1712 न्यूयॉर्क में दास विद्रोह में छह गोरे लोग मारे गए और 21 अफ्रीकी अमेरिकी घायल हुए।

1805 विश्व विख्यात जर्मन संगीतकार लुडविग वान बीथोवेन ने डेर विएन थिएटर में अपनी लोकप्रिय संगीत प्रस्तुति थर्डसिमोनी का प्रीमियर किया।

1818 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में सबसे पुराने कपड़ो के व्यापारियों ब्रुक्स ब्रदर्स ने न्यूयॉर्क शहर में कैथरीन और चेरी स्ट्रीट्स के पूर्वोत्तर कोने पर अपना पहला स्टोर खोला।

1818 ब्रिटिश सरकार ने भारत में बिना मुकदमे के लोगों को निर्वासित करने और हिरासत में रखने वाला कानून बंगाल स्टेट प्रिजनर्स रेगुलेशन एक्ट पेश किया। यह कानून देश की आजादी तक प्रभावी रहा।

1836 अंग्रेज विज्ञानवादी दार्शनिक, ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय में ह्वाइट प्रोफेसर थॉमस हिल ग्रीन का जन्म हुआ।

1915 विख्यात अमेरिकी गायिका और अभिनेत्री बिली हॉलिडे का जन्म हुआ।

1919 पद्मश्री सम्मान प्राप्त करने वाले प्रख्यात उर्दू शायर, कथाकार और लघु कथा लेखक कश्मीरी लाल जाकिर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन बाबेरियन सोवियत गणराज्य की स्थापना हुई।

1920 भारत के प्रसिद्ध सितार वादक पंडित रवि शंकर का जन्म हुआ।

1921 क्रांतिकारी नेता सुनयात सेन चीनी गणतंत्र के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति बने।

1922 क्यूबा के विश्व विख्यात संगीतकार (वाटरमेलन मैन) माँगो सैंटामारिया का जन्म हुआ।

1923 हिंदी फिल्मों की मशहूर चरित्र अभिनेत्री मुमताज बेगम का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। वे चौदहवीं का चांद, बरसात की रात, मेरे महबूब आदि अनेक लोकप्रिय फिल्मों में नजर आईं।

1929 पहली वाणिज्यिक हवाई उड़ान भारत पहुंची, जब ब्रिटेन के इंपीरियल एयरवेज की लंदन-काहिरा सेवा को कराची तक बढ़ाया गया।

1939 इटली ने दूसरे विश्वयुद्ध के दौरान अल्बानिया पर कब्जा किया।

1940 बुकर टी वाशिंगटन अमेरिकी डाकटिकट पर छपने वाले पहले अश्वेत अमेरिकी बने।

1942 जितेंद्र के नाम से सुपरिचित लोकप्रिय हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता रवि कपूर का जन्म अमृतसर में हुआ।

1946 सीरिया को फ्रांस की गुलामी से आजादी मिली। इसी दिन 1948 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की स्वास्थ्य मामलों की एजेंसी विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन यानी डब्ल्यूएचओ वल्र्ड हैल्थ आॅर्गनाइजेशन की स्थापना हुई। इसीलिए 7 अप्रैल के दिन को विश्व स्वास्थ्य दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन दुनिया भर की स्वास्थ्य संबंधी समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए आपसी सहयोग एवं मानक विकसित करने का दायित्व निभाता है। दुनिया के तमाम देश विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के सदस्य हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की इस अनुषांगिक इकाई का मुख्यालय स्विटजरलैंड के जेनेवा शहर में है।

1951 जाने माने भारतीय फिल्मकार राहुल रवैल का जन्म हुआ।

1956 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चार्टर्ड एकाउंटेंट टीएन मनोहरन का जन्म हुआ। वे भारत के चार्टर्ड एकाउंटेंट्स संस्थान के अध्यक्ष और भारत में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के चौथे सबसे बड़े बैंक केनरा बैंक के अध्यक्ष हुए।

1962 जाने माने भारतीय वैज्ञानिक और आविष्कारक उद्धव भराली का जन्म असम के उत्तरी लखिमपुर जिले में हुआ। जुलाई 2012 में उनके द्वारा आविष्कृत अनार के बीज निकालने वाले यंत्र के लिए नासा द्वारा अयोजित क्रियेट द फ्यूचर डिजाइन प्रतियोगिता में दूसरे स्थान के लिये निर्वाचित किया गया। उद्धव के पास 39 आविष्कारो का पेटेन्ट है। इसी दिन जाने माने भारतीय फिल्मकार रामगोपाल वर्मा का जन्म हुआ।

1967 जानी मानी खूबसूरत टेलीविजन और फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल शगुफ्ता अली का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। 

1969 अमेरिकी सेना की एक परियोजना के रूप में इंटरनेट का जन्म हुआ।

1978 अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति जिमी कार्टर ने विवादास्पद न्यूट्रॉन बम के विकांस और उत्पादन कार्य पर रोक लगाई।

1988 अमेरिका ने नेवादा परीक्षण केंद्र में परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1989 दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल संचिता शेट्टी का जन्म मंगलौर, कर्नाटक में हुआ।

1994 रवांडा के राष्ट्रपति जुवेनल हेव्यारिमाना एवं बुरुंडी के राष्ट्रपति सिप्रियन न्तायमिटा की किगाली हवाई अड्डे पर राकेट हमले में मौत हुई।

1998 विश्व स्वास्थ्य दिवस को महिला चिकित्सा दिवस के रूप में मनाने की विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने की घोषणा।

2000 भारत में दिल्ली पुलिस ने करोड़ों रुपए के क्रिकेट मैच फिक्सिंग और सट्टेबाजी के रैकेट का पर्दाफाश किया था। दिल्ली पुलिस ने पूर्व दक्षिण अफ्रीकी कप्तान हैंसी क्रोनिए के मैच फिक्सिंग में शामिल होने का खुलासा किया। जांच के बाद क्रोनिए पर आजीवन प्रतिबंध लगा था।

2000 ब्राजील से विश्व के सबसे छोटे अखबार योर आनर का प्रकाशन प्रारंभ हुआ।

2003 अमेरिकी सेना ने इराक की राजधानी बगदाद को अपने नियंत्रण में लिया।

2004 एमनेस्टी इंटरनेशनल द्वारा जारी रिपोर्ट में मौत की सजा देने में चीन, ईरान व अमेरिका को सबसे आगे बताया गया। इसी दिन क्वालालंमपुर में म्यांमार दूतावास के शरणार्थियों को आग के हवाले किया।

2008 असम में प्रतिअबंधित उग्रपंथी संगठन उल्फा ने अपना 30वाँ स्थापना दिवस मनाया। इसी दिन दो दिवसीय भारत-अफ्रीका पहली शिखर बैठक नई दिल्ली में प्रारंम हुई। इसी दिन पेरिस में रिले दौड़ के दौरान भारी हंगामे व विरोध प्रदर्शन के बीच ओलंपिक खेलों की मशाल पांच बार बुझानी पड़ी।

2010 पटना की विशेष अदालत के न्यायाधीश विजय प्रकाश मिश्र ने बिहार में तेरह साल पहले 1 दिसंबर 1997 को प्रतिबंधित संगठन रणवीर सेना द्वारा अरवल जिले के लक्ष्मणपुर और बाथे गांवों में 58 दलितों के नरसंहार के मामले में 16 दोषियों को फाँसी और 10 को उम्र कैद की सजा सुनाई। आजीवन कारावास की सजा पाने वाले सभी दोषियों को 50-50 हजार रुपए का जुर्माना भरने का भी आदेश दिया गया।

2011 प्रसिद्ध कवि जानकी वल्लभ शास्त्री का निधन हुआ।

2012 पूर्वी काराकोरम इलाके के सियाचिन के पास गयारी सेक्टर में हिमस्खलन से 130 से भी ज्यादा पाकिस्तानी सैनिक दबकर मर गए।

2014 हिंदी फिल्मों के प्रसिद्ध सिनेमेटोग्राफर वी. के. मूर्ति का निधन हुआ।

2015 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी अभिनेता जियोफरे लेविस का निधन। इसी दिन दक्षिण अफ्रीकी बल्लेबाज एबी डिविलियर्स ने 16 गेंदों में अर्धशतक लगाकर श्रीलंकाई क्रिकेट शनत जयसूर्या का रिकॉर्ड तोड़ा।

Uddhav holds patents for 39 inventions. Renowned Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was born on this day.

1967 Shagufta Ali, well-known television and film actress and model, was born in Bombay.

1969 The Internet was born as a project of the US military.
