354 ईस्वी में रोमन साम्राज्य में हिप्पो के ऑगस्टीन (ऑरेलियस ऑगस्टिनस हिप्पोनेंसिस / सेंट ऑगस्टीन) का जन्म हुआ। ऑगस्टीन बर्बर मूल के धर्मशास्त्री और दार्शनिक हुए और रोमन उत्तरी अफ्रीका के न्यूमिडिया में हिप्पो रेगियस के बिशप बने। उनके लेखन ने पश्चिमी दर्शन और पश्चिमी ईसाई धर्म के विकास को प्रभावित किया, और उन्हें पैट्रिस्टिक काल में लैटिन चर्च के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण चर्च फादरों में से एक के रूप में प्रतिष्ठा मिली है। उनके महत्वपूर्ण कार्यों में द सिटी ऑफ गॉड, ऑन क्रिश्चियन डॉक्ट्रिन और कन्फेशन्स शामिल हैं।

1002 इंग्लैंड में पदस्थ अंग्रेज राजा एथेलरेड द्वितीय ने इंग्लैंड में सभी डेनेस को मारने का आदेश दिया, जिसे आज सेंट ब्राइस डे नरसंहार के रूप में जाना जाता है। डेनेस उत्तरी जर्मनिक जनजाति के लोग थे जो दक्षिणी स्कैंडिनेविया में निवास करती थी, जिसमें नॉर्डिक लौह युग और वाइकिंग युग के दौरान वर्तमान डेनमार्क, उत्तरी और पूर्वी इंग्लैंड और आधुनिक दक्षिणी स्वीडन के स्कैनियन प्रांत शामिल थे। उन्होंने डेनमार्क साम्राज्य की स्थापना की। माना जाता है कि उनके क्षेत्र के नाम का अर्थ डेनिश मार्च है। ईडर और श्लेई नदियों के बीच उनके दक्षिणी सीमा क्षेत्र का जिक्र है, जिसे डेनविर्के के नाम से जाना जाता है

1093 अलनविक की लड़ाई में स्कॉट्स पर अंग्रेज सेना की जीत हुई जिसमें स्कॉटलैंड के मैल्कम तृतीय और उनका पुत्र एडवर्ड मार दिया गया।

1160 फ्रांस के लुई सातवें ने शैम्पेन की एडेला से शादी की। शैंपेन की एडेला (अन्य नाम एडेलय सी., एडिलेड, एलिक्स और एडेला ऑफ ब्लोइस), लुई सातवें की तीसरी पत्नी हो कर फ्रांस की रानी बनीं। 1190 से 1191 तक फ्रांस की शासक थीं। उनके पुत्र फिलिप द्वितीय ने तीसरे धर्मयुद्ध में भाग लिया।

1642 प्रथम अंग्रेजी गृहयुद्ध में टर्नहैम ग्रीन क्षेत्र में रॉयलिस्ट सेनाएं संसदीय सेना मुकाबले में पीछे हट गईं और लंदन पर कब्जा करने में विफल रहीं।

1775 अमेरिकी क्रांतिकारी युद्ध में जनरल रिचर्ड मोंटगोमरी के नेतृत्व में क्रांतिकारी मिलिशिया ने मॉन्ट्रियल पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1780 पंजाब के सिख राजा रणजीत सिंह का गुजरांवाला (अब पाकिस्तान में है) में जन्म हुआ। 

1789 विश्व प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी विचारक बेंजामिन फ्रैंकलिन ने अपने मित्र को एक पत्र में लिखा- मृत्यु और करों को छोड़कर कुछ भी स्थाई नहीं है।

1831 स्कॉटलैंड के विश्व विख्यात भौतिकशास्त्री तथा गणितज्ञ मैक्सवेल का जन्म हुआ।

1841 जेम्स ब्रैड (स्कॉटिश सर्जन, प्राकृतिक दार्शनिक और सज्जन वैज्ञानिक) सबसे पहले चार्ल्स लाफोंटेन (फ्रांसीसी सार्वजनिक चुंबकीय प्रदर्शक, जिन्हें बीमारियों को ठीक करने या कम करने के लिए एक एजेंट के रूप में पशु चुंबकत्व में रुचि थी) द्वारा पशु चुंबकत्व का प्रदर्शन देखा जाता है, जिसके अध्ययन के बाद उन्होंने बताया कि यह तरीका सम्मोहन था।

1849 पीटर बर्नेट कैलिफोर्निया के पहले गवर्नर नियुक्त किये गये। इसी दिन 1849 में अमेरिका के कैलिफोर्निया के संविधान को एक आम चुनाव में स्वीकृति दी गई।

1864 ग्रीस यानी यूनान के नए संविधान को स्वीकार किया गया।

1871 ब्रिटिश शाही घराने के सदस्य, ड्यूक आॅफ मार्लबोरो और कई अहम पदों पर रहे ब्रिटिश सेना के जवान और बाद में कंजरवेटिव पार्टी के प्रमुख नेता हुए चार्ल्स रिचर्ड जाॅह्न स्पेंसर - चर्चिल का जन्म शिमला भारत में हुआ।

1873 प्रसिद्ध शिक्षाशास्त्री, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता,, न्यायाधीश, विधि विशारद तथा संविधान विशेषज्ञ मुकुंद रामाराव जयकर का जन्म हुआ।

1887 मध्य लंदन में खूनी रविवार संघर्ष हुआ जब आयरलैंड में बेरोजगारी और जबरदस्ती के विरोध में मार्च करने वाले सांसद विलियम ओश्ब्रायन की रिहाई की मांग करते हुए, प्रदर्शनकारी मेट्रोपॉलिटन पुलिस और ब्रिटिश सेना के साथ भिड़ गए। प्रदर्शन का आयोजन सोशल डेमोक्रेटिक फेडरेशन और आयरिश नेशनल लीग द्वारा किया गया था। एक समकालीन रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि 400 को गिरफ्तार किया गया था और 75 लोग बुरी तरह घायल हुए थे, जिनमें कई पुलिस वाले और आम लोग थे।

1892 प्रसिद्ध कहानीकार, गद्यगीत लेखक राय कृष्णदास का जन्म हुआ।

1899 पाकिस्तान के अंतिम गवर्नर जनरल और प्रथम राष्ट्रपति और इससे पहले ब्रिटिश भारतीय फौज में मेजर जनरल हुए सैय्यद इस्कंदर मिर्जा का जन्म मुर्शिदाबाद, बंगाल में हुआ।

1903 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने पनामा की आजादी को स्वीकार किया।

1909 अमेरिका के इलिनोइस प्रांत के चेरी में सेंट पॉल कोयला खदान में आग लगने से 259 कर्मियों की मौत हो गयी।

1914 जियान वॉर-जियान बर्बर आदिवासियों ने अल हेर्री की लड़ाई में मोरक्को में फ्रांसीसी सेना को खदेड़ दिया।

1917 प्रसिद्ध प्रगतिशील कवि, आलोचक, कथाकार गजानन माधव मुक्तिबोध का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रमुख नेता, महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री हुए वसंतदादा पाटिल का जन्म हुआ।

1927 दुनिया की पहली सबसे लंबी अंडरवॉटर टनल की शुरुआत हुई। ये टनल अमेरिका के न्यूयॉर्क और न्यूजर्सी के बीच थी। इसके नॉर्थ ट्यूब की लंबाई 8,558 फीट और साउथ ट्यूब की लंबाई 8,371 फीट थी। इसका नाम इसे डिजाइन करने वाले इंजीनियर क्लिफोर्ट होलैंड के नाम पर रखा गया था।

1935 अनेक भाषाओं में अत्यधिक गीत गायन के लिए गिनेज बुक आफ वर्ल्ड रिकाॅर्ड में नाम दर्ज कराने वाली, भारत सरकार से पद्मभूषण सम्मान प्राप्त बहुभाषीय प्रसिद्ध गायिका पी सुशीला का जन्म विजयनगरम में हुआ।

1942 अविभाजित भारत के पंजाब के शहर लाहौर (अब पाकिस्तान में) भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस की प्रमुख महिला नेता और पंद्रहवीं लोकसभा के मंत्री मंडल में सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्री रहीं अंबिका सोनी का जन्म हुआ।

1945 कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता तथा पूर्व ऑल इंडिया फुटबॉल फेडरेशन के अध्यक्ष प्रियरंजन दासमुंशी का जन्म हुआ।

1954 ब्रिटेन ने फ्रांस को हराकर पारिस्टो में पारस डेस प्रिंसेस में पहला रग्बी लीग विश्व कप जीता।

1966 चिक्की पांडेय के नाम से सुपरिचित भारतीय शिक्षा कारोबारी, अक्षरा संस्थान के मालिक और इस्पात मंत्रालय भारत सरकार के सदस्य आलोक शरद पांडेय का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1967 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड लोकप्रिय भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि का जन्म हुआ।

1968 हिंदी फिल्मों की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल जूही चावला का जन्म हुआ।

1969 लंदन के क्वीन कार्लेट अस्पताल में एक महिला ने शताब्दी में पहली बार एक साथ पांच बच्चों को जन्म दिया।

1971 अमेरिका के अंतरिक्ष यान मैरियर-9 ने मंगल ग्रह का चक्कर लगाया। यह पहला मौका था, जब पृथ्वी से भेजे गए किसी यान ने किसी दूसरे ग्रह का चक्कर लगाया। इसी के साथ किसी दूसरे ग्रह की कक्षा में जाने वाला ये पहला मेन मेड ऑब्जेक्ट बना गया था। करीब एक महीने बाद वैज्ञानिकों को मंगल ग्रह की साफ तस्वीरें दिखाई दीं।

1979 फिल्म बाॅडीगार्ड, पीके इत्यादि में नजर आईं खूबसूरत, बोल्ड चरित्र अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल रीमा देबनाथ का जन्म अगरतला में हुआ। इसी दिन एक साल तक बंद रहने के बाद अमेरिका के विश्व विख्यात अखबार द न्यू याॅर्क टाइम्स और उसके सह प्रकाशन द डेली न्यूज का प्रकाशन फिर से शुरू हुआ। नई प्रौद्योगिकी के प्रयोग और अन्य मुद्दों पर प्रबंधन और कर्मचारी यूनियनों के बीच विवाद के चलते अखबार का प्रकाशन रोकना पड़ा था।

1980 जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता, फिल्म कारोबारी और फिल्म निर्माता हर्मन बवेजा का जन्म चंडीगढ़ में हुआ।

1985 कोलंबिया में नेवादो देल रुइज ज्वालामुखी फट गया था। ऐसी तबाही मची कि 80 वर्ग किमी. के इलाके में सिर्फ राख ही नजर आ रही थी। 25 हजार लोग मारे गए थे। स्थानीय समयानुसार दिन के 3 बजे ज्वालामुखी में से राख और धुंआ निकलना शुरू हो गया था। ये एक एक्टिव ज्वालामुखी था इसलिए लोगों ने ज्यादा परवाह नहीं की। शाम तक ज्वालामुखी और तेजी से अपने अंदर से राख और धुंआ उगलने लगा, लेकिन अभी तक स्थिति कंट्रोल में थी। रात होने के बाद लोग अपने-अपने घरों में सोने चले गए और तभी अचानक 11 बजे एक जोरदार धमाके के साथ ज्वालामुखी ने अपना रौद्र रूप दिखाया। लोगों को भागने का मौका ही नहीं मिला और 25 हजार से ज्यादा लोग ज्वालामुखी की चपेट में आ गए।

1987 हेमा के नाम से सुपरिचित, लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड कन्नड़ एवं तमिल फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और भरतनाट्यम नृत्यांगना हेमलता का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन गर्भ निरोधक कंडोम के पहले विज्ञापन को ब्रिटिश टेलीविजन पर प्रसारित किया गया। इसी दिन जापान के टोक्यो में हत्सुने मात्सुशिमा का जन्म हुआ। खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जापानी ग्रेव्योर मॉडल, प्रतिभावान और हार्मनी प्रमोशन से संबद्ध अभिनेत्री और हैं। असली नाम नोरिको मात्सुशिमा है और वह हचू उपनाम से जानी जाती है। उन्होंने कई टीवी नाटकों, फिल्मों और इंटरनेट श्रंख्लाओं में अभिनय किया है। उन्होंने एक किताब का सह-लेखन भी किया।

1989 साथ निभाना साथिया जैसे लोकप्रिय टेलीविजन धारावाहिकों की अभिनेत्री, बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री, अपनी बोल्डनेस और खूबसूरती के लिए मशहूर, माॅडल और रामदास अठावले की रिपब्लिकन पार्टी आॅफ इंडिया की महिला विंग की उपाध्यक्षा पायल घोष का जन्म सांगली महाराष्ट्र में हुआ।

1990 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल निकिता दत्त का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1991 मलयालम फिल्मों की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री, निर्देशिका और माॅडल गौतमी नायर का जन्म अलापुझा, केरल में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल अभिनाया का जन्म राजामहेंद्रावरम में हुआ।

1996 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सृष्टि जैन का जन्म भोपाल में हुआ।

1997 गौरी खान, शाहरुख खान के बेटे आर्यन खान का जन्म हुआ। आर्यन 3 अक्टूबर 2021 को षड्यंत्र के तहत ड्रग केस में फंसाया गया। करीब 26 दिन जेल में रहने के बाद उन्हें बाॅम्बे हाईकोर्ट ने सशर्त जमानत दी। इसी दिन सुरक्षा परिषद ने इराक पर यात्रा प्रतिबंध लगाए।

1998 विश्व दयालुता दिवस की 13 नवंबर को शुरुआत हुई। वर्ल्ड काइंडनेस डे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उत्सव विश्व दयालुता आंदोलन, राष्ट्रों की दयालुता वाले गैर सरकारी संगठनों के गठबंधन ने प्रस्तुत किया। यह कनाडा, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, नाइजीरिया और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात सहित कई देशों में मनाया जाता है। सिंगापुर ने पहली बार 2009 में यह दिन मनाया था। विधिवत विश्व दयालुता दिवस 2010 में ब्रिटेन में आयोजित हुआ।

1998 तिब्बत के आध्यात्मिक नेता दलाई लामा और अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन यानी विलियम जेफरसन क्लिंटन ने मुलाकात की।

2005 आतंकवाद के खात्मे और दक्षिण कोरिया को विकसित आर्थिक विश्व के मानचित्र में शामिल करने के लिए क्षेत्रीय सहयोग को बढ़ाने के भारत के आह्वान पर सहमति के साथ दक्षेस का 13वाँ शिखर सम्मेलन सम्पन्न हुआ। दक्षेस का 14वाँ शिखर सम्मेलन भारत में करने का निर्णय।

2007 कॉमनवेल्थ ने देश में आपात काल हटाने के लिए पाकिस्तान को 10 दिनों का समय दिया। इसी दिन 2007 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया में आयोजित एशिया पैसिफिक स्क्रीन अवार्ड में भारतीय फिल्म गांधी माई फादर को सर्वश्रेष्ठ पटकथा का पुरस्कार मिला।

2012 ऑस्ट्रेलिया और दक्षिण प्रशांत के कुछ हिस्सों में पूर्ण सूर्य ग्रहण पड़ा।

2013 अमेरिकी राज्य हवाई ने समलैंगिक विवाह को वैधता देने वाला कानून लागू किया। इसी दिन अमेरिका का चौथा वर्ल्ड ट्रेड सेंटर आधिकारिक तौर पर खुला। इसी दिन 2013 में चीको एओई, लोकप्रिय जापानी अभिनेत्री और आवाज अभिनेत्री का निधन हुआ।

2014 मारिया जोस अल्वाराडो, बोल्ड, खूबसूरत होंडुरन मॉडल, सेनोरिटा होंडुरास 2014 का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2014 में काखा बेंडुकिड्जे, जॉर्जियाई अर्थशास्त्री और राजनीतिज्ञ, जॉर्जियाई अर्थव्यवस्था मंत्री, एल्विन डार्क, अमेरिकी बेसबॉल खिलाड़ी और मैनेजर और अलेक्जेंडर ग्रोथेंडिक, जर्मन-फ्रांसीसी गणितज्ञ और सिद्धांतकार का निधन हुआ।

2015 इस्लामिक स्टेट के आतंकियों ने पेरिस में आत्मघाती बम विस्फोट, सामूहिक गोलीबारी और बंधक बनाने सहित समन्वित आतंकवादी हमलों के एक सिलसिले को अंजाम दिया। इसमें कुल 130 लोगों की हत्या हुई जिससे यह द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद फ्रांस में सबसे प्राण घातक हमला बन गया।

2016 लियोन रसेल, प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी गायक-गीतकार (जन्म 1942)

2017 बॉबी डोएर, अमेरिकी बेसबॉल खिलाड़ी और मैनेजर का निधन हुआ।

2019 भारत के उच्चतम न्यायालय ने कहा कि प्रधान न्यायाधीश का कार्यालय सार्वजनिक प्राधिकरण है और यह सूचना का अधिकार अधिनियम के तहत आता है।

2020 पीटर विलियम सुटक्लिफ (पीटर कूनन) का डर्हम, इंग्लैंड में निधन हुआ। पीटर ब्रिटिश अंग्रेजी सीरियल किलर था, जिसे 1975 और 1980 के बीच तेरह महिलाओं की हत्या और सात अन्य की हत्या के प्रयास का दोषी ठहराया गया था। उसे बीस समवर्ती सजाएं सुनाई गईं, जिन्हें 2010 में आजीवन कारावास में बदल दिया गया। आपराधिक मनोवैज्ञानिक डॉ. डेविड होम्स ने सुटक्लिफ को बेहद क्रूर, यौन रूप से परपीड़क सीरियल किलर बताया।

2021 कोयंबटूर शहर में सशस्त्र रिजर्व पुलिस के एक कांस्टेबल को शहर के एक पार्क में इश्क लड़ाने के कारण निलंबन का सामना करना पड़ा। उसकी महिला मित्र, रिश्ते में उसकी साली लगती है, ने सिपाही का सरे-आम चुंबन ले लिया। इस अंतरंग प्रेमलीला का वीडियो वायरल होने और शिकायत मिलने के बाद कांस्टेबल को निलंबित कर दिया गया है। घटना के समय पुलिस कांस्टेबल वर्दी में था। चुंबन दृश्य को कुछ युवकों ने रिकॉर्ड कर लिया और कोयंबटूर शहर पुलिस से शिकायत कर दी, जिसके बाद विभाग ने 13 को उन्हें निलंबित कर दिया। 29 वर्षीय पुलिसकर्मी वी. बालाजी कोयंबटूर शहर में सशस्त्र रिजर्व पुलिस में ग्रेड-1 पुलिस कांस्टेबल है। वह कुड्डालोर का मूल निवासी है और 2017 में पुलिस सेवा में शामिल हुआ था। पुलिस की वर्दी में बालाजी शुक्रवार शाम शहर के वलंकुलम बांध पार्क में एक महिला से बातें कर रहा था, तभी अचानक महिला ने उसका चुंबन ले लिया।

2021 उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और समाजवादी पार्टी के अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव ने गोरखपुर में समाजवादी विजय रथ यात्रा के तीसरे चरण की शुरुआत करते हुए कहा कि यह चुनाव लोकतंत्र और संविधान बचाने का चुनाव है। उन्होंने सत्तारूढ़ भाजपा पर जमकर प्रहार करते हुए कहा कि जब केवल फेकू सरकार थी तो गनीमत थी, लेकिन अब तो बेचू सरकार हो गई है और सभी संस्थानों को बेच रही है। यादव ने दावा किया कि 3 महीने में तेल कंपनियों को 600 गुना का फायदा हुआ, ऐसे में भाजपा को लोगों को बताना चाहिए कि मुनाफा कहां जा रहा है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि भाजपा गरीबों की जेब काटकर अमीरों की तिजोरी भर रही है।

Augustine of Hippo (Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis/St. Augustine) was born in the Roman Empire in 354 AD. Augustine was a Berber-born theologian and philosopher who became Bishop of Hippo Regius in Numidia, Roman North Africa. His writings influenced the development of Western philosophy and Western Christianity, and he has a reputation as one of the most important Church Fathers of the Latin Church in the Patristic period. His important works include The City of God, On Christian Doctrine, and Confessions.

1002 The reigning English king Æthelred II of England orders the killing of all Danes in England, in what is today known as the St. Brice's Day Massacre. The Danes were a North Germanic tribe that inhabited southern Scandinavia, including present-day Denmark, northern and eastern England, and the Scanian province of modern southern Sweden, during the Nordic Iron Age and Viking Age.
