1917 बालफोर घोषणा के अनुसार ब्रिटेन द्वारा फिलिस्तीन में यहूदी बस्ती की स्थापना की सहमति को अंततः काउंसिल ऑफ द लीग ऑफ नेशंस ने मंजूरी दी, जो 29 सितंबर 1923 को अस्तित्व में आई।

1938 पोलैंड ने टेश्चेन पर अपना अधिकार दोहराया। प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के बाद इस संपन्न क्षेत्र को पोलैंड और चेकोस्लोवाकिया के बीच बांट दिया गया था। इस क्षेत्र पर अधिकार को लेकर दोनों देशों के रिश्तों में तनाव बना रहा।

1941 बर्बर तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर के शासन में होलोकॉस्ट (यहूदी संहार अभियान) में जर्मन नाजियों ने 30,000 से अधिक यहूदी नागरिकों की हत्या कर दी। और 30 अप्रैल 1945 तक यानी हिटलर की आत्महत्या तक यह सिलसिला चलता रहा।

1942 मतंगिनी हाजरा की 72 वर्ष की आयु में बंगाल के तुमलुक में अगस्त आंदोलन में कांग्रेस के जुलूस का नेतृत्व करते हुए गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई।

1943 ईरान के पाँचवें राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद खातमी का जन्म हुआ।

1944 बीसवीं सदी की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान ब्रिटिश फिल्म अभिनेत्री, गायिका और माॅडल इस्ला ब्लेयर का जन्म बंगलौर, भारत में हुआ। इसी दिन पश्चिम बंगाल के प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारी गोपाल सेन का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन विख्यात अमेरिकी टाइपफेस डिजाइनर, ग्राफिक डिजाइनर, इतिहासकार, लेखक और मुद्रण के ग्रंथ सूचीकार का डगलस क्रॉफर्ड मैकमुर्ट्री का निधन हुआ।

1947 भारत के 38वें मुख्य न्ययाधीश हुए सरोश होमी कपाड़िया का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1954 यूरोपीय परमाणु अनुसंधान संगठन यानी सर्न की स्थापना हुई। सर्न एक फ्रेंच शब्द कौंसिइल इरोपिन पाउर ला रिचरचे न्यूक्लियर है जिसका अंग्रेजी में अर्थ है- यूरोपियन काउंसिल फॉर न्यूक्लियर रिसर्च। सर्न पार्टिकल फिजिक्स की सबसे बड़ी लैब है, जो फ्रांस एवं स्विटजरलैंड की सीमा पर जेनेवा के उत्तरी-पश्चिमी क्षेत्र में है। सर्न में भारत समेत 22 सदस्य देश हैं। दुनिया के 70 देशों के सैकड़ों विश्वविद्यालयों से लगभग 8 हजार वैज्ञानिक और इंजीनियर इसमें काम करते हैं। सर्न में 10 साल की मेहनत के बाद दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा कोलाइडर बनाया गया था। 4 जुलाई 2012 को इसी कोलाइडर में हिग्स बोसॉन खोजा गया था, जिसे गॉड पार्टिकल भी कहा जाता है। इस महाप्रयोग में कोलाइडर से प्रोटॉन और लेड आयन के कण लाइट की स्पीड से टकराए तो प्राथमिक कण पैदा हुआ था। वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि हमारा ब्रह्मांड बिग बैंग के बाद इन्हीं कणों से बना है।

1957 भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड के 2008 में अध्यक्ष बने अधिवक्ता शशांक वेंकटेश मनोहर का जन्म नागपुर में हुआ।

1958 बाॅलीवुड के प्रमुख सहायक अभिनेता, टेलीविजन और मंच कलाकार दर्शन जरीवाला का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1959 भारत की आरती साहा ने इंग्लिश चैनल को तैरकर पार किया। ऐसा करने वाली वह एशिया की पहली महिला बनीं। उफनती लहरों और बर्फीले पानी के कारण इस विशाल जलराशि को तैरकर पार करना एक कठिन चुनौती थी और इसे तैराकी का माउंट एवरेस्ट कहा जाता है। आरती ने 19 बरस की आयु में इस खतरनाक यात्रा को सफलतापूर्वक पूरा किया।

1962 कोलकाता में बिड़ला तारामंडल खुला।

1966 छप्पन से अधिक किताबें लिखने वाली अहमदाबाद, गुजरात की लेखिका, कथाकार, पटकथा लेखक, पत्रकार, रेडियो, टेलीविजन कलाकार, अभिनेत्री काजल ओझा वैद्य का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। 

1970 मिस्र के राष्ट्रपति गमाल अब्दुल नासिर का निधन हुआ।

1970 बाॅलीवुड की जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री, भाजपा नेत्री एवं टेलीविजन प्रस्तोता खुशबू सुंदर का जन्म 29 सितंबर मुंबई में हुआ। अमेरिकी कैमिकल निर्माता कंपनी यूनियन कार्बाइड ने बंबई स्थित अपने केमिकल्स एंड प्लास्टिक्स संयंत्र में पहला जलशोधन संस्थान स्थापित किया। इसमें साफ किए जाने वाले सीवेज के पानी को औद्योगिक कार्यों में इस्तेमाल किया जाना था।

1971 बंगाल की खाड़ी में चक्रवातीय तूफान से करीब 10 हजार लोगों की मौत हुई।

1977 सोवियत संघ ने स्पेस स्टेशन साल्युत 6 को पृथ्वी की कक्षा में स्थापित किया।

1978 तमिल, हिंदी और कन्नड़ फिल्म अभिनेत्री फ्लोरा सैनी या आशा सैनी का जन्म 29 सितंबर चंडीगढ़ में हुआ।

1978 पोप जॉन पॉल प्रथम की रहस्यमय हालात में मौत हो गई थी। वे केवल 33 दिनों पहले पोप चुने गए थे और बताया गया कि बिस्तर पर पढ़ाई करते हुए दिल का दौरा पड़ने से मौत हो गई थी।

1979 कैथोलिक ईसाइयों के सर्वोच्च धर्म गुरू पोप जॉन पॉल द्वितीय ने आयरलैंड के लोगों से हिंसा को त्याग कर शांति के रास्ते पर चलने की अपील की थी।

1984 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान गुजराती अभिनेत्री, माॅडल एवं नृत्यांगना ईशा शरवानी का जन्म हुआ।

1986 आजमगढ़ उत्तर प्रदेश में 29 सितंबर जन्में विक्रांत सिंह राजपूत जाने-माने भोजपुरी फिल्म अभिनेता हैं।

1990 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड लोकप्रिय दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल श्रद्धा राम श्रीनाथ का जन्म ऊधमपुर, जम्मू कश्मीर में हुआ।

1993 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी, पंजाबी, तमिल, तेलुगू, मलयालम और विविध भारतीय भाषाओं की फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल वामिका गब्बी का जन्म चंडीगढ़ में हुआ।

1995 नैनीताल जिले के मैदानी क्षेत्र को काटकर उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री मायावती ने रुद्रपुर के गांधी पार्क में आयोजित एक समारोह में ऊधम सिंह नगर जिले की घोषणा की। भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के अमर शहीद ऊधम सिंह ने 13 अप्रैल 1919 के जलियावाला बाग के अंग्रेज सरकार के बर्बर नरसंहार का बदला लिया था, लंदन में जनरल ओ’डायर की हत्या करके। ऊधम सिंह को ब्रिटिश सरकार ने 31 जुलाई 1940 को लंदन की पेंटनविले जेल में फांसी दे दी थी। ऊधम सिंह नगर जिला पूर्व में खटीमा से लेकर पश्चिम में जसपुर तक खटीमा-पानीपत राजमार्ग के इर्द-गिर्द का इलाका है। इस जिले में ऊधम सिंह नगर नामक कोई स्थान नहीं है। इसका नाम भर शहीद ऊधम सिंह के नाम पर है। यहां जिला मुख्यालय रुद्रपुर में है। 

1998 खूबसूरत, बहुप्रतिभावान मलयालम फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल मानसा राधाकृष्ण का जन्म एर्नाकुलम में हुआ।

2000 चीन की मुन्चोनाक कोयला खान में 100 लोगों की मृत्यु।

2001 संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने आतंकवाद विरोधी अमेरिकी प्रस्ताव पारित किया।

2002 बुसान में 14वें एशियाई खेलों का उद्घाटन हुआ।

2011 चीन ने जिक्वान उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण केंद्र से पहली अंतरिक्ष प्रयोगशाला तियांगोंग-1 को अंतरिक्ष की कक्षा में सफलतापूर्वक स्थापित किया।

2012 वर्ल्ड हार्ट फेडरेशन हर साल 29 सितंबर को वर्ल्ड हार्ट डे यानी विश्व हृदय दिवस मनाता है, ताकि लोगों को दिल की बीमारियों के बारे में जागरूक कर सके। मई दुनियाभर के नेताओं ने तय किया कि नॉन-कम्युनिकेबल डिजीज की वजह से होने वाली मौतों को 2025 तक घटाकर 25 प्रतिशज पर लाना है। इसमें भी आधी मौतें सिर्फ दिल के रोगों की वजह से होती है। ऐसे में वर्ल्ड हार्ट डे को मान्यता मिली और हर साल यह 29 सितंबर को मनाया जाने लगा।

2015 प्रसिद्ध चेक-जर्मन पत्रकार, लेखक और आलोचक हेल्मुथ कारसेक का निधन हुआ।

2016 भारत ने पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक कर सीमा के करीब छिपे कथित आतंकवादियों के ठिकाने पर हमला करने का दावा किया। पाकिस्तान ने भारत के दावे का खंडन किया। अंतरराष्ट्रीय मीडिया को भी ग्राउंड पर ऐसा कुछ नहीं मिला जैसा भारत ने दावा किया था। भारत के दावे को लेकर भारत में भी सवाल उठे।

2017 भारतीय हिंदी सिनेमा में अंग्रेज अभिनेता टॉम ऑल्टर का निधन हुआ। इनका जन्म मसूरी, उत्तराखंड में 22 जून 1950 को हुआ था।

2018 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी ब्लूज गिटारवादक और गायक ओटिस रश का निधन हुआ।

2019 प्रसिद्ध जर्मन-अमेरिकी संगीत समीक्षक मार्टिन बर्नहाइमर का निधन हुआ। 

2020 कुवैत के अमीर (राष्ट्रध्यक्ष) सबा अल-अहमद अल-जबर अल-सबा का निधन हुआ। 2020 में इसी दिन चार साल की उम्र से मनोरंजन क्षेत्र में करियर शुरु करने वाली विख्यात ऑस्ट्रेलियाई-अमेरिकी गायिका, अभिनेत्री, टेलीविजन होस्ट और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हेलेन मैक्सिन रेड्डी का निधन हुआ। 2020 में इसी दिन कुवैत के अमीर यानी शासक शेख सबाह अल अहमद अल सबाह का 91 वर्ष की उम्र में देहांत हुआ। वह 2006 में कुवैत के अमीर बने थे।

2022 प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश कंप्यूटर वैज्ञानिक और गणितज्ञ कैथलीन बूथ एवं प्रमुख इवोरियन सेना अधिकारी अकिसी कौमे का निधन हुआ।

2022 टाइम्स ग्रुप के टेलीविजन चैनल टाइम्स नाॅव द्वारा लाइव टीवी डिबेट पर राहुल गांधी के खिलाफ अपशब्द इस्तेमाल किये जाने को लेकर यूथ कांग्रेस ने उसके खिलाफ 29 सितंबर को विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता सुप्रिया श्रीनेत ने कहा, क्या ये कठपुतली बनकर सरकार के एजेंडे को चलाने का काम कर रहे हैं। ये पहली बार नहीं है जब देश में ये हालात बन गए हैं। लंबे समय से कुछ मीडिया संस्थान विपक्ष के खिलाफ इस तरह का रवैया अपनाये हुए हैं, जो कि स्वस्थ लोकतंत्र की निशानी नहीं है। मुझे लगता है देश के चौथे स्तम्भ को एक बार स्वतः समीक्षा करने की जरूरत है कि वो क्या कर रहे हैं। टाइम्स नाॅव की एंकर नविका कुमार ने एक दिन पहले डिबेट के दौरान राहुल गांधी के लिए ब्लडी शब्द का इस्तेमाल किया था। इस पर कुछ सोशल मीडिया यूजर्स ने एंकर नविका कुमार को बीजेपी की पत्रकार करार दे दिया तो कुछ ने सावरकर गैंग और माफीनामा गैंग की पत्रकार करार दिया। यूथ कांग्रेस ने बुधवार नोएडा स्थित टीवी चैनल के कार्यालय के बाहर विरोध प्रदर्शन भी किया।
