714 चीन के तांग राजवंश के सम्राट शांग और उनकी दूसरी उपाधि सम्राट शाओ वास्तविक व्यक्तिगत नाम ली चोंगमाओ का निधन हुआ।

989 मध्य कालीन चीन में प्रधानमंत्री या चांसलर हुए फैन झोंगयान का जन्म हुआ। शिष्टाचारस्वरूप फैन को जिवेन कहा जाता है। चीन के कवि, राजनीतिज्ञ, दार्शनिक, लेखक, सैन्य रणनीतिकार और सांग राजवंश के उल्लेखनीय विद्वान-अधिकारी थे। कई दशकों तक केंद्रीय चीन सरकार की सेवा के बाद फैन को पूरे सोंग साम्राज्य का प्रधानमंत्री या चांसलर नियुक्त किया गया। फैन के दार्शनिक, शैक्षिक और राजनीतिक योगदान आज भी प्रभावी हैं, और उनका लेखन चीनी साहित्यिक सिद्धांत का एक मुख्य घटक बना हुआ है। आधिकारिक सेवा के प्रति उनका रवैया विद्वान-अधिकारियों के उचित रवैये पर उनकी अक्सर उद्धृत पंक्ति में समाहित है वे ऑल-अंडर-हेवन की चिंताओं की चिंता करने वाले पहले व्यक्ति थे, और इसकी खुशियों का आनंद लेने वाले सबसे आखिरी थे। फैन झोंगयान फैन परिवार के सबसे प्रमुख सदस्यों में से एक थे। उन्हें दार्शनिक कंफ्यूशियस और मेंसियस के बाद चीन के सबसे प्रसिद्ध विद्वानों में से एक माना जाता है।

1798 फ्रांस में अनिवार्य सैन्य सेवा कानून प्रभाव में आया। जिसके तहत हर परिवार के पुरुषों को सेना में प्रशिक्षण और सेवा देना अनिवार्य कर दिया गया। उस कालखंड में शासक राज्य के विस्तार के लिए युद्ध बहुत करते थे और भारी संख्या में सैनिकों की जरूरत होती थी। लड़ाइयों में बहुत सैनिक मारे जाते थे और जनता में बहुत लोग युद्ध को अनावश्यक जान माल का नुकसान मानते हुए सेना में अपने बच्चों को नहीं भेजना चाहते थे। लेकिन सरकारें जबरिया भी लोगों को सैन्य सेवा में लगाती थीं।

1836 सैम ह्यूस्टन टेक्सास गणराज्य के राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित हुए। बाद में टेक्सास संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका का एक प्रांत बन गया।

1839 चीन में पहला अफीम युद्ध शुरू हुआ।

1872 प्रख्यात स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, समाज सेवी, कारोबारी एवं तमिल भाषा के विद्वान, पहली नौसेना इकाई स्थापित करने वाले वलियप्पन ओल्गानाथन चिदंबरम पिल्लई का जन्म हुआ।

1968 दार्जिलिंग में लोबसांग सांगेय का जन्म हुआ। सांगेय भारत में चल रही केद्रीय तिब्बती प्रशासन के प्रधानमंत्री हैं। तिब्बत की निर्वासित सरकार के दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री जिन्हें तिब्बत के राजनितिक एवं आध्यात्मिक नेता दलाई लामा के राजनीति से सन्यास लेने की घोषणा करने के बाद प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में दुनिया भर में फैले तिब्बत के लोगों ने चुना।

1969 अमेरिकी सेना के लेफ्टिनेंट विलियम कैली पर माई लाई वियतनाम में 109 नागरिकों की हत्या करने की प्लानिंग, हत्या कराने का आरोप लगा। यह घटना माई लाई नरसंहार कही जाती है।

1971 जाने माने फिल्मी गीतकार इरशाद कामिल का जन्म मलेरकोटला, पंजाब में हुआ।

1972 जर्मनी के म्यूनिख शहर में हो रहे ओलंपिक के दौरान फिलीस्तीनी समूह ब्लैक सितम्बर ने 11 इजरायली एथलीटों को बंधक बना लिया और बाद में उनकी हत्या कर दी।

1975 पुर्तगाल के प्रधानमंत्री गोंसालवेज ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

1976 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता पंकज त्रिपाठी का जन्म गोपालगंज बिहार में हुआ।

1977 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन और फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अचिंत कौर का जन्म मेरठ उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1979 अयान अली बंगश का जन्म हुआ जो भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीतकार हैं और सरोद बजाते हैं। वे उस्ताद अमजद अली खान के बेटे हैं और अक्सर अपने बड़े भाई अमान अली खान के साथ प्रस्तुति देते हैं। उनके साथ उन्होंने संगीत प्रतिभा शो सा रे गा मा की मेजबानी भी की थी। उन्होंने एकल एल्बम के अलावा अपने भाई और पिता के साथ जुगलबंदी भी की है।

1986 अपहृत भारतीय विमान में यात्रियों को बचाने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाने वाली नीरजा भनोट की कराची में मौत हो गई। इसी दिन 1986 में जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेटर प्रज्ञान ओझा का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन 1986 में मध्य प्रदेश के शिक्षाविद और हिंदी साहित्यकार अंबिका प्रसाद दिव्य का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 1986 में दिन जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेटर प्रज्ञान ओझा का जन्म भुवनेश्वर में हुआ। इसी दिन 1986 में लोकप्रिय दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मी गीत गायिका ज्योत्सना राधाकृष्णन का जन्म कुवैत में हुआ।

1991 प्रख्यात हिंदी लेखक, कवि, पत्रकार, नाटककार, संपादक, स्तंभकार, फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन धारावाहिकों के संवाद लेखक और व्यंग्यकार शरद जोशी का निधन हुआ। 1991 में इसी दिन दक्षिण अफ्रीका के गांधीवादी, नस्लभेद विरोधी नेता नेल्सन मंडेला अफ्रीकन नेशनल कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष चुने गये। 

1992 मिस सुप्रानैशनल 2014 एवं जानी मानी फिल्म, टीवी अभिनेत्री और बोल्ड माॅडल आशा भट का जन्म भद्रावती में हुआ।

2016 अमेरिकी अभिनेता ह्यूग ओश्ब्रायन का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2016 में प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी वकील, लेखक और राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता फीलिस श्लाफली का निधन हुआ।

2018 भारतीय गुजराती लेखक और पत्रकार भगवतीकुमार शर्मा का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2018 में खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान ब्राजीलियाई अभिनेत्री, माडल, टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तुतकर्ता बीट्रिज सेगल का निधन हुआ। टेलीनोवेला वेले टुडो में ओडेट रोइटमैन की बीट्रिज की भूमिका सर्वाधिक लोकप्रिय हुई।

2019 प्रसिद्ध मैक्सिकन चित्रकार, मूर्तिकार और ग्राफिक कलाकार फ्रांसिस्को टोलेडो

2021 गिनी के राष्ट्रपति अल्फा कोंडे को तख्तापलट के दौरान सशस्त्र बलों ने पकड़ लिया।

As a courtesy, the fan is called Jiwen. was a Chinese poet, politician, philosopher, writer, military strategist and notable scholar-official of the Song dynasty. After serving the central Chinese government for several decades, Fan was appointed prime minister or chancellor of the entire Song Empire. Fan's philosophical, educational, and political contributions are still influential today, and his writings remain a core component of Chinese literary canon. His attitude towards official service is contained in his oft-quoted line on the proper attitude of scholar-officials He was the first to worry about the concerns of All-under-Heaven, and the last to enjoy its joys.
