312 मिल्वियन ब्रिज की लड़ाई में विजय प्राप्त करने के पश्चात कॉन्सटेंटाइन द ग्रेट ने रोम में प्रवेश किया। शहर में एक भव्य उत्सव मनाया गया, जोर-शोर से उसका स्वागत। हारने के बाद तिबर नदी में डूब मरे मैक्सेंटियस के शरीर को निकाल कर उसका सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया गया और सिर को जुलूस के साथ रोम में घुमाया गया।

437 पश्चिमी रोमन सम्राट वैलेन्टिनियन तृतीय ने कॉन्स्टेंटिनोपल में अपने चचेरे भाई थियोडोसियस द्वितीय की बेटी लिसिनिया यूडोक्सिया से शादी की जिससे कॉन्स्टेंटिनोपल में हाउस ऑफ थियोडोसियस की दो शाखाओं का विलय हो गया। 

539 न्यू बेबीलोन साम्राज्य पर विजय हासिल कर साइरस द ग्रेट ने बाबुल पर कब्जा कर अपने नियंत्रण में अचमेनिद साम्राज्य को दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा साम्राज्य बनाया।

1618 एक अंग्रेज दरबारी और खोजकर्ता वाल्टर रैले को राजा जेम्स ने फांसी पर चढ़वा दिया, जबकि उसे पंद्रह साल कैद की सजा सुनाई गई थी।

1709 फ्रांस के विरोध में इंग्लैंड और नीदरलैंड ने एक संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1911 प्रखर अमेरिकी पत्रकार, संपादक और प्रकाशक जोसफ पुलित्जर का निधन हुआ। पत्रकारिता का सबसे बड़ा वैश्विक पुरस्कार पुलित्जर के नाम पर ही दिया जाता है। उनका जन्म माको, हंगरी में 10 अप्रैल 1847 को हुआ था। जोसेफ पुलित्जर एक हंगेरियन-अमेरिकी राजनीतिज्ञ और सेंट लुइस पोस्ट-डिस्पैच और न्यूयॉर्क वर्ल्ड के समाचार पत्र प्रकाशक थे। वह डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय बने और न्यूयॉर्क से कांग्रेस यानी अमेरिकी सदस्य चुने गए। उन्होंने पत्रकारिता को धार दी और दुनिया भर के पत्रकारों को बेहतर पत्रकारिता करने के प्रेरणा बने। उन्होंने राह दिखाई कि कैसे पूंजीपतियों, माफियाओं और सरकारों की 100 फीसदी गुलामी से अलग स्वतंत्र, निर्भीक, निष्पक्ष और वस्तुनिष्ठ पत्रकारिता की जा सकती है। उनके नाम पर बेहतरीन पत्रकारिता के लिए दिया जाना वाला पुलित्जर पुरस्कार दुनिया का सर्वोच्च पत्रकारिता पुरस्कार है और यह पत्रकारिता में नोबल पुरस्कार के समकक्ष स्थान रखता है।

1913 मध्य अमेरिकी देश अल सल्वाडोर में आई जबरदस्त बाढ़ से हजारों लोग मारे गये।

1920 विख्यात स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और कांग्रेसी नेता जाकिर हुसैन के प्रयासों से जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया विश्व विद्यालय की दिल्ली में स्थापना हुई। हुसैन बाद में देश के राष्ट्रपति रहे।

1923 आॅटोमन साम्राज्य के विघटन के बाद तुर्की गणतांत्रिक देश बना। मुस्तफा कमाल अतातुर्क तुर्की के पहले राष्ट्रपति बने

1942 एडोल्फ हिटलर के नाजी दस्तों ने बेलारूस के पिनस्क में 16 हजार यहूदियों की हत्या की।

1945 विश्व में पहला बॉल पोइंट पेन बाजार में आया।

1947 बेल्जियम, नीदरलैंड और लक्जमबर्ग ने बेनेलक्स संघ बनाया।

1948 विवादास्पद हिंदू गुरु, तांत्रिक चंद्रास्वामी का जन्म हुआ। यह प्रधानमंत्री पीवी नरसिंहाराव के धार्मिक सलाहकार भी बताए गये। इनके एक संकेत पर 1990 के दशक में एक दिन लोगों ने गणेश इत्यादि देवताओं की मूर्तियों को दूध पिलाया। इसी दिन इजरायल-फिलिस्तीनी संघर्ष के दौरान सफसफ नरसंहार हुआ जिसमें इजरायली सैनिकों ने गलील में फिलिस्तीनी गांव सफसफ पर कब्जा कर लिया और इजरायली फौज आईडीएफ सैनिकों ने करीब 5 दर्जन लोगों की हत्या कर दी।

1955 बेल्जियम में कामगारों के लिए सप्ताह में पांच दिन काम करने के कानून को मंजूरी दी गई।

1956 जाने माने आभूषण ब्रांड जोयालुक्कास ज्वैलरी के मालिक अमीर कारोबारी जोय अलुक्कास का जन्म त्रिसूर में हुआ।

1957 मोशे ड्वेक के नेसेट में फेंके गये ग्रेनेड से इजराइल के प्रधानमंत्री डेविड बेन-गुरियन और उनके पांच मंत्री घायल हो गए।

1959 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, नेता एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता पहली लोक सभा के सदस्य सैयद मोहम्मद अहमद काजमी का निधन हुआ।

1964 सबसे बड़ी आभूषण डकैती में मर्फ द सर्फ और उसके गिरोह न्यूयॉर्क शहर में अमेरिकी प्राकृतिक इतिहास संग्रहालय से बहुमूल्य आभूषण चुरा लिए जिसमें द स्टार ऑफ इंडिया नीलम भी था। द स्टार ऑफ इंडिया 563.35 कैरेट (112.67 ग्राम) का स्टार नीलम है। भूरे-नीले इस रत्न का खनन श्रीलंका में किया गया था और न्यूयॉर्क शहर में अमेरिकी प्राकृतिक इतिहास संग्रहालय में संरक्षित था।

1974 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेता और सुपर माॅडल अकाशदीप सैगल का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1975 सन 1992 में आदित्य पंचोली के के फिल्म याद रखेगी दुनिया से फिल्मी सफर शुरु करने वाली फिल्म तथा टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल रुख्सार रहमान का जन्म रामपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1981 जानी मानी बांग्ला थिएटर कलाकार, बांग्ला, हिंदी, तमिल एवं तेलुगू फिल्मों की अभिनेत्री रीमा सेन का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1984 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म एवं विज्ञापन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल और थिएटर कलाकार शिवानी टंकसाले का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1985 मुक्केबाजी के खेल में भारत को पहला ओलंपिक पदक दिलाने वाले बॉक्सर विजेंद्र सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1988 सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी एवं भारतीय हस्तकला क्षेत्र में नवजागरण लाने वाली गांधीवादी महिला कमलादेवी चट्टोपाध्याय का निधन हुआ।

1989 जाने माने तेज गेंदबाज, जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी वरुण आरोन का जन्म जमशेदपुर में हुआ।

1990 हिंदी, कन्नड़ तथा तमिल फिल्मों की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल कीर्ति खरबंदा का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन अफ्रीकी देश अल्जीरिया में आये भूकंप से 30 लोग मारे गये।

1994 न्यूयार्क में अमेरिकी भारतीय राष्ट्रीय संग्रहालय का शुभारंभ हुआ।

1995 एक जनमत संग्रह में कनाडा में क्यूबेक प्रांत की जनता ने कनाडा के साथ रहने का निर्णय लिया।

1996 जानी मानी भारतीय महिला धाविका स्वप्ना बर्मन का जन्म जलपाईगुड़ी, पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ।

1997 पाकिस्तान ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रासायनिक हथियार संधि की पुष्टि की।

1999 जानी मानी टेलीविजन, फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अदिति भाटिया का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन उड़ीसा में भयंकर विध्वंसकारी समुद्री तूफान आया जिसमें सैकड़ों लोगों की मौत और भारी पैमाने पर तबाही हुई।

2000 आइसलैंड के राष्ट्रपति ओलोफर रेगनर ग्रिमसन सात दिवसीय राजकीय यात्रा पर भारत पहुँचे।

2001 पाकिस्तान में कट्टरपंथी कबाइलियों ने पाक अधिकृत कश्मीर के चिलास कस्बे की हवाई पट्टी, जेल और पेट्रोल पंपों पर कब्जा कर लिया।

2004 त्रिनिदाद एवं टोबैगो के राष्ट्रपति मेक्सवेल रिचर्डस ने नई दिल्ली में भारतीय राष्ट्रपति एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम से मुलाकात की।

2005 आयल फार फूड प्रोग्राम विषय पर बोल्कर रिपोर्ट में भारत के विदेश मंत्री नटवर सिंह की कार्यशैली पर सवाल उठाए गये। इसी दिन 2005 में दिल्ली में दीपावली के दो दिन पहले व्यस्त इलाकों में आए सिलसिलेवार बम धमाकों में 62 लोगों की मौत हुई।

2012 अमेरिका के पूर्वी तट पर सैंडी तूफान के कारण 286 लोगों की मौत हुई। 2012 में इसी दिन बहुराष्ट्रीय पुस्तक प्रकाशन कंपनियों पब्लिशर्स पेंग्विन में रैंडम हाउस का विलय हुआ। दुनिया के सबसे बड़े प्रकाशक के रूप में विलय के बाद कंपनी का नाम पेंग्विन रैंडम हाउस हुआ। 2012 में इसी दिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया के स्कूलों में हिंदी और अन्य प्रमुख एशियाई भाषाएं पढ़ाए जाने का ऐलान किया गया। भारत और अन्य एशियाई देशों से संबंध मजबूत करने के लिए यह रणनीति तय की गई। 2012 में इसी दिन शीर्ष भारतीय खिलाड़ी पंकज आडवाणी ने फिर अपनी श्रेष्ठता साबित करते हुए इंग्लैंड के चैंपियन और स्थानीय प्रबल दावेदार माइक रसेल को हराकर सातवां वर्ल्ड बिलियर्ड्स चैंपियनशिप जीती।

2013 जाने माने अंग्रेजी अभिनेता, निर्देशक, निर्माता और पटकथा लेखक ग्राहम स्टार्क निधन हुआ।

2014 प्रसिद्ध अफ्रीकी - अमेरिकी कानूनविद और डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ, 30वें विधायी जिले का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले वाशिंगटन हाउस ऑफ रिप्रेजेंटेटिव्स के सदस्य रोजर डी. फ्रीमैन का निधन हुआ। कार्यालय में कोलन कैंसर के कारण उनकी मृत्यु हुई किंतु उन्हें बाद में मरणोपरांत फिर से चुना गया। इसी दिन दक्षिण-मध्य श्रीलंका में बदुल्ला भूस्खलन में 16 लोगों से अधिक लोगों की मौत हुई और सैकड़ों लोग लापता हुए।

2015 चीन ने एक बच्चे की नीति को खत्म करने की घोषणा की। जनसंख्या कम होने और बूढ़ों की संख्या बढ़ने के कारण एक से अधिक बच्चे पैदा करने की अनुमति प्रदान की गई।

2018 इंडोनेशिया के जकार्ता से उड़ान भरने के बाद एक बोइंग 737 मैक्स विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया, जिसमें सवार 189 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

2021 प्रसिद्ध ऑस्ट्रेलियाई क्रिकेटर, 1968 और 1980 के बीच 38 टेस्ट और 9 एक दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मैच खेलने वाले द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद के ऑस्ट्रेलिया के सबसे सफल ऑफ स्पिन गेंदबाज एशले अलेक्जेंडर मैलेट का निधन हुआ।

2022 दक्षिण कोरिया के सियोल के इटावन जिले में हैलोवीन उत्सव के दौरान भगदड़ मचने, भीड़ द्वारा कुचले जाने से करीब 156 लोगों की मौत हो गई। इसी दिन 2022 में सोमालिया के मोगादिशू में हुए दोहरे कार बम विस्फोट में करीब 100 लोग मारे गए और 300 से अधिक घायल हुए।
