65 ईस्वी में 19 अप्रैल को फ्रीडमैन मिलिचस ने सम्राट नीरो को मारने के लिए पिसो की साजिश को नाकाम कर सभी साजिशकर्ताओं को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। नीरो क्लॉडियस सीजर ऑगस्टस जर्मेनिकस, 5वें रोमन सम्राट और जूलियो-क्लाउडियन राजवंश का अंतिम सम्राट था, जिसने 54 ईस्वी सन् से 68 ईस्वी में अपनी मृत्यु तक शासन किया। उसे 13 वर्ष की आयु में रोमन सम्राट क्लॉडियस द्वारा अपनाया गया था और उसके बाद उसका उत्तराधिकारी बना। यह रोम का सबसे बदनाम और बर्बर तानाशाह हुआ। कहते हैं नीरो अपनी मां एग्रिप्पिना के निर्देशन में काम करता था जो बहुत महत्वाकांक्षी, भ्रष्ट और पतित थी। वह नीरो को अपनी यौन क्षुदा शांत करने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल करती थी।

531 कैलिनिकम की लड़ाई में बेलिसरियस की बीजान्टिन सेना को रक्का (उत्तरी सीरिया) में फारसियों ने पराजित किया।

797 बीजेंटाइन सम्राट कांस्टेनटाइन छठे को उसकी मां इरीन के समर्थकों ने पकड़ लिया गया, अंधा कर कैद कर लिया गया।

1451 बहलोल लोदी ने दिल्ली पर कब्जा किया। बहलोल खान लोदी दिल्ली के लोदी वंश का प्रथम सुलतान बना, जब पिछले सैयद वंश का अंतिम शासक पदच्युत हुआ। बहलोल अफगान व्यापारियों के परिवार में पैदा हुआ था। वह एक प्रसिद्द योद्धा होकर पंजाब का राज्यपाल बना। दिल्ली में 19 अप्रैल 1451 को काबिज हुआ और सैयद राजवंश के स्थान पर लोदी सल्तनत कायम की।

1506 लिस्बन नरसंहार शुरू हुआ, जिसमें पुर्तगाली कैथोलिकों ने सैकड़ों यहूदियों की हत्या कर दी।

1529 प्रोटेस्टेंट सुधार की शुरुआत स्पीयर के दूसरे आहार द्वारा लूथरनवाद पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के बाद, शासकों (जर्मन फर्स्ट) और स्वतंत्र शहरों के एक समूह ने वर्म्स के आदेश की बहाली का विरोध किया।

1780 भारत के अवध प्रांत के प्रसिद्ध नवाब वज़ीर अली खान का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ।

1782 जॉन एडम्स ने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका को एक स्वतंत्र सरकार के रूप में डच मान्यता प्रदान की। हेग में उन्होंने जो घर खरीदा था वह पहला अमेरिकी दूतावास बन गया। 19 अप्रैल को अमेरिका - डच दोस्ती दिवस मनाया जाता है।

1882 12 फरवरी 1809 को इंग्लैंड में जन्मे प्रसिद्ध जीवविज्ञानी चार्ल्स डार्विन का निधन 19 अप्रैल 1882 को हुआ। 1859 में आई चार्ल्स डार्विन की ओरिजन ऑफ स्पीशीज किताब ने दुनिया को नए तरह से देखने का दृष्टिकोण प्रस्तुत कया। जीव विज्ञान में महत्वपूर्ण थ्योरीज देने वाले डार्विन को जीवन की उत्पत्ति के बारे में मूलभूत सिद्धांतों के लिए जाना जाता है। पृथ्वी पर जीवन की शुरुआत और विकास के बारे में डार्विन ने वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण और तथ्यों के आधार पर जो सिद्धांत दिए, उनसे अनेक प्रचलित धारणाएं तथा मान्यताएं बदल गईं।

1864 पंजाब के प्रसिद्ध आर्य समाजी नेता, समाज सुधारक और शिक्षाविद महात्मा हंसराज का जन्म हुआ।

1910 हैली पुच्छल तारा पहली बार खुली आँखों से देखा गया।

1919 अमेरिका के लेस्ली इरविन ने पैराशूट से पहली छलांग लगायी।

1927 अमेरिकी अभिनेत्री मॅई वेस्ट को ब्रॉडवे नाटक सेक्स में एक वेश्या का किरदार निभाकर अश्लीलता और युवाओं की नैतिकता को भ्रष्ट करने का दोषी मानते हुए 10 दिनों की जेल की सजा सुनाई गई।

1931 लोकप्रिय पाकिस्तानी फिल्म अभिनेता मोहम्मद अली का जन्म रामपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1933 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय काँग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष सैयद हसन इमाम का निधन हुआ।

1936 फिलिस्तीन में यहूदियों के खिलाफ दंगे शुरू हुए।

1945 केरल के मेजर आर्कबिशप आॅफ सायरोमालाबार कैथोलिक चर्च और कैथोलिक चर्च के कार्डिनल, इसाई संत, धर्मगुरु तथा समाजसेवी जार्ज अलेनचेरी का जन्म थुरुथी में हुआ। इसी दिन फिल्म, टेलीविजन और थिएटर की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री सुरेखा सीकरी का दिल्ली में जन्म हुआ।

1947 अमेरिका के नगर टेक्सास बंदरगाह के पास एक फ्रांसीसी जहाज के फटने से 522 लोग मारे गए।

1948 समाजवादी विप्लव के दौर में च्यांग काई शेक चीन के राष्ट्रपति बने।

1950 आरएसएस के संगठन जनसंघ के नेता श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी ने पं. जवाहर लाल नेहरू के केंद्रीय मंत्रीमंडल से इस्तीफा दिया।

1955 प्रसिद्ध चिकित्सक और संरक्षणवादी जिम कार्बेट का निधन हुआ।

1956 विख्यात अमेरिकी फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल ग्रेस केली ने मोनाको के राजकुमार रेनियर तृतीय से शादी की। इसी दिन भारतीय हिंदी, पंजाबी और दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों के अभिनेता, निर्माता एवं माॅडल मुकेश ऋषि का जन्म कठुआ, जम्मू एवं कश्मीर में हुआ। इसी दिन आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे वाईएस राजशेखर रेड्डी की पत्नी राजनीतिज्ञ येदुगुरी संदिती विजयलक्ष्मी या वाइएस विजयम्मा का जन्म कडपा में हुआ।

1957 कारोबारी मुकेश अंबानी का जन्म हुआ।

1968 जाने माने बॉलीवुड अभिनेता और माॅडल अरशद वारसी का जन्म हुआ।

1987 दक्षिण भारत की लोकप्रिय फिल्म, टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, गायिका और माॅडल स्वाति रेड्डी का जन्म व्लादिवोस्तोक, रूस में हुआ। द सिम्पसंस पहली बार द ट्रेसी उलमैन शो पर शॉर्ट्स की एक श्रृंखला के रूप में दिखाई दिया, जिसकी शुरुआत गुड नाइट से हुई।

1989 अफ्रीकी देश सिएरा लियोन ने गणतंत्र की घोषणा की।

1990 लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड तेलुगू फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल ईशा रेबा का जन्म बारंगल में हुआ।

1993 अमेरिका के टेक्सास के वाको में ब्रांच डेविडियन बिल्डिंग की 51 दिनों की एफबीआई घेराबंदी आग लगने पर समाप्त हुई। आग में 10 साल से कम उम्र के 18 बच्चों सहित 76 डेविडियन की मौत हो गई।

1995 जाने माने भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी दीपक हुड्डा का जन्म रोहतक, हरियाणा में हुआ।

2001 भारत की बाॅर्डर सिक्योरिटी फोर्स बी.एस.एफ. ने मेघालय के एक गांव से बांग्लादेशी सेना को बल प्रयोग कर खदेड़ दिया।

2003 चीन की महिला भारोत्तोलक बांग मिंग च्यान ने विश्व रिकार्ड बनाया।

2005 जर्मनी के कार्डिनल योसिफ रान्सिंगर रोमन कैथोलिक चर्च के नये पोप चुने गये जो पोप बेनेडिक्ट 16 के नाम से जाने जाते हैं।

2007 द विजार्ड आफ आईडी सीरीज के कार्टूनिस्ट ब्रैंड पार्कर का निधन 2007 हुआ था।

2008 उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश में भूमि अधिग्रहण करने के लिए नई कमेटी बनाने की घोषणा की। इसी दिन पाकिस्तान ने परमाणु हथियार ले जाने में सक्षम 2000 किलोमीटर की मारक क्षमता वाले प्रक्षेपास्त्र शहीन-2 का सफल परीक्षण किया। फ्रेंच गुयाना स्थित यूरोप के अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र कौरू से एरियन-5 रॉकेट से ब्राजील व वियतनाम के दो दूर संचार उपग्रह एक साथ प्रक्षेपित किये गए।

2011 लंबे समय से बीमार चल रहे क्यूबा के राष्ट्रपति फिदेल कास्त्रो ने कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ क्यूबा की केंद्रीय समिति में 45 वर्षों तक बने रहने के बाद पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2012 विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने लीवर रोग जागरूकता की आवश्यकता और लीवर रोग अनुसंधान में संसाधनों के निवेश पर जोर देने के लिए विश्व लीवर दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत की। तब से हर साल, कई स्वास्थ्य संगठन, अस्पताल और लीवर उपचार केंद्र विश्व लीवर दिवस मनाने के लिए विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों और गतिविधियों का आयोजन करते हैं। विश्व लिवर दिवस 2023 की थीम सतर्क रहें, नियमित लिवर चेक-अप करें, फैटी लिवर किसी को भी प्रभावित कर सकता है, थी।

2013 बोस्टन मैराथन बम विस्फोट का संदिग्ध तमेरलान जारनेव पुलिस के साथ मुठभेड़ में मारा गया। उसके भाई जोखर को बाद में वॉटरटाउन के उपनगर में एक पिछवाड़े के अंदर एक नाव में छिपा हुआ पकड़ लिया गया।

2020 कोरोना वायरस से दिल्ली में नवजात शिशु की मौत हुई और भारत में कोरोना संक्रमितों का आंकड़ा 17,000 के पार हुआ। कनाडा के नोवा स्कोटिया में 22 लोगों की हत्या कर दी गई।

2021 इंजेन्युटी हेलीकॉप्टर दूसरे ग्रह पर उड़ान भरने वाला पहला विमान बन गया।

2022 119 वर्ष, 107 दिन का जीवन जी कर केन तनाका (जन्म 2 जनवरी 1903) जापानी सुपरसेंटेनेरियन का निधन हुआ। तनाका दुनिया की सबसे उम्रदराज सत्यापित जीवित व्यक्ति थीं। 

2023 महज 25 वर्ष की आयु में लोकप्रिय दक्षिण कोरियाई गायक, अभिनेता और नर्तक मूनबिन (जन्म 26 जनवरी, 1998) का निधन हुआ।

2024 गूगल ने अपना डूडल भारत में लोक सभा चुनाव के मतदान को समर्पित किया। उंगली पर स्याही लगा गूगल डूडल प्रदर्शित किया। 19 अप्रैल को लोक सभा चुनाव के मतदान का पहला चरण था।

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was the 5th Roman emperor and the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, who ruled from AD 54 until his death in AD 68. He was adopted by the Roman Emperor Claudius at the age of 13 and subsequently became his successor. He became Rome's most infamous and barbaric dictator. It is said that Nero worked under the direction of his mother Agrippina who was very ambitious, corrupt and decadent. She also used Nero to satisfy her sexual appetite.

531 The Byzantine army of Belisarius is defeated by the Persians at Raqqa (northern Syria) at the Battle of Callinicum.

797 Byzantine Emperor Constantine VI is captured, blinded and imprisoned by supporters of his mother Irene.

1451 Bahlol Lodi captured Delhi. Bahlol Khan Lodi became the first Sultan of the Lodi dynasty of Delhi, when the last ruler of the previous Syed dynasty was deposed. Bahlol was born into a family of Afghan merchants. He became a famous warrior and became the governor of Punjab. Delhi was captured on 19 April 1451 and the Lodi Sultanate was established in place of the Syed dynasty.

1955 Famous physician and conservationist Jim Corbett passed away.

1956 Famous American film actress and model Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. On this day, Indian Hindi, Punjabi and South Indian film actor, producer and model Mukesh Rishi was born in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. On the same day, politician Yeduguri Sandithi Vijayalakshmi or YS Vijayamma, wife of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was born in Cuddapah.

1957 Businessman Mukesh Ambani was born.

1968 Famous Bollywood actor and model Arshad Warsi was born.
