1471 विजय नगर के प्रसिद्ध यदुवंशी सम्राट और तेलुगू भाषा के कवि कृष्णदेवराय का हंपी में जन्म हुआ।

1524 इतालवी खोजकर्ता जियोवान्नी दा वेराजानो ने मेडीरा से पश्चिम की ओर प्रशांत महासागर के लिए एक समुद्री मार्ग की खोज की।

1584 मध्य यूरोपीय देश बोहेमिया ने ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर अपनाया।

1595 फ्रांस के राजा हेनरी चतुर्थ ने स्पेन के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1601 मुगल बादशाह अकबर ने असीरगढ़ के अभेद किले में प्रवेश किया। इसी दिन फ्रांस ने स्पेन के साथ समझौता किया जिसके तहत फ्रांस को ब्रीस, बगेस वोल्रोमेय तथा गेक्स इलाका प्राप्त हुआ।

1706 प्रख्यात अमेरिकी लेखक, राजनीतिज्ञ, अमेरिका के संस्थापकों में से प्रमुख व्यक्ति और बहुप्रतिभावान बेंजामिन फ्रेंकलिन का जन्म हुआ था।

1718 हिमस्खलन ने ल्यूकरबड, स्विट्जरलैंड में इमारतो को भारी संख्या में नष्ट कर दिया और 53 लोग मरे गए।

1757 प्रशिया के खिलाफ जर्मनी ने युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1852 दक्षिण अफ्रीका के ट्रांसवाल की स्वतंत्रता को ब्रिटेन ने मान्यता दी।

1863 अमेरिकी राज्य वर्जीनिया में गृह युद्ध हुआ। इसी दिन 1863ं में विश्व विख्यात रूसी अभिनेता कोस्तांतिन स्तानिस्लावस्की का जन्म हुआ।

1871 केबल कार सिस्टम के लिए एन्डू एस हैलिदी को पेटेंट दिया गया।

1888 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी निबंधकार, व्यंग्यकार और साहित्यकार बाबू गुलाबराय का जन्म हुआ।

1895 फ्रांसीसी राष्ट्रपति कैसिमिर पेरियर ने इस्तीफा दिया।

1905 विख्यात भारतीय गणितज्ञ डीआर कापरेकर का जन्म हुआ।

1908 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फिल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक तथा अभिनेता एलवी प्रसाद का जन्म हुआ।

1913 पटियाला राजघराने के महाराजा और जाने माने क्रिकेटर यादविंदर सिंह का पटियाला में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन रेमंड प्वाइनकेयर फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति चुने गये।

1915 पश्चिमी यूक्रेन और बुकोविना पर रूस ने कब्जा किया।

1917 वर्जिन आइलैंड्स ढाई करोड़ डॉलर में अमेरिका ने खरीदा। 1917 में इसी दिन दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा के प्रख्यात अभिनेता तथा राजनेता और लंबे समय मुख्यमंत्री रहे एमजी रामचंन्द्रन का जन्म हुआ।

1918 भारत के जाने-माने अमीर, कारोबारी रूसी मोदी का जन्म हुआ। 1918 में इसी दिन पाकीजा, महल और रज़िया सुल्तान जैसी कालजयी फिल्में बनाने वाले मशहूर फिल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक कमाल अमरोही का जन्म अमरोहा जिला मुरादाबाद उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। यूं इनका नाम सैयद अमीर हैदर कमल नकवी है।

1921 जाने माने पाकिस्तानी सैन्य अधिकारी रहे, राजनीतिज्ञ और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता एयर मार्शल असगर खान का जन्म जम्मू में हुआ।

1923 हिंदी कथाकार, साहित्यकार रांगेय राघव का जन्म हुआ।

1930 अंतरराष्ट्रीय अंग्रेजी पत्रिका रीडर्स डाइजेस्ट के हिंदी संस्करण सर्वोत्तम के प्रथम संपादक अरविंद कुमार का जन्म हुआ।

1932 जय संतोषी मा जैसी तमाम लोकप्रिय फिल्मों की अभिनेत्री अनीता गुहा का जन्म हुआ।

1941 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस कलकत्ता से जर्मनी के लिए रवाना हुए। 1941 में इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध हिंदी लेखक महावीर सरन जैन का जन्म हुआ।

1942 पूर्व हैवीवेट चैंपियन अमेरिकी बॉक्सर मोहम्मद अली का जन्म हुआ।

1943 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के मध्य ब्रिटिश प्रधानमंत्री विंस्टन चर्चिल और अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति फ्रैंकलिन रूसवेल्ट की मोरक्को में मुलाकात हुई।

1945 द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध की समाप्ति के दिनों में सोवियत सेना का पोलैण्ड की राजधानी वारसा में आगमन। 1945 में इसी दिन मशहूर हिंदी फिल्मी गीतकार एवं पटकथा लेखक जावेद अख्तर का जन्म हुआ।

1946 संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद की पहली बैठक हुई।

1948 नीदरलैंड और इंडोनेशिया संघर्ष विराम पर सहमत हुए।

1949 जर्मन कार निर्माता कंपनी फॉक्सवैगन की पहली बीटल कार अमेरिका पहुँची। क्योंकि 1945 में द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध समाप्त होने के बाद संबंध सामान्य होने में लंबा वक्त लगा।

1950 बाॅलीवुड की प्रमुख हस्तियों में से एक अभिनेत्री और पटकथाकार हनी ईरानी का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1951 जाने माने असमिया फिल्म निर्माता, साहित्यकार एवं स्वतंत्रता सेनानी ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल का निधन हुआ।

1960 जाने माने लेखक, पत्रकार और राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी के पौत्र तुषार गांधी (पुत्र श्री अरुण मणीलाल गांधी) का शेगांव, महाराष्ट्र में जन्म हुआ।

1961 जनवादी कोंगो के प्रधानमंत्री पेट्रिस लुमुम्बा की देश के नये सैन्य शासकों ने हत्या कर दी।

1962 जानी माने फिल्म अभिनेता शशि कपूर के बेटे सुपरिचित अभिनेता, फोटोग्राफर और एवं माॅडल करन कपूर का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1973 जाने माने फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेता नितेश पांडेय का जन्म हुआ।

1976 हरमस रॉकेट को यूरोपीय स्पेस एजेंसी ने लांच किया।

1980 फ्लाटसटकोम-3 नासा ने लांच किया।

1985 जानी मानी खूबसूरत और बोल्ड फिल्म और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल रसिका दुग्गल का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन 1985 में इंगलैंड के खिलाफ भारतीय क्रिकेटर मोहम्मद अजहरुद्दीन ने दूसरा टेस्ट शतक लगाया।

1987 टाटा समूह की टाटा फुटबॉल अकादमी खुली।

1989 उत्तरी ध्रुव पर पहुंचने वाले कर्नल जेके बजाज पहले भारतीय बने।

1991 जानी मानी खूबसूरत और बोल्ड माॅडल और फिल्म अभिनेत्री दिशा पांडेय का जन्म हुआ।

1993 जाने माने सिनेमाटोग्राफर, बाॅलीवुड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेता तथा संगीतकार और माॅडल तपस्वी मेहता का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1995 जापान के कोबे शहर में आए जबरदस्त भूकंप के कारण बहुत से लोग मारे गए।

1996 यूरोपीय संघ का सदस्य बनने के लिए चेक गणराज्य ने आवेदन किया।

2002 अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्री कॉलिन पावेल भारत पहुँचे और आतंकवाद के मुद्दे पर भारत के रुख का समर्थन किया।

2007 आस्ट्रेलिया के क्रिकेटर माइकल बेवन ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से सन्यास लिया।

2008 भारत सरकार ने विकलांगों को नौकरियां देने के लिए 1800 करोड़ रुपये की एक योजना को मंजूरी प्रदान की। इसी दिन मेडागास्कर में हिन्द महासागर के ताड़ के पेड़ की नई प्रजाति मिली।

2009 भारतीय ओलंपिक संघ के महासचिव रणधीरसिंह ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2010 भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने गैरकानूनी तरीके से हमला किए जाने की स्थिति में आत्मरक्षा के अधिकार की प्रो-ऐक्टिव परिभाषा देते हुए कहा है कि कानून का पालन करने वाले लोगों को कायर बनकर रहने की जरूरत नहीं है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट की दो सदस्यीय खंडपीठ ने आत्मरक्षा के अधिकार की 10 सूत्रीय निर्देश तय करते हुए कहा कि इन परिस्थितियों में किसी व्यक्ति को अपराधी नहीं बनाया जा सकेगा, भले ही उसने हमलावर को जानलेवा क्षति पहुँचायी हो। इसी दिन 2010 भारत के प्रसिद्ध मार्क्सवादी राजनीतिज्ञ और कई दशक तक पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री रहे ज्योति बसु का निधन हुआ।

2013 इराक में हुए सिलसिलेवार बम धमाकों में लगभग 40 लोग की जाने गयी। 2013 जापान ने परमाणु संयंत्र को वापस चालू करने के लिए फुकुशिमा दाइची परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र की साइट के निकट प्रांत में दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा अपतटीय पवन फार्म बनाने की घोषणा की।

2014 बताया गया कि एक हड्डी की खोज इंग्लैंड के विनचेस्टर 1999 में हुई। लंबी जांच के बाद ऐसा माना गया कि यह हड्डी प्रसिद्ध राजा अल्फ्रेड महान या उनके पुत्र एडवर्ड की है जो इतिहास में बहुत प्रसिद्ध थे।

2014 बीसवीं सदी की मशहूर हिंदी और बांग्ला फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सुचित्रा सेन का निधन हुआ।

2020 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी बापू नाडकर्णी का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) ने यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी से एरियन-5 प्रक्षेपण यान के माध्यम से संचार उपग्रह जीसैट-30 प्रक्षेपित किया। यह प्रक्षेपण भारतीय समयानुसार 2 बजकर 35 मिनट पर किया गया। यह इसरो का साल 2020 का पहला मिशन था। प्रक्षेपण के लगभग 38 मिनट 25 सेकंड बाद सैटेलाइट कक्षा में स्थापित हो गया। इसी दिन केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय ने आतंकवाद, नक्सली हिंसा या सांप्रदायिक दंगा पीड़ितों को सरकारी सहायता पाने हेतु आधार को अनिवार्य कर दिया।

1595 King Henry IV of France declares war on Spain.

1601 The Mughal emperor Akbar entered the impregnable fort of Asirgarh. On the same day, France made an agreement with Spain, under which France received Brice, Buges Volromey and Gex area.

1706 Benjamin Franklin, noted American author, politician, key figure in one of America's founding fathers, and multi-talented, was born.

1718 An avalanche destroys a large number of buildings in Leukerbad, Switzerland, and kills 53 people.

1757 Germany declared war on Prussia.

2010 The Supreme Court of India pro-actively defines the right of self-defense in the event of an unlawful attack, saying that law-abiding people need not act as cowards. A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court, while laying down 10-point guidelines on the right of self-defense, said that in these circumstances a person cannot be made a criminal, even if he has caused fatal injury to the aggressor. On this day in 2010, Jyoti Basu, India's famous Marxist politician and Chief Minister of West Bengal for several decades, passed away.

In the 2013 serial bombings in Iraq, about 40 people were killed. 2013 Japan announces the construction of the world's largest offshore wind farm in the province near the site of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in a bid to restart nuclear power.

2014 reported that a bone was discovered in Winchester, England in 1999. After a long investigation, it was believed that this bone belonged to the famous King Alfred the Great or his son Edward, who was very famous in history.

2014 Suchitra Sen, famous Hindi and Bengali film actress and model of the 20th century, passed away.

2020 Famous Indian cricket player Bapu Nadkarni passed away. On the same day, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the communication satellite GSAT-30 through Ariane-5 launch vehicle from the European Space Agency. This launch was done at 2:35 pm Indian time. This was ISRO's first mission of the year 2020. The satellite was placed in orbit approximately 38 minutes 25 seconds after launch. On the same day, the Union Home Ministry made Aadhaar mandatory for victims of terrorism, Naxalite violence or communal riots to get government assistance.
