1948 इंडियन पीपुल्स थिएटर एसोसिएशन से संबद्ध प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फिल्म, टेलीविजन और रंगमंच अभिनेता आंजन श्रीवास्तव का जन्म हुआ।

1953 ब्रिटिश राजगद्दी पर महारानी एलिजाबेथ द्वितीय की ताजपोशी हुई। 1947 में एलिजाबेथ की शादी प्रिंस फिलिप से हुई। शादी के बाद से एलिजाबेथ ने शाही परिवार की जिम्मेदारियां संभाल ली थीं। उन दिनों किंग जॉर्ज की तबीयत खराब रहती थी इस कारण तय किया गया कि किंग जॉर्ज की जगह क्वीन एलिजाबेथ और किंग फिलिप अलग-अलग जगहों का दौरा करेंगे। 1952 में एलिजाबेथ अपने पति के साथ ऑस्ट्रेलिया और न्यूजीलैंड के दौरे पर थीं, तभी खबर मिली कि किंग जॉर्ज का निधन हो गया है। उस समय एलिजाबेथ की उम्र 25 साल थीं। यात्रा अधूरी छोड़कर एलिजाबेथ लंदन वापस लौटीं। उन्हें महारानी बनाया गया।

1955 भारत के प्रसिद्ध फिल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक मणि रत्नम (गोपाला रत्नम सुब्रमण्यम) का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध सॉफ्टवेयर कंपनी इन्फोसिस के सह-संस्थापक सदस्यों में से एक नंदन नीलेकणी का जन्म हुआ।

1966 अमेरिका ने अपने पहले ही प्रयास में चांद पर अंतरिक्षयान उतारा।

1967 जर्मन विश्वविद्यालय के छात्र बेनो ओहनेसर्ग को ईरान के शाह, मोहम्मद रजा पहलवी की यात्रा के खिलाफ पश्चिम बर्लिन में प्रदर्शन के दौरान मार डाला गया। ईरानी शाह की यात्रा का विरोध करने वालों को, आतंकवादी समूह कहा गया जिन्होंने 2 जून को विरोध प्रदर्शन किया था और ओहनेसर्ग पर आंदोलन संगठित करने का आरोप था।

1968 हिंदी, मराठी थिएटर, फिल्म और टेलीविजन की जानी मानी कलाकार शुभांगी गोखले का जन्म खामगांव, बुलढाणा, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

1974 माली ने अपना संविधान अपनाया।

1988 शोमैन कहे गये प्रख्यात भारतीय फिल्म निर्माता, निर्देशक, अभिनेता राज कपूर का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन तेजाश्री के नाम से सुपरिचित खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी, मराठी, कन्नड़, तमिल, तेलुगू, गुजराती आदि भाषाओं की फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सोनाली जैकुमार खेले का जन्म पनहाला, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

2003 बर्मा यानी म्यांमार की जनतांत्रिक नेता आन सांग सू ची की गिरफ्तारी के बाद देश की सभी शिक्षण बंद हुईं। इसी दिन यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी की मार्स एक्सप्रेस अंतरिक्ष खोजी यान कजाकिस्तान के बैकोनूर अंतरिक्ष केंद्र प्रक्षेपित किया गया। मार्स एक्सप्रेस एक अंतरिक्ष अन्वेषण मिशन था जो यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी (ईएसए) द्वारा संचालित किया जा रहा था। मार्स एक्सप्रेस मिशन मंगल पर ग्रह की खोज के लिए भेजा गया और यूरोपीय एजेंसी द्वारा अंतरिक्ष अभियान का पहला प्रयास था। एक्सप्रेस गति और दक्षता को संदर्भित करता है जिसके साथ अंतरिक्ष यान डिजाइन और निर्मित किया गया था।

2004 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड आस्ट्रेलियाई मॉडल, टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता और ब्यूटी क्वीन जेनिफर हॉकिन्स मिस यूनिवर्स बनीं।

2005 भारत, रूस और चीन का ब्लादीवोस्तोक सम्मेलन हुआ।

2006 अमेरिका ने माफिया डाॅन दाऊद इब्राहीम तथा उसके संगठन पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।

2008 मध्य प्रदेश के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री अजय विश्नोई ने इस्तीफा दिया। इसी दिन टाटा मोटर्स ने फोर्ड मोटर के दो ब्रांड जगुआर व लैंड रोवर के अधिग्रहण का सौदा किया। इसी दिन भारतीय लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल नरेश कुमार परमार को थल सेना की चिकित्सा सेवा का महानिशेदक नियुक्त किया गया। इसी दिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने इराक में अपना अभियान रोका। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध फैशन गुरु इवेसां लॉरेन का निधन हुआ।

2010 एक अकेले बंदूकधारी ने इंग्लैंड के कुंबरिया में अंधाधुंध गोलीबारी कर 12 लोगों की जान ले ली और 11 अन्य को जख्मी कर दिया। 2010 में इसी दिन केरल के स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और प्रसिद्ध मलयालम उपन्यासकार कंदानिसेरी वट्टमपरंबिल वेलप्पन अय्यप्पन का देहांत हुआ।

2011 ई-कोलाई बैक्टीरिया के संक्रमण से यूरोप में 20 से अधिक लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई और 1600 से अधिक लोग बीमार हो गए। भारत सरकार ने इसी दिन शहरी क्षेत्रों में झुग्गी झोपड़ियों से मुक्ति दिलाने और गरीबों को अपने घर का सपना पूरा कराने में सहायता के लिए राजीव गांधी आवास योजना के पहले चरण को मंजूरी दी।

2012 मिस्र के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति होस्नी मुबारक को 2011 की अरब क्रांति के दौरान प्रदर्शनकारियों की हत्या का आदेश देने के आरोप में उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई गई।

2014 तेलंगाना भारत का 29वां राज्य बना।
