1630 इंग्लैंड, स्काॅटलैंड और आयरलैंड के 1660 से 1685 तक राजा रहे चार्ल्स द्वितीय का जन्म सेंट जेम्स पैलेस, लंदन में हुआ।

1658 मुगल शासक मुहिउद्दीन मोहम्मद औरंगजेब ने सामूगढ़ की लड़ाई में अपने बड़े भाई दारा शिकोह को हराया और दिल्ली के सत्ता पर कब्जा किया।

1677 मध्य वृक्षारोपण की संधि के तहत वर्जीनिया में विदेशी उपनिवेशवादियों और स्थानीय मूल निवासियों के बीच शांति हुई इस संधि के तहत उन लोगों को गारंटी प्रदान की गई किया जो सहायक जनजाति के रूप में हस्ताक्षरित थे, मतलब कि वे अपने मातृभूमि प्रदेशों, शिकार और मछली पकड़ने और हथियार रखने के अधिकारी होंगे बशर्ते उन्होंने आज्ञाकारिता और अधीनता स्वीकारें।

1906 टीएच व्हाइट के नाम से विश्व प्रसिद्ध लेखक और उपन्यासकार टेरेंस हैनबरी टिम का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इनका निधन 17 जनवरी 1964 को यूनान में हुआ। 29 मई 1906 को ही भारत के प्रमुख लेखक, निबंधकार कन्हैयालाल मिश्र प्रभाकर का जन्म हुआ।

1917 अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति हुए जॉन फिटजेराल्ड कैनेडी का जन्म हुआ।

1919 प्रिकमर्ग गणराज्य हंगरी से आजाद हुआ।

1922 इक्वाडोर को स्वतंत्रता मिली और इसी दिन ब्रिटिश लिबरल सांसद होरटियो बाॅटोमली को धोखाधड़ी करने के जुर्म में 7 साल के लिए नजरबंद कर दिया गया।

1933 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, पत्रकार और संगठनकर्ता लोकराम नयनराम शर्मा का निधन हुआ।

1933 महात्मा गांधी ने अस्पृष्यता के खिलाफ शुरु किया गया अपना 21 दिन का उपवास समाप्त किया। वह दलितों या समुदाय के निम्न जाति के लोगों के अधिकारों के लिए लड़ रहे थे, जिन्हें अछूत माना जाता था और उन्हें पवित्र स्थानों में प्रवेश करने से रोक दिया गया था। सदियो से अधिकारविहीन कर रखा गया था। उन्होंने अछूतों के लिए हरिजन शब्द गढ़ा।

1947 भारतीय मानक संस्थान यानी इंडियन स्टैंडर्ड इंस्टीट्यूट आईएसआई की स्थापना की गई।

1968 भारत के विख्यात पहलवान दारा सिंह रंधावा ने पहलवानी में विश्व चैंपियनशिप पर कब्जा किया।

1970 साम्यवादी देश सोवियत संघ ने भूमिगत परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1972 प्रख्यात भारतीय रंगकर्मी और भारतीय सिनेमा कीे प्रमुख हस्ती, पद्मभूषण और दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार प्राप्त, बंबई में पृथ्वी थिएटर के संस्थापक पृथ्वी राजकपूर का निधन हुआ।

1977 भारत के प्रसिद्ध भाषाविद, साहित्यकार तथा विद्याशास्त्री सुनीति कुमार चटर्जी का निधन हुआ।

1979 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भारतीय टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा श्वेता गुलाटी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1980 लोकप्रिय तमिल, तेलुगू और कन्नड़ की फिल्मों की गायिका ऊषा का जन्म तेलंगाना के नालगोंडा जिले के नागार्जुन सागर विधान सभा क्षेत्र में हुआ।

1985 यूरोपीय फुटबॉल कप के एक मैच के दौरान दो टीम प्रशंसक समूहों के बीच हुई झड़प में 39 लोगों की मौत हो गई और अनेक लोग घायल हो गये।

1987 जनता पार्टी शासन (1977) की सरकार के आखिरी समय में अल्प समय के लिए भारत के प्रधानमंत्री रहे प्रमुख राजनेता चौधरी चरण सिंह का निधन हुआ।

1987 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड और दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की अभिनेत्री और माॅडल अनुप्रिया गोयनका का जन्म कानपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1988 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सुरभि ज्योति का जालंधर में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन 1988 में जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सिमरन कौर हुंदल का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन पाकिस्तान के सैन्य शासक, राष्ट्रपति जनरल जिया उल हक ने सरकार को बर्खास्त कर संसद को भंग किया।

1990 दक्षिणी अमेरिकी देश पेरू में आए विनाशकारी भीषण भूकंप में सैकड़ों लोगों की जान गई और भारी नुकसान हुआ। इसी दिन बोरिस येल्तसिन सोवियत संघ के राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित हुए। इसी दिन यूरोपीय बैंक पुनर्निर्माण और विकास ईबीआरडी की स्थापना हुई।

1996 बेंजामिन नेतन्याहू इजराइल के प्रधानमंत्री बने।

1999 अंतरिक्ष यान डिस्कवरी अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से जुड़ा, डिस्कवरी यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाला पहला अंतरिक्ष यान बना।

1999 नाइजीरिया में नई सत्ता व्यवस्था स्थापित हुई।

2002 अंतरिक्ष खोजी यान मार्स ओडिसी को मंगल ग्रह पर बड़ी मात्रा में बर्फ जमा होने के संकेत मिले। मार्स ओडिसी एक रोबोटिक अंतरिक्ष यान है जो मंगल ग्रह की परिक्रमा कर रहा है। इस परियोजना को नासा द्वारा विकसित किया गया था, और लॉकहीड मार्टिन को अनुबंधित किया गया था। इसका मिशन अतीत या वर्तमान में पानी और बर्फ के सबूतों का पता लगाने के लिए स्पेक्ट्रोमीटर और एक थर्मल इमेजर का उपयोग करना है, ग्रह के भूविज्ञान और विकिरण पर्यावरण का अध्ययन करना है।

2002 की 29 मई को पहली बार अंतरराष्ट्रीय संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति रक्षक दिवस मनाया गया। 29 मई 2010 को तीन भारतीय सैनिकों संजय कुमार, विजय सुभाष और बलजीत सिंह को मरणोपरांत डैग हमर्सकोल्ड मेडल सम्मान प्रदान किया गया। ये तीनों दक्षिणी सूडान और कांगो में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के शांति सैनिकों के रूप में लड़ते हुए मारे गये थे। यह दिवस संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति रक्षक दल में शामिल लोगों के प्रति सम्मान प्रदर्शित करने हेतु है।

2003 ब्रिटेन के प्रधानमंत्री टोनी ब्लेयर इराक के पुनर्निर्माण कार्यों का जायजा लेने के लिए बसरा पहुँचे। मार्च 2003 में अमेरिका के नेतृत्व में ब्रिटेन और कुछ अन्य देशों की फौजों ने इराक में जबरदस्त तबाही मचाई थी।

2005 प्रतिवर्ष वैश्विक स्तर पर 29 मई को विश्व पाचन स्वास्थ्य दिवस मनाया जाता है। इसका मकसद है, लोगों को पाचन तंत्र के महत्व के बारे में बताना। शरीर में पाचन संबंधी समस्या, इसके रोकथाम के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए विश्व गैस्ट्रोएंटरोलॉजी संगठन द्वारा इस दिन को बढ़ावा दिया गया था। विश्व गैस्ट्रोएंटरोलॉजी संगठन ने 31 मई, 2004 को निर्णय लिया कि आगे चलकर इस दिन को विश्व पाचन स्वास्थ्य दिवस के रूप में जाना जाएगा। पहली बार विश्व पाचन स्वास्थ्य दिवस 29 मई 2005 को मनाया गया।

2008 भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता वीएस येदियुरप्पा ने कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री पद शपथ ली। दुनिया के सबसे बड़े इंटरनेट सर्च इंजन गूगल ने सोशल नेटवर्किंग वेबसाइट माइस्पेस के साथ ई-मेल विषयक समझौता किया। नेपाल सरकार ने राजतंत्र का अंत कर गणतंत्र की घोषणा करते हुए शाही महलों समेत देश के सभी भागों से राजतंत्र के सभी चिह्न हटाते हुए राष्ट्रध्वज को मान्यता दी।

2007 जापान की रियो मोरी को मिस यूनिवर्स चुना गया।

2010 भारत और अमेरिका के बीच सितंबर 2008 में हुए 123 अनुबंध छोड़ दिए गए और परमाणु ईंधन की रिप्रोसेसिंग के पहलू पर अमेरिकी प्रशासन ने सहमति का ऐलान किया। भारत की राष्ट्रपति श्रीमती प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटिल ने चीन के हेनान प्रांत के लुओयांग में पहली सदी के प्राचीन व्हाइट हार्स अर्थात श्वेताश्व मंदिर परिसर में भारतीय शैली से निर्मित बौद्ध मंदिर को लोकार्पित किया। भारत द्वारा बनाये गये इस मंदिर पर करीब 18 करोड़ रुपये की लागत लगी। इसके निर्माण में तीन वर्ष लगे।

2015 भारत के दक्षिणी राज्य आंध्र प्रदेश, तेलंगाना में भीषण गर्मी के प्रकोप से 1800 से अधिक लोगों की मौत हुई और हजारों लोग बीमार हुए।

2018 तमिलनाडु सरकार ने पर्यावरण और स्वास्थ्य के लिए हो रहे नुकसान के कारण, लंबे आंदोलन और कई आंदोलनकारियों की मौत के बाद स्टरलाईट कॉर्पोरेशन संयत्र को स्थाई रूप से बंद करने का आदेश दिया। इसी दिन 2018 में पूर्व प्रधान न्यायाधीश नसीर उल मुल्क को पाकिस्तान का कार्यवाहक प्रधानमंत्री बनाया गया।

2020 हिंदी फिल्म जगत के प्रख्यात गीतकार और लेखक योगेश का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रमुख राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री रहे अजीत जोगी का निधन हुआ।
