12 इस्वी में 31 अगस्त को इटली के एंटियम में गयुस सीजर ऑगस्टस जर्मेनिकस यानी कैलीगुला का जन्म हुआ। कैलीगुला 37 ई. से 41 ई. में अपनी हत्या तक शासक रहे। वह रोमन जनरल जर्मेनिकस के पुत्र थे। और एग्रीपिना द एल्डर, ऑगस्टस की पोते थे। कैलीगुला का जन्म रोमन साम्राज्य के पहले शासक परिवार में हुआ था, जिसे पारंपरिक रूप से जूलियो-क्लाउडियन राजवंश के रूप में जाना जाता है।

161 इटली में रोम के निकट लोनूवियम में कमोडस का जन्म हुआ। रोमन सम्राट मार्कस ऑरेलियस के पुत्र कमोडस 177 से 192 तक अपनी हत्या होने तक शासन किया। उनके शासनकाल को आमतौर पर रोमन साम्राज्य (पैक्स रोमाना) के इतिहास में शांति और समृद्धि के स्वर्ण युग के अंत के रूप में माना जाता है।
