1397 डेनमार्क, स्वीडन और नार्वे ने मिलकर कल्मार संघ की स्थापना की।

1429 डोफिन को फ्रांस का राजा नियुक्त किया गया।

1549 यहूदियों को बेल्जियम के घेंट क्षेत्र से निष्कासित कर दिया गया।

1579 प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश खोजी, नाविक फ्रांसिस ड्रेक वर्तमान अमेरिका की जिस धरती पर समुद्री यात्री जहाज से उतरा उस जगह को उसने न्यू एल्बियन का नाम दिया। यह जगह बाद कैलीफोर्निया कही गई। कैलीफोर्निया टैक्सास और अलास्का के बाद अमेरिका का तीसरा बड़ा राज्य है। इसकी राजधानी सैक्रामेंटो है और सैन डिएगो जैसे कई बड़े शहर इस राज्य में हैं। फेसबुक, माइक्रोसाॅफ्ट और ट्विटर जैसी तमाम तकनीकी कंपनियों के मुख्यालय कैलीफोर्निया राज्य के प्रमुख औद्योगिक-व्यापारिक नगर सैन फ्रांसिस्को में हैं।

1609 नीदरलैंड, इंग्लैंड और फ्रांस ने 12 वर्षों के लिए एक अनुबंध पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1631 मुगल सम्राट शाहजहां और उनकी बेगम मुमताज महल की बड़ी बेटी गौहर आरा का जन्म हुआ। गंभीर, चिंतनशील गौहर ने आगे चलकर पिता के सहयोगी की भूमिका बखूबी निभाई।

1631 आसफ खां की बेटी और मुगल बादशाह मुहम्मद खुर्रम यानी शाहजहां की बेगम मुमताज महल का निधन हुआ। इन्हीं की याद में आगरा में विश्व प्रसिद्ध ताजमहल शाहजहां ने तीमार कराया।

1674 छत्रपति शिवाजी की मां राजमाता जीजाबाई का निधन हुआ।

1712 इंग्लैंड, पुर्तगाल और फ्रांस ने युद्व विराम संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

1734 फ्रांसीसी सैनिकों ने राइन में फिलिप्सबर्ग पर कब्जा किया।

1756 नवाब सिराजउद्दौला ने 50 हजार सैनिकों के साथ कलकत्ता पर आक्रमण किया।

1775 बंकर हिल के युद्ध में ब्रिटिश सेना ने अमेरिका की महाद्वीपीय सेना को हराया।

1799 फ्रांस के शासक नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट ने इटली को अपने साम्राज्य में शामिल किया।

1856 अमेरिका के राजनीतिक दल रिपब्लिकन पार्टी ने अपना पहला राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन फिलाडेल्फिया में आयोजित किया।

1858 झांसी की रानी लक्ष्मीबाई का निधन हुआ।

1862 ब्रिटिश अफसर और कुशल राजनीतिज्ञ, भारत के प्रथम वाइसराय लॉर्ड कैनिंग का निधन हुआ।

1885 स्टैच्यू ऑफ लिबर्टी न्यूयॉर्क हार्बर पहुंची। स्टैच्यू संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में न्यूयॉर्क शहर में न्यूयॉर्क हार्बर में लिबर्टी द्वीप पर स्थापित एक विशाल नवशास्त्रीय मूर्तिकला है। गुस्ताव एफिल द्वारा निर्मित और फ्रांसीसी मूर्तिकार, फ्रैडरिक अगस्टे बरथोल्डी द्वारा डिजाइन की गई तांबे की मूर्ति, 28 अक्टूबर, 1886 को फ्रांस ने अमेरिका को समर्पित की जो फ्रांस का संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका को एक उपहार है। कभी फ्रांस भी अमेरिका के कुछ हिस्सों पर काबिज था।

1887 विख्यात भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ तथा मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री हुए कैलाश नाथ काटजू का जन्म हुआ।

1895 प्रख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता गोपाल गणेश आगरकर का निधन हुआ।

1898 अमेरिका में नेवी हॉस्पिटल कॉर्प की स्थापना की गई।

1903 असम के प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा फिल्म निर्माता ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल का जन्म हुआ।

1917 महात्मा गांधी ने साबरमती आश्रम के हृदय कुंज में अपना निवास बनाया। 1917 इसी दिन ब्रिटिश सम्राट जॉर्ज पंचम ने परिवार का उपनाम बदलकर विंडसर कर दिया। इससे पहले यह शाही परिवार जर्मनी शाही घराने साक्से कोबुर्ग एंड गोथा के नाम से जाना जाता था।

1928 प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रतता संग्राम सेनानी एवं साहित्यकार गोपबंधु दास का निधन हुआ।

1929 सोवियत संघ ने चीन के साथ कूटनीतिक संबंध समाप्त किए।

1930 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी एवं बांग्ला फिल्म अभिनेता अनूप कुमार का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ। यह प्रसिद्ध गायक और अभिनेता किशोर कुमार के भाई थे।

1938 जापान ने चीन के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1942 उत्तराखंड के राजनीतिज्ञ, मुख्यमंत्री रहे भगत सिंह कोश्यारी का जन्म हुआ। कोश्यारी भाजपा ने महाराष्ट्र का राज्यपाल बनाया। उनके फैसले काफी विवादित और किरकिरी कराने वाले रहे। उन्हें कुछ महीने पहले चुपचाप हटा दिया गया।

1944 बंगाल केमिकल्स एंड फार्मास्युटिकल्स के संस्थापक बंगाली रसायनशास्त्री आचार्य प्रफुल्ल चंद्र रे का 82 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ। इसी दिन आइसलैंड ने डेनमार्क से स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की और एक गणतंत्र बन गया। राजशाही समाप्त होने से आइसलैंड के संविधान में बदलाव आया। आइसलैंड के लोगों ने पूर्ण स्वतंत्रता के लिए लंबे संघर्ष के अंत का जश्न मनाया और अपने शुरुआती स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन और आइसलैंड के पहले राष्ट्रपति बने श्वेना ब्योर्नसन धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया। इसी दिन जर्मनी ने द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में समर्पण किया।

1945 प्रसिद्ध कांग्रेस नेता और लोक सभा महासचिव रहे पी.डी.टी. आचार्य का जन्म हुआ।

1950 मिस्त्र, लेबनान, सीरिया और सऊदी अरब ने सुरक्षा संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1958 वर्तमान में सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जज केएम जोसफ का जन्म केरल के अथिरामपुजा में हुआ। उत्तराखंड के मुख्य न्यायाधीश रहते हुए जस्टिस जोसफ ने मोदी सरकार द्वारा राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी की मंजूरी से उत्तराखंड की कांग्रेस की हरीश रावत सरकार गिराए जाने पर सरकार को बहाल करते हुए कहा था कि,राष्ट्रपति राजा नहीं होता। और फ्लोर टेस्ट का आदेश दिया था। बाद में सुप्रीम कोर्ट के लिए जस्टिस जोसफ का चयन होने पर मोदी सरकार ने इनकी नियुक्ति में रोड़े अटकाए थे।

1961 जर्मन इंजीनियर कर्ट टैंक द्वारा डिजाइन किए गए एचएफ-24 मारुत सुपरसोनिक लड़ाकू विमान ने अपनी पहली उड़ान भरी। हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स एचएफ -24 मारुत 1960 के दशक का एक भारतीय लड़ाकू-बमवर्षक, भारत में पहला जेट विमान था।

1963 अमेरिकी सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने स्कूलों में बाइबिल के आवश्यक पठन पर पाबंदी लगाई।

1965 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता मोतीलाल का निधन हुआ।

1967 चीन, हाइड्रोजन बम से संपन्न दुनिया का चौथा देश बना।

1970 हिंदी सिनेमा के मशहूर निर्देशक और अभिनेता निशिकांत कामत का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन शिकागो में पहली बार किडनी प्रत्यारोपण का ऑपरेशन हुआ।

1973 विश्व प्रसिद्ध भारतीय टेनिस खिलाड़ी लिएंडर पेस का जन्म हुआ।

1974 ब्रिटेन की संसद में एक बम धमाके में 11 लोग घायल हुए। इसी दिन लंदन टॉवर में हुए बम धमाके से 41 लोग घायल हो गए।

1976 जानी मानी गायिका, गीत लेखिका, संगीतज्ञ सोना मोहापात्रा का जन्म कटक, उड़ीसा में हुआ।

1980 अमेरिका की विश्व प्रतिष्ठित महिला टेनिस खिलाड़ी वीनस विलियम्स का जन्म हुआ।

1981 लिसा हेडन के नाम से मशहूर, बोल्ड, खूबसूरत बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल एलिजाबेथ मैरी हेडन का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ। इसी दिन मिस्र की राजधानी काहिरा में मुस्लिमों और इसाईयों के बीच संघर्ष में 14 लोग मारे गये।

1985 लोकप्रिय दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री सिंधु मेनन का जन्म बंगलौर, कर्नाटक में हुआ।

1994 शिकागो में फीफा विश्वकप फुटबाल की शुरुआत हुई। इसी दिन 1994 में उत्तरी कोरिया ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी को अपने देश में बने रहने देने को सहमति दी।

1995 सूखा व मरूस्थलीकरण नियंत्रण दिवस या वर्ल्ड डे टू कॉम्बैट डेजर्टिफिकेशन ड्राॅट संयुक्त राष्ट्र के नेतृत्व में पूरी दुनिया में मनाया गया। इसका उद्देश्य मरुस्थलीकरण और सूखे से उत्पन्न परिस्थितियों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना है। मरुस्थलीकरण को रोकने और सूखे से उबरने के तरीकों पर प्रकाश डालना है। इस दिन की घोषणा संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा के प्रस्ताव ए/आरईएस/49/115 द्वारा 30 जनवरी, 1995 को की गई थी। उसके बाद संयुक्त राष्ट्र कन्वेंशन टू कॉम्बैट डेजर्टिफिकेशन का मसौदा तैयार किया गया था। सतत विकास के लिए 2030 एजेंडा घोषित करता है कि हम ग्रह को क्षरण से बचाने के लिए दृढ़ हैं जिसमें स्थायी खपत और उत्पादन के माध्यम से इसके प्राकृतिक संसाधनों का स्थायी प्रबंधन और जलवायु परिवर्तन पर तत्काल कार्रवाई करना शामिल है ताकि यह वर्तमान की जरूरतों का समर्थन कर सके और भावी पीढ़ियां, विशेष रूप 15 फीसदी भूमि पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र और हस्ताक्षरकर्ता देशों के भूमि क्षरण को रोकने और उलटने के संकल्प को पूरा कर सकें। मरुस्थलीकरण और सूखे की चुनौतियों का समाधान करने के लिए, संयुक्त राष्ट्र कन्वेंशन टू कॉम्बैट डेजर्टिफिकेशन यूएनसीसीडी की स्थापना 1994 में की गई थी। यह एकमात्र कानूनी रूप से बाध्यकारी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समझौता है जो पर्यावरण और विकास को स्थायी भूमि प्रबंधन से जोड़ता है। यूएनसीसीडी का उद्देश्य वैश्विक कार्रवाई को गति देना है और मरुस्थलीकरण से निपटने और सूखे के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए राष्ट्रीय कार्य योजनाओं को विकसित करने में देशों का सहयोग करना है। प्रकृति के अंधाधुंध दोहन, हानिकारक रसायनों के अत्यधिक प्रयोग से पानी की कमी और भूमि में प्राकृतिक तत्वों का विनाश हो रहा है जिससे सूखा, जलस्तर में कमी और भूमि की उर्वरा शक्ति का भारी क्षरण हो रहा है।

1999 विश्व कप सेमीफाइनल में ऑस्ट्रेलिया और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बीच मैच टाई रहा। ग्रुप चरण में रन रेट बेहतर होने के कारण ऑस्ट्रेलिया फाइनल में पहुंचा। 1999 में इसी दिन जेकब जुमा दक्षिण अफ्रीका के उपराष्ट्रपति नियुक्त किये गये। 

2002 पाकिस्तान के प्रमुख नगर कराची में अमेरिकी वाणिज्य दूतावास फिर से खोला गया।

2003 फ्रांस में 165 ईरानी आतंकवादी गिरफ्तार किए गये।

2004 मंगल पर पृथ्वी की चट्टानों से मिलते-जुलते पत्थर मिले। इसी दिन इराक की राजधानी बगदाद में सेना की भर्ती केन्द्र पर विस्फोट में 42 मरे तथा 127 घायल।

2008 भारत में विकसित हल्के लड़ाकू विमान तेजस का बंगलौर में सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया गया। इसी दिन रूस ने 2012 तक अपने विनाशकारी रासायनिक हथियारों का जखीरा नष्ट करने की घोषणा की। इसी दिन कनाडा सरकार ने श्रीलंका में अपने अधिकारों के लिए सशस्त्र संघर्ष कर रहे तमिल वर्ल्ड मूवमेंट संगठन को आतंकवादी समूहों की सूची में डाला।

2012 भारतीय टेनिस खिलाड़ी सायना नेहवाल तीसरी बार इंडोनेशिया ओपन चैंपियन बनीं। 2012 में इसी दिन मिस्र के इतिहास में पहली बार राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए आम चुनाव हुए। इसी दिन 2012 में चीन का शनचो-9” अंतरिक्ष यान प्रक्षेपित किए जाने के बाद निश्चित कक्षा में पहुचने में सफल रहा। इसी दिन 2012 में तालिबान ने अपनी वेबसाइट वायस ऑफ जेहाद पर प्रकाशित आलेख में भारत की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा है कि अफगानिस्तान की धरती का उसके खिलाफ इस्तेमाल करने की इजाजत नहीं दी जाएगी।

2015 अमेरिका के दक्षिण कैरोलिना के एक चर्च में एक बंदूकधारी ने ताबड़तोड़ गोलीबारी कर नौ लोगों की हत्या की।

2019 भारत ने 28 अमेरिकी सामानों के आयात पर रिटालिएट्री टैरिफ लगाया।

2020 लद्दाख की गालवान घाटी में 45 वर्षों में पहली बार चीन-भारत सीमा पर चीनी एवं भारतीय सैनिकों के मध्य खूनी झड़प हुई, जिसमें कम से कम 20 भारतीय सैनिक मारे गए। इसके अलावा चीन ने भारतीय सीमा पर चीन ने स्थायी और अस्थाई निर्माण कर लिया। भारत में हंगामा मचने पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने साफ झूठ बोल दिया कि भारतीय क्षेत्र में कोई नहीं घुसा। जबकि चीन के अतिक्रमण के स्पष्ट प्रमाण मौजूद थे।  इस पर कांग्रेस और अन्य विपक्षी दल 2023 में सवाल पूछ रहे हैं। अभी भी लद्दाख की गालवान घाटी में 2020 से पूर्व की स्थिति वापस नहीं लौटी है। 

2022 सेना में संविदा पर युवाओं की भर्ती की मोदी सरकार की योजना अग्निपथ का देश भर में विरोध हो रहा है। यह युवाओं के साथ छल तो है ही देश की सुरक्षा के साथ भी खिलवाड़ है। व्यापक विरोध से देश को आर्थिक और कई अन्य प्रकार से क्षति होती है। तेलंगाना राष्ट्र समिति टीआरएस ने शुक्रवार को केंद्र सरकार से अग्निपथ योजना की समीक्षा की मांग करते हुए कहा कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के नेतृत्व वाली राजग सरकार को इस योजना को लेकर देश भर में हो रहे विरोध की जिम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए। सत्तारूढ़ टीआरएस के कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष और मंत्री के टी रामाराव (केटीआर) ने एक बयान में कहा कि अग्निपथ योजना सशस्त्र बलों में शामिल होकर देश की सेवा करने के इच्छुक लाखों युवाओं की आकांक्षाओं को मार रही हैं। रामाराव ने कहा कि बिना किसी सलाह के भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाली सरकार ने अग्निपथ योजना पर एकतरफा निर्णय लिया है।उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि केंद्र सरकार ने पहले कठोर कृषि कानूनों के साथ किसानों के साथ खिलवाड़ किया था और अब अग्निपथ जैसी योजनाओं से सैनिकों को प्रभावित कर रही हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि यह योजना राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा और युवाओं के भविष्य को खतरे में डाल रही है जो कि देश के लिए खतरा है। देश के युवा केंद्र सरकार और उसकी नीतियों से खुश नहीं है। भाजपा सेना के निजीकरण का प्रयास कर रही है। यह उनकी अक्षमता हो दर्शाता है।

1928 Famous freedom fighter and writer Gopabandhu Das passed away.

1929 Soviet Union ends diplomatic relations with China.

1930 Anoop Kumar, famous Hindi and Bengali film actor, was born in Calcutta. He was the brother of famous singer and actor Kishore Kumar.

1938 Japan declared war on China.

1942 Bhagat Singh Koshyari, politician, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, was born. Koshyari BJP made Governor of Maharashtra. His decisions were quite controversial and gritty. He was quietly dropped a few months ago.
