664 प्रसिद्ध चीनी बौद्ध भिक्षु ह्वेन त्सांग का निधन चीन लुओयांग में निधन हुआ। इनका शुरुआती नाम चेन हुई था। चीन में इन्हें जुआनजंग कहा जाता है। ह्वेन त्सांग हर्षवर्द्धन के शासन काल में भारत आए और यहां 15 वर्ष रहे। अपनी पुस्तक सी-यू-की में अपनी यात्रा तथा तत्कालीन भारत का विवरण ह्वेन त्सांग ने दिया है। इससे हर्षकालीन भारत की सामाजिक, आर्थिक, धार्मिक तथा सांस्कृतिक अवस्था का पता मिलता है। ह्वेन त्सांग विश्व प्रसिद्ध चीनी विद्वान, यात्री, अनुवादक हुए।

1377 में माघ पूर्णिमा को वाराणसी के नजदीक गांव सीर गोवर्धन में रविदास का जन्म हुआ। रविदास दलित वर्ग में पैदा हुए 14वीं सदी के विख्यात भक्ति कवि, संत और समाज सुधारक हुए। इस बार माघ पूर्णिमा 5 फरवरी को है, इसलिए आज संत रविदास को मानने वाले उनका जन्म दिन मना रहे हैं।

1679 जर्मन शासक लियोपोल्ड प्रथम ने फ्रांस के साथ शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये।

1782 स्पेन की सेना ने ब्रिटिश सेना को हराकर मिनोरका पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1783 इटली के कालाब्रिया में आए भीषण भूकंप से 30000 लोग मारे गये।

1811 प्रिंस ऑफ वेल्स जॉर्ज तृतीय अपने पिता के विक्षिप्त होने की वजह से यूनाइटेड किंगडम के प्रिंस रीजेंट यानी राजा बन गए।

1855 लॉर्ड पामरस्टोन यूनाइटेड किंगडम के प्रधानमंत्री बने।

1870 अमेरिका के फिलाडेल्फिया के एक थियेटर में पहली बार दर्शकों को चलचित्र दिखाया गया।

1900 अमेरिका और ब्रिटेन के मध्य पनामा नहर समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए। यूनाइटेड किंगडम और संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने एक केंद्रीय अमेरिकी शिपिंग नहर के निर्माण के लिए मध्य अमेरिका, निकारागुआ में एक संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किये। इसी दिन लियो बैकलैंड ने बेकेलिट हार्ड थर्मोसेटिंग प्लास्टिक के निर्माण की घोषणा की।

1904 क्यूबा अमेरिका के कब्जे से आजाद हुआ।

1905 महाराष्ट्र के अहमदनगर में अच्युत पट्वर्धन का जन्म हुआ। वे प्रमुख स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, शिक्षक, आंदोलनकारी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और 1947 में समाजवादी पार्टी के संस्थापक हुए।

1916 विख्यात कन्नड़ साहित्यकार और 1978 में साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त बी. जी. एल. स्वामी यानी बंगलुरू गुंडप्पा लक्ष्मीनारायण स्वामी का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1917 मैक्सिको ने नया संविधान अंगीकृत किया।

1919 जाने माने भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस पार्टी के नेता और कर्नाटक तथा गोवा के राज्यपाल हुए खुर्शीद आलम खां का जन्म हुआ।

1922 भारत के विख्यात आधुनिक मूर्तिकार, चित्रकार, कवि और मूर्ति कला शिक्षक पद्मभूषण सम्मान प्राप्त अमर नाथ सहगल का जन्म पाकिस्तान के अट्टोक में हुआ। इसी दिन अंतरराष्ट्रीय ज्ञान, विज्ञान, सूचनाओं और मनोरंजन की पत्रिका रीडर्स डाइजेस्ट की प्रथम प्रति प्रकाशित हुई।

1923 इटली में समाजवादियों और वामपंथियों की गिरफ्तारी हुई।

1924 रेडियो समय संकेतक का पहली बार प्रसारण रायल ग्रीनविच, ब्रिटेन से हुआ। ब्रिटेन में आधे साल ग्रीनविच मेन टाइम यानी जीएमटी और आधे साल बीएसटी यानी ब्रिटिश स्टेंर्ड टाइम लागू होता है। भारत और इंग्लैंड के मध्य आधा साल साड़े चार घंटे और आधा साल साड़े पांच घंटे का अंतर रहता है।

1931 अमेरिकन महिला मैक्सिने डनलप बेन्नेट पहली ग्लाइडर पायलट बनी। वह अमेरिका के प्लीजेंटन, कैलिफोर्निया में जन्मी थी।

1932 शंख घोष का जन्म हुआ। वे प्रसिद्ध बांग्ला कवि, आलोचक एवं शिक्षाविद हुए।

1933 भारत में काॅरपोरेट अस्पताल श्रंख्ला शुरु करने वाले प्रमुख स्वास्थ्य-चिकित्सा कारोबारी, अपोलो अस्पताल समूह के मुखिया प्रताप चंद्र रेड्डी का जन्म आंध्र प्रदेश के अरागोंडा में हुआ।

1936 पद्मश्री सम्मान प्राप्त विख्यात कन्नड़ कवि और लेखक कोक्कारे होसाहल्ली शेख हैदर निसार अहमद का जन्म देवनहल्ली में हुआ।

1951 फेडरेश आॅफ इंडियन रेशनलिस्ट एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष, 1976 में कर्नाटक में दक्षिण कन्नड रेशनलिस्ट एसोसिएशन स्थापित करने वाले प्रख्यात तर्कवादी नरेंद्र नायक का जन्म मंगलौर में हुआ।

1953 मनोरंजन की दुनिया की शीर्ष कंपनी वॉल्ट डिज्नी की फीचर फिल्म पीटर पैन का प्रीमियर हुआ।

1961 प्रतिष्ठित ब्रिटिश समाचार पत्र संडे टेलीग्राफ के पहले संस्करण का प्रकाशन हुआ।

1964 गोल्डन ग्लोब और प्राइमटाइम ग्रेमी अवार्ड प्राप्त विख्यात अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री तथा गायिका लौरा लिनी का जन्म मेनहट्टन, न्यूयार्क, अमेरिका में हुआ।

1970 जाने माने बांग्ला फिल्म निर्माता, निर्देशक और लेखक पीजूश साहा का जन्म हुआ।

1972 अमेरिकन एयरलाइंस ने यात्रियों और सामानों की जांच की शुरआत की।

1976 बिग बी अमिताभ बच्चन और जया बच्चन के बेटे जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता और माॅडल अभिषेक बच्चन का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1985 पुर्तगाल के विश्व प्रसिद्ध फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी क्रिस्टियानो रोनाल्डो का जन्म हुआ।

1986 भारत के जाने माने फैशन डिजाइनर गोविंद कुमार सिंह का जन्म सुपौल, बिहार में हुआ।

1987 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड कन्नड़ फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल सिंधू लोकनाथ का जन्म कोडागू, कर्नाटक में हुआ।

1990 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी भुवनेश्वर प्रसाद का जन्म मेरठ, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1992 ब्राजील के विश्व प्रसिद्ध फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी नेमार का जन्म हुआ।

1993 बेल्जियम एकाधिकारवादी साम्राज्य के स्थान पर एक संघीय राजतंत्र बना।

1994 सरायेवो के बाजार में नरसंहार हुआ। सरायेवो के मुख्य बाजार में एक मोर्टार बम के फटने से 68 लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और 200 लोग घायल हुए।

1995 बाॅलीवुड की जानी मानी, बोल्ड गायिका, संगीतज्ञ एवं गीत लेखिका अनमोल मलिक का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। वे जाने माने गायक अनु मलिक की बेटी हैं।

1998 भारत की मशहूर वेब डिजायनर श्रीलक्ष्मी सुरेश का जन्म कोझिकोड़, केरल में हुआ।

2004 पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ ने परमाणु प्रौद्योगिकी के गलत इस्तेमाल के मामले में परमाणु वैज्ञानिक अब्दुल कादिर खान को माफी दी।

2006 ईरान ने यूरेनियम संवर्धन शुरू किया।

2007 भारतीय मूल की सुनीता विलियम अंतरिक्ष में सबसे अधिक समय बिताने वाली महिला बनीं।

2008 पंजाब में पटियाला की विशेष अदालत ने कंधार विमान अपहरण मामले में तीन आरोपियों को आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनाई। इसी दिन केनरा व इलाहाबाद बैंक ने गृह ऋण पर ब्याज दरें घटायीं। पाकिस्तान के विवादास्पद परमाणु वैज्ञानिक अब्दुल कादिर खान को सरकार ने अपने करीबी मित्रों से मिलने की अनुमति दी। इसी दिन आध्यात्मिक गुरु महर्षि महेश योगी का निधन हुआ। 1960 के दशक में मशहूर रॉक बैंड बीटल्स के सदस्यों के साथ ही योगी कई बड़ी हस्तियों के आध्यात्मिक गुरु थे।

2009 उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री मायावती ने प्रदेश के पांच महानगरों लखनऊ, फैजाबाद, अयोध्या, कानपुर, बिठूर, इलाहाबाद और मेरठ के विकास के लिए 5056 करोड़ रुपये की परियोजनाओं का लोकार्पण व शिलान्यास किया। इसी दिन प्रख्यात व्यंग्यकार प्रेम जनमेजय को व्यंग्यश्री सम्मान देने की घोषणा की गयी।

2010 भारतीय निशानेबाज अभिनव बिंद्रा ने नीदरलैंड इंटरनेशनल शूटिंग चैंपियनशिप में 600 में से 596 अंक हासिल कर स्वर्ण पदक जीत लिया।

2020 यूक्रेन स्कैंडल मामले में अमेरिकी सीनेट ने डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प पर चल रही महाभियोग की कार्रवाई को निरस्त किया। ट्रम्प पर अमेरिका के निचले सदन हाउस ऑफ रिप्रजेंटेटिव ने महाभियोग पास किया था।

664 Hiuen Tsang, famous Chinese Buddhist monk, died in Luoyang, China. His initial name was Chen Hui. In China they are called Xuanzang. Hiuen Tsang came to India during the reign of Harshvardhan and stayed here for 15 years. Hiuen Tsang has given details of his journey and the then India in his book Si-Yu-Ki. This gives an idea of the social, economic, religious and cultural condition of Harsh period India. Hiuen Tsang became a world famous Chinese scholar, traveller, translator.

Ravidas was born in 1377 on Magha Purnima in village Seer Govardhan near Varanasi. Ravidas, born in the Dalit class, became a famous 14th century devotional poet, saint and social reformer. This time Magh Purnima is on February 5, so today those who believe in Saint Ravidas are celebrating his birthday.

1679 German ruler Leopold I signed a peace treaty with France.

1782: Spanish forces capture Menorca after defeating British forces.

In 1783, 30,000 people were killed by a severe earthquake in Calabria, Italy.

1933 Prathap Chandra Reddy, head of the Apollo Hospitals Group, a leading healthcare businessman who started the corporate hospital chain in India, was born in Aragonda, Andhra Pradesh.

1936 Renowned Kannada poet and writer Kokkare Hosahalli Sheikh Haider Nisar Ahmed, Padma Shri awardee, was born in Devanahalli.

1951 President of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Association, eminent rationalist Narendra Nayak, who founded the Dakshina Kannada Rationalist Association in Karnataka in 1976, was born in Mangalore.

1995 Bollywood's well-known, bold singer, musician and lyricist Anmol Malika was born in Bombay. She is the daughter of famous singer Anu Malik.

1998 Srilakshmi Suresh, India's famous web designer, was born in Kozhikode, Kerala.

2004 Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf pardons nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan in the case of misuse of nuclear technology.

2006 Iran begins uranium enrichment.

In 2007, Indian-origin Sunita Williams became the woman with the most time spent in space.

In 2008, a special court in Patiala, Punjab, sentenced three accused in the Kandahar plane hijacking case to life imprisonment. On the same day, Canara and Allahabad Bank reduced the interest rates on home loans. Pakistan's controversial nuclear scientist Abdul Qadir Khan has been allowed by the government to meet his close friends. Spiritual guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi passed away on this day.
