1763 न्यूपोर्ट आरआई, अमेरिका में के टूरो शेनागाॅग स्थापित किया गया। यह अमेरिकी धरती पर सर्वप्रथम स्थापित यहूदी इसाई आराधनालय यानी प्रार्थना ग्रह है।

1802 यूनाइटेड किंगडम यानी इंग्लैंड में प्रशिक्षु अधिनियम के स्वास्थ्य और नैतिकता को ध्यान में रखते हुए फैक्ट्रियों में बाल श्रम के लिए शर्तों को विनियमित किया गया।

1804 नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट को फ्रांस का सम्राट बनने पर राज्याभिषेक किया गया।

1811 रेवरेंड सैमुअल मार्सडेन ने ऊन से भरे पहले वाणिज्यिक नौवहन को न्यू साउथ वेल्स से इंग्लैंड भेजा।

1840 विलियम हेनरी हैरिसन ने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के 9वें राष्ट्रपति के शपथ ली।

फ्रांस जोसेफ 1848 में प्रथम ऑस्ट्रिया के सम्राट बने।

1855 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष हुए एन.जी. चन्दावरकर का जन्म हुआ।

1886 उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रसिद्ध समाजसेवी तथा संत बाबा राघवदास का जन्म हुआ। उनके नाम से गोरखपुर में बच्चों के लिए बड़ा अस्पताल, मेडिकल काॅलेज है। जिसमें 2017 में आॅक्सीजन की कमी से बड़ी संख्या में बच्चों की मौत हुई। इसमें डाॅ. कफील खान चर्चा में आए। डाॅ. कफील को यूपी की योगी आदित्यनाथ सरकार ने गलत आरोप लगाकर नौकरी से निकाल दिया। बाद में उन पर फर्जी आरोप लगाकर राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा कानून और अन्य गंभीर किस्म के मुकदमे लाद दिए गये। हालांकि इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने लंबे समय बाद आरोप फर्जी पाए और यूपी सरकार को लताड़ लगाई।

1901 विख्यात हिंदी साहित्यकार और विद्वान् आचार्य रामचन्द्र शुक्ल के सहयोगी पीताम्बर दत्त बड़थ्वाल का जन्म हुआ।

1908 यंग सम्राट पुइ को 2 साल की उम्र में चीन के राज सिंहासन पर आरूढ़ गया।

1911 इंग्लैंड के जॉर्ज पंचम और रानी मैरी भारत आने वाले ब्रिटेन के पहले राजा, रानी बनें। उनके बंबई आगमन की याद में ही गेटवे ऑफ इंडिया बनाया गया। 1905 में बंगाल का बंटवारा कर दिया गया और दिल्ली को देश की राजधानी बनाया गया। इससे देश में विद्रोह हो गया। इस विद्रोह को शांत कराने के लिए ब्रिटेन से राजा-रानी आए थे। उनका दिल्ली के दरबार में राज्याभिषेक भी हुआ।

1912 मद्रास में ऐशिया के सबसे बड़े फिल्म स्टूडियो विजय वाहिनी स्टूडियो की स्थापना करने वाले दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा के प्रमुख व्यक्ति निर्माता-निर्देशक बोम्मीरेड्डी नागी रेड्डी का जन्म हुआ।

1918 प्रमुख, प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शिक्षाशास्त्री गुरुदास बनर्जी का निधन हुआ।

1927 हैनरी फोर्ड की कंपनी की फोर्ड मॉडल टी कार के उत्पादन के 19 वर्षों के बाद फोर्ड मोटर कंपनी ने मॉडल ए को अपनी नई ऑटोमोबाइल के रूप में बाजार में उतारा।

1939 प्रसिद्ध फिल्म पटकथा लेखिका अचला नागर का जन्म हुआ।

1942 पांडिचेरी में श्री अरविंदो आश्रम स्कूल की स्थापना हुई जिसे बाद में श्री अरविंदो इंटरनेशनल सेंटर ऑफ एजुकेशन के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया गया।

1947 मंगलौर में कुंदापुर वामन कामथ का जन्म हुआ। यह आइसीआइसीआइ बैंक के प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य परिचालन अधिकारी रहे।

1948 अमेरिकी कंपनी मैकेंजी एंड कंपनी के मुखिया रहे, जाने माने अमेरिकन कारोबारी रजत गुप्त का जन्म मानिकतला, कलकत्ता में हुआ। रजत गुप्ता संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव के विशेष सलाहकार, इंटरनेशनल चैंबर ऑफ कॉमर्स के अध्यक्ष, गोल्डमैन साक्स के स्वतंत्र निदेशक, शिकागो विश्वविद्यालय के बोर्ड ऑफ ट्रस्टीज के सदस्य तथा अमेरिकन इंडियन फाउण्डेशन के सह-अध्यक्ष भी रहे हैं। कुछ वित्तीय गड़बड़ियों के कारण वे 2 साल अमेरिकन जेल में भी बिता चुके हैं।

1954 अमरीका और चीन के बीच सुरक्षा संधि हुई।

1958 जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता शाहिद कपूर और ईशान खट्टर की मां और एक समय अभिनेता पंकज कपूर की पत्नी रहीं जानी मानी फिल्म चरित्र अभिनेत्री, नर्तकी एवं माॅडल नीलिमा अज़ीम का जन्म पटना में हुआ।

1959 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता और फोटोग्राफर तथा स्वर कलाकार बोमन ईरानी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1960 स्लिक स्मिता के नाम से सुविख्यात खूबसूरत, बोल्ड दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल विजयालक्ष्मी वाडलापति का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन भारतीय जनता पार्टी अध्यक्ष जगत प्रकाश नड्डा का जन्म हुआ।

1963 नेपोलियन के नाम से प्रसिद्ध कुमारेसन ड्यूरास्वामी का जन्म तिरुचिरापल्ली में हुआ। वे प्रसिद्ध फिल्म अभिनेता, कारोबारी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, राजनेता हैं और मनमोहन सिंह सरकार में मंत्री रहे हैं। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय-अमेरिकी वैज्ञानिक शिवा अय्यदुरई का जन्म हुआ।

1969 सोवियत राष्ट्रपति क्लिमेंट वोरोशिलोव का निधन हुआ।

1971 संयुक्त अरब अमीरात ने ब्रिटेन से स्वतंत्र होने की घोषणा की और अरब प्रायद्वीप के छह क्षेत्रों ने मिलकर संयुक्त अरब अमीरात की स्थापना की। फरवरी 1972 में इनमें एक सातवां देश भी शामिल हुआ।

1972 बिग बाॅस 1 की प्रतियोगी, अनेक रियलिटी शो की कलाकार, खूबसूरत, अत्यधिक बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल कश्मीरा शाह का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1977 फैसल शेख के नाम से सुपरिचित भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी फैसल मूसा मामलेकर शेख का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1981 पाॅप की राजकुमारी कही गई खूबसूरत, बोल्ड विश्व विख्यात अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री, गायिका, नर्तकी और माॅडल ब्रिटनी स्पीयर्स का जन्म हुआ। अमेरिका की यह सिंगर 90 के दशक के आखिर में दुनियाभर के किशोरों में बेहद लोकप्रिय रहीं।

1982 स्पेन की प्रथम संसद में समाजवादी बहुमत में पहुंचे और फिलिप गोंजालेज प्रधानमंत्री निर्वाचित हुए।

1982 अमेरिका के एक डेंटिस्ट डॉ. बर्नी क्लार्क को कृत्रिम हृदय लगाया गया। डॉ. क्लार्क दिल की गंभीर बीमारी से जूझ रहे थे। उनकी बीमारी को लेकर डॉक्टर हार मान चुके थे, लेकिन यूटा यूनिवर्सिटी में डॉ. विलियम सी डेव्रिस की टीम ने डॉ. क्लार्क का हार्ट ट्रांसप्लांट किया। ऑपरेशन साढ़े 7 घंटे तक चला। ऑपरेशन के बाद डॉ. क्लार्क ने हाथ हिलाकर बताया था कि वो ठीक हैं। ऑपरेशन के बाद डॉ. क्लार्क का दिल हर मिनट में 116 बार धड़क रहा था, जबकि आमतौर पर दिल एक बार 65 से 80 बार धड़कता है। डॉ. क्लार्क को जो आर्टिफिशियल हार्ट लगाया गया था, उसका नाम जार्विक-7 था, जिसे डॉ. रॉबर्ट जार्विक ने बनाया था। उनका कहना था कि ये कृत्रिम हृदय सामान्य मनुष्य के हृदय से बड़ा था, लेकिन इसका वजन मनुष्य के हृदय के बराबर ही था। ऑपरेशन कामयाब होने के कुछ दिन बाद डॉ. क्लार्क को रक्त स्त्राव की समस्या शुरू हो गई। आर्टिफिशियल हार्ट लगने के बाद डॉ. क्लार्क 112 दिन जिए। 23 मार्च 1983 को उनकी मौत हो गई। लेकिन हृदय प्रत्यारोपण की दिशा में यह आॅपरेशन चिकित्सकों को नई दिशा दे गया।

1986 जानी-मानी, खूबसूरत, अत्यधिक बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल कायनात अरोरा का जन्म सहारनपुर में हुआ।

1988 विख्यात हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता विनोद मेहरा की बेटी अभिनेत्री और माॅडल सोनिया मेहरा का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन बेनजीर भुट्टो ने पाकिस्तान की प्रधानमंत्री का पद संभाला। वे पाकिस्तानी की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री बनीं।

1989 जनता दल के नेता विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह देश के सातवें प्रधानमंत्री बने। उन्होंने गठबंधन की सरकार का नेतृत्व किया।

1995 बेरिंग्स बैंक कांड के चर्चित व्यक्ति निक लीसन को सिंगापुर के न्यायालय ने साढ़े छह वर्ष की कैद की सजा सुनाई। 1995 में इसी दिन विश्व प्रसिद्ध कनाडाई उपन्यासकार, नाटककार और आलोचक राबर्टसन डेविस का निधन हुआ।

1999 विश्व विख्यात गिटार वादक चार्ली ली बर्ड का निधन। इसी दिन भारत में बीमा क्षेत्र में निजी क्षेत्र के निवेश को मंजूरी दी गई।

2002 प्रशांत महासागर के बोरा-बोरा द्वीप में एक जलते यात्री जहाज विडस्टार से 219 लोगों को सुरक्षित बचाया गया।

2003 हेग स्थित संयुक्त राष्ट्र युद्धापराध न्यायालय ने बोस्नियाई सर्ब के पूर्व सैन्य कमांडर मोमिर निकोलिक को 1995 में हुए सर्बनिका नरसंहार में दोषी पाया गया और 27 साल कैद की सजा सुनाई।

2005 पाकिस्तान सरकार ने मदरसों द्वारा धार्मिक नफरत फैलाने एवं आतंकवाद के लिए प्रेरणा देने वाले शिक्षा एवं साहित्य के प्रकाशन पर रोक के लिए कानून बनाया।

2006 फिलीपींस में ज्वालामुखी का मलबा गिरने से 208 लोगों की मृत्यु तथा 261 लोग घायल।

2007 पाकिस्तानी राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ ने 8 जनवरी के प्रस्तावित चुनावों को देखते हुए देश में विरोध प्रदर्शनों और रैलियों पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।

2008 पंजाब नेशनल बैंक ने एफसीएनआर ब्याज दरों में कटौती की।

2012 प्रसिद्ध चरित्र अभिनेत्री प्रीति गांगुली का निधन हुआ।

2014 बाॅलीवुड बंबई हिंदी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध हास्य अभिनेता देवेन वर्मा का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने चोरी मेरा काम, चोर के घर चोर, अंगूर जैसी तमाम लोकप्रिय हिंदी फिल्मों में अभिनय किया। इसी दिन 2014 में भारतीय राजनेता एवं महाराष्ट्र के 8वें मुख्यमंत्री अब्दुल रहमान अंतुले का निधन हुआ। 2014 में इसी दिन रेड क्रॉस ने जानकारी दी कि उत्तर पूर्वी केन्या में अल-शबाब आतंकवादियों का एक हमला कम से कम 36 लोगों की मौत के लिए जिम्मेदार है।

2016 आॅकलैंड में एक नृत्य पार्टी के दौरान लगी भीषण आग से 36 लोग मारे गए।

1811 Reverend Samuel Marsden sends the first commercial shipment of wool from New South Wales to England.

1840 William Henry Harrison is sworn in as the 9th President of the United States.

Franz Joseph I became Emperor of Austria in 1848.

1855 Freedom fighter and President of Indian National Congress N.G. Chandavarkar was born.

1886 Baba Raghavdas, a famous social worker and saint of Uttar Pradesh, was born. There is a big hospital and medical college for children in Gorakhpur by his name. In which a large number of children died in 2017 due to lack of oxygen. In this Dr. Kafeel Khan came into the limelight. Dr. Kafeel was fired from the job by the Yogi Adityanath government of UP on false allegations. Later, by making false allegations, National Security Act and other serious cases were imposed on them. However, after a long time the Allahabad High Court found the allegations to be fake and lambasted the UP government.

1901 Pitambar Dutt Barthwal, associate of noted Hindi litterateur and scholar Acharya Ramchandra Shukla, was born.

1908 Young Emperor Puyi ascended the throne of China at the age of 2.

1911 George V of England and Queen Mary become the first King, Queen of Britain to visit India. The Gateway of India was built to commemorate his arrival in Bombay. Bengal was partitioned in 1905 and Delhi was made the capital of the country. This led to a rebellion in the country. The king and queen had come from Britain to pacify this rebellion. He was also coronated in the court of Delhi.

1912 Bommireddy Nagi Reddy, producer-director, leading figure in South Indian cinema who founded Vijay Vahini Studios, Asia's largest film studio, in Madras, was born.

1918 Gurudas Banerjee, prominent Indian educationist, passed away.

1927 After 19 years of production of Henry Ford's Ford Model T car, the Ford Motor Company introduced the Model A as its new automobile.

1939 Achala Nagar, noted film screenwriter, was born.

1942 Sri Aurobindo Ashram School was established in Pondicherry which was later presented as Sri Aurobindo International Center of Education.

1947 Kundapur Vaman Kamath was born in Mangalore. He was the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of ICICI Bank.

1948 Rajat Gupta, noted American businessman, head of the American company McKenzie & Company, was born in Maniktala, Calcutta. Rajat Gupta has also been Special Advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Independent Director of Goldman Sachs, Member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago and Co-Chairman of the American Indian Foundation. Due to some financial irregularities, he has also spent 2 years in American jail.

In 1954, a security treaty was signed between the US and China.

1958 Neelima Azeem, noted film character actress, dancer and model, mother of noted film actors Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and once wife of actor Pankaj Kapur, was born in Patna.

1959 Boman Irani, noted Bollywood film actor and photographer and voice artist, was born in Bombay.

1960 Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, beautiful, bold South Indian film actress and model, better known as Slick Smitha, was born. Bharatiya Janata Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda was born on this day.

1963 Kumaresan Duraswamy, popularly known as Napoleon, was born in Tiruchirappalli. He is a famous film actor, businessman, social worker, politician and has been a minister in the Manmohan Singh government. On this day the famous Indian-American scientist Siva Ayyadurai was born.

1969 Soviet President Kliment Voroshilov passed away.

1971 The United Arab Emirates declares independence from Britain and six regions of the Arabian Peninsula unite to form the United Arab Emirates. In February 1972, a seventh country also joined them.

1972 Contestant of Bigg Boss 1, performer of many reality shows, beautiful, very bold Bollywood actress and model Kashmera Shah was born in Bombay.

1977 Faisal Moosa Mamlekar Sheikh, Indian cricketer better known as Faisal Sheikh, was born in Bombay.

1981 Beautiful, bold world-famous American actress, singer, dancer, and model Britney Spears, called the Princess of Pop, was born. This American singer was very popular among teenagers around the world in the late 90s.

1982 Socialist majority in Spain's first parliament and Filipe González elected prime minister.

1982 Dr. Bernie Clark, a dentist from America, was fitted with an artificial heart. Dr. Clarke was suffering from a serious heart condition. The doctors had given up on his illness, but Dr. William C. Devris's team at the University of Utah transplanted Dr. Clark's heart. The operation lasted for 7 and a half hours. After the operation, Dr. Clark shook hands and told that he was fine. After the operation, Dr. Clarke's heart was beating 116 times per minute, whereas normally the heart beats 65 to 80 times once. The artificial heart that Dr. Clark was fitted with was named Jarvik-7, which was made by Dr. Robert Jarvik. He said that this artificial heart was bigger than the normal human heart, but its weight was equal to the human heart. A few days after the operation was successful, Dr. Clark started having bleeding problems. Dr. Clarke lived for 112 days after getting an artificial heart. He died on 23 March 1983. But this operation gave a new direction to the doctors in the direction of heart transplant.

1988 Sonia Mehra, actress and model, daughter of noted Hindi film actor Vinod Mehra, was born in Bombay. On this day, Benazir Bhutto took over as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. She became the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan.

1989 Janata Dal leader Vishwanath Pratap Singh became the seventh Prime Minister of the country. He headed the coalition government.

Nick Leeson, the figurehead of the 1995 Barings Bank scandal, has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison by a Singapore court. On this day in 1995, world famous Canadian novelist, playwright and critic Robertson Davies died.

1999 Charlie Lee Bird, world-renowned guitarist, passed away. On the same day, private sector investment was approved in the insurance sector in India.

2002 219 people are rescued from the burning passenger liner Vidstar in the Pacific Ocean off the island of Bora-Bora.

2003 The United Nations War Crimes Court in The Hague finds former Bosnian Serb military commander Momir Nikolic guilty of the 1995 Sbernica massacre and sentences him to 27 years in prison.

In 2005, the Government of Pakistan made a law to ban the publication of education and literature by madrasas that spread religious hatred and inspire terrorism.
