रीडम शुरू हुआ। अमेरिकी और ब्रिटिश सेनाओं ने 7 अक्टूबर 2001 को अफगानिस्तान में अल-कायदा और तालिबान ठिकानों को निशाना बना हवाई हमले किये। ये हमले अमेरिकी अभियान ग्लोबल वॉर ऑन टेरर का हिस्सा थे।

2003 राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ ने पाकिस्तान में कट्टरपंथियों के विरुद्ध अभियान जारी रखने की घोषणा की।

2004 जर्मनी ने सुरक्षा परिषद में भारत की दावेदारी का समर्थन किया।

2005 अमेरिकी अभिनेता और हास्य अभिनेता चार्ल्स रॉकेट का निधन हुआ।

2006 रूस की जानी मानी पत्रकार और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता एना पोलितकोवस्काया की सेंट्रल मास्को में उनके अपार्टमेंट ब्लॉक के लिफ्ट में हत्या कर दी गई।

2008 टाटा के चेयरमैन रतन टाटा ने कहा कि नैनो प्रोजेक्ट के लिए कंपनी ने गुजरात में 1,100 एकड़ जमीन हासिल कर ली है। 2008 में इसी दिन क्षुद्रग्रह 2008 ज्ब्3 सूडान के ऊपर पृथ्वी से टकराया, पहली बार पृथ्वी के वायुमंडल में प्रवेश से पहले किसी क्षुद्रग्रह के प्रभाव का पता चला। 2008 में इसी दिन क्वांटास फ्लाइट 72 में लियरमोथ, विक्टोरिया, ऑस्ट्रेलिया के पास उड़ान के दौरान गड़बड़ी हुई, जिसमें 112 लोग घायल हो गए।

2009 भारतीय मूल के वेंकटरमन रामाकृष्णन, याले प्रोफेसर थॉमस स्टेट्ज और इजराइली अदा योनाथ को रसायन का विश्व प्रतिष्ठित नोबेल पुस्कार देने की घोषणा हुई।

2011 लाइबेरियाई राष्ट्रपति एलेन जानसन सरलीफ, महिला अधिकार कार्यकर्ता लीमेह जीबोई तथा यमन की तवाकुल करमान को शांति के क्षेत्र में नोबेल पुरस्कार देने की घोषणा की गई।

2012 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी-ऑस्ट्रेलियाई गायक-गीतकार और पियानोवादक विली रीड का निधन हुआ।

2013 प्रसिद्ध फ्रांसीसी अभिनेता, निर्देशक, निर्माता और पटकथा लेखक पैट्रिस चेरेउ का निधन हुआ।

2014 नीली रोशनी उत्सर्जक डायोड बनाने पर जापान के हिरोशी अमानो, इसामु अकासाकी और शुजी नाकामुरा को भौतिकी का 2014 का नोबेल पुरस्कार प्रदान किये जाने की घोषणा की गई। इसी दिन सिगफ्राइड लेन्ज, पोलिश-जर्मन लेखक और नाटककार, इसी दिन 2014 में इवा विदर्स, कनाडाई-अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री और गायिका का निधन हुआ।

2015 हैरी गैलाटिन, अमेरिकी बास्केटबॉल खिलाड़ी और कोच, हुसैन हमदानी, ईरानी जनरल एवं जुरेलंग जेडकिया, मार्शल राजनेता, मार्शल द्वीप समूह के 5वें राष्ट्रपति का निधन हुआ।

2016 हैती में आए जबरदस्त तूफान मैथ्यू से 800 से अधिक लोगों की मौत हो गई और इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध ऑस्ट्रेलियाई अभिनेता, हास्य अभिनेता रॉस हिगिंस का निधन हुआ।

2019 विश्व कपास दिवस की पहल 2019 में शुरू हुई, जब उप-सहारा अफ्रीका में चार कपास उत्पादकों- बेनिन, बुर्किना फासो, चाड और माली, जिन्हें कॉटन फोर के नाम से जाना जाता है, ने विश्व व्यापार संगठन को 7 अक्टूबर को विश्व कपास दिवस मनाने का प्रस्ताव दिया। यह दिवस कपास के महत्व के प्रति जागरूकता, कपास से जुड़े रोजगार, खेती, विपणन और व्यापार साथ ही इसके उत्पादों के अधिकाधिक उपयोग के लिए सहयोग, समर्थन, समन्वय का काम करता है।

2021 असम के दरांग जिले में 23 सितंबर को हुई बेदखली संबंधी पुलिस हिंसा, जिसमें दो लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और 20 अन्य घायल हो गए थे, का जिक्र करते हुए गुवाहाटी हाईकोर्ट ने इस घटना को एक बड़ी त्रासदी और बहुत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण करार दिया और निर्देश दिया कि राज्य सरकार इस मामले में विस्तृत हलफनामा दाखिल करे। असम विधानसभा में विपक्ष के नेता देवव्रत सैकिया द्वारा दायर एक जनहित याचिका और निष्कासन अभियान और उसके बाद की हिंसा के संबंध में एक स्वतः संज्ञान याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए, मुख्य न्यायाधीश सुधांशु धूलिया और न्यायमूर्ति सौमित्र साकिया की उच्च न्यायालय की खंडपीठ ने कहा, यह एक बड़ी त्रासदी है, बहुत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है। जो दोषी हैं, उन्हें सजा मिलनी ही चाहिए, तो इसमें कोई शक नहीं है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने टिप्पणी करते हुए कहा, खून जमीं पर गिर गया। याचिका में कृषि फार्म और वन परियोजनाओं की स्थापना के लिए लगभग 75,000 बीघा भूमि को खाली करने के प्रस्ताव को लागू करने के कैबिनेट के फैसले को भी चुनौती दी गई है। हाईकोर्ट इस मामले में 3 नवंबर को फिर से सुनवाई करेगा। उच्च न्यायालय के कदम का स्वागत करते हुए, असम कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष भूपेन कुमार बोरा ने कहा कि अदालत के अवलोकन ने बेदखली अभियान पर उनकी पार्टी के रुख को सही ठहराया। बोरा ने एक बयान में कहा, 40 से अधिक सशस्त्र पुलिस कर्मियों द्वारा एक अकेले प्रदर्शनकारी पर गोलीबारी की घटना और मृत प्रदर्शनकारी पर सरकार से संबद्ध कैमरापर्सन की बाद की हिंसक कार्रवाई ने दुनिया भर के लोगों को झकझोर कर रख दिया। झड़पों का एक वीडियो भी वायरल हो गया था, जिसमें दरांग जिला प्रशासन से जुड़े एक फोटोग्राफर को पुलिस द्वारा गोली मारे गए एक व्यक्ति के शरीर पर हिंसक रूप से कूदते हुए देखा गया था।

2021 आयरलैंड के क्रिस्लो में पेट्रोल स्टेशन पर विस्फोट में 10 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 8 घायल हो गए। इसी दिन फिलीपीन की पत्रकार मारिया रसा और रूसी पत्रकार दमित्री मुरातोव को नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार के लिए इस वर्ष चुनाव गया। मारिया रेसा फिलीपींस की पत्रकार हैं और वहां उन्होंने सत्ता के दुरुपयोग, हिंसा के उपयोग और बढ़ते अधिनायकवाद को उजागर करने के लिए अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता का उपयोग किया। इन्होंने 2012 में रैपर.काॅम की स्थापना की जिसने अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता के एक निडर रक्षक के रूप में काम किया। इन्होंने जानलेवा ड्रग-विरोधी अभियान पर काम किया। खबरों में बताया गया है कि दिमित्री मुरातोव काफी समय से रुस में तेजी से चुनौतीपूर्ण परिस्थितियों में अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता के लिए काम कर रहे हैं। 1993 में नोवाया गजेटा समाचार पत्र के संस्थापकों में वे शामिल हुए. दवअंलं हं्रमजं ने तथ्य-आधारित पत्रकारिता की और पेशेवर ईमानदारी से रूसी समाज में आदर्श कायम किया. अखबार के शुरू होने के बाद से अब तक इसके छह पत्रकार मारे जा चुके हैं। 

2022 एलेस बायलियात्स्की को मेमोरियल एंड सेंटर फॉर सिविल लिबर्टीज के नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार दिए जाने की घोषणा की गई। इसी दिन जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अरुण बाली का निधन हुआ। बाली का जन्म 23 दिसंबर 1942 को लाहौर, पाकिस्तान में हुआ था। उन्होंने 1991 के दूरदर्शन धारावाहिक चाणक्य में महाराज पोरस और तमाम टेलीविजन सिरियलों, फिल्मों में यादगार भूमिकाएं निभाईं।
