86 रोमन इतिहासकार, राजनीतिज्ञ था, लगभग 50 ईसा पूर्व में जूलियस सीजर के सहयोगी गयुस सल्लुस्टियस क्रिस्पस अंग्रेजी में सल्लुस्ट का सबाइन्स, अमितर्नम, इटली में जन्म हुआ।

208 मार्कस ऑरेलियस सेवेरस अलेक्जेंडर का जन्म अर्का, लेबनान में। अलेक्जेंडर सेवेरस रोमन सम्राट था, जिसने 222 से 235 तक शासन किया। वह सेवेरन राजवंश का अंतिम सम्राट था। अलेक्जेंडर सेवेरस 222 में अपने मारे गए चचेरे भाई इलागाबालस का उत्तराधिकारी बना।

1507 विख्यात इतालवी वास्तुकार, प्रतिष्ठित गेसू चर्च के डिजाइनर, इंजीनियर जियाकोमो बारोजी दा विग्नोला का जन्म हुआ।

1542 मरियम उज़ ज़मानी जो जोधा बाई कही गई राजा भारमल और रानी चंपावती की बेटी, मुगल बादशाह अकबर की पत्नी का जन्म आमेर, राजस्थान में हुआ।

1671 प्रसिद्ध इतालवी भिक्षु, गणितज्ञ और इंजीनियर लुइगी गुइडो ग्रांडी का जन्म हुआ।

1705 हंगरी के स्वतंत्र होने के बाद रकोजी को राजा बनाया जायेगा, यह फैसला हंगरी के सांसदों ने किया।

1801 स्पेन ने लुसियाना के औपनिवेशिक क्षेत्र को इटली के टस्कनी क्षेत्र के बदले सैन इल्डेफोन्सो की तीसरी संधि पर हस्ताक्षर कर फ्रांस को लौटा दिया।

1838 ब्रिटिश कालीन भारत के गवर्नर जनरल लॉर्ड ऑकलैंड ने शिमला मैनिफेस्टो जारी किया, जिसकी वजह से पहला एंग्लो-अफगान युद्ध हुआ।

1854 अंग्रेज सरकार ने भारत में डाक टिकट का प्रचालन आरंभ किया। टिकट पर महारानी विक्टोरिया का चेहरा और भारत बना होता था। इसकी कीमत आधा आना (1/32 रुपये) थी।

1861 श्रीमती बीटन (Isabella Beeton extensive guide to running a household in Victorian Britain) की घरेलू प्रबंधन पुस्तक प्रकाशित हुई, इसकी पहले वर्ष में 60,000 प्रतियां बिकीं. मिसेज बीटन की घरेलू प्रबंधन पुस्तक, जिसे मिसेज बीटन की कुकरी बुक के रूप में भी प्रकाशित किया गया है, विक्टोरियन ब्रिटेन में घर चलाने के लिए एक व्यापक मार्गदर्शिका है, जिसे इसाबेला बीटन द्वारा संपादित किया गया है और पहली बार 1861 में एक पुस्तक के रूप में प्रकाशित किया गया था।

1867 विख्यात समाजवादी जर्मन दार्शनिक, लेखक, चिंतक, संगठनकर्ता, अर्थशास्त्री कार्ल मार्क्स की प्रसिद्ध पुस्तक दास कैपिटल प्रकाशित हुई। यह किताब दुनिया भर में बहुत पढ़ी जाती है। दास कैपिटल विश्व की सर्वाधिक बिकने वाली किताब है। इसका अनुवाद दुनिया की लगभग सभी भाषाओं में हुआ है। इसमें पूँजी एवं पूँजीवाद का विश्लेषण है तथा मजदूरवर्ग को शोषण से मुक्त करने के उपाय बताये गए हैं। इस पुस्तक के द्वारा एक सर्वथा नवीन विचारधारा प्रवाहित हुई जिसने संपूर्ण प्राचीन मान्यताओं को झकझोर कर हिला दिया। और शोषणकारी, दमनकारी, अय्याश तथा जनता को बदहाली में रखने वाले पूंजीपति तथा शासकवर्ग की जड़ें हिला दीं और व्यापक जनसमुदाय की शोषण से मुक्ति के नये द्वार खोले। आज के घोर महंगाई, बेरोजगारी, तानाशाही, बंपर लूट, झूठ, पाखंड और पूंजीपति-शासकों द्वारा ढाए जा रहे जुल्मों के दौर में यह किताब हर किसी को पढ़नी चाहिए।

1881 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी इंजीनियर और व्यवसायी, प्रमुख विमानन कंपनी बोइंग विलियम बोइंग का जन्म हुआ।

1906 मशहूर भारतीय फिल्म संगीतकार एसडी बर्मन यानी सचिन देव बर्मन का जन्म हुआ। वे त्रिपुरा राजघराने के सदस्य थे।

1975 फिलीपींस में मुहम्मद अली ने 14वें राउंड में जो फ्रेजर को प्रैक्टिकल नॉकआउट से हराया। इस मैच को इतिहास में सबसे महान मुक्केबाजी मैचों में से एक माना जाता है और इसे प्रायः थ्रिला इन मनीला मैच कहा जाता है।

1976 अमेरिका के इतिहास का सबसे बड़ा टीकाकरण कार्यक्रम शुरू हुआ। स्वाइन फ्लू बुखार से सुरक्षा के मद्देनजर यह टीकाकरण किया गया।

1978 भारत में बालिकाओं के विवाह की आयु 14 वर्ष से बढ़ा कर 18 वर्ष और लड़कों की 18 से बढ़ा कर 21 वर्ष की।

1990 जानी मानी बोल्ड, खूबसूरत फिल्म अभिनेत्री, लेखिका, निर्देशिका और माॅडल ज़ोया हुसैन का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ।

2018 प्रसिद्ध फ्रांसीसी-अर्मेनियाई गायक, संगीतकार, लेखक, फिल्म निर्माता और सार्वजनिक व्यक्ति चार्ल्स अजनवोर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2018 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायालय ने व्यवस्था दी कि चिली बोलीविया के साथ प्रशांत महासागर तक पहुंच के लिए बातचीत करने के लिए बाध्य नहीं है।

2019 फिनलैंड के कुओपियो में सावो वोकेशनल कॉलेज में एक स्कूल कक्षा में विद्यार्थियों पर कृपाण से लैस जोएल मारिन ने हमला किया, जिसमें एक की मौत हो गई और दस घायल हो गए। इसी दिन 2019 में अमेरिका की फोर्ड मोटर कंपनी और भारत की महिंद्रा एंड महिंद्रा ने भारत में संयुक्त उपक्रम शुरू करने की घोषणा की।

2022 इंडोनेशिया के पूर्वी जावा के कंजुरुहान स्टेडियम में एक फुटबॉल मैच के बाद दर्शकों के दो गुटों में हुए झगड़े में 135 लोग मारे गए। इसी दिन 2022 में प्रसिद्ध जापानी पेशेवर पहलवान और राजनीतिज्ञ एंटोनियो इनोकी का निधन हुआ।
