1930 Pluto, long considered the ninth planet of our solar system, was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh. A girl student has a role in naming it. A class 11 student suggested that Pluto is the god of darkness in Rome. This planet also lives in darkness, because of this it would be appropriate to name it Pluto. Such a name was fixed and till 2006 it was counted among the nine planets of the solar system. In 1992, a debate started among astronomers about Pluto. They started getting more objects like Pluto at the edge of the solar system. This raised the question of whether Pluto should be considered a planet or one of many icy objects orbiting the Sun at the edge of the Solar System. Some scientists used to say that Pluto is too small. Much smaller than our Moon. That's why it cannot be considered a planet. In 2006, a meeting of the International Astronomical Union, a group that names astronomical structures, decided who should be called a planet and who should not. In the new definition, it was decided that any such celestial structure would revolve around the circular path of the Sun and keep cleaning its surroundings. This was the last condition, it took away the title of the planet from Pluto. It was told that Pluto is so small that it cannot remove the stones and other debris that come in its way while orbiting the Sun. Then Pluto was called Dwarf Planet. Many scientists on Pluto are still trying their best to prove that Pluto is a planet and not a dwarf planet. Pluto should not have been downgraded to a planet, according to a recent research published in the scientific journal Icorus. Every few days, some statement or study comes, which says that Pluto should be declared a planet again. The Lowell Observatory in Arizona, in which Clyde Tombaugh discovered this planet, celebrated the Pluto Festival from February 13 to 18 this year as well. Virtual activities took place in this and many astronomers and scientists reiterated that the time has come to declare Pluto a planet again.
