1933 प्रख्यात भारतीय कवि, संस्मरणकार, कहानीकार, उपन्यासकार तथा समीक्षक अजित शंकर चौधरी का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अमर शहीद क्रांतिकारी दिनेश चंद्र मजूमदार का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन कार्टून चरित्र डोनाल्ड डक पहली बार डिजनी वाँल द्वारा निर्मित एनिमेशन फिल्म द वाइज लिटिल हैन में दिखी गई।

1936 भारत की आजादी के लिए अथक संघर्ष करने वाले क्रांतिकारी अब्बास तैयबजी का निधन हुआ।

1940 नार्वे ने द्वितीय विश्व युद्व के दौरान जर्मनी के समक्ष आत्मसमर्पण किया।

1941 यूरोपीय देश सर्बिया की राजधानी बेलग्रेड के फोर्ट स्मेदेरोवो क्षेत्र स्थित एक हथियार कारखाने में विस्फोट से 1500 लोगों की मौत हुई।

1944 रुस ने फिनलैंड के केरेलिया क्षेत्र पर आक्रमण किया।

1945 ऑस्ट्रेलियाई सेना ने ब्रुनेई की खाड़ी स्थित उत्तरी बोर्नियो क्षेत्र में प्रवेश किया।

1949 भारत की प्रथम महिला आइ.पी.एस अफसर बनी किरण बेदी का जन्म हुआ। वे लंबे समय से राजनीति में हैं और अभी राज्यपाल हैं। वे भारतीय जनता पार्टी की नेता हैं।

1960 चीन में आये चक्रवती तूफान मैरी के कारण 1600 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

1964 भारत के प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू के निधन के कुछ समय बाद अपनी सादगी, विनम्रता और ईमानदारी के लिए खास पहचान रखने वाले लाल बहादुर शास्त्री दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री बने।

1967 सीरिया की गोलान पहाड़ियों पर छह दिवसीय युद्ध के बाद इजरायल ने कब्जा कर लिया गया था। गोलान हाइट्स उत्तर में माउंट हर्मन से घिरा हुआ पठार है, दक्षिण में यारमुक नदी, पश्चिम में गलील और हुला घाटी का सागर और पूर्व में रक्कड़ वादी है।

1985 चर्चित भारतीय हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेत्री सोनम कपूर का जन्म हुआ।

1990 मशहूर शायर और गीतकार असद भोपाली का निधन हुआ।

1991 विख्यात हिंदी फिल्मकार, लेखक, निर्देशक राज खोसला का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन इंग्लैंड के पूर्व ओपनर ग्राहम गूच ने 154 रन की यादगार पारी खेलते हुए स्वदेश में 22 साल बाद टेस्ट मैच में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ टीम को जीत दिलाई।

1993 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी फिल्म निर्देशक सत्येन बोस का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने चलती का नाम गाड़ी जैसी कई लोकप्रिय फिल्मों का निर्देशन किया।

1995 भारत के स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, सांसद तथा प्रसिद्ध किसान नेता एन.जी. रंगा का निधन हुआ।

1999 नाटो और यूगोस्लाविया ने कोसोवा में शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसी दिन दक्षिण अफ्रीका की कुली ओडैजो माउंट एवरेस्ट पर दक्षिण तथा उत्तर दोनों छोर से चढ़ाई करने वाली विश्व की प्रथम महिला बनीं

2001 आम चुनाव में ईरान में मोहम्मद खातमी की पुनः जीत हुई, पाकिस्तान की पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री बेनजीर भुट्टो को तीन साल की सजा। इसी दिन लिएंडर पेस और महेश भूपति की जोड़ी ने 2001 में फ्रेंच ओपेन टेनिस का युगल खिताब जीता।

2006 जर्मनी के म्यूनिख में विश्व कप फुटबाल की रंगारंग शुरुआत हुई।

2007 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज डब्ल्यू बुश ने रूस और सर्बिया के विरोध के बावजूद कोसोवो की स्वतंत्रता पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र की कार्रवाई का आह्वान किया। कोसोवो दक्षिण-पूर्वी यूरोप में एक विवादित क्षेत्र है जिसने सर्बिया से स्वतंत्र होने का दावा किया।

2008 केंद्र शासित क्षेत्र प्रशासन ने चंडीगढ़ को तंबाकू मुक्त घोषित किया। 2008 में इसी दिन लोकप्रिय भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता शाहरुख खान ने को नौवें इंटरनेशनल इण्डियन फिल्म एकेडमी (आईफा) पुरस्कार समारोह में फिल्म चक दे इंडिया के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता का पुरस्कार जीता। इसी दिन अमेरिका की एक ऊर्जा कंपनी ने पवन ऊर्जा के टरबाइन निर्मित करने वाली भारतीय कंपनी सुजलान एनर्जी लिमिटेड के 160 मेगावाट्स खरीदने का अनुबंध रद्द कर दिया। 

2011 विश्व प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चित्रकार मकबूल फिदा हुसैन का निधन कतर में हुआ। हिंदुत्ववादियों के विरोध के चलते उन्हें भारत छोड़ना पड़ा था। इसी दिन सउदी अरब के रियाद में वाहन चलाने पर 6 महिलाओं को गिरफ्तार किया गया। सउदी अरब में महिलाओं का वाहन चलाना वर्जित था।
