222 रोमन सम्राट मार्कुस औरेलियस एंटोनिनस एल्गाबालस को रोमन परंपराओं और यौन वर्जनाओं की अवहेलना करने आरोप में प्रेटोरियन यानी शासन चलाने हेतु बनी सर्वोच्च शक्तिशाली लोगों की परिषद के आदेश पर सेना ने एल्गाबालस को उसकी मां जूलिया सोएमियास की हत्या कर शरीरों को विकृत किया और तिबर नदी में फेंक दिया।

1399 तुर्को-मंगोल साम्राज्यवादी शासक तैमूर लंग ने भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में प्रवेश करते हुए सिंधु नदी पार की।

1669 इटली में एटना ज्वालामुखी फटने से 15 हजार लोगों की मौत हुई।

1689 मुगल बादशाह औरंगजेब की कैद में छत्रपति शिवाजी के पुत्र संभाजी की हत्या हुई।

 

1702 विश्व के प्रथम दैनिक समाचार पत्र दि डेली कौरंट का प्रकाशन शुरू किया गया। सिंगल शीट पर दो कालम के इस अखबार में एक तरफ खबरें और दूसरी ओर विज्ञापन होते थे। इसे अंग्रेज महिला एलिजाबेथ मालेट ने लंदन से प्रकाशित किया।

1779 पहली बार अमेरिकी सेना ने कोर इंजीनियर्स की स्थापना की।

1810 फ्रांस के योद्धा नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट ने ऑस्ट्रिया की मैरी-लुईस से शादी की।

1840 अग्रणी बांग्ला कवि, संगीतज्ञ, दार्शनिक एवं गणितज्ञ द्विजेंद्रनाथ टैगोर का कलकत्ता में जन्म हुआ।

1851 इतालवी रोमांटिक संगीतकार ग्यूसेप वार्डी के ओपेरा रिगोलेट्टो को पहली बार वेनिस के ला फेनिस में प्रदर्शित किया गया।

1863 बड़ौदा राजघराने में सयाजीराव गायकवाड़ का जन्म हुआ। यह 1875 से 1939 तक बड़ौदा के राजा रहे।

1864 इंग्लैंड के शेफील्ड में डेल डाइक बांध में पानी के अत्यधिक दबाव से दरार पड़ गई और इसके परिणामस्वरूप अत्यधिक पानी के बहाव से बाढ़ आ गई जिसने 238 लोगों की जान ली और 600 से अधिक घरों को तहस-नहस कर दिया।

1881 विख्यात सामाजिक और राजनीतिक, चिंतक रामनाथ टैगोर की प्रतिमा कलकत्ता के टाउन हॉल में स्थापित की गई।

1895 स्पेन के जहाज रीना रीगेंटा के जिब्राल्टर में डूबने से 400 यात्रियों की मौत हुई।

1915 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी विजय हजारे का जन्म हुआ।

1917 बगदाद (इराक की राजधानी) पर ब्रिटिश सेना ने कब्जा किया।

1918 मास्को रूस की राजधानी बनी। इस बदले गये स्थान से शासन के कामकाज शुरु हुए। पहले राजघराना था और शासन सेंट पीटर्सबर्ग से चलता था।

1927 रेमन मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार विजेता प्रसिद्ध भारतीय महिला चिकित्सक, कैंसर विशेषज्ञ वी. शांता का मइलापुर, मद्रास में जन्म हुआ।

1935 कनाडा के केंद्रीय बैंक बैंक आॅफ कनाडा की स्थापना हुई।

1942 पटियाला राजघराने में अमरिंदर सिंह का जन्म हुआ। कुछ साल पहले तक अमरिंदर सिंह कांग्रेस में थे और पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री रहे।

1948 भारत के पहले आधुनिक जल पोत जलऊषा का विशाखापट्टनम में जलावतरण हुआ। सेठ वालचंद हीराचंद ने 1941 में सिंधिया स्टीम नेविगेशन कंपनी लिमिटेड बनाई थी। इसे ही आज हिंदुस्तान शिपयार्ड लिमिटेड के रूप में जाना जाता है। शिपयार्ड के लिए नींव का पत्थर 21 जून 1941 को उस समय कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष रहे डॉ. राजेंद्र प्रसाद ने रखा था, जा भारत के पहले रष्ट्रपति हुए स्वतंत्रता के बाद पूरी तरह भारत में निर्मित पहले पोत को सिंधिया शिपयार्ड में बनाया गया था। उसका नाम जलऊषा रखा गया था। 11 मार्च 1948 को भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू की मौजूदगी में इसका जलावतरण हुआ।

1949 जाने माने सुन्नी इस्लामी राजनीतिज्ञ, जनता दल और समाजवादी पार्टी में रहे, राज्यसभा सदस्य रहे ओबेदुल्लाह खान आज़मी का जन्म आज़मगढ़ उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

 

1954 विख्यात और बेहतरीन हिंदी पत्रकार, वक्ता, टेलीविजन शो निर्माता, शो प्रस्तोता, वार्ताकार, राजनीतिक विष्लेषक, चुनाव विष्लेषक, दूरदर्शन ओर एनडीटीवी में कार्यक्रम निदेशक रहे विनोद दुआ का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ। वे पहले इलैक्ट्राॅनिक मीडिया पत्रकार बने जिन्हें प्रतिष्ठित रामनाथ गोयनका पत्रकारिता पुरस्कार मिला। उन्हें भारत सरकार का सम्मान पद्श्री सहित तमाम सम्मान और पुरस्कार मिले। इसी दिन टाइम्स आॅफ इंडिया समूह की मालिक कंपनी बेनेट कोलमैन एंड कंपनी के प्रबंध निदेशक समीर जैन का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ।

1955 स्कॉटिश वैज्ञानिक सर अलेक्जेंडर फ्लेमिंग को चिकित्सा का नोबेल पुरस्कार दिया गया।

1958 भारत के एक अमीर कारोबारी डिजीटल ट्रांसफाॅर्मेशन कंनी माइक्रोलैंड के संस्थापक और अध्यक्ष प्रदीप कार का जन्म हुआ।

1961 छत्तीसगढ़, आंध्र प्रदेश और सिक्किम उच्च न्यायालयों के मुख्य न्यायाधीश रहे अरूप कुमार गोस्वामी का जन्म असम के जोरहाट में हुआ। इसी दिन सऊदी अरब के राष्ट्र प्रमुख शेख मोहम्मद बिन जायद अल नाह्यान का जन्म हुआ।

1963 सोमालिया ने ब्रिटेन के साथ राजनयिक संबंध समाप्त किये।

1966 जाने माने भारतीय पाॅप सिंगर और पार्श्व गायक मोहित चौहान का जन्म नाहन, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ।

1980 प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री हुए चन्द्रभानु गुप्त का निधन हुआ।

1981 चिली में संविधान लागू हुआ।

 

1984 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बेहद बोल्ड माॅडल, टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं वीडियो जाॅकी पूजा मिश्रा का जन्म मुंगेर, बिहार में हुआ।

1985 मिखाएल सर्गेइविच गोर्बाचेव सोवियत संघ के सर्वोच्च नेता यानी सोवियत कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के महासचिव और राष्ट्रपति बने।

1986 रोम की स्थापना हुए 1 मिलियन दिन बीते। इटली की राजधानी है रोम।

1990 लिथुआनिया ने स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की।

 

1991 कांग्रेस और भाजपा के राज्यसभा सदस्य रहे कारोबारी, वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली को पहले से बताकर बैंकों का करीब 9000 करोड़ रुपया मारकर लंदन भाग जाने वाले विजय माल्या की कंपनी किंगफिशर की कैलेंडर गर्ल, अपनी अर्धनग्न तस्वीरों के लिए सुर्खियां बटोरने वाली, बेहद बोल्ड माॅडल और अभिनेत्री पूनम पांडेय का जन्म कानपुर में हुआ। इसी दिन मुंबई में फिल्म अभिनेता और माॅडल पार्थ समथान का जन्म हुआ।

 

1996 विवादित उपन्यास सैटेनिक वर्सेज लिखने पर विख्यात लेखक सलमान रुश्दी के विरुद्ध जारी फतवा ईरान ने वापस लिया। ईरान के सर्वोच्च नेता अली खुमैनी ने रुश्दी का सिर कलम करने वाले को एक करोड़ रुपये ईनाम देने की घोषणा की थी। रुश्दी के विरोधियों का कहना है कि उन्होंने उपन्यास में पैगंबर मोहम्मद के बारे में गलत बातें लिखी हैं। विरोधियों के अनुसार कुरान की आयतें को रुश्दी ने सैटेनिक वर्सेस यानी शैतान की आयतें करार दिया है।

1999 इंफोसिस कंपनी पहली भारतीय कंपनी है जो अमेरिका स्थित अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्टॉक एक्सचेंज नैसडैक में सूचीबद्ध हुई।

2001 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव कोफी अन्नान की एशिया के चार देशों की यात्रा पाकिस्तान से शुरु हुई, अन्नान ने कश्मीर पर भारत के रुख से सहमति जताई। बौद्ध प्रतिमाओं के ध्वंस के संबंध में तालिबान ने अन्नान का अनुरोध ठुकराया। इसी दिन भारत के प्रख्यात बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी पुलेला गोपीचंद विश्व चैंपियन बने।

2004 स्पेन में तीन रेलवे स्टेशनों पर हुए बम विस्फोटों में 190 मरे, 1200 घायल हुए।

2006 यूनानी संसद ने दाह-संस्कार को अनुमति देने वाला कानून बहुमत से पारित किया।

2007 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय रेसिंग ड्राइवर सुनिता ने कोलकाता से वाघा तक के 2,012 किमी के सफर को रिवर्स गियर में गाड़ी चलाकर तय किया।

2008 पाकिस्तान के लाहौर में हुए दो आत्मघाती विस्फोटों में 26 लोग मारे गये। इसी दिन 2008 में अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा के यान एंडेवर ने अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन की ओर प्रस्थान किया। 2008 में इसी दिन मेघालय में 8वीं विधानसभा के 57 सदस्यों ने शपथ ली।

2011 भीषण भूकंप आया और इसके बाद समुद्र में उठी प्रलंयकारी सुनामी ने जापान में खूब तबाही मचाई। जापान में प्रशांत तट पर तोहोकू के पास समुद्र में रिक्टर पैमाने पर 9 तीव्रता का भीषण भूकंप था।
