1974 A group of farmers in China's Shaanxi province unearth a collection of terracotta figurines depicting the armies of the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, known as the Terracotta Army. The Terracotta Army is an army of 8,000 soldiers made of clay. These life-size warriors made of clay were created around 2000 years ago to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. About 38 years ago, on March 29, 1974, some farmers were digging a well in China's Shanxi province, when they saw soldiers made of clay. After this, excavation was done in a very large area around it. Thousands of clay soldiers were found in this excavation. Several years of archaeological excavations have found 2 thousand soldiers of the Terracotta Army, while it is believed that about 6 thousand more soldiers are still buried inside. In another excavation carried out in January 2020, 200 more clay soldiers were recovered. Along with clay soldiers, 130 chariots were also found, which are seen to be pulled by 520 horses. 1500 horse riders have also been found in these clay soldiers. The design of these soldiers overwhelms that the builders must have been very knowledgeable and skilled. These clay soldiers were made after the death of Qin Shi Huang, king of China in 210-209 BC. Shi Huang unified China in 221 BCE. Shi Huang is counted among the great rulers of China. Huang is credited with many great works, from the construction of the Great Wall of China to the creation of a nationwide road network. The height of these soldiers made of clay is different. It is also visible from their faces and dresses that their roles are also different. None of these soldiers have the same face and they are 5, 6 and 7 feet tall. This shows how finely these soldiers are made. The head, torso, arms and legs of the Terracotta Army clay figures were first prepared separately and then joined together. After joining, they were strengthened by firing. Due to this, these clay effigies look so real that they will be able to speak now. Soldiers of the Terracotta Army stand in three pits 23 feet deep. The first pit is 750 feet long and about 203 feet wide, in which the maximum number of 6,000 soldiers are stationed. The first pit has 11 corridors, most of which are more than 10 feet wide.
