1910 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रेडक्रॉस संस्था के संस्थापक हेनरी डुनेंट का निधन हुआ। हेनरी डुनेंट स्विस मानवतावादी, व्यवसायी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और रेड क्रॉस आंदोलन के सह-संस्थापक थे। उनके मानवीय प्रयासों के लिए उन्हें 1901 में पहला नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया।

1922 भाजपा नेता और मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल हुए भाई महावीर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन इटली में तानाशाह बेनिटो मुसोलिनी ने सरकार बनाई।

1924 इटली के मिलान में आयोजित फर्स्ट इंटरनेशनल थ्रिप्ट कांग्रेस (बचत बैंकों की वैश्विक सोसायटी) में विश्व बचत दिवस की स्थापना की गई। इसमें बचत के महत्व के बारे में बातचीत हुई और इसके लिए व्यापक विचार-विमर्श, तैयारियों और समन्वय पर आगे काम करने की जरूरत पर जोर दिया गया। इतालवी प्रोफेसर फिलिपो रविजा ने विश्व थ्रिफ्ट दिवस का विचार प्रस्तावित किया। थ्रिफ्ट कांग्रेस के प्रस्तावों में यह निर्णय लिया गया कि विश्व थ्रिफ्ट दिवस पूरे विश्व में बचत को बढ़ावा देने के लिए समर्पित दिन होना चाहिए। बचत को बढ़ावा देने के अपने प्रयासों में, बचत बैंकों ने स्कूलों, पुजारियों, पादरियों आदि धार्मिक व्यक्तियों, सांस्कृतिक, खेल, पेशेवर और महिलाओं की संस्थाओं के साथ समन्वय किया और बचत के विचार को जन-जन तक पहुंचाने का प्रयास किया।

1975 इसी दिन जर्मन भौतिक विज्ञानी और अकादमिक, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता का निधन हुआ और इसी दिन गुस्ताव लुडविग हर्ट्ज प्रसिद्ध स्पेनिश नेता किंग जुआन कारलोस ने सत्ता संभाली।

1980 मध्य अमेरिकी देशों होंडुरस तथा अल सल्वाडोर ने आपसी सहमति से सीमा विवाद को हल किया।

1983 जानी मानी फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री और माॅडल नवीना बोले का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

2008 असम (भारत) की राजधानी गुवाहाटी और 13 अन्य स्थानों पर श्रेणिबद्ध धमाके हुए। इसमें 66 से अधिक व्यक्तियों की मृत्यु हो गई। स्टेट बैंक आफ बीकानेर एवं जयपुर ने 2008 में इसी दिन फिक्स डिपोजिट की व्याज दरों में एक प्रतिशत की कमी की। इसी दिन गुवाहाटी सहित असम के कई हिस्सों में कम से कम 18 धमाके हुए जिनमें 81 से अधिक व्यक्तियों की मौत हो गई और 400 से अधिक लोग घायल हुए।

2017 सियोल, दक्षिण कोरिया में प्रसिद्ध दक्षिण कोरियाई अभिनेता, माई वाइफ गॉट मैरिड, द सर्वेंट, और योरसेल्फ एंड योर्स फिल्मों में प्रमुख भूमिकाओं, कॉन्फिडेंशियल असाइनमेंट और बिलीवर में उनकी सहायक भूमिकाओं के साथ-साथ टेलीविजन श्रृंखला लवर्स इन प्राग, गॉड ऑफ वॉर, हूर जून, द के लिए सुप्रसिद्ध किम जू-ह्युक का निधन हुआ।
